ROARK, Alice Bostain, 85, of Zephyrhills, and formerly of China Grove, N.C., passed away Wednesday, May 21, 2003 in Zephyrhills. She is survived by two sisters-in-laws, Lou Roark Edwards of Fairfax Station, Va., and Sarah Roark Conner of Scottsburg, Va.; four nieces and two nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, William E. Roark who passed away January 5, 1999. Services were held at Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home in China Grove, N.C., with Rev. Vance Lowe officiating. Interment was in Greenlawn Cemetery, China Grove, N.C. Born March 15, 1918 in China Grove, N.C. to William H. and Virginia (Winecoff) Bostain. She attended the China Grove Schools and the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Mrs. Roark was formerly employed as a Secretary with Cannon Mills. She was a former member of the First United Methodist Church of China Grove, N.C., and a member of the First United Methodist of Zephyrhills. SANTOS `Maria` Rodriguez Vega, 68, of Port Richey, passed away May 29, 2003 at Mease Countryside Hospital. Born in Patillas, Puerto Rico she came here 2 1/2 years ago from Puerto Rico. She was a homemaker and parishioner of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in New Port Richey. Survivors include her husband, Mariano Hernandez Garcia of Port Richey; sons, Martin Hernandez of Puerto Rico and Mariano Hernandez of Hartford Conn.; daughters, Gladys Hernandez and Evelyn Hernandez both of Port Richey, Yolanda Hernandez of Hartford; brothers, Wencelao Rodriguez of Buffalo, N.J. and Justo Rodriguez of Boston, Mass.; 11 grandchildren. Services and interment will be in Puerto Rico. North/Meadowlawn Funeral Home New Port Richey, Fla.

SPARACINO, Melvin J., 61, of Port Richey, passed away May 28, 2003 at his home. He was born March 15, 1942 in Brooklyn, N.Y. and came here 16 years ago from Copiague, N.Y. He was a member of St. James the Apostle Catholic Church and was a supervisor of maintenance at Orangewood Lakes Apartments. Survivors include his wife, Margie; three sons, John Anello of Spring Hill, Ricky Sparacino of Long Island, N.Y., Melvin Jr. of Fla.; three daughters, Frances Ocampo of Tarpon Springs, Fla., Cristina Paulsen of Spring Hill and Theresa Chabot of Metune, Mass.; five brothers; one sisters; and 13 grandchildren. Family will receive friends Monday 5-7 p.m. with the funeral service at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

STRONG, Marilyn M., age 67, of Zephyrhills, died Wednesday, May 28, 2003 at the Hernando-Pasco Hospice Care Center in Dade City. She was born in Richmond, Michigan and came here in 1998 from St. Cloud, Fla. She was a retired bus driver and a lifetime member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 80 in St. Cloud. She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Thomas; two sons, Kenneth of Cape Coral, Fla. and Michael of Ft. Meyers, Fla.; a daughter, Michelle Allen of Tampa, Fla.; a brother, Kenneth Lynch of Richmond, Mich.; a sister, Margie Tyson of St. Cloud, Fla.; and four grandchildren, Paul and Amanda Strong of Cape Coral, Fla., Jessica Strong of Kokomo, Ind. and Jason Allen of Tampa. Mrs. Strong was preceded in death by her brother, Bobby Lynch and her grandson, Bradley Strong. Donations may be made in her memory to the Hernando-Pasco Hospice, Inc., 7066 Ft. WILLIS, Dorothy Louise, 88, of New Port Richey, died May 30, 2003. She was born in Walkill, N.Y., and lived in New Port Richey for 30 years, having moved previously from Largo. She worked in food services for the Pasco County School System. She was a Methodist and volunteered for Lasertoma & Chasco Fiesta. She is survived by son, Donald R. Wills of Forest, Va.; daughters, Dianne F. Finotti of Port Richey, Elizabeth L. Krupitza of Seminole; brother, Edward Bowen of Spring Hill; sister, Beatrice Tiffany of Endicott, N.Y., and Beverly Coon of New Port Richey; nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 4, 2003 at 5-7 p.m. at Michels & Lundquist Funeral Home, 5228 Trouble Creek Rd., NPR, where a Chapel Service will follow at 7 p.m. Rev. BALLENGER, Charlotte T., 80, died May 29, 2003 . Born on Sept. 28, 1922 in Washington , D.C., she is survived by two sisters; two nieces; two nephews; and three great-nephews.

