BOBBY WAYNE MATHIS SR.
Mr. Bobby Wayne Mathis Sr., 69, who was born in Steele, Mo., to Gerald and Faye Mathis, died Friday, Oct 15, 1999, in a local hospital of a sudden illness. First Sgt. Bobby Mathis retired from the U.S. Army after 25 years of service, having served in Japan, Korea, Germany and Vietnam. The Bronze Star and Purple Heart were among the many medals he received during his years of service. Mr. Mathis is survived by his wife Betty Jean Mathis of Lynn Haven, Fla.; children: Bobby W. Mathis Jr. and his wife Shirley of Wewahitchka, Fla., Sylvia Walsingham and her husband Bill of Panama City Beach, Fla., Russell Lee Mathis Sr. and his wife Janice of Lynn Haven and Diane Mathis of Lynn Haven; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; his mother, Ona Faye Mathis of Steele; sisters: Peggy Mathis of Houston, Texas , Kay Rowe and her husband Bill of Houston and Brenda Mathis of Steele; and brothers, Landon Mathis of Steele and Larry Mathis and his wife Carol of Haines City, Fla. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 18, at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. David B. Halstead Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Cemetery. Asked to serve as active pallbearers are Mr. Mathis' grandchildren: Candace Mathis, Timothy Grissett, Rodney Grissett, Zachery Mathis, Jefferey Walsingham, Allen Walsingham, Russell Lee Mathis Jr. and Kevin Mathis. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today, Oct. 17, from 6 until 8 p.m.

Larkin Tilous Porter, 68, of Clermont died Friday, Oct. 15, 1999. Born in Millville, Fla., he moved to Clermont in 1971, coming from New Smyrna Beach. He was Baptist. He was a member of Local No. 803 Plumbers and Pipe Fitters Union and the National Rifle Association. He is survived by daughters: Phyllis P. Carter of Oakland, Donna G. Stacey of Henrietta, Texas , Cheryl L. Porter of Winter Garden, Martha S. Sperry of Minneola and Rhonda J. Hunt of Clermont; brothers: Don and Jerry Porter, both of Panama City, Fla.; sisters: Vera Jo Mills, Georgia Ann Henderson and Linda K. Burkett, all of Panama City; and 10 grandchildren.

Infants Destiny and Chastity Bonifay died on Oct. 4, and Oct. 15, 1999, at a hospital in Pensacola. They gave so much and asked for so little. They were two little angels that touched so many lives. They are survived by a mother: Stephanie Bonifay of Tyndall A.F.B., Fla.; a father: Josh Howell of Panama City, Fla.; maternal grandparents: Tom & Debra Bonifay of Tyndall A.F.B., Fla.; paternal grandparents: Gerry & Marie Howell of Panama City, Fla.; maternal great-grandmother: Ann Bonifay of Pensacola, Fla.; maternal great-grandparents: Jim & Francis Gilley of Pace, Fla.; paternal great-grandparents: Hamp & Onile Brown of Panama City, Fla.; maternal great-grandmother: Addie Howell of Panama City, Fla.; one uncle: Thomas Bonifay of Tyndall A.F.B., Fla.; and one aunt: Jennifer Howell of Panama City, Fla. A graveside funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 19, 1999, at Garden of Memories Cemetery with the Rev. Curtis Kent officiating. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery.

LARRY MICHAEL BURCH Larry Michael Burch, age 17, died on Sat., Oct 16, 1999, at a friend's residence in Lynn Haven, Fla. Michael was born in Panama City and had lived in the area for most of his life. He was currently a student of Commercial Arts at Haney Vocational Center. He loved fishing, professional wrestling and country music. Michael is survived by his mother and step father: Judy Newsom and her husband Tim of Panama City; his father and step mother: Larry Burch and his wife Cindy of Lynn Haven; brothers: Rodney Burch and Aaron Burch, both of Lynn Haven; sisters: Leona Newson of Panama City and Tiffany Burch of Lynn Haven; maternal grandmother: Joyce Nelson of Lynn Haven; maternal grandfather: David Foster and his wife Terry of St. Petersburg, Fla.; a favorite aunt: Barbara Pruett of Springfield as well as many other aunts and uncles. He is also survived by close friends: Sha Cooper, Michael & Joseph Beyer, Amanda Westoven and many other close friends. Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 19, 1999, at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Doug Pennington officiating. OVEDIA M. FOUNTAIN Mrs. Ovedia M. Fountain, age 84, of 2100 Jenks Ave., Panama City, FL, died Oct. 16, 1999 at a local nursing home. Mrs. Fountain was born in Southport and had been a lifelong resident of Bay County. She was a retired seamstress and had worked at Margaret Fashions in Panama City for 20 years. She was a member of First Assembly of God of Southport. She is survived by a son: Clay Fountain and his wife Jennifer of Southport, Fl.; a sister: Virgie Nichols of Lynn Haven, FL.; granddaughters: Ashton Fountain, Ariel Callahan, Stephanie Alexander; a grandson: Ronnie Lee Watkins; sisters-in-law: Martha Beatrice Anglin, Argie Mason and Kathleen Anglin. She is preceded in death by her husband: John Clayton Fountain; daughters: Elizabeth Fountain and Linda Aaron; a sister: Eva Cantrell; and brothers: Mack Mason and Harry Mason. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 19, 1999 at First Assembly of God of Southport with Reverend Nixon Miller and Reverend Mike Parker officiating. Interment will follow at Old Southport Cemetery. Asked to serve as active pallbearers are: Willis Nelson, Robert Benefield, Edward Sapp, Daryl Mason, Phil Mason and Jim Bosson. FURMAN J. BLUME
Mr. Furman J. Blume, SMsgt., U.S.A.F., (Ret.), age 76, of Youngstown, Fla., entered into eternal life on Sunday, Oct. 17, 1999, at his home. Born in Ehrhardt, S.C., he moved here in 1965 from San Antonio, Texas . He retired as a SMsgt. from the U.S.A.F. after 23 years of service. During this time he proudly served in England in World War II and in Seoul, Korea during the Korean conflict. Mr. Blume was a member of Parkway Baptist Church where he was highly loved and respected. He was also a retired barber and minister. Mr. Blume is survived by his wife of 56 years, Joyce L. Blume of Youngstown; three sons: James E. Blume and wife Mary of Papua New Guinea, Gary R. Blume and wife Rhonda, Dale Lee Blume and wife Luann, all of Panama City, two sisters: Ida Mae Douglas of Cocoa, Fla., and Mary Music of Hillard, Fla; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, Oct. 20 at 1 p.m. in Southerland Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Buddy Glass officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Full military honors will be accorded by the Tyndall A.F.B. Honor Guard. The family will receive friends at the funeral home this evening from 5 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Parkway Baptist Missions Fund in memory of Mr. Blume.

