BARNHARDT, Vienna, age 91, of Gainesville, Ga., formerly of Dade City, Fla., died Friday, July 25, 2003 following an extended illness. Memorial services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, August 4, 2003 at the St. Mary's Episcopal Church. A native of Ada, Ohio, Mrs. Barnhardt was a homemaker, a dedicated volunteer with 29 years service to the Pasco County Medical Center and a member of the St. Mary's Episcopal Church. She is survived by her husband of 68 years, The Reverend Jim Barnhardt; daughter and son-in-law, Kay and Emerson Stow, all of Gainesville, Ga.; daughter and son-in-law, Sue and Bill Maxwell of Port Townsend, Wash.; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made in Mrs. Barnhardt's name to St. Mary's Episcopal Church, 37637 Magnolia Ave., Dade City, FL 33523.

BERTRAM, Donald Y., 86 of Tampa passed away July 30, 2003. He was born in Alpena, Mich. and moved to Tampa in 1950. He was past President of the Lions Club of Tampa Bay for the years 1956 and 1957, and the best dad in the whole wide world. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Maureen; and is survived by his sons, Bruce A. Bertram, Donald E. Davis, and Donald C. Bertram; daughters, Brenda D. Bailey, Pam S. Bergman, Cheryl K. Raynor; 103 year old brother, Royal Bertram; sixteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services are being held 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 2nd at the Mark III Funeral Home, 3328 S. Dale Mabry Hwy. Memorial contribution can be made to LifePath Hospice, 3010 W. Azeele Street, Tampa, FL 33609.

BLAND, Mrs. Rita M., age 84 years, of Inverness, passed away July 29, 2003. The Service of Remembrance will be held 1 p.m. Friday, August 1, 2003 at the Inverness Chapel of Hooper Funeral Homes. Interment will follow at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell. She was born in Adrian, Georgia and came to Inverness in 1989 from Tampa. Mrs. Bland was a retired Clerk from the Hillsborough County Building and Zoning Department; a member of the First Church of God, Inverness; and Inverness Chapter OES #65. Surviving are her husband of 34 years, James W. Bland; a son, Lonnie (Lois) Bell, Tampa; two daughters, Evelyn E. (Chuck) Artis, Oldsmar, and Rita (Pete) Alfieri, Inverness; two brothers, Lonnie (Mary) Curl and Joe (Bonnie) Curl; four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

BURTON, Doyle Fred, 74, of Plant City passed away July 28, 2003. He is survived by two sons, Michael Burton and Carlos Burton; and two grandchildren. Mr. Burton was a veteran of the United States Air Force, member of Grace Methodist Church and an active member of the VFW. Funeral services will be held Friday (today) August 1, 2003 at 10:30 a.m. from Hopewell Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Noland Colkmire and Pastor Ron Hubbard officiating. Interment will follow in Florida National Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation thirty minutes prior to service time.

CHESSON, Jr., James A., 83 of Tampa passed away July 28, 2003 at Canterbury Tower Health Center. He was born in Roper, N.C. and moved to Tampa from Washington DC in 1946. James was a World War II veteran, serving as a fighter and bomber pilot on various aircraft carriers, retired Lt. Commander, and worked for the War Assets Administration in Washington , DC. He owned several general aviation businesses, served as the first chairman of the State Aviation Advisory Council, lifelong Anglican, member of the Church of the Resurrection, Palma Ceia Golf & Country Club, Quiet Birdmen, Florida Flying Farmers, Flying Alligators, Rotary Club of Tampa and Paul Harris Fellow. He is survived by his beloved wife, Jane (Hancock); son, James A. Chesson, III; daughter, Ellen C. Sullivan; sisters, Christine C. Clark, Eva C. Taylor, and Carole C. Lyle; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. A memorial service is being held 4 p.m. Monday, Aug. 4th at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 501 S. Dale Mabry with Father Kevin Donlan officiating. CURTISS, Fielda Jane, 76, passed away at home on July 24, 2003 after suffering a stroke. She is preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Hiram Curtiss. She is survived by her loving siblings, Dan Zuber of Seattle, Wash., James Zuber of St. Regis, Mont., and Margaret Ann Zuber of Billings, Mont. She is also sorely missed by her four sons, Thomas Scott and wife, Lorinda Price, M.D., James M. and wife, Lucinda of Tampa, Richard and wife, Cindy of Denver, Colo., and Kenneth of Tampa and wife, Shawn of Plattekill, N.Y.; six granddaughters, Gina and husband, Billy Schrader of Tampa, Joanie and Jessie Curtiss of Denver, Colo., Amanda and Linnea Curtiss of Tampa, and Anna Lee Curtiss of Plattikill, N.Y.; seven great-grandchildren, Matthew Messer, Kaley and Cameron Schrader all of Tampa, Lori, Mary, Jerry, and Bryant Curtiss of Denver, Colo.. Fielda Jane was born in Little Rock, Ark. on Nov. 2, 1926. The family moved to Ordway, Colo. in 1944, when her father was transferred by the railroad. She met Hiram there and they married in 1947. Hiram became a county judge and jane ran the family hardware store. They raise four sons in Ordway and after 16 years moved to Tampa. She worked as an assistant adminastrator for Fran Davin and continued in that position for many Hillsborough Co. Commissioners and retired from the county in 1989. She was a staunch Democrat and ardent supporter of the Women's Movement all her life. A memorial service will be held at the Mark III Funeral Home, 7701 W. Hillsborough Ave. at 11 a.m., Saturday, August 2, 2003. Flowers will be accepted or donations can be made to the Ronald McDonald House, 35 Columbia Dr., Tampa, FL 33606, or to a charity of choice.