EKMAN, Elsie M. `Billie,` 81, a longtime resident of Tampa, passed away on Thursday, May 29, 2003. She was preceded in death by her husband Pierre G. `Ek` Ekman. She is survived by her daughter, Paula and her husband, Randy Brewer; grandson, Greg, all of Tampa; sister, Shirley Mealor of Tucker, Ga.; and many loving family and friends. A life celebration will be held Monday, June 2 at 10 a.m. at the Almon Funeral Home, Carrollton, Ga., (770) 832-7056. Interment will follow at Carroll Memory Gardens.

GRIFFIN, Gerald Emerson, was born July 15, 1987 and passed away May 27, 2003. `Sons are a heritage from the Lord, children a reward from him - blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them`. Gerald Emerson Griffin, has passed from this life into everlasting life. Gerald was 15 years old. He was unashamed of his faith in Christ Jesus and determined to live his life to its fullest. His passing is survived by his mother and father, Betsy and Bruce; two brothers, Justin and Brett; and relatives and friends from across the world. Gerald was known for his exceptional athleticism, magneti sm, warmth, enthusiasm, passion for people and attachment to those he loved. His smile, acceptance of others, laughter, quick wit and determination was an example to us all. A special part of Gerald's life belonged to the Vineyard Camp, a Christian youth sports camp, where he spent the past 15 summers. This past summer he rededicated his life to Christ. Because of his love for his camp and its wor ldwide youth mission, the family is asking that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to The Gerald Griffin Memorial Fund, The Vineyard Camp, 1945 Vineyard Road, Westfield, NC 27053. A viewing will be held Sunday, June 1, at 3 o'clock at the Blount-Curry Funeral Home, Carrollwood Chapel on Bearss Avenue. There will be a second viewing on Monday, June 2, at Idlewild Baptist Church one hour prior to the funeral. The funeral will begin at 11:00 a.m. Graveside services will be held immediately after the service at the Trinity Memorial Cemetery, Highway 54.

GRIMES, Edward Shelton, 24, passed away May 11, 2003. He is survived by his mother, Sandra Upper; and father, Terry Grimes.

HALEY, Seth P., 75, of Tampa, passed away Monday, May 26, 2003 at his residence. Born in Weymouth, Mass., Mr. Haley was a retired Master Sergeant from the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of the V.F.W. Town & Country Post, member of the Retired Sergeants Assoc. and was very active in civic organizations. Mr. Haley is survived by his loving children, Seth A. Haley, Richard H. (Debra) Haley, David J. (Donna) Haley, Mary (Kingmond) Haley Young, Michael A. A. (Cherie) Haley, and Paul R. (Candice) Haley; and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Constance M. Haley. Friends may call Sunday, June 1, 2003 from 2-5 p.m. at the Blount & Curry Funeral Home, West Chapel. A Graveside service will be held Monday, June 2, 2003 at 11:30 a.m. at Florida National Cemetery.

ISGETT, Delbert Ray, 49, of Tampa, entered into rest on May 28, 2003. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, a Baptist, and a loving husband, father and friend. He was predeceased by his son, Bill Hurtt and survived by wife, Etta; sons, Mel Hurtt, Tim Hurtt and Matt Hurtt; daughters, Staci Davis and Michelle Isgett; brother, Ronnie; and 13 grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 1, 2003 from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m., with services to follow Monday at 10 a.m., both at Hillsboro Memorial Funeral Home.

