Mr. Ludy Dunklin, 98, formerly of Panama City, Fla., of Albion, Mich., died Sunday, Nov. 7, 1999 at Trillium Hospital where he was a patient. Funeral services for Mr. Ludy Dunklin will be held today, Nov. 13, at 1 p.m. in Grove Temple First Born Church of the Living God with Bishop Wiley McQueen, officiating. Interment will follow in Hillside Cemtery. The remains will lie in state one hour prior to services at the church.

GERTRUDE S. McCABE
Mrs. Gertrude S. McCabe, age 89, of Panama City Beach, Fla., died Friday, Nov. 12, 1999 at a local nursing center. She had been a resident of the area since 1967. Mrs. McCabe was a member of First Baptist Church of Panama City Beach, the Sunshine Club, and the Solid Gold Club. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. today, Nov. 13, at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Jerry Weaver officiating. Entombment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will include: Horace Crowson, Roy Gruber, Elgin Fields, Dalton Mills, B.J. Tweati, Robert Earl and the Deacons of First Baptist Church of Panama City Beach. Visitation will be held from 9 to 10 a.m. today, Nov. 13, an hour prior to service time at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Children's Church of the First Baptist Church of Panama City Beach.

CLARENCE POTTER SR.
Mr. Clarence Potter Sr., 79, of 1515 Louisiana Ave., died Monday, Nov. 8, 1999 in Bay Medical Center. He was a native of Millers Ferry, Fla., but had been a longtime resident of Panama City. Mr. Clarence Potter Sr., a member of Church of Christ, was born Aug. 9, 1920 to the late Mr. and Mrs. Leslie and Lorella Potter in Miller Ferry, Fla. He met and married Charity Kent. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II where he achieved the rank of sargent and was awarded two bronze medals for valor. Mr. Potter and his wife later moved to Panama City, Fla., where he was employed by International Paper Company until his retirement. God called him to rest on Nov. 8, 1999. He leaves to cherish his memory a loving and devoted wife, Charity Potter; three sons: Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Potter Jr. (Betty) of Atlanta, Ga., Mr. and Mrs. James Potter (Rosemary) of Panama City, Elder and Evang. Otis Potter (Katie) of Rochester, N.Y.; three daughters: Marilyn Potter of Panama City, Carolyn Potter of Panama City, Brenda, wife of Mr. William Brown of Rochester, N.Y.; three brothers: Coleman Potter of Fort Lauderdale, Mr. and Mrs. Cleveland Potter (Creola) of Houston, Texas , Alvin Potter of Vernon; five sisters: Ola, wife of Mr. Arbucklus Peterson of Ebro, Hila Brown of Vernon, Annie Mae, wife of Mr. Alvin Brown of Vernon, Ruth, wife of Mr Junior C. Hill of Vernon, Alma Bell of Panama City; four sisters-in-law, all of Fort Myers, Fla.: Teresa Young, Helen Kent, Ruby Waldo, Willie Mae Kent; and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends. Three of his brothers preceded him in death: Willie Potter, Henry L. Potter, Willie M. Potter. Funeral services for Mr. Potter will be held Sunday, Nov. 14, at 1 p.m. in Church of Christ in Ebro with Brother Xerxes M. Snell, officiating. Interment will follow in St. Luke Cemetery. Public visitation will begin this afternoon at the funeral home at 1 p.m. A family hour will be held in Battle Memorial Funeral Home Chapel from 6 to 7 p.m. The remains will lie in state at the church one hour prior to services at the church.

LEILA ALFORD TRAVIS SCOTT
Funeral services for Leila Alford Travis Scott, 91, of Panama City, who died Nov. 10, 1999 in Blountstown, Fla., will be held today at 11 a.m. in Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Richard White officiating. Graveside services will be held today at 1 p.m. in Pine Memorial Cemetery, Blountstown, with the Rev. Edward Fuqua officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10 to 11 a.m. today.

Mr. Rome Windham Jr., 78, of 423 Beach Drive, Panama City, Fla., died Friday, Nov. 12, 1999 in a local nursing home. Funeral services for Mr. Windham will be conducted Monday, Nov. 15, at 10 a.m. in Southerland Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Madrid Cemetery in Madrid, Ala. Those who wish may make constributions to Men's Bible Class of First United Methodist Church in memory of Mr. Windham.

