Glenn D. Thomas, 62, of Phenix City, Ala., died Saturday, Aug. 30, 2003, at his home.

He was born Feb. 3, 1941, in Jackson County, son of the late Herbert Thomas and Irene Cutchin Thomas. He was a U.S. Army veteran, member of the Landmark Church of The Nazarene, and was a retired general contractor who owned and operated various businesses.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Carol Jean Stephens Thomas.

Survivors include his wife, Janet Fulgham Leonard Thomas; his daughter, Lisa Thomas Hay, and her husband, Mack, of Trinity, Texas ; step-daughters Misty Leonard Mickelson, and husband, Jeff, of Phenix City, Ala., Dani Leigh Leonard Gladish, and husband, Mike, of Smiths, Ala.; grandchildren Tanner McIver Hay, Parker Thomas Hay, Bryce Allen Mickelson and Ethan Taylor Gladish; sisters, Alice Capps of Lakeland, Mamie Haywood of Phenix City, Ala., Dorothy Sims of Marianna and Shirley Bryant of Lehigh Acres; and a brother, Jennings Thomas of Marianna.

The funeral was held at 11 a.m. Monday at Landmark Church of The Nazarene, Idle Hour Drive, Phenix City, Ala., with the Rev. Gary Tankersley and Dr. Wayne Scarborough officiating, according to Vance Memorial Chapel. Active pallbearers were Ron Bonifas, Scott Denney, David Denney, Will Denney, Tim Allen and Richard Hardy. Honorary pallbearers were Bob Allen, Arthur Miller, Larry Harris, Austin McAllister, Jack Tibbs, Clinton Stephens, Freddie DeMarsh and Red Johnson. Burial followed at Lakeview Memory Gardens.

The family received friends Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Landmark Church of the Nazarene Building Fund.

Dale Grice, 57, of 9113 South County Road 81, Gordon, Ala., died Saturday, Aug. 30, 2003, at the Southeast Alabama Medical Center after an extended illness.

She was born on Nov. 18, 1945, in Jackson County. She was a homemaker and a member of Bethlehem Assembly of God Church in Gordon.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Winston Jacobs and Hettie Smith Jacobs, and a sister, Mary Lou Elmore.

She is survived by her husband, Sam Nathan Grice of Gordon, Ala.; two daughters, Linda Grice Holland of Dothan and Patricia Grice Williams of Basile, La; three grandchildren, Jordan, Jennifer and Jeremy Holland, all of Dothan; a brother, John Jacobs, and wife, Jackie, of Birmingham, Ala.; sisters Ethel Tucker of Winter Haven, Hettie Mae Bell, and husband Winford of Malone, Ollie Mae Sullivan of Marianna, Dorothy Mathis and husband Douglas of Malone, Flora Beard and husband Ken of Malone, and Tina Sims of Marianna; a brother-in-law, Herman Grice and wife Sandy of Eufaula, Ala.; and a host of nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. today, Tuesday, Sept. 2, at Bethlehem Assembly of God Church in Gordon. Officiating will be Rev. John Lucas and Steve Scarbarough. Burial will immediately follow the service in the church cemetery. Visitation was Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Kent-Thornton-Meadows Dothan. Active pallbearers will be Lester Adams, Keith Grice, Michael Adams, Anthony Sims, James Caraway and Charles Caraway.

William Evans, 78, of Enterprise, Ala., died Sunday, Aug. 31, 2003, in Enterprise.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Oliver and Tessie Evans; three sisters, Gracie Merle Myers, Louise Paschal and Lucille Hurst; and a granddaughter, Selena Kaye Martin.

Survivors include his wife, Mildred Evans of Enterprise; a son, Ealie Evans of Malone; a step-daughter, Joyce Rudd of Atlanta, Ga.; a step-son, Jimmy (Gayle) Martin of Enterprise; three granddaughters, Jennifer (David) Jelinek of Atlanta, Fischer Reed of Atlanta, Ketena Martin of Enterprise, a brother, Castilla (Bonnie) Evans of Phenix City, Ala., a special brother-in-law, Nigel Hurst of Enterprise; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. today, Tuesday, Sept. 2, at Searcy Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Ted Satterfield officiating. Burial will follow in Meadowlawn Cemetery with Searcy Funeral Home directing. The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 1, at the funeral home.

