Joel Maxwell Williams of Slocomb, Ala., 65, died at his residence on Saturday, July 12, 2003, after a short illness. Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. today, Sunday, July 13, at Williams Funeral Home of Graceville.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, July 14, at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church.

Linda Joy Reardon, 48, of Hamilton, Va. died July 14, 2003, in Hospice of Northern Virginia Hospital.

She was born July 3, 1955 in Pennsylvania to Arthur and Lillian Ratcliff. She was a member of Harmony United Methodist Church of Hamilton, Va.

She is survived by sons, Jason Reardon of Martisburg, W. Va. and Eric Reardon of Jacksonville; brothers, Bruce Ratcliff of Severna Park, Md., David Ratcliff of Aldie, Va., Douglas Ratcliff of Winchester, Va. and Roger Ratcliff of Berryville, Va.; and two grandchildren.

Services will be held by the Rev. Waverly Reames at the funeral home on Wednesday, July 16, at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery of Hamilton, Va.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, July 15, at Hall Funeral Home of Purcellville, Va. from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Hospices of the National Capital Region, 9300 Lee Highway, Suite 500, Fairfax, Va. 22031-1207.

Arrangements are by Hall Funeral Home of Purcellville.

Josephine Stone, 83, of Marianna died Monday, July 14, 2003, at Jackson Hospital.

A native of Bellefontaine, Ohio, she was a homemaker and attended Evangel Worship Assembly of God Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Otis B. Stone, and a daughter, Naomi Collins.

She is survived by one son, Charles Leroy Stone of Marianna; two daughters, Patricia Shepard and her husband, Dean of Huntsville, Ohio and Carolyn Stone of Marianna; one brother, Robert Shoffner of Bellefontaine; seven grandchildren, Chris Stone, Stephanie Stone, Brian Shepard, Derek Shepard and his wife, Crystal, Robert Collins, Paul Collins and Cindy Ace; and four great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 17, at Maddox Chapel with Pastor Christine W. Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Pinecrest Memory Gardens with James and Sikes Funeral Home, Maddox Chapel directing.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 16, at the funeral home.

C.G. Edenfield, 49, of Grand Ridge died Wednesday, July 16, 2003, in Jackson Hospital. He was a lifelong resident of this area. He was a Baptist by faith. He loved to fish and play with his grandchildren and he was good at doing both! He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bryant Edenfield; an infant son, Charles Derek Edenfield; half brother, Frankie; and a sister, Pauline Jones. He is survived by a longtime companion and best friend for over 25 years, Jane McClendon Hicks of Marianna; three daughters, Crystal Davis and her husband, Josh of Altha, Angela Coulliette and her husband, Ricky, and Heather Raines and her husband, Joey, and a step-daughter, Dana Shively, all of Marianna; one step-son, Wade McClendon of Marianna; three brothers, Ronald Edenfield of Tampa, Paul Edenfield of Fountain, and Michael Edenfield of Grand Ridge; three sisters, Carolyn Allen of Sneads, Mary Alice Neal of Tampa, and Dianne Phillips of Chattahoochee; 11 grandchildren; and numerous nephews and nieces. The funeral will be held Sunday, July 20, at 2 p.m. in the Marianna Chapel Funeral Home with Pastor Lavon Pettis officiating. Burial will be in the Shady Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Saturday, July 19, in the Marianna Chapel Funeral Home.

Lucien Thomas Johns, 68, of Sunland Training Center died Thursday, July 17, 2003, in Jackson Hospital. He had been a resident of this area since 1955 after moving here from Georgia. He was a missionary Baptist by faith. He loved his mashed potatoes and greens and he enjoyed sitting in his chair and flipping objects. He has lots of friends that will greatly miss him there at the center. The funeral will be held Tuesday, July 22, at 10 a.m. in the chapel at Sunland Training Center with Chaplain Ruth Moore officiating. The body will lie in the chapel one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. Marianna Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.

Pauline "Polly" Bevis Grant, 80, of Pompano Beach, Fla., died Saturday, July 19, 2003, in Hollywood, Fla. A former resident of Jackson County, she is survived by her husband, Leslie Grant of Pompano Beach, and many other loving family members.Service arrangements are incomplete at this time.