JEWELL B. ANDERSON
Mrs. Jewell B. Anderson, 90, of Panama City, died Saturday morning, Nov. 13, 1999, in a local nursing home. She had been a resident here since 1944, having moved to the area from Columbus, Ga. Mrs. Anderson was a homemaker and member of Jenks Avenue Church of Christ. She is preceded in death by her husband of 65 years Mr. D.J. Anderson. She is survived by her two daughters, Carolyn King and husband Bryan of Tampa, and Juanita Whitfield and husband John of Panama City; five grandchildren: Don Swain, Tommy Swain, David King, Daniel King and Debra Matthews; eight great-grandchildren: Tina Vairo, David Swain, Cody Swain, Michelle Swain, Cautlin King, Christopher King, Sarah Matthews and Hanna Matthews; and one great-great-grandchild Marissa Vairo. Graveside funeral service for Mrs. Anderson will be Tuesday, Nov. 16, in Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Grimes, Ala., with Mr. Gerald McAllister officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday, Nov. 15, from 6 to 8 p.m.

SAM W. BARBER
Mr. Sam W. Barber of Port St. Joe died Friday, Nov. 12, 1999, at Sunbridge Care and Rehabilitation Center. He had been a resident of Gulf County since 1976 and an active Mason for more than 40 years. He was also a member of Long Avenue Baptist Church. He was retired from civil service as a machinist foreman. Mr. Barber is survived by his wife of 36 years Edna (Hurley) Barber; and two daughters, Yvonne Magnussen of Hollister, Mass., and Teresa Brake of Overstreet. He was preceded in death by his son Eugene of Corinth, Miss. He is also survived by five stepchildren, 17 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, four sisters, two brothers and many nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be Monday, Nov. 15, at 11 a.m. in Long Ave. Baptist Church with the Rev. Dan Duncan officiating. Members of Port St. Joe Lodge No. 111 F&AM will serve as pallbearers. He will lie in state at Long Avenue Baptist Church from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday.

ESSIE H. BLANKENSHIP
Mrs. Essie H. Blankenship, 67, of 6603 Azalea St., Panama City, died Friday, Nov. 12, 1999, at her home. She had been a resident of the area since 1948, coming here from Apalachicola. Mrs. Blankenship was a member of Hiland Park Baptist Church and the Eastern Star of Panama City. She is survived by her sons, Jerry Wayne Blankenship and his wife Ann and David Chris Blankenship, all of Panama City; a sister Eunice Dykes of Apalachicola; and four grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband James "Jack" W. Blankenship. A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 16, at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Interment will follow. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2 until 4 p.m. today, Nov. 14. The family will be staying at the home of Jerry Blankenship, 6605 John Pitts Road, Panama City, 32404.

DWIGHT LEE BROWN (POTTER)
On Wednesday, Nov. 10, 1999, Dwight Lee Brown (Potter) passed away in his home in Santa Rosa Beach. Potter, the son of Barrett Brown and Georgia David Brown was a native of Parker and member of the Davis/Brown pioneer family. He is survived by Suzette DeJarnette, his loving companion of 29 years; as well as brothers: Wayne, David, Loyal and Gerald Brown; and sisters, Janice McDonald and Brenda Saunders. Potter was a Vietnam veteran and commercial fisherman. He was well known for his talent in bluegrass music. Memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. today, Nov. 14, on Parker Bayou, behind the home of Ed Parker (1025 East Park St., Parker).

Memorial service for Anthony T. Caruso, 85, of Panama City Beach, who died Monday in a local nursing home, will be held today at 2 p.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jack Hankins officiating. The family will receive friends at their home after the service.

VALERIE R. "LOVIE" MONROE
Mrs. Valerie R. "Lovie" Monroe, 63, of 5332 Thornton Lane, Parker, died Friday, Nov. 12, 1999, at a local hospital. Born in Rhydfelin Pontypridd, South Wales, United Kingdom. She had been a resident of Parker since 1976, returning here from Tehran, Iran. She was a homemaker and member of St. Dominic's Catholic Church. Mrs. Monroe was a member of the Tyndall Air Force Base Ladies Bowling League, a former member of the Tyndall Air Force Base Toe Tappers Square Dancers Club and the Bay County Homemaker's Extension. Mrs. Monroe is survived by her husband of 41 years Ramon "Ray" Monroe of Parker; a daughter Sharon Stirrup and her husband Robert of Chesapeake, Va.; two sons, Wayne R. Monroe and his wife Kim of Pinison, Ala., and Neal P. Monroe and his wife Susan of Youngstown; mother Nora Dennis; brothers, David Williams and his wife Ann and John Dennis; sisters, Jennifer Mixture and her husband Harry and Wendy Cant, all residing in England; three grandchildren: Michael P. Monroe, Ashley N. Monroe and Jesse L. Monroe, all of Youngstown; and one great-grandson Tyler A. Monroe of Panama City. A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 15, at St. Dominic's Catholic Church with Father Peter Zalewski officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Asked to serve as active pallbearers are: Tony Kuzma, Tom West, Henry DePue, Ron Cowen, Joel Jackson and Jack White. Honorary pallbearers include members of The Knights of Columbus Father Joseph M. Baker C.R. Council No. 3599. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 p.m. today, Nov. 14, with a Rosary service at 7 p.m.