HALL, Roy M., 80, born Jan. 31, 1923, died peacefully on July 29, 2003. Born in Tracy, Kentucky. Moved to Akron, Ohio where he lived for 20 years. Moved to Tampa in 1956. Preceded in death by father Arthur, mother Bessie, brother Eddie, and nephew Ronnie. Survived by wife Grace Hall; son, Jimmie Hall and wife Lora; daughters Karen Segallos and Jim, Brenda Alvarez and husband Ken, Judy Sanchez and husband Jeff; 12 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Services to be held Saturday, August 2, at Tampa Baptist Church, 300 E. Sligh Ave. Visitation 1 p.m. and services 3 p.m. Private interment at Florida National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Tampa Baptist Church in his memory.

Survivors include her brothers, Ralph Spangler of Lakeland, Fla., Charles Spangler of Cumberland, Ky. and Clarence Spangler of Springfield, Ohio; many nieces and nephews. A native of Letcher Co., Ky., Mrs. Harrison had lived in the Tampa area since 1965. She was a member of Trinity Chapter #240 Order of the Eastern Star. Private entombment will be held in Myrtle Hill Memorial Park.

HEATHMAN, Rose L., 92, of St. Petersburg, died Wednesday, July 30, 2003, at Palms of Pasadena Hospital, South Pasadena, Fla. Survived by loving family. Friends may call Sunday, Aug. 3, 2003, from 2 until 4 p.m. at Anderson-McQueen Funeral Homes & Cremation Tribute Center-Bobbitt Chapel, 7820-38th Ave. N., St. Petersburg. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday at 10 a.m. at Azalea Baptist Church, 7900-22nd Ave. N., St. Petersburg, FL 33710, with a committal service to follow at 1 p.m. at Mt. Enon Cemetery in Plant City. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make memorial contributions in her name to the church.

MARTIN, Fred R., III, passed away July 30, 2003. While born in Macon, Ga. he was a third generation Tampan with deep roots in the community since he grew up and lived in Tampa all his life. He is survived by his Wife, Helen Martin; daughters Rosann Creed and husband Tom, Jane Carswell and husband Haynes; grandchildren David Jackson Elsberry, Ashley Carswell, and Trey Carswell, his brother Charles Martin and wife Wilma; and brother-in-law Eugene Woodward and wife Joan. Fred was a lifetime member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, he attended the Academy of Holy Names, Gorrie Elementary School, Woodrow Wilson Junion High, H. B. Plant High School, and the University of Florida where he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity. He joined the US Air Force Cadet Corp in 1942 where he was Wing Commander at Advanced Flying School. He served as First Pilor of a B-17 in North Africa and Fogia, Italy. He was shot down over Ploesti, Romania in 1944 , escaped over the Danube River to Yugoslavia and was smuggled out by an O.S.S. team. He returned to Bari, Italy where he served in the 15th Air Force Intelligence. Upon returning to Tampa, he was employed by Cuesta-Rey Cigar Company. In 1 949 he started the chain of Martin Drug Stores. He was active in the land and cattle business as well as other diversified businesses. He became Chief Assistant Tax Collector for Hillsborough County in 1994. His civic activities included President of the Rotary Club of Tampa, President of the President's Roundtable of Tampa, President of the Pan American Commission and World Trade Council. He was Treasurer and member of the Board of Governors of the Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce for 16 years, a member of the Board of Councilors at the University of Tampa, a director of the Florida State Fair Association, director of the Florida Angus Cattle Association, and a member of the Board of Florida International Trade Council. He was Past Commodore of the Tampa Yacht and Country Club and Club H istorian since 1994, a member of University Club of Tampa, and a past director and King of Ye Mystic Krewe of Gasparilla. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, 509 East Twiggs Street, Tampa, at 12 Noon on Saturday, August 2, 2003. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Andrew's Episcopal Church Foundation or a charity of the donor's choice.

MEDLEY, James Douglas, age 78 of Tampa, formerly of Clearwater, died July 28, 2003. He is survived by son, Frank Medley of Oldsmar; daughter, Marianna Perratta of Tennessee; brother, Fred Medley and sister, Roberta Holmes, both of Tennessee; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Memorial service at Immanuel Chapel, 7100 142nd. Ave., Largo, Fla., on Aug. 2, at 2 p.m.

RELIHAN, Elizabeth A., 54, of Tampa, passed away July 29, 2003, and was preceded in death by parents Lennie and Glenna Ansell. She is survived by her beloved husband of 33 years, John O. Relihan, son, Sean O. Relihan; daughters, Lisa and husband Brian Northrup, and Kelly Eljuri; grandson, Christoper Northrup; granddaughters, Oceana and Kaitlin Eljuri; sisters, Jane Hepner of Tampa and Lucille Hanshaw of Huntington, W.Va.; brother-in-law, James Relihan; sisters-in-law, Marie Palevada, Carroll and husband Ronnie Kilgore and Lucille and husband Doyle Kato; and numerous nephews and nieces. Born in Huntington, W.Va., she moved to Tampa in 1967 and was a homemaker for the last 33 years. Family and friends dearly loved her. Visitation and Wake will he held 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 1, at Swilley Funeral Home, 1602 W. Waters Ave. A Funeral Mass will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, at Most Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, 10110 Central Ave. Interment will be in Myrtle Hill Memorial Park.

SANCHEZ, Eva P., age 84, of Tampa, passed away July 30, 2003. A native and lifelong resident of Tampa, Mrs. Sanchez was of the Catholic faith and is survived by her loving husband of 32 years, Armando Sanchez; step daughter, Esther Sanchez; grandson, Jared Sanchez and cousin, Estella Mendez. Graveside services will be held Saturday morning at 11 o'clock at Centro Asturiano Memorial Park. Everyone is to meet at the cemetery for the graveside services.