Madie Estelle Jones McAnulty, 86, of Dothan, Ala., and formerly of Malone, died Sunday, Aug. 31, 2003, at the Southeast Alabama Medical Center following a brief illness.

She was born on June 10, 1917, in Jackson County, the daughter of the late Nathaniel Wright Jones and Lillie Dell King Jones. She moved to Dothan in 1973 from Malone. She was a member of the Grandview Baptist Church and she worked as a homemaker for her entire lifetime.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband James Willard McAnulty in 1997; two sons, James Harold McAnulty and Pharies Bernard (Bud) Petty; a grandson, Marshall Scott (Marty) Shiver; two brothers and three sisters.

Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Joyce and John Shiver of Dothan, Kathy Walson of Dothan, Losue and Robert Hagler of Malone; one son, John McAnulty of Gadsden, Ala., and 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 3, at the Grandview Baptist Church with Dr. Lee Singley officiating. Burial will follow in the Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery in Malone with Ward-Wilson Memory Hill Funeral Home directing. Active pallbearers will be Josh Cobb, Shane Cobb, Tim Herring, Paul Shiver, Daks Hogan and Charles Watson.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. At other times, the family will be at the home of a daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and John Shiver, 1512 Shrewsbury Drive, Dothan, Ala. 36301. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Wiregrass Hospice Inc., P.O. Drawer 2127, Dothan, Ala. 36302.

Funeral services for Jessica Stevens, 11, of Cottondale, will be held today, Tuesday, Sept. 2, at 11 a.m. at Piney Grove Baptist Church in Cottondale with the Rev. Jackie Register officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with James and Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.

Yulia Y. Khoraychuk, 96, of Marianna, died Sunday, Aug. 31, 2003, at the Medical Center in Dothan. Arrangements will be announced by James and Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel of Marianna.

Charles Casper Lambert, 85, of Greenwood, died Monday, Sept. 1, 2003, in a Marianna nursing home. Arrangements will be announced by James and Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel of Marianna.

Veronica McCollough-Melton, 42, of 5264 10th Ave., in Malone, died Friday, Aug. 29, 2003, in Jackson Hospital.

She was a native and lifelong resident of Jackson County. She was converted at an early age and joined the Mt. Nebo Baptist Church in Gordon, Ala.

She was employed at the Westpoint Stevens Corp. in Chipley as a seamstress.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil Melton, and her mother, Gertha Clark McCollough.

She is survived by her father, Joseph J. McCollough Jr., and wife Brenda of Bascom; four brothers, Michael E. McCollough and wife Gwendolyn of Gulf Breeze, Carl E. McCollough and wife Sallye of Bascom, Lewis McCollough and wife Edora of Chattahoochee, and Jason McCollough of Sneads; one sister, Velisa L. McElroy of Malone; four nephews that she loved as her own, LaDarius, Brandon, Brian and Quinton McElroy-Lee, all of Malone; and a loyal and devoted friend, Mary Lou Smith of Malone.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 3, at the New Hope Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. L.V. Farmer, pastor, and Revs. Walter McCalister, Kevin Williams and Aldric Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Peoples Funeral Home of Marianna directing.

The body will lie at the church from 10 a.m. Wednesday until time for the funeral.

Laurence "Larry" Franklin Sullivan, 61, of Greenwood died at his residence on Wednesday, September 3, 2003.

He was a resident of this area for over 25 years. He worked as a house parent for the Juvenile Justice and State of Florida Division of Forestry for over 30 years combined. He loved his family, especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed listening to music, playing his guitar and watching football.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James A. and Edith Sullivan.

He is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 17 years, Sarah T. Sullivan of Greenwood; three sons, Roy Hires of Bonifay, Frank Hires of Marianna, and John L. Sullivan of Kissimmee; seven daughters, Cheryl Mathis of Greenwood, Loretta Shaw and her husband, Darrell of Malone, Julie Elaklam of Kissimmee, Debbie Elaine Sullivan, Edith Sullivan, Sandy Lee Sullivan and Laura Lynn Sullivan; one brother, James A. Sullivan Jr. of Pinellas Park; one sister, Sue Lovice of Payson, Ariz.; and 12 grandchildren, Miranda and John David Clemmons, Tiffany, Takoda and Lorna Shaw, Brittany, Tiffany, Michelle, Brandon and Devan Hires, Gabriel Elaklam and Reagan Sullivan.