PRICE, Albert, Sr., 65, of New Port Richey, formerly of Seffner, died May 26, 2003. He was a foreman of Mid Florida Tree Service and will be deeply missed by all of the employees. He was a member of the Suncoast Dog Hunters Assoc. of Florida. Survived by his wife, Joyce; children, Terri Harden, Aleine Combs, Candice Kirby and Albert, Jr.; siblings, Peaches and Patricia Newman, Sandra Clarke, Nolan and Olan; and six grandchildren. PRITCHARD, Marjorie Baughman, 77, of Tampa, passed away Thursday, May 1, 2003 at her daughter's home in Overland Park, Kansas. Memorial Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 6 at Seminole Heights United Methodist Church, 6111 Central Avenue, Tampa, Fla., (813-236-5931). Mrs. Pritchard was born on January 13, 1926 in St. Petersburg. She graduated from St. Pete High School and attended St. Pete Jr. College. While working as the secretary to the president of Albert Whitted Airport, she met the love of her life, then Army Air Corpsman Wallace M. Pritchard, to whom she was married for 54 years. She furthered her later career at Monumental Properties by attending college accounting courses throughout her life, all the while serving as a wonderful wife, dedicated mother, and superior homemaker and hostess. She is survived by her three daughters, Cynthia Pritchard-Usrey of Raleigh, North Carolina, Cathy P. Burey of Overland Park, Kansas and Amy P. Seaton of Brooksville, Florida; and six grandchildren, Greer, Blair and Jed Burey, and Jonathan, Christopher and Amanda Seaton. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Seminole Heights United Methodist Church or `Focus on the Family` Colorado Springs, CO 80995.

TAYLOR, Julia M. `Judy` 71, of Shady Hills, passed away May 30, 2003 at home under the loving care of Hernando/ Pasco Hospice. She is survived by her husband, James; daughter, Sharon of Spring Hill; sons, Steven of Riverview, Douglas of Valrico and Richard of Ft. Worth, Texas ; granddaughter, Jennifer; grandsons, Jeffrey, Kyle and Benjamin; great-granddaughters, Kaylee and Amanda; and sisters, Isabel Brown of Woodbridge, Va. and Flossie Bennett of Fairfax, Va. The family will receive visitors from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 1, 2003 at the funeral home with interment to follow at a later date in Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Fla. VIVERETTE, Mary Catherine `Katie` Wass, 53, of St. Petersburgh, died May 29, 2003 at Bayfront Medical Center. She came here in 1957 from her native Milwaukee, Wis. She was a Teacher with the Pinellas and Hillsborough County Public Scool Systems. She taught at Gulf Beaches Elementary, Madeira Beach Middle School, Seminole High School and Tampa Catholic. She received her Associate of Arts degree from SPJC and her BA from USF. She was an AAU swimmer and USF Sports Booster and Alumnus. She was on the Panalenic Council, St. Petersburgh, and was a lifelong member and area representative of Kappa Alpha Theata for the St. Petersburgh and Tampa Chapters. Survivors include her husband of 23 years, Charles R.; step-daughter, Kimberely S. Viverette of Tampa; her mother, Catherine Wass of St. Petersburgh; and her mother-in-law, Geraldine Flowers Staton, Virginia Beach, Va. Anderson-McQueen Funeral Homes & Cremation Tribute Center-Ninth Street Chapel.

ANDRADE, Frank, 82, passed away May 28, 2003 in Tampa, a veteran of the Army during World War II, Mr. Andrade was retired from the Postal Service. Survivors include his children, Frances A. Menke, Frank J. Andrade Jr., Rosemarie Andrade and Andrew J. Andrade; sisters, Ofelia Sanchez and Adelle Rodriguez; brother, Benny Andrade; grandchildren, Patrick Menke, Alexander Andrade and Christian Andrade.

BIXBY, Sarah C. `Cathy`, 68, of Brandon, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, May 29, 2003 surrounded by her loving family. She was a wonderful and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is survived by her husband, Michael Bixby; three sons, Jerry, Joe, and Michael; one daughter, Jill; her sister, Lorraine Tarter; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many wonderful friends. A Memorial Service in celebration of her life will be held 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 3, 2003 at Stowers Brandon Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home

