Dorothy Maddox, 89, of Marianna died Sunday night, Oct. 17, 1999, in Akron, Ohio following a brief illness. She was born in Ormond Beach, Fla. She moved to Marianna in the late 1930's. Mrs. Maddox and her husband Woodie founded Maddox Funeral Home where she continued to work until shortly before her death. She was preceded in death by her husband, Woodson A. (Woodie) Maddox in 1974. Funeral arrangements will be announced later this week by James and James Funeral Home.

ELOISE HUTCHINSON POWELL
Eloise Hutchinson Powell, 64, of Panama City, died Saturday, Oct. 16, at her residence. Born in Silas, Ala., she moved to Panama City from Mobile, Ala., in 1967. Mrs. Powell was a nurse at the Lisenby Retirement Center and a member of the Springfield Community Church. She is preceded in death by her parents, James and Annie Laura Hutchinson; and one brother, John "Jack" Hutchinson. Mrs. Powell is survived by her husband, Alton Lee Powell of Panama City; and three sons, William Stall, James Stall and Richard Jones of Panama City; four daughters, Rebecca Shippee of Panama City, Cynthia King of Virginia Beach, Va., Angela Cecil and husband Jamie, and Donna Blakemore all of Panama City; three brothers, James "Jim" Hutchinson and wife Jean of Mobile, Ala., Carlton Hutchinson and wife Jane of Savannah, Ga., and Bruce Hutchinson and wife Francine of Anniston, Ala., one sister Mary Louise Howard and husband James of Panama City; 14 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services for Mrs. Powell will be conducted Wednesday, Oct. 20, at 10 a.m. in the Southerland Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend J.W. Hunt officiating. Interment will follow in the Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends today, Oct. 19, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

SAMUEL LOUIS STALLWORTH
Sammie Stallworth, 55, of Apalachicola, died unexpectedly Sunday, Oct. 17, 1999, at his home. A native of Port St. Joe, Mr. Stallworth had lived in Apalachicola for the past 20 years. He was a community leader and friend to many. He was the owner of the Two Spot Lounge in Apalachicola and sponsored the annual Christmas Parade/Santa Claus for the Hillside in Apalachicola. He was a member of the Knights of Phythians and was a Protestant. He is survived by his father, Otis Stallworth of Port St. Joe; his devoted companion, Nedra Jefferson of Apalachicola; six brothers: Henry Taft Stallworth of Orlando, and Theotis, Richard and Otis Jr. all of Tallahassee, Henry King Stallworth of Port St. Joe, and Calvin Stallworth of Titusville; two sisters: Annie Lois Byrd and Deborah Crosby, both of Port St. Joe; three grandchildren: Jalyn, Sydney, and Dexter Stallworth II; and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Family will receive friends 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. EST, today, Oct. 19 at Kelley Funeral Home in Apalchicola. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. EST, Wednesday, Oct. 20 at New Bethel A.M.E. Church, Avenue "C," Port St. Joe. Interment will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery in Port St. Joe, Fla.

FURMAN J. BLUME Funeral services for Mr. Furman J. Blume, SMsgt, U.S.A.F., (Ret.), will be held today at 1 p.m. in Southerland Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Buddy Glass officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Full military honors will be accorded by the Tyndall A.F.B.Honor Guard. The following gentlemen will serve as active pallbearers: Mark Anderson, Will Odom, Michael Fulghum, Flint Skipper, Ronnie Campbell and Blake Thomason. Honorary pallbearers will be all members of Parkway Baptist Friendship Sunday Class. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Parkway Baptist Missions Fund in memory of Mr. Blume.

MILDRED L. GARRETT
Mrs. Mildred L. Garrett, 88, of Panama City, Fla., died Saturday, Oct. 16, 1999, in a local hospital. Born in Sylacauga, Ala., she moved here in 1945 where she spent her life devoted to her husband and children. Mrs. Garrett was a lifetime member of First United Methodist Church of Panama City was the past president of the Progressive Women's Bible Class at the church. She served as secretary for the Bay County Mental Health Association for 12 1/2 years, was a member of the Women's Club of Panama City. Mrs. Garret is preceded in death by her husband, Dr. LaRua Garrett and one son, Thomas Tucker Garrett. She is survived by one son, David L. Garrett of Panama; one brother, Joe Spencer of Panama City; sister-in-law, Mrs. Lloyd Lightsey of Jacksonville, Fla.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Graveside funeral services will be conducted on Friday, Oct. 22 at 3 p.m. in Greenwood Cemetery with Dr. Douglas Newton officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1 to 3 p.m. before service on Friday.

