Versa Lee Jones Whitehead, 78, of Cottondale died in Mobile, Ala.
She was a lifelong resident of Cottondale. She was of the Holiness faith and a member of the Sweet Gum Holiness Church. She was born Aug. 29, 1925 in Washington County to Monroe and Lvella (Sapp) Corbin.
She is survived by two sons, Robert Adams and Kenny Jones, both of Chipley; two daughters, Darlene Sumner of Opelika, Ala. and Merlene Bakr of Dothan, Ala.; two brothers, Clyde Corbin and Eugene Corbin, both of Chipley; two sisters, Nadine Kent and Emma Jones, both of Chipley; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, in the Wachob Chapel with the Rev. James Vickery officiating. Burial will be in the Salem Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery
with Brown Funeral Home directing.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 12, at the Wachob Chapel.
Charles Henry Jones, 71, of Malone, died Friday, Sept. 12, 2003, at his residence.
He was a lifelong resident of this area and a member of the Friendship Baptist Church. He loved old time gospel and bluegrass music and could play most of the instruments. He enjoyed his horse and wagon and vacationing in the Smokey Mountains. Most of all, he loved his family.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 52 years, Glendora Faye Jones, of Malone; four sons Dale Jones and wife Tammy, of Chipley, Tommy Jones and wife Cathy, of Tallahassee, Jimmy Jones and wife Angela, of Malone, and Billy Jones and wife Karen, of Cottondale; one daughter Glenda Jones and friend Jim Austin, of Bascom; one sister Vermell Hall, of Malone; 10 grandchildren Keith, Jesse, Jermey, Amanda, Kevin, Lindsey, Andrea, Ciara and Kayla Jones, Kaitlan and Kaylee Taylor, Melinda Baxter and Crystal Evans; four great-grandchildren and a special niece, Judy Brown.
The funeral was held Monday, Sept. 15, 2003, at 10 a.m. in the Friendship Baptist Church with Brother Van Clack and the Rev. John Smith officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
The family received friends Sunday, Sept. 14, 2003, from 6-8 p.m. at the Marianna Chapel Funeral Home.
Raymond Colin Charles, 50, of Marianna died Sunday, Sept. 14, 2003, in Jackson County Hospital.
He was born in Chattahoochee and resided most of his life in Marianna. He was a truck driver fro Thomas Trucking. He loved his 18-wheeler and spent his leisure time fishing. He cared deeply for his mother. He was a member of the Light House Community Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. Melton and Ruby Charles; a brother, William Edward Charles; and a sister, Mary Frances Charles.
He is survived by his loving wife, Rhonda Charles of Marianna; two sons, Tyler Charles of Marianna, and Raymond Charles II of Hamburg, Pa.; one daughter, Pennie Charles of Quincy; one brother, Lavon Charles of Marianna; three sisters, Elizabeth Ann Fisher of Pensacola, Alice Elaine Zayatz of Jacksonville, and Martha Jane Martin of Chattahoochee; one grandchild, Courtnie Scalf; and his best friend and fishing buddy, Jimmy Hughes.
The funeral will be held today, Tuesday, Sept. 16, at 3 p.m. in the Marianna Chapel Funeral Home with Pastor Frances Dudley officiating. Burial will be in New Hope Baptist Cemetery.

Callie Shiver, 94, of Graceville died Monday, Sept. 15, 2003, at Flowers Hospital in Dothan following an extended illness.
She was born in Graceville on July 11, 1909 to the late John Wesley and Mattie Osie Bruner Cooley. She was a homemaker and a member of New Home Baptist Church.
She is survived by her son, Doyle E. Shiver of Graceville; three daughters, Shirley Cantu of Austin, Texas , Lillian Odum of Graceville, and Sarah Wachtendorf of Marietta, Ga.; two sisters, Sarah Crutchfield of Chipley and Mattie Lou Ham of Graceville; 10 grandchildren, Edwin Shiver of Ozark, Ala., Debra McCaskey of Montgomery, Ala., Pam Meyer of Austin, Texas , Chris Odum of Ft. Walton Beach, Susan Odum of Lynn Haven, Donna Houck of Lexington Park, Md., Holly Williams of Slocomb, Ala., Kevin Odum of Graceville, Katrina Pennington of Woodstock, Ga. and Michael Wachtendorf of Marietta, Ga.; and 14 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 18, at New Hope Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Johnny Jones officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with James and Lipford Funeral Home directing.

