ANDERSON, Joyce A., 71, passed away July 24, 2003. She was born July 9, 1932, in Chicago, Ill. She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Ronald P. Anderson. She is survived by her son, Robert and his fiancee, Anne Catherine Young; half-brother, Nick Abbott; aunt, Betty Burkeybyle; and many other family members and loving friends. Joyce was an extremely friendly and outgoing individual. She will be greatly missed by all those that were fortunate enough to have met her. She was a huge lover of all animals, and gave a good home to many pets and animals during her life. She was a long-time supporter of the Humane Society of Tampa Bay, and other animal rights organizations. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, July 30 at 6 p.m. at the Mark III Funeral Home, 3328 S. Dale Mabry Hwy., Tampa. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her memory to the Humane Society of Tampa Bay, 3607 N. Armenia Avenue, Tampa, FL 33607.

CHAKOLA, Susheela L., 50, of Saint Leo, died Friday, July 25, 2003. She was born February 24, 1953 in India to Johny and Lily (Puthenpurackal) Anchery. She moved from India to New Orleans in 1976 and came to Dade City in 1983. She worked part time as an office manager for her husband, Dr. Paul Chakola at his Zephyrhills office. Survivors include her husband of 32 years, Paul L. Chakola M.D. of Saint Leo; her son, Paul J. Chakola of Brandon; daughter, Priya Chakola and son-in-law John Nabakavukaran of Stockton, California; three sisters, Ramani Phillip, Geeta Jinny and Lata Thomas all of India; brother Pav Anchery of India; her mother, Lily Anchery of India; and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received Tuesday, July 29, from 6-8 p.m. at Coleman & Ferguson Funeral Home in Dade City. The Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 30, at Saint Leo Abbey Church in Saint Leo. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Gardens in Dade City.

GARDNER, Lilian B., 83, died peacefully at her home in Tampa on Tuesday, July 22, 2003 at 5:15 p.m. She was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and moved to Tampa in the late 50's where she worked for the City of Tampa as a contract specialist and administrative assistant, as well as an assistant to State Senator Joseph McClain, Jr., putting her education from the University of Tennessee to good use. Lilian was selected `Woman of the Year` by the American Business Women's Association and was an active volunteer with Tampa's last Super Bowl. She was a staunch Republican and an ardent supporter and contributor to many causes, including animal rights. During her later years she attended Holy Trinity Presbyterian Church where her faith grew and was a special person to so many within the church family. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, James Calvin and Christy Gardner of Lakeland, Florida and nephew, Milton Brooks Carew and his wife Rosalie of Salisbury, Maryland. She was preceded in death by her mother and step-father, Pauline and Brooks Carew, and half-sister, Polly Wathen and half-brother, Brooks Carew, Jr. A memorial service will be held at Holy Trinity Presbyterian Church, 3501 Bay to Bay Blvd., Tampa, FL 33629 at 12 Noon Monday, July 28th. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to LifePath Hospice, Holy Trinity Presbyterian Church, or a charity of your choice. At the moment of her death, surrounded by friends, Lilian passed immediately following the reading of the 23rd Psalm: `Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.`

GILBERT, Rowland Byron, 72 of Zephyrhills, Fla., passed away Tuesday, July 22, 2003 under hospice care in Dade City. He was born in the Tampa/Temple Terrace are on December 10, 1930 to Rowland W. and Dora Williams Gilbert. He moved to Zephyrhills 16 years ago and was in the Steel Fabrication Business. He is survived by his wife, Marlene Navarro Gilbert, Zephyrhills, Fla.; three sisters, Beverly, Carolynn, Judy; and one brother, Alan. We wish to thank Dr. Leon Mitchell for 30 years of excellent care; Dr. N. Patel, Rick, and all the staff of Hernando-Pasco Hospice for their compassionate care.

A native of Cidra, Puerto Rico and resident of Tampa for the past 14 years, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Cristina Reyes and Lucia Reyes. Mrs. Hernandez is survived by her children, Luis Hernandez, Ana Hernandez, Alfonso Reyes, Elena Ramos, Emilio Reyes, Heriberto Reyes and M. Isabel Carera; 37 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Family and friends will gather on Monday at 10:00 a.m. at the Garden of Memories Funeral Home. Graveside services will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the Garden of Memories Cemetery.

JENNINGS, Esther Elizabeth, 71, of Tampa, died July 22, 2003. She is survived by her husband, Andrew J. Jennings Jr; and son, Drew Jennings, of Tampa.

