He was retired from Phelps- Dodge Refinery in New York, an Army veteran of World War II and a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Holiday, the Knights of Columbus in New York and the Holy Name Society. ALFRED JOHN "JACK" STROUD, 64, of Lake Wales died Tuesday at Lake Wales Medical Centers Inc. Extended-Care Facility. A native of Sayre, Pa., he moved to this area in 1978 from Pontiac, Mich. He retired in 1989 as the original editor of the Avon Park News and formerly worked as managing editor of the Lake Wales Highlander and South Haven (Mich.)