The funeral will be held Friday, September 5, at 10 a.m. at Marianna Chapel Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Pinecrest Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends this evening, Thursday, September 4, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

The funeral for Charles Lambert will be held at 10 a.m. today, Thursday, at Welcome Assembly of God Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery, James and Sikes Funeral Home, Maddox Chapel directing.

Nella Daniels, 89, of Alford died Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2003, at Jackson Hospital.

She was a lifelong resident of Jackson County. She was a homemaker, a member of Pine Ridge Baptist Church, where she played the piano for many years. She enjoyed her gardening, cooking and serving the Lord.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin Franklin Daniels.

She is survived by her daughter, Margaret Slay of Alford; and two grandson, Marty Slay of Marianna and Robbie Slay of San Antonio, Texas .

The funeral will be held today, Friday, Sept. 5, at 2 p.m. CDT at Maddox Chapel with the Rev. Bill Wheeler officiating. Burial will be in Hickory Level Cemetery with James and Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel of Marianna directing.

The family received friends Thursday from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Maddox Chapel.

Laurence "Larry" Franklin Sullivan, 61, of Greenwood died at his residence on Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2003.

The funeral will be held today, Friday, Sept. 5, at 10 a.m. at Marianna Chapel Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Pinecrest Memory Gardens.

G.W. Wright, 91, of Marianna died Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2003, at his residence.

He was a resident of Jackson County since 1931, moving here from Holmes County. He was a retired farmer, a school bus driver and the sheriff of the voting polls in Jackson County. He was a member of the New Salem Baptist Church and loved to fish.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Cassie; one son, William (Nig) Wright; and one daughter, Carolyn Foran.

He is survived by: five sons, Ernie (Buck) Wright and his wife, Faye of Marshallville, Ga., Jerome Wright and his wife, Becky of Marianna, Tonnie (Sol) Wright and his wife, Phyllis of Marianna, Lonnie (Bud) Wright and his wife, Joan of DeFuniak Springs, and Ronnie Wright and his wife, Sarah of Marianna; five daughters, Sue Foran, Linda Land and her husband, John, Dale Burnett and her husband, Wayne, all of Marianna, Wanda Zorn and her husband, Joe of Pensacola, and Jacqeline Shows and her husband, Johnny of Harlem, Ga.; one brother, Robert J. (Bob) Wright of Marianna; one sister, Myrtle Williams of Marianna; 33 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and numerous nephews and nieces.

The funeral will be held Saturday, Sept. 6, at 10 a.m. in the Marianna Chapel Funeral Home with Pastor Don Wilson officiating. Burial will be in the New Salem Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends this evening, Friday, Sept. 5, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the Marianna Chapel Funeral Home.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Covenant Hospice of Marianna, 4349 Lafayette St., Building No, 2, Marianna, FL 32446, or the New Salem Baptist Church Building Fund, 3478 Kynesville Road, Marianna, FL 32448.

Titus Edward Andrews

Mr. Titus Edward Andrews of Bryant Road, Slocomb, died Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2003, at Flowers Hospital after an extended illness. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 8, at Countyline Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Ernest Small of Agape Centered Fellowship officiating. Burial will follow at Countyline Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Levite Funeral Home.

Levite Funeral Home of Dothan, 334-794-5036, is in charge of arrangements.

Mamie White Bottoms

Mrs. Mamie White Bottoms, Slocomb, died Sunday morning, Sept. 7, 2003, at her home after a lengthy illness. She was 94. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 9, at 2 p.m. in the Fadette Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Johnny Strickland and the Rev. Charles Littlefield officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home of Slocomb directing. The body will be placed in the church one hour before service time. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday evening, Sept. 8, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.

Sorrells Funeral Home of Slocomb, 334-886-7777, is in charge of arrangements.