KIRKMAN, Jack Howell, 78, died Friday, July 25, 2002 after a long illness. He was a native Floridian born in Blanton, Florida. He is survived by his wife, Frances; and children, Jill Krantz, Linda Butler, Jack Kirkman, Jr. and their families. Visitation will be from 6-8:00 p.m. on Monday at the Coleman & Ferguson Funeral Home in Dade City. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 29, at the Blanton United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at the Mt. Zion Cemetery.

LASH, Barbara A., 68, of Tampa, went to live with her Lord Jesus on July 25, 2003. She is survived by her husband, William of Tampa; her mother, Ruth Irland of Sidney, New York; and sons, Robert Backus and Richard Backus of Sidney, New York, Shawn Lash of Tampa, Chuck Tudor of Tampa and Dale Lash of Amarillo, Texas . Mrs. Lash also leaves behind many beautiful grandchildren and wonderful friends.

MARTINEZ, Celestino, `Chungo`, 83, `West Tampa's Don Amici`, passed away July 23, 2003 in Tampa. Survivors include his wife, Carolyn S. Martinez; sons, Donald Martinez and Keith Hudgins; step children: Phillip Page, Tami Perez and Charles Burke; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. PERRY, Robert Thomas, of Bethesda, Md., died July 7, 2003. He was a long time resident of Needham and a member of St. Joseph's Parish. He is survived by his beloved wife, Elizabeth Macusty Perry and four children, Robert of New York, N.Y., Dennis of New Canaan, Conn., Scott of Tampa, Fla., and Lisa of Potomac, Md. He is also survived by one brother, Norman of Sterling, Mass., and six cherished grandchildren, Tyler, Ross, and Katherine Perry, and Stefan, Yale, and Jocquin Baldacci. Each participated in the celebration of their grandfather's life at services held at Our Lady of Mercy Church of Potomac, Md. During World War II, he joined the US Navy and served with distinction in the OSS in China. Professionally, he worked for more than forty-five years with Lebhar-Friedman Publishing of New York, retiring in 1999 as executive vice president. He is interred at the Calvary Cemetery in Waltham, Mass. Memorials may be made in his memory to the National Kidney Foundation, 11 Vanderbilt Ave., Norwood, MA 02062.

RYAN, Mary Elizabeth, 73, of Seffner, passed away July 24, 2003. She was born in Logan, Ala. She leaves to cherish her memory a loving and extended family. Survivors include spouse, Dean (Rolly) Ryan; children, Donnie and Juanita Schnitzler, Bobby and Vivian Ryan and Pattie and Tim Locke; grandchildren, Chris and Tina Schnitzler, Billy and Pam Schnitzler, Anissa Carter-Gray, Lance and Danielle Carter, Adam Ryan, Scott Ryan, Christen Ryan and Jacquelyn Ryan; brothers, James A. McCain, Bill McCain and Bob McCain; sisters, Margie Hixenbaugh, Euna Anderson and Mavis Sapp; 10 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Family and friends will gather Tuesday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Garden of Memories Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with interment to follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery.

SANFORD, Susan F., age 36, of Tampa, passed away July 23, 2003. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Sandford. She is survived by daughter, Amber Wise; parents, Marilla and Henry Bottomley; brother, David Bottomley; and sister, Katherine Erickson. Graveside funeral services will be held Monday at 11:00 a.m. at Sunset Memory Gardens. Everyone is to meet at the cemetery. SHEPHERD, Winifred B., age 86, of Tampa, passed away Friday afternoon, July 25, 2003 at LifePath Hospice House in Sun City Center. Born in Ashburn, Ga., she grew up in Kissimmee and lived in Tampa for 50 years. A loving mother and devoted wife, she was a hospital volunteer for many years. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Portia Shepherd of Tampa; grandchildren, Valerie, Natalie and Sam Shepherd of Tampa and Devon Stewart of Kansas City, Kan.; sister and brother-in-law, Marjory and William Williams; niece, Dee Dee Williams; and nephew, Duane and his wife, Jackie Williams, all of Orlando. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob; her son, David; and her brother. A Memorial service will be conducted 6 p.m., Monday, July 28, 2003 at Marsicano-B. She is survived by brothers Claudio and Jose Luis Perez; son, Daniel; grandson, Philip; sister-in-law, Carmen and several nephews and nieces. VOLPE, Beatrice L., 93, of Brandon, passed away Friday, July 25, 2003. Preceded in death by her husband, Matthew Volpe; two sons, Frank and Anthony Volpe; and one granddaughter, Lorraine Parrino, she is survived by her daughter, Kathyleen Hedrick and her husband, Dr. J.L. Hedrick; grandson, Matthew Hannam and wife, Linda; great-grandson, Matthew Hannam II, all of Brandon, Fla.; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren, all in the New York area. She resided in Brandon for two years coming from Brooklyn, N.Y. and was of the Catholic faith. Services to be held in Staten Island, N.Y. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to LifePath Hospice in her memory.

