KENEL, Mary, J. (nee McCaffrey), 95, of Brandon, passed away Aug. 1, 2003 at Hawthorne Heathcare. She was born in New York City, and is formerly of St. Matthew's Parish in Hallandale, Fla. Mary was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Raymond, and is survived by her children, Mary E. Kenel-Skeffington, Sally and Bob; and her two sisters, Sally Loftus and Elizabeth Hewes. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, Aug. 7 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 4522 S. Manhattan Ave. at 10 a.m. with Fr. Colman McGarril, T.O.R. officiating.

KRAUSS, Elmer J. (Amby) age 76, died unexpectedly Saturday, August 2, 2003 in Sebewaing, Michigan. He was born January 27, 1927 in Sebewaing, son of the late Elmer A. and Mabel (Lutz) Krauss. He graduated from Sebewaing High School in 1944. He served in the US Army during World War II, He then returned to Sebewaing and was employed by Dembowske Sales. He moved to St. Petersburg, Florida in 1951 and began his real estate career. Elmer was a Realtor in Tampa and St. Petersburg, Fla. for over 50 years. He developed Joe's Creek in St. Petersburg and Tampa East and Tampa West Industrial Parks in Tampa, plus numerous other ventures. He married Rosann Krauss in 1952. Surviving are Rosann Krauss, St. Petersburg; Barbara Klecher, Tampa; Virginia (Bob) Miller, St. Pete Beach; and Don (Mary) Krauss, Battle Creek, Mich.; several nieces, nephews and numerous friends. He was preceded in death by infant son, Michael Krauss. There will be a Funeral Service in Michigan at 11 a.m. Thursday, August 7, 2003 at The Ministry Center at Trinity United Methodist Church. Entombment will take place at a later date in Michigan. Friends may call at the Dinkel-Juengel Funeral Home in Sebewaing from 2 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday. He will lie in state at the church from 9:30 a.m. Thursday until the time of service. There will also be a Memorial Service in Tampa at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 16, 2003 at Blount & Curry MacDill Chapel, 605 S. MacDill Ave. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider Bay Shore Camp 450 N. Miller Street Sebewaing, MI 48759; Wisconsin Lutheran College 668 North 77th Street, Milwaukee, WI 53213; Lowry Park Zoo 7530 North Blvd., Tampa, FL 33604. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home in Michigan or at the chapel, in Tampa.

LAU, Elizabeth `Betty` of Tampa passed away August 2, 2003. She was preceded in death by her sister, Pearl Guerin. She is survived by her husband Don; brother Dennis Amlaw of Pittsfield, Mass. She will be missed by her children, Dawn, Phil, Mary Jane, Kim and Paul and her twelve loving grandchildren, Amanda, Andrew, Ashton, Asli, Blair, Blake, Cameryn, Christopher, Cody, Kayla, Parker and Shelby. The family will receive friends Wednesday, August 6, 2003 from 6-8 p.m. at Blount and Curry Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated by Father Bill Wilson and Monsignor Laurence Higgins, at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, August 7, 2003 at St. Paul Catholic Church with entombment to follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery. LEWIS, Janet Susan, 55, of Land O' Lakes, Fla., passed away Monday, August 4, 2003, at St. Joseph's Cancer Center. She was born in Pana, Ill. and moved to Florida from Pana in 1973. She was a member of Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church. She is survived by her husband, Ted; one daughter, Bridgette Lazar of Land O' Lakes, Fla.; her mother, Edna Koontz of Pana, Ill.; three sisters, Carol Moriarity of Venice, Fla., Sharon Fitzpatrick of Pana, Ill., Linda Reish of Granite City, Ill.; and one granddaughter, Lily Lazar of Land O' Lakes, Fla. She was a loving aunt with many nieces and nephews. A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made, in her memory, to the Children's Cancer Center, Inc., 4901 West Cypress Street, Tampa, FL 33607, (813) 367-5437, Ext 2 (for kids).

MASON, Daniel, 57, died August 2, 2003. Born in Illinois and lived in Tampa since 1963. He is survived by his brother Patrick Mason and a sister Suzy Sturges, three nephews and two nieces. In the 1970's he was owner with his brother of Mason Trading Co. and for the past 15 years a rural postal carrier with the Lutz Post Office. Memorial Service will be held Saturday, August 9, 2003 at 12 Noon at First United Methodist Church of Seffner, 1310 S. Kingsway Rd., Seffner.