ARLENE FRANCIS GATES
Arlene Francis Gates, 37, of Oak Grove, Ky.. died at her residence Oct. 15, 1999. She was a member of New Birth Jerusalem C.O.G.I.C. where she was a member of the choir. Arlene was predeced by her father, Eddie Allen. Survivors include her mother: Eunice Gates of Panama City; two brothers: Arthur Gates of Clarksville, Tenn. and Timothy Odom of Panama City; three sisters: Vanessa Ponton of Virginia Beach, Va., Joyce Gates of Walforf, Md., and Solphia Rhodes of Gautier, Miss. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Oct. 21 at 1 p.m. in New Birth Jerusalem C.O.G.I.C with the Rev. Robert Cook officiating. Interment will follow in Resthaven Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be today, Oct. 20 from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

BILLIE M. HALL
Billie M. Hall (Suter), age 69, passed away Oct. 16, 1999, in Salt Lake City, Utah. Billie was born Jan. 13, 1930, in Marvel, Ala., daughter of Lemuel and Dora Lee Groggins. Billie was head majorette at Montevallo High School. She led the inaugural parade for the governor in Montgomery, Ala. in 1947. Billie married Alton L. Hall and they had four children. Billie and Alton moved to Marietta where she was a beautician for many years. She loved dancing and sang beautifully. She and Al later retired to Panama City Beach, Fla. Billie loved fishing and crabbing. Billie loved everybody and all loved her for her sense of humor and feisty attitude. After Al passed away Billie remained in Panama City Beach for several years and spent the last few years in Salt Lake City with her son, Ed and daughter, Lynda. Billie was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Alton; sister, Gene; brother, Larry "DOC" Goggins; and son, Kenneth Wayne Hall. Billie is survived by two sisters: Shirley Thompson of Pea Ridge, Ala., and Sue Castleberry of Carrolton, Ga.; two sons: Alton L. Hall Jr. of Jemison, Ala., Edward H. Hall Sr. and daughter, Lynda Hall both of Salt Lake City. Billie was blessed with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren that she loved dearly. The grandchildren are: Todd Hall, Edward H. Hall Jr., Carmen Williams, Amber Edmund, Chelsea Hall, Larry Pierce, Kenny Sweat, Joshuah Hall, Cody Hall and Payton Hall. The great-grandchildren are: Scott Williams, Alex Williams and Ali Hall. Billie loved life and will be greatly missed by her family and all that knew her. Those can only be grateful for the time she shared with us and the life she so eagerly embraced. Funeral services will be held at Rocco's Funeral Home in Montevallo, Ala. on Saturday, Oct. 23 at 11 a.m. The viewing will be Friday, Oct. 22 from 6 to 8 p.m.

JOHN PETE HAM
Mr. John Pete Ham, age 81, of 612 Powell Ave., Panama City, Fla., died Monday, Oct. 18, 1999, at his home. He had been a resident of the area for 51 years, coming here form Headland, Ala. Mr. Ham served his country in the U. S. Army in the Tank Division during World War II and packed and inspected parachutes with Civil Service. He retired from Tyndall AFB after 30 years of service. He was also a member of the Springfield United Methodist Church. He was a very special father and grandfather. Mr. Ham is survived by his wife, Janell M. Ham of Panama City, Fla.; daughters: Charlotte Brannen and her husband Eddie and Susan Perry and her husband Scott, all of Lynn Haven, Fla., and Teresa Younglove and her husband Todd of Panama City, Fla.; sons: Jimmie Ham and his wife Geraldine, Dannie Ham, Ricky Ham and his wife Sharon, and Jerry Ham, all of Panama City, Fla.; 19 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one-great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by two grandchildren: Danny Lee Ham and Kimberly Jo Perry. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 20, 1999, at Springfield United Methodist Church with the Rev. Fred Melvin and the Rev. David Halstead officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Cemetery. Asked to serve as active pallbearers are: Will Oost, Chuck Knowles, Larche Hardy, James Glisson, Hollis Adams, Clarence Brogdon, and Paul Suggs. Honorary pallbearers will include Mr. Ham's grandsons: Rich Word, Joey Brannen, David Tharp, Mike Cater, Ted Holland, Michael Cox, R. J. Loberger, and Matthew Younglove; and his great-nephews: Brandon Ham and Brent Ham.

KENNETH T. WILLIAMS
Mr. Kenneth T. Williams, Marine Engineer, U.S.A.F., (Ret.) of Parker, Fla., died Monday, Oct. 18, 1999. Born in Coolidge, Ga., he moved here in 1966 after retiring from the U.S.A.F. He was also a veteran of World War II and the Korean conflict. Mr. Williams was a member of Victory Baptist Church, Parker Masonic Lodge No. 142 and the Scottish Rite. Mr. Williams is preceded in death by a son, Andrew R. Williams. He is survived by his wife, Virginia Williams of Panama City; one son, Kenneth R. Williams of Smithville, N.C.; two daughters: Susan Beacham of Montgomery, Ala. and Lynn Keever of Decatur, Ga.; one brother, Eugene Williams of Niceville; two step-sons: Tom Galbreath of Vernon and Mac Galbreath of Milton; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, Oct. 21 at 10 a.m. in Southerland Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Larry Beach officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Masonic graverites will be conducted by the Parket Masonic Lodge No. 142. The lodge will open at 9 a.m. Thursday morning. The family will receive friends at the funeral home this evening from 6 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimers Association in memory of Mr. Williams.