YOWELL, Russell Barbee, Sr., born in Washington , D.C. on July 28, 1921 went peacefully to be with the Lord on July 24, 2003 with his family by his side just four days short of his 82nd birthday. He leaves behind a wife and companion of 38 years, Caroline A. Yowell of Tampa; two sons, John C. Yowell and wife, Debra of Land O' Lakes, Russell B. Yowell, Jr. and wife, Kristine of Plant City; two daughters, Carolyn J. Hauser and husband, Dennis of Brandon, and Susan L. Millard and husband, Mike of Valrico; 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; two sisters-in- law, Alice May Gonzalez and Gayle Spencer. Russell moved to the Tampa Bay area in 1953. He was the owner of Carl's Roofing, River Heights Marina & Yacht Club, and Drive-In Travel service. He served in the U.S. Army in Europe during World War II. Russell loved life and lived it to the fullest and leaves to cherish his memory a loving family. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, July 28, 2003 at the Marsicano Chapel, 4040 Henderson Blvd., interment will follow at Garden Of Memories cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday, from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. at the funeral home.

CAPURRO, Genara `Marie` B., 83, of Hudson, died Friday, July 25, 2003 at home. She was born in Parrillas, Toledo, Spain and moved to Hudson from Stockton, Calif. 25 years ago. She was a homemaker and a Catholic. She was a member of the DAV Auxiliary and the American Legion Auxiliary, both in Hudson and an avid bingo player. Survivors include her husband, Virgil Capurro of Hudson; son, Tony Capurro of Radcliff, Ky.; grandchildren, Karen J. Reely of Travis AFB, Calif., Chad A. Capurro of Radcliff, Ky. and Connie J. West of Newport News, Va.; and six great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be held on Monday, July 28, 2003 at 9:30 a.m. at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell.

ERVIN, William D., 78, of New Port Richey, passed away July 24, 2003 at his residence. He was born in Olmsted, Illinois and came to New Port Richey in 2002 from Inverness, Florida. He was a plant engineer for Caterpillar Corp. in Aurora, Illinois. He served in the US Marine Corps during World War II in the Pacific Theatre. He was a member of the American Institution of Plant Engineers, Industrial Management Association, Foreign Affairs Council, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Elks Lodge, Moose Lodge and American Legion. He is survived by his wife, Freda Ervin of New Port Richey; five sons, Doc, Gary and Bill Ervin, all of Montgomery, Ill., Dennis of Spring Grove, Ill. and Dana of Piano, Ill.; two daughters, Carla Brown of New Port Richey and Darcy Capocasa of Tarpon Springs; a brother, Marvin Ervin of Jonesborough, Ill.; and two sisters, Faymel Bergfeld of Aurora, Ill. and Viola Bagby of Jackson, Missouri. Mr. Ervin is also survived by 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Ervin's final place of rest will be in Lincoln Memorial Park Aurora, Illinois.

FERRERA, Pedro M., 84, of Holiday, passed away Saturday, July 26, 2003 at the Hernando-Pasco Hospice House. Mr. Ferrera was born in Havana, Cuba and came here in 1985 from Quincy, Mass. where he was a certified public accountant. Mr. Ferrera is preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Caridad. He is survived by two daughters, Miriam Anderson of Hudson and Carmen Ferrera of Temple, N.H.; two sons, Pedro M. Jr. of Rochester, Mass. and Raul of Plymouth, Mass.; one brother, Federico Ferrera of Boca Raton, Fla.; one sister-in-law, Ana Lopez of Holiday; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Monday, July 28, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church, 4843 Mile Stretch Dive, Holiday, Florida. JOHNSON, Morris J., 80, of Holiday, died Saturday, July 26, 2003 at Madison Pointe Rehab & Nursing Center in New Port Richey. Born in Flint, Mich., he came here five years ago from Toledo, Ohio. He was a retired engineer with Chesapeak & Ohio Railroad. He was a veteran of the Merchant Marines serving in World War II and attended the Church of God. Mr. Johnson is survived by his two daughters, Shiela Friddle of Port Richey and Sharon Ireland of Holiday; one brother, Cassius Johnson of St. Helen's, Mich.; one sister, Victoria Hepner of Toledo, Ohio; four grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She is survived by three sons, Thomas of West Melbourne, Fla., Paul of Deer Park, N.Y. and John of Irvington, N.Y.; one brother, Eugene Maslauskas of South Bellmore, N.Y.; two sisters, Angela Wonson of Port Richey and Rose Rumpf of Hudson; and seven grandchildren.