She is survived by her parents, Earl and Linda Hayes; son, Corey Neal; daughter, Shelbie Lynn Neal; brothers, David Hayes and wife, Georgette, Craig Hayes and wife, Courtney and Earl Hayes Jr. and wife, Vanessa; and her sister, Dina Milian. She is survived by her sons, Eddie Shover of Lakeland, Michael Shover of Dover and Danny Shover of Plant City; daughters, Michelle Hitson of Plant City and Barbara Shover of Georgia; mother, Elizabeth Rollins of Mulberry; brothers, Robert Rollins Jr. of N.C. and Steve Rollins of Nichols; sister, Carol Lane of Mulberry; and six grandchildren. RUSSELL, Ethel, 93, went home to be with the Lord on August 5, 2003 in Tampa. Born in Liverpool, England, she moved to Florida in 1965. She was a homemaker and an Episcopalian. She was predeceased by her husband, Peter; and two grandchildren and is survived by her son, Pete and wife, Paula; daughter, Betty Ann Basos and husband, Bill; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. THOMSON, Lillian C., 85, of Brandon, Fla., went home to her Lord on August 2, 2003. Formerly of E. Bridgewater, Massachusetts, she was the founder and owner of Thomson Marine for over 20 years. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Tom Arneson; granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Donna and Doug Dickinson; granddaughter Lisa Arneson; great-granddaughter, Danielle Dickinson; and by family and friends in Massachusetts. Her very best friend, Vernal Plummer, went to join her on Aug. 4, 2003. She had been active for many years organizing and running thrift stores in Massachusetts, St. Augustine and Riverview, Fla. for the benefit of A.R.C. TURNER, Nancy L. Best, 54, a Tampa native, passed away Aug. 1, 2003 under the care of LifePath Hospice. She attended Plant High School and HCC, was Baptist by faith and a member of the Bayshore Baptist Church and worked for Nationwide Insurance as a paralegal. She is survived by her husband, Terry; daughter, Angela Maitland and her husband, Tyrone; granddaughter, Ashlee Maitland; parents, George and Carrleen Best; sisters, Sue Figman-Best and her husband, Keith, Julie A. Lauro and her husband, Albert, and Beverly Saban and her husband, Tom. A Memorial Service is being held at the Bayshore Baptist Church, 3111 W. Morrison Ave., Tampa, Wednesday, Aug. 6 at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to LifePath Hospice or the American Cancer Society.

COVINO, Jean, 79, of Dade City, died Tuesday evening, August 5, 2003 in Tampa. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church with Rev. Henry Riffle as celebrant. A native of Bronx, N.Y., she moved to Dade City seven years ago from Tampa. She retired from the Trac Microwave Company in Tampa. She was a member of St. Rita Catholic Church and a member of the Dade City Branch of the Y.M.C.A. She is survived by one daughter, Marie Pierce and son-in-law Roy of San Antonio, Fla.; one son, Michael R. Covino of Clearwater, Fla.; two brothers, Angelo and Frank Nigro; two grandsons, Jeffery Keleman and wife May, and Michael R. Covino; and three great grandchildren, Lindsey, Daniel and Abigail Keleman. The family would like to give a special thanks to the caring nursing staff at the University Community Hospital as well as her attending physicians.