Mr. Roy L. Cassiday, age 53, died Sunday, Oct. 17, 1999, at his residence. He was a lifelong resident of Walton County, Fla. Mr. Cassiday was a member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church and was also a member of Ponce de Leon Masonic Lodge No. 157 for the past 25 years.He was owner of Valley Construction Company and co-owner of Marrisson Springs. Mr. Cassiday enjoyed volunteering his time and energy in community service work. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Mr. Cassiday is survived by his wife of 35 years, Dovie Lee Coot Cassiday, of Ponce de Leon, Fla.; sons, Randy M. Cassiday and wife Linda of Ponce de Leon and David Griggs and wife Vera of Ponce de Leon; daughters, Christina Cassiday of Ponce de Leon, Amy Guiffre and husband Louis "Sonny" and Sandy McCullers and husband Jimmy of Ponce de Leon; brother, Willmer Cassiday of Tallahassee; sisters: Shirley Mae Reynolds of Mossy Head, Fla., Joyce Weimorts of DeFuniak Springs, Fla. and Lillian Miller of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., and 10 grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 20 in Comander Funeral Home, 21 West Main Street, DeFuniak Springs, Fla., with the Rev. Mike McVay and the Rev. Kenny Montgomery officiating. Burial will follow in The Resting Place Cemetery. Mildred L. Garrett, 88, of Panama City died Saturday, Oct. 16, 1999, in a local hospital. She had been a resident here since she moved from Sylacauga, Ala., in 1945 and had been a member of First United Methodist Church of Panama City. Graveside services will be conducted on Friday, Oct. 22, 1999 at 3 p.m. in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. before the service at the funeral home.

Mrs. Connie Sue Emanuel, 61, of Wewahitchka, Fla., died Sunday, Oct. 17, 1999, at her home. Born in Bastrom, La., she was a longtime resident of this area. She was a homemaker and a member of the United Pentecostal Church. Mrs. Emanuel is survived by her husband, Randel C. Emanuel of Wewahitchka, Fla.; three sons: Randel E. Emanuel and wife Kim, Dennis L. Emanuel all of Wewahitchka, Fla., Daniel C. Emanuel and wife Ann of Panama City; two daughters: Pamela K. Foster and husband David of Wewahitchka, Gail M. Mr. John Pete Ham, age 81, of 612 Powell Ave., Panama City, Fla., died Monday, Oct. 18, 1999, at his home. He had been a resident of the area for 51 years, coming here form Headland, Ala. Mr. Ham served his country in the U. S. Army in the Tank Division during World War II and packed and inspected parachutes with Civil Service. He was also a member of the Springfield United Methodist Church. He was a very special father and grandfather. Mr. Ham is survived by his Wife, Janell M. Ham of Panama City, Fla.; daughters: Charlotte Brannen and her husband Eddie and Susan Perry and her husband Scott, all of Lynn Haven, Fla., and Teresa Younglove and her husband Todd of Panama City, Fla.; sons: Jimmie Ham and his wife Geraldine, Dannie Ham, Ricky Ham and his wife Sharon, and Jerry Ham, all of Panama City, Fla.; 19 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one-great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by two grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 20, 1999, at Springfield United Methodist Church with the Rev. Fred Melvin officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will include Mr. Ham's grandsons: Rich Word, Joey Brannen, David Tharp, Mike Cater, Ted Holland, Michael Cox, R.J. Loberger, and Matthew Younglove. The family will receive friends at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home, today, Oct. 19, 1999, 6 to 8 p.m.