Mr. Robert Lamar Uptagrafft, 50, of Marianna, died Saturday, July 19, 2003, following a sudden illness. Mr. Uptagrafft was employed by the State of Florida as a park ranger at the Florida State Caverns, Marianna, Fla. Mr. Uptagrafft is survived by his wife, Mrs. Catherine Uptagrafft of Marianna; his brother, Mr. Curtis Uptagrafft of Marianna; and a sister, Mrs. Shirley Moss of Bonifay, Fla. Funeral services are incomplete at this time and will be announced by Lord Funeral Home of Marianna. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to St. Judes or the Methodist Childrens Home.

Mr. C. G. Edenfield, 49, of Grand Ridge, died Wednesday, July 16, 2003, in Jackson Hospital. Services for Mr. Edenfield will be held at 2 p.m. today, Sunday, July 20, in the Marianna Chapel Funeral Home with Pastor Lavon Pettis officiating. Mrs. Maria Angelica Padron, 46, of Selma, N. C., died Wednesday, July 16, 2003, in Sneads.

No local services are planned. Burial will be at a later date in Rio Bravo, Mexico. Marianna Chapel Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.xxxxxxxx

Marlene H. Henderson, 62, of Marianna, who was a licensed practical nurse at Apalachee Correctional Institution in Sneads, died Saturday, July 18, 2003 at Jackson Hospital, following a brief illness.

She was a native of Ware, Mass., and had lived in Marianna for 30 years, where she was a member of the First Baptist Church of Marianna and of the Eastern Star Marianna Chapter No. 129.

She was preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Shirley Hurst and her son Harold V. Doyle Jr.

Survivors include one daughter, Barbara Davis, and her husband Lavoy; one son, Alan Doyle, all of Fort Meade, Fla.; one brother, Robert E. Hurst of Allons, Tenn.; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be held Monday, July 21 at 10 a.m. CDT at Maddox Chapel with Rev. Bob Magruder officiating. Burial will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens with James and Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.

An Eastern Star service will be held at 4:30 p.m. today, Sunday, at Maddox Chapel, and the family will continue receiving friends until 7 p.m.

Olivia Sellars (Libby) Goodwin, 58, of Quincy died Saturday, July 19, 2003, in Quincy.

She was born in Recovery, Ga. and moved to Quincy in 1964. She was a retired human resource director for Weavexx in Quincy. She was also a member of the Centenary United Methodist Church in Quincy.

She is survived by her husband, Charles F. Goodwin of Quincy; daughter and son-in-law, Denise and Bert Fletcher of Quincy; son and his fiancee, Chuck Goodwin and Stephanie Wells of Atlanta, Ga.; granddaughters, Olivia and Kay Fletcher of Quincy; sisters, Mary Linder and Roberta Lewis of Recovery, Ga.; brothers, Glenn Sellars of Recovery, Ga.; and Howard Sellars of Chattahoochee; and a very special sister-in-law, Lovida Goodwin Ellis of Sneads.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. today, Tuesday, July 22, at Centenary United Methodist Church in Quincy. Burial will be at Hillcrest Cemetery in Quincy.

The family received friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday, July 21, at the McClellan Funeral Home in Quincy.

Memorial contributions may be made to Recovery UMC, 330 Booster Club Rd., Bainbridge, Ga. 39819; or Centenary UMC, 206 N. Madison St., Quincy, Fla. 32351.

Robert Lamar Uptagrafft, 50, of Marianna died Saturday, July 19, 2003.

He was employed by the State of Florida Department of Environmental Protection as a park ranger at the Florida State Caverns in Marianna.

He loved people and sharing his fun stories with them. He loved nature and fishing, and he loved his God and family.

He is survived by his loving wife of 18 years, Catherine Uptagrafft of Marianna; one brother, Curtis Ray Uptagrafft of Marianna; one sister, Shirley Moss and her husband, Roger, of Bonifay; and one niece, Jennifer Neitsch and her husband, Jeff and children.

The funeral will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, July 23, at Lord Funeral Home with the Revs. Fred Zeigler and Dr. Frank Hyles officiating. Burial will be at Pinecrest Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. today, Tuesday, July 22, at the funeral home.

Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, P.O. Box 3704, Memphis, TN 38103, or the United Methodist Children's Home, P.O. Box 830, Selma, AL 36702.

Polly Bevis Grant, 80, of Pompano Beach died Saturday, July 19, 2003, in Ft. Lauderdale.