FRANKLIN, Robert H., 77 of New Port Richey, died Wednesday, August 6, 2003 at the Gulfside Regional Hospice House. Born in Hartford, Conn. he came here in 1996 from E. Hartford, Conn., where he retired from the Dew Construction Company after many years as an Operating Engineer and was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local #478 in Hamden, Conn., a member of the Wether sfield High School graduating class of 1944 and a former member of the Masonic Hospitality Lodge in Wethersfield, Conn. Mr. Franklin also retired from the Hartford Insurance Company after 15 years of service and volunteered at the Manchester Memorial Hospital in Manchester, Conn. Locally he was a volunteer at the North Bay Hospital. He is preceded in death by a daughter Bobbie Lynn, a brother Walter Wilson Franklin and a sister Mary Lane Spencer. He is survived by two sons, S. Craig Franklin of Manchester, Conn. and Daryl Franklin of San Diego, Calif.; one daughter, Lori Ann Barr of Gun Barrel City, Texas ; a brother, Richard W. Greenport, L.I.; three sisters, Priscilla Tripp of Ellenton, Fla., Nancy Violette of Wethersfield, Conn. and Barbara D'Amato of Cromwell, Conn.; two grandsons, Jerr y Barr and Javier Franklin. HOFFMAN, Genevieve S., 88, a resident of Dade City, Fla., died Thursday, July 31, 2003, from cancer. She was born March 16, 1915, in North East (Erie County), Pennsylvania , daughter of the late Edward M. and Louise Rockwell Selkregg. She lived most of her life in North East, moving to Traveler's Rest Resort, Dade City, Florida after retirement in 1979. Genevieve was a professional librarian and worked in libraries in Washington , D.C. and Pittsburgh, then leaving the profession to become a full time mother and homemaker. Later, she served as the first librarian of the North East High School Library, 1958-1974. She graduated from North East High School in 1932. She attended the University of Pittsburgh, graduating in 1936, and Pratt University (then Institute), Brooklyn, N.Y., receiving a master of library science degree in 1937. She pursued continuing education at Syracuse University. Genevieve was a volunteer in many community activities in North East, including the Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts. She was a life member of the Shiloh Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, North East, serving as its Secretary for many years. She was a life-long member of the First Presbyterian Church of North East, serving as a member of the Board of Trustees. She enjoyed sewing and knitting, reading, square dancing, amateur theatrics, photography, camping and traveling throughout the world. For over 40 years, she and her husband were avid Airstream caravaners. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Clair K. Hoffman. Survivors include a daughter, Mary H. Choisser of Orange Park, F la.; two sons, John Hoffman and his wife Sally, of Green Valley, Ariz., and Charles Hoffman of Tampa, Fla.; a brother, Edward M. (Ted) Selkregg, Jr. and his wife Kathy of Lakeland, Fla.; four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, nephews and nieces. Burial will be private at Oak Hill Cemetery, North East, Pa. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hernando Pasco Hospice, Dade City, FL 33525.

JORDAN, Rufus, age 58, of Dade City, passed away August 4, 2003. He is survived by his loving wife, Marjorie; sons, Jerome (Dora Lynn) of Homosassa, Fla., Tony (Donna) of Dade City and Dannie (Julie) of Dade City; and eight grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, August 7, 2003 at Oakley Funeral Home in Dade City. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Gardens Cemetery in Dade City. She is survived by her son, Alden Tucker of Plant City, Fla.; daughters, Sandra (Dennis) of Beloit, Wis., and Fay e (Jim) of Lebanon, Maine; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her first husband, of fifty years, Millard Tucker who died in 1982 and her second husband Harold `Bud` Keene who died in 1999 and one son Glenn Eugene Tucker who died in 1954 at the age of 21. A memorial service will be held at The Church Of The Living Word on Saturday August 9, 2003 at 10 am. In lieu, of flowers a donation may be made to The Hernando-Pasco Hospice Care Center in Dade City.

She was a homemaker, member St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church of Holiday, member Ladies Guild St. Vincent de Paul, member Ladies Auxiliary of Knights of Columbus of Port Richey, member Widow & Widowers Club of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church of New Port Richey, member Elkettes of New Port Richey, member Pasco County Widowed People Together, and member Long Island West Coast Retiree. Survivors include son, Roy (Lorrane) Langer, New Windsor, N.Y.; daughter, Jane (Richard) Green Holiday, Fla.; 13 grandchildren, five great grandchildren, several nephews and nieces.

MEAD, Charles Lincoln, went to be with his Lord on August 6, 2003, after a long courageous battle with cancer. He is survived by his devoted wife of 56 years, Marjorie; sons, Gerald and Owen; six grand children and one great grandchild, all of Zephyrhills; plus some cousins in Seymour, Connecticut. He was born in Norwalk, Conn. on December 25, 1920. He attended local schools there and also graduated from Yale New Haven School of Pharmacy. He owned and operated Mead's Drug Store in Norwalk for many years before moving to Florida in 1975. He served in the Army Air Force during World War II in the European Theatre of operations. He belonged to the First United Methodist Church and performed in many productions there as a percussionist. He also played drums in the `Music Makers` Band and earned the title of `Crazy Charlie` with his antics while playing. He was a member of the local DAV (Disabled Amer Veterans). Burial will be private and a memorial service will be announced shortly. Contributions to Hospice would be greatly appreciated.
