BOBBY WAYNE MATHIS SR.
Mr. Bobby Wayne Mathis Sr., age 69, was born in Steele, Mo., to Gerald and Faye Mathis, died Friday, Oct 15, 1999 in a local hospital of a sudden illness. SFC Bobby Mathis retired from the U.S. Army after 25 years of service, having served in Japan, Korea, Germany and Vietnam. The Bronze Star and Purple Heart were among the many medals he received during his years of service. Mr. Mathis is survived by his wife, Betty Jean Mathis of Lynn Haven, Fla.; children: Bobby W. Mathis Jr. and his wife Shirley of Wewahitchka, Fla., Sylvia Walsingham and her husband Bill of Panama City Beach, Fla., Russell Lee Mathis Sr. and his wife Janice of Lynn Haven, Fla., and Diane Mathis of Lynn Haven, Fla.; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; his mother, Ona Faye Mathis of Steele, Mo.; sisters: Peggy Mathis of Houston, Texas , Kay Rowe and her husband Bill of Houston, Texas , and Brenda Mathis of Steele, Mo.; and brothers: Landon Mathis of Steele, Mo., and Larry Mathis and his wife Carol of Haines City, Fla. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 18, at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. David B. Halstead Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Cemetery. Asked to serve as active pallbearers are Mr. Mathis' grandchildren: Candace Mathis, Timothy Grissett, Rodney Grissett, Zachery Mathis, Jefferey Walsingham, Allen Walsingham, Russell Lee Mathis Jr. and Kevin Mathis. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday, Oct. 17, from 6 to 8 p.m.

SHIRRAL MALLOY REGISTER
Shirral Malloy Register, age 58, of Chipley, Fla., passed away Thursday, Oct. 14, 1999 at Southeast Alabama Medical Center in Dothan, Ala. She was a lifelong resident of Chipley, Fla. Mrs. Register was of the Baptist faith and a member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Chipley. Survivors are her mother, Grace Malloy of Panama City; one son, Joe and wife Melissa Register of Chipley; one brother, Jimmy Malloy of Panama City and one granddaughter, Bethen Register of Chipley. Funeral services will be today, Oct. 16, at 10 a.m. in the Wachob Chapel with the Rev. Gary Wiggins officiating. Burial will follow in Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery with Brown Funeral Home directing.

GEORGE WADDELL
The Rev. George Waddell, 77, of 1406 Mississippi Ave., Lynn Haven, died Tuesday, Oct. 12, 1999 in National Health Care Facility. Funeral services for the Rev. Waddell will be held today, Oct. 16, at 11 a.m. in Greater Friendship Baptist Church with the Rev. Michael Newton, Pastor and the Rev. O.W. Waddell performing the eulogy. Interment will follow in Springfield AME Church Cemtery in Jackson County, Fla. The remains will lie in state one hour prior to services at the church. The family will receive friends at their residence of 1406 Mississippi Ave., Lynn Haven.

ROBERT L. CLAYTON
Mr. Robert L. Clayton, 68, of Port St. Joe died Saturday, Oct. 16, 1999, in a local hospital. Born in Bainbridge, Ga., he was a lifelong resident of Port St. Joe. Mr. Clayton was a veteran of the Korean Conflict while serving in the U.S. Air Force. He is preceded in death by his father Alva Clayton; mother, Jewell Pittman; and two brothers, Emmitt and Roger Clayton. Mr. Clayton is survived by his wife of 48 years, Bertha Clayton of Port St. Joe; two sons, Michael Clayton and wife Denise of Apalachicola, Fla., and Jeffrey Clayton and wife Terresa of Mexico Beach, Fla.; two daughters, Faye Capps and husband Freddie of Port St. Joe and Patricia Infinger of Stanley, N.C.; three sisters: Betty Varnes and husband Neil of Old Town, Fla., Angie Hare and husband Michael of Sneads, Fla., and Deborah of Sneads; two brothers, Larry Clayton and wife Kit of Tallahassee, Fla., and Donnie Clayton and wife Sandra of Panama City; eight granddaughters; three grandsons; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral service for Mr. Clayton will be Monday, Oct. 18, at 2 p.m. ET in the Gilmore-Southerland Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Holly Hill Cemetery. Mr. Clayton's nephews will serve as active pallbearers. The family will receive friends this evening from 6 to 8 p.m. ET at the funeral home.