She was a native Vernon and graduated from Marianna High School. She and her family moved to Miami in 1948. She and her husband, Leslie, co-authored the Bevis family history book, and acculated over 5000 descendants of William Langley Bevis, who moved to Jackson County in 1855. She was the great-great-granddaughter of Andrew Elton Williams, for whom the annual Williams reunion is celebrated each year at Gallilee Methodist Church in Jackson County.

She is survived by her husband, Leslie L. Grant of Pompano Beach; two daughters, Lynda Killingsworth and her husband, Charles of Cooper City, and Ann Gauthier and her husband, Clifton of Davie; two brothers, William "Bill" Bevis and Russell Bevis, both of Tallahassee; four grandchildren, John Brenton Killingsworth and his wife, Stephanie of West Palm, Charles Grant Killingsworth of Miami Beach, Leslie Gauthier Nottingham and her husband, D.J. of Port Charlotte and Clifton Bradley Gauthier of Davie; and one great-granddaughter, Abey Leigh Nottingham of Port Charlotte.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. EDT, Friday, July 25, at Bevis Funeral Home Chapel in Tallahassee. Burial will be at Bascom Methodist Church Cemetery at 1 p.m. CST, Friday, July 25, in Bascom.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral at the funeral home.

Fred Sapp, 88, of Cottondale died Sunday, July 20, 2003, in the Bay Medical Center.

He was a lifelong resident of this area. He retired from Elberta Crate & Box Company as a machinist. He was a member of the Salem Freewill Baptist Church for over 53 years and a deacon for over 20 years. He was a loving and tender hearted man who loved everyone and made everyone a part of his life.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Minnie L. Sapp in 2002.

He is survived by four sisters, Lizzie Wilkes, Myrtle Wilkes, Lucille Wilkes and Nellie Dick; a special nephew, Charles Sapp and his wife, Reba of South Port; other nephews and nieces and a host of cousins; and many devoted friends who will greatly miss Mr. Fred.

The funeral will be held Wednesday, July 23, at 2 p.m. in the Salem Freewill Baptist Church in Kynesville with Pastors Donnie Hussey and Ronnie Wright officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends this evening, July 22, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. in the Marianna Chapel Funeral Home.

Dorothy Baxter, 82, of Bascom died Monday, July 21, 2003, in Bascom.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by James and Sikes Funeral Home, Maddox Chapel.

Dan Brown, 49, of Tallahassee died Monday, July 21, 2003, in Tallahassee.

He was a native of Boston, Mass., and had lived in Tallahassee since 1974. He was a U.S. Army veteran and former Post Office worker. He was an avid sportsman and member of Premier Health and Fitness Center.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Donna Brown; mother, Shirley Brown; and sister, Sandra Hindergardener.

He is survived by his father, Oscar V. Brown and his wife, Jean of Sneads; two brothers, Robert John Brown, and Van Brown and his wife, Diana of Valparaiso; two sisters, Tonia DeMarco and her husband, John, of Alford, and Kristy Brogdon and her husband, Ricky, of Marianna; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. EDT Friday, July 25, at Culley's MeadowWood Funeral Home, Timberlane Road Chapel in Tallahassee. Burial will be at Culley's MeadowWood Memorial Park in Tallahassee.

The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. Thursday, July 24, at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, 241 John Knox Road, Suite 100, Tallahassee, Fla. 32303.

Flossie E. Bedsole, 46, of Graceville died Monday, July 21, 2003, at Campbellton-Graceville Hospital following a sudden illness.

She was born in Graceville on Jan. 15, 1957. She was a 1975 graduate of Graceville High School and was employed with Turner Research of Graceville. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Graceville.

She was preceded in death by her father, John W. Bedsole, and step-father, John Frank Hagan.

She is survived by her mother , Betty Grant Hagan of Graceville; daughters, Andrea L. Massey of Panama City and Leigh G. Massey of Graceville; brothers, John Charles "Charlie" Bedsole of Gordo, Ala., and Clayton Frank "Clay" Hagan of Panama City; aunt, Ellene G. Vance and her husband, John of Birmingham, Ala.; Mary Grant of Dothan, Ala.; and several nephews and cousins.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 23, at the First Baptist Church of Graceville with Dr. E.W. "Bud" Ware, Dr. Bob Johnson and Dr. Jerry Windsor officiating. Cremation will follow under the direction of James and Lipford Funeral Home in Graceville. The family will receive friends at their home, 5332 Ceiley St.

In lieu of flowers the family request that memorials be made to the First Baptist Church of Graceville, P.O. Box 565, Graceville, Fla. 32440.