CALDWELL, John Bennett, 86, went to join his wife, Dorothy, and daughters, Pat and Teresa on May 30, 2003, when God called him home. John was born an only child on October 10, 1916 in Haskell, Texas and remembered picking cotton when just a lad. He moved from Texas at age 10 with his mother and stepfather, and excelled at the Ohio Catholic School System. After high school he stopped at a vegetable stand one day and met his future wife, with whom he would share the next 58 years. After moving the family to Florida, John became a carpenter, moving up to foreman, then superintendent. He then formed his own construction co., Accurate Enterprises in Melrose, Fla., and built many beautiful homes before retiring. John then became a VA volunteer at J.A. Haley Veterans Hospital, Tampa to 'give back' for all the wonderful care he received as a World War II Marine Veteran. John was known for his diligence, resourcefulness, loyalty, love of God, and family, and ALWAYS putting others before himself. He received awards for his Master Carpentry skills and VA Volunteer service, but John leaves behind his greatest achievement of all - a wealth of diversity, creativity, talent, industriousness a nd goodness in his following family members; daughters, Carol Taylor and Mary Roder; son, Robert Caldwell; grandchildren, Kathy Thomas, Cindy Bates, Patty Perry, John Leverett, Lisa Reed, Russ Caldwell, Suzanne Coleman, Rick Caldwell, Randy Caldwell, Lee Taylor, Kevin Taylor, Melissa Kimberely, Pam Valdes, and Bill Haspel; great-grandchildren, Michael, Ginny, Jessica, Wes, Travis, Robbie, Jackson, Kristin, Michelle, Corey, Bobby, Dustin, Ashley R., Brittany, Lindsey, Cole, Samantha, Israel, Jeremiah, Heather, Courtney, Brandon, Lucas, Mark, April, Ashley T., Breanno, Victoria, Hannah, Sarah and Emily.; great-great-grandchildren, Elijah, Brianna, and Jermaine. CHESHIRE, Doyle D., Sr., 91, died Thursday, May 29, 2003. He is survived by his wife, Helen C. Cheshire; two sons, Doyle D. Cheshire, Jr. of St. Petersburg and Lee Cheshire and wife, Judy of Tampa; and two grandchildren, Corey Cheshire and Tara Hernandez. Mr. Cheshire managed Howard Cleaners in New Haven, Conn. before moving to Tampa in 1950. He was a Sales Representative for Tingue Brown & Co. until his retirement in 1974. Funeral Services will be held at 12 Noon, Monday, June 2 at Blount & Curry Funeral Home, 605 South MacDill Avenue with entombment to follow at Myrtle Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. GARCIA, Amparo `Pauline` Jeronimo, 92, of Tampa, passed away Thursday, May 29, 2003. Mrs. Garcia was a lifelong resident of Tampa and graduated from Hillsborough High School. She worked as a Paraprofessional in the Hillsborough County School System. Mrs. Garcia is survived by her daughter, Gloria LoCicero and her husband Joe LoCicero of Dacula, Ga.; son, Mike `Mickey` Garcia and his wife, Gloria Garcia of Tampa; six grandchildren, Joey LoCicero, Richard LoCicero, Suzanne McGinnis, Kenneth LoCicero, Michael A. Garcia and Terry `Nick` Garcia; and nine great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, in the chapel at the MacDonald Funeral Home. The family will receive friends prior to the service Tuesday from 5-7 p.m. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation and gratitude to the entire staff at Shady Palms Retirement Home and LifePath Hospice.

She is survived by her husband of 14 years, Isaac Green; four children, Charles Redding (Rose), Robert Cox, Russell Cox, and Delores Calkins (George Foster); sister, Frances Fletcher; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Special thanks to Sheila Pittman and the other LifePath Hospice Staff (Pewter). Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 3, 2003, at the Garden of Memories chapel. Interment will follow in Myrtle Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

KERWIN, Claude, 63, of Tampa, entered into rest on May 28, 2003. He was the owner and proprietor of Cardinal Jewelers, located in Brandon. He was a Catholic, a U.S. Navy Veteran, and a loving brother and friend. He is survived by his brothers, Bill and Gary; sister, Janet Romero. Visitation will be held on Monday, June 2, 2003 from 5-7 p.m. with services to follow Tuesday at 2 p.m. both at Hillsboro Memorial FH.

LUIS, Berta, age 80, of Tampa, passed away May 28, 2003. A native of Asturias, Spain and resident of Tampa for the past 37 years, Mrs. Luis is survived by her son, Jose Luis and wife, Luz Mary; grandson, Jose Luis; sisters, Amparo and Etelvina Luis; cousins, Andres and Amalia Faza and Frank and Alberto Rosete.

MELLO, Frank, 78, went to be with the Lord on May 29, 2003. He moved to Florida from Seekonk, Mass., in 1957 and retired from Anheuser Busch. Survivors are his wife of 60 years, Josephine Mello; son, Al Mello and his wife, Nancy; one grandson, Ken Mello; and two great-grandchildren: Jacob and Taylor Mello. Viewing will be from 11:00 a.m. Monday until the time of service. Burial services will be performed by Rev. Alan C. Hatch at the Garden of Memories Chapel, 4207 E. Lake Avenue, on Monday at Noon.