Harold L. Moreland, 80, of Marianna died Sunday, Sept. 14, 2003, at Jackson Hospital in Marianna.
He was born in Little Rock, Ark. and lived in Fort Myers most of his life. He graduated from the University of Florida with a BS in soil chemistry. He lived in Europe for three years while he worked for the United Nations as a soil chemist. He was a member of the St. Luke's Episcopal Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria Moreland in 1998.
He is survived by one son, Carey L. Moreland of Orlando; two daughters, Marcia Wolfe of DeBary, and Laurie Dula of Freeport; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Pat and Ted Moreland, both of Ft. Myers.
A graveside service will be held in the family cemetery in Arcadia with James and Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel of Marianna directing.

William Perry, 82, of Marianna died Monday, Sept. 15, 2003, at Big Bend Hospice Center in Tallahassee.
He is survived by one son, Larry Perry of Crawfordville and one daughter, Glenda Stephens of Chattahoochee.
Arrangements will be announced by James and Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel.
Frederick A. Maegerle, 88, of Marianna died Sunday, Sept. 14, 2003, at his residence.
He was a native of Woodhaven, N.Y. and moved to Jackson County in 1982. He was retired from Caterpillar Tractor as a salesleader and a member of Victory Baptist Church in Sneads.
He is survived by his son, Robert Maegerle of Marianna; one daughter, Patee Voght and her husband, Brad of Milton; one granddaughter, Rita Anna Thrasher and her husband, Lee; one great-granddaughter, Carlyn Thrasher; and one great-grandson, Jonah Thrasher, all of Winston-Salem, N.C.
Services were held at 1 p.m. Sunday at James and Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel with the Rev. David Pipping officiating. Memorialization will be by cremation.
Robert Ray Kalar, 41, of 3700 Williams Drive, Sunland, Marianna, died Sunday evening, Sept. 14, 2003, at Sunland, Marianna.
He is survived by his father, Raymond Kalar of Fort Walton Beach; mother, Mary Beth Booth; and two sisters, Michele Kalar and Marcella Kalar, both of Ft. Walton Beach.
The funeral will be held Thursday, Sept. 18, at 10 a.m. from the United Sunland Chapel at Sunland Center in Marianna with the Rev. Ruth Moore officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the United Sunland Chapel one hour prior to the funeral.

Donald Goodson, 72, of White City died Monday, Sept. 15, 2003, at Bay St. Joseph Care and Rehab Center.
He was born April 2, 1931 in Rose Hill, Ala. and had lived in White City for the past 45 years. He was a papermaker at St. Joe Paper Company and retired after 39 years.
He is survived by his wife, Ida Goodson; one daughter, Becky Peacock and her husband, Ronnie; two sons, Carl Goodson and his wife, Penny, and Neil Goodson and his fiancee, Twila; grandchildren, David, Laura, Jennifer, Kaliegh, Chrystal, Martin, and Kim; one sister, Evelyn Ward and her husband, Odell; and five brothers, McCoy and his wife, Wilma, Tim and his wife, Merline, Wayne and his wife, Mary, Paul and his wife, Dot, and James and his wife, Nina.
He will be remembered for his love of gardening, fishing and hunting, but most of all he will be remembered for his love of being with his large family who love and will miss him very much.
A graveside service will be held Thursday, Sept. 18, at Holly Hill Cemetery
at 11 a.m. EDT with the Rev. Roland Rabon officiating.
A viewing will be held Wednesday from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. EDT at Comforter Funeral Home in Port St. Joe.
Ora Peacock Chambless, 94, of Lynn Haven died Monday, Sept. 15, 2003, at home.
She was born in Marianna on Nov. 16, 1908. She graduated from Calhoun County High School and moved to Bay County in 1940. She taught school from 1928 through 1934 in West Bay, Defuniak Springs, Jackson County and Bay County at Hiland Park Elementary. She started selling Avon in 1962 and sold it until just before she died. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Lynn Haven.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dayton Chambless and one son, Madre Fred Chambless I.
She is survived by two sons, Rhudeen Chambless and his wife, Christine of Clarksville, and W.J. Chambless and his wife, JoAnne of Lynn Haven; one granddaughter, Rebecca Clement and her husband, Todd; four grandsons, Madre Fred Chambless II and his wife, Tamis, Christopher Chambless, Brian Chambless and Ricky Chambless; and one sister, Minnie Bell Ward of Marianna.

Bennie Perry, 82, of Marianna died Monday, Sept. 15, 2003, at Big Bend Hospice Center in Tallahassee.
He was a native of West Olive, Ala. and had lived in Marianna for the past 57 years. He served in the U.S. Army for four years, he worked and retired from Harrison Chevrolet-Buick in Marianna with more than 42 years of service as an auto mechanic and was a member of Trinity Baptist Church.
He is survived by one son, Larry Perry and his wife, Barbara of Crawfordville; one daughter, Glenda Shelton and her husband, Alvin of Chattahoochee; and four grandchildren.