OVEDIA M. FOUNTAIN
Mrs. Ovedia M. Fountain, 84, of 2100 Jenks Ave., Panama City, Fla., died Oct. 16, 1999, at a local nursing home. Mrs. Fountain was born in Southport and had been a lifelong resident of Bay County. She was a retired seamstress and had worked at Margaret Fashions in Panama City for 20 years. She was a member of First Assembly of God of Southport. She is survived by a son Clay Fountain and his wife Jennifer of Southport, Fla.; a sister Virgie Nichols of Lynn Haven, Fla.; granddaughters: Ashton Fountain, Ariel Callahan and Stephanie Alexander; a grandson, Ronnie Lee Watkins; sisters-in-law, Martha Beatrice Anglin and Kathleen Anglin. She is preceded in death by her husband John Clayton Fountain; daughters, Elizabeth Fountain and Linda Aaron; a sister, Eva Cantrell; and brothers, Mack Mason and Harry Mason. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 19, at First Assembly of God of Southport with the Rev. Nixon Miller and the Rev. Mike Parker officiating. Interment will follow at Old Southport Cemetery. Asked to serve as active pallbearers are: Willis Nelson, Robert Benefield, Edward Sapp, Drayle Mason, Field Mason and Jim Bossom. Honorary pallbearers will include: A.J. Richardson, Charles Sapp, Aubrey Lovett, James Glass, Darwin Glass, L.J. Kelley, Clarence McCormick, Archie Creamer and Agee Ellis. Arthur Lee Free, 90, of Marianna, died Friday, Oct. 15, 1999, in Marianna. Mr. Free was born in Bonifay but lived most of his life in Altha and Marianna. Mr. Free was a member of Philadelphia Church of God and a veteran of World War II. Mr. Free was predeceased by his wife U.Z. and son Raymond. Survivors include a son Randy Free of Marianna; two half-brothers, Aubrey and Burl Free of Plant City; two half-sisters, Vivian Taylor of Marianna and Odie Goodson of Malone. MYRTLE T. HIGHTOWER
Mrs. Myrtle T. Hightower, 95, of 21133 Hightower Road, Fountain, Fla., died Thursday, Oct. 14, 1999, at a local nursing home. She had been a resident of the area since 1943, coming here from North Carolina. Mrs. Hightower was a homemaker and Protestant by faith. She is survived by two sons, Houston Hightower Jr. of Fountain and Gerald Hightower of Purvis, Miss.; two daughters, Mary E. Dormer of Bressler, Penn., and Grace M. Frazzman of Reno, Nev.; 13 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Hightower was preceded in death by her husband Carl H. Hightower. Graveside funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 18, at Sandy Mountain Cemetery with the Rev. Frank E. Meredith officiating. Interment will follow. The family will receive friends at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home today, Oct. 17, from 4 until 5 p.m.

A memorial service for Mr. Donald Breen Jee of Panama City will be conducted Monday, Oct. 18, at 7 p.m. in the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 5209 E. 11th Street, Panama City, Fla. JOHN WALTER LOKERSON
Mr. John Walter Lokerson, 66, of 906 Mallory Drive, Panama City, Fla., died Oct. 15, 1999, at his home. He had been a resident of the area since 1989, coming here from Waterford, N.Y. Mr. Lokerson served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a faithful member of the Messiah Lutheran Church since 1989. He was instrumental in the opening of the Lynn Haven Plant of the Allied Signal Corp. He was a design engineer with more than 100 patents to his credit during his career. In 1996 he was awarded the Inventor Award by Allied Signal for his work in conceptual design. Mr. Lokerson wanted to be remembered as a Christian who was lovingly devoted to his wife and family. He is survived by his wife of 46 years Trudy Lokerson of Panama City; a daughter, Deborah Armstrong of Lynn Haven, Fla.; two sons, Mark Lokerson of Panama City and Daniel Lokerson of Gulfport, Miss.; a sister, Patricia Trout of Prescott, Ariz.; brother, Ernest Lokerson and his wife Ruth of St. Petersburg, Fla.; and grandchildren: Scott Armstrong, Christopher Armstrong, Jason Lokerson, Joshua Lokerson, Kameryn Lokerson and Keenan Lokerson. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 18, at Kent-Forest Funeral Home with the Rev. Dennis Schmidt officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Asked to serve as active pallbearers are: Mike Tran, Don Anderson, Terry Cantrell, Randy Fowler, Brad Harris and Bob Wilkes. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 p.m. today, Oct. 17.
