ANNIE LOU KNOWLES, 58, of Haines City died Wednesday at Heart of Florida Hospital. A native of Loughman, she was a lifelong area resident, homemaker and Baptist. She is survived by her father, Elzie D. Stewart of Haines City; two sisters, Mavis Farley and Marie Alice Overstreet, both of Winter Haven; two brothers, Leo Stewart of Davenport and John Stewart of Groveland; and three grandchildren. VERA M. LIND, 83, of Polk City and formerly of Dunedin died Tuesday at home. She moved to this area from Akron, Ohio, lived here several years and then moved to Polk City. She was a secretary for Keller Sales and other businesses in Dunedin and Clearwater and Protestant. She is survived by three brothers, Vernon W. of Bryson City, N.C., Willard M. of Lakeland and Edgar R. of Polk City; and several nieces and nephews. Moss-Feaster Funeral Home, Dunedin Chapel.

JOHN C. LOCKHART JR., 71, of Lake Toxaway, N.C., died Jan. 13 in Winter Haven. A native of Roanoke, Va., he moved to Lake Toxaway in 1990 after 33 years as a resident of Winter Haven. He retired from the Postal Service in Winter Haven and was a World War II Navy veteran and member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and Winter Haven High School Booster Club. He is survived by his wife, Julia B.; two sons, John C. of Winter Haven and Jeff L. of Clearwater; and five grandchildren. Family Funeral Services, Winter Haven.

ROSEMARY R. NETHERTON, 69, of Hudson died Wednesday at Arbors at Bayonet Point. An Ohio native, she moved to Hudson last year from Tarpon Springs and also lived in Lakeland from 1973 to 1992. She was a homemaker, Methodist and a volunteer with the Salvation Army. She is survived by two sisters, Amy Vincek of Florida and Shirley Floro of Ohio, and a nephew. ROBERT EDWIN OSWALD, 75, of Lakeland died Wednesday at home. A native of Decatur, Ill., he came to this area from Illinois 39 years ago and worked as a truck driver. He was Protestant and a World War II Navy veteran. He is survived by two sons, Kim Edwin of Lakeland and Joseph Wayne of Antigo, Wis.; a daughter, Marcia Kay of Lakeland; a brother, Earl of Port Richey; three sisters, Dorothy Whitesell of Sarasota, Lucille Revis of Decatur and Allegra Nabor of Macon, Ill.; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. MAUDE ELLA PARRISH, 89, of Winter Haven died Tuesday at Brandywyne Health Care & Assisted Living Center. A native of Houston County, Ala., she came to Polk County 46 years ago from Chattahoochee. She was a homemaker and member of First Freewill Baptist Church of Auburndale. She is survived by three sons, James E. and Dick, both of Winter Haven, and Bill of Auburndale; a daughter, Margie Hughes of Gordon, Ala.; 19 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren. TONY DUNG QUOC TRAN, 36, of Auburndale died Wednesday at Lakeland Regional Medical Center. A native of Vietnam, he moved to Auburndale two years ago from San Diego and worked as a cook for Shanho Chinese Restaurant in Bartow. He was Catholic. MARY EDNA TUCKER, 73, of Lake Wales died Tuesday at Lake Wales Medical Centers Inc. Extended-Care Facility. A native of Gretna, she moved to this area from DeLand 65 years ago. She was a homemaker and member of First Born Church of the Living God. She is survived by two daughters, Rose Mary Williams of Lake Wales and Pearl Katz of Brooklyn, N.Y.; 10 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. Epps Mortuary, Lake Wales.

STEPHEN VARGO, 77, of Haines City died Tuesday at Winter Haven Hospital. A native of Bridgeport, Conn., he came to this area in 1990 from Belding, Mich., where he retired in 1985 as director of purchasing for Extruded Metals Inc. He was a volunteer with youth organizations, a World War II Army Air Corps veteran, a Paul Harris Fellow of Rotary International and member of Belding American Legion. He had served as president of Belding Rotary Club and the Fishing & Hunting Club and Elks Lodge, both in Ionia, Mich. He is survived by his wife, Katherine; a son, Martin M. of Longmont, Colo.; a daughter, Katherine A. of McLean, Va.; a sister, Anne Powers of Chicago; and two grandchildren. FRANCIS "FRANK" E. HEALD, 73, of Hudson died Wednesday at Columbia Regional Medical Center at Bayonet Point. A native of Paterson, N.J., he moved to this area 18 years ago from Warner Robbins, Ga. He was a retired Navy Quartermaster, veteran of World War II and the Korean War, member of American Legion in New Port Richey, Fleet Reserve and Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Masons in Tampa. He is survived by his wife, Glenda; two sons, Ronald of Lizella, Ga., and Ken Corlee of Tampa; a daughter, Delice Corlee of Orlando; two sisters, Mary Dormeus of Lakeland, and Phoebe Love of Las Vegas, Nev.; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
