Memorial services for Mr. John Joseph Palaimo, age 85, of 704 Tammy St., Lynn Haven, Fla., who died Sunday, Jan. 23, 2000 will be held today, Jan. 27, 2000 at St. John's Catholic Church with Fr. Marty Bratek officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations may be made to Catholic Social Services or to St. John's Catholic School.

J.D. BRIGGS
Mr. J.D. Briggs of 1840 E. 11th St., died Jan. 23, 2000, in Panama City, Fla. He was born Jan. 25, 1932, to the late Oascar and Lelia Nelson Briggs. He was a 1952 graduate of Rosenwald High School. He served in the United States Army. He received a commendation medal, a bronze star medal, a Vietnam service medal, a Vietnam campaign medal, a Vietnam gallantry cross with palm, a National Defense service medal, a good conduct medal (fifth award), a Korean service medal, an Armed Force Expeditionary medal (Korea). Four brothers proceed him in death: Oascar, Eddie, Ralph and Renard Briggs. He is survived by his family, who will cherish his memory: his sister, Ms. Ethel Briggs; his brothers: Mr. Lawerence Briggs, Mr. Raymond (Alice) Briggs, Mr. Coley (JoNetha) Coleman, all of Panama City, Fla.; some nieces and nephews he reared: Mr. Curtis Carter Jr., Mr. Carl Carter, Mr. John Steele and Mrs. Glenda Battles; two great nephews, Tyrecka Steele and Derreck McCray; his aunts, Mrs. Catherine Nelson of Panama City, Fla., and Mrs. Rosetta Johnson of Bonifay, Fla.; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a friend, Hubert C. McCullah; two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Tomasena Briggs of Marianna, Fla., and Mrs. Ethel Rollins of Lynn Haven, Fla. Mr. J. D. Briggs' service will be held Saturday, Jan. 29 at 11 a.m. in the Gainer Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Lonnie Mitchell officiating. Interment will be in the Redwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the home of Ms. Ethel Mae Briggs, 1840 E. 11th St., Panama City, Fla.

ELAINE PATE DANIEL
Mrs. Elaine Pate Daniel, age 79, died Monday, Jan. 24, 2000, in Panama City. Mrs. Daniel was born June 18, 1920, in Pensacola to Angus Edward and Malzie Ella Ward Pate. She is preceded in death by her husband, Carley Robert Daniel and her father and mother, Angus and Malzie Pate and one brother, Edward Eugene Pate. Mrs. Daniel is survived by one son, Robert Alan Daniel of Mt. Marion, N.Y.; one daughter, Kay Mayne and husband Ron of Panama City; two brothers, Kenna Pate and wife Carol of Bruce, Fla., and Dex Pate and wife Margie of Panama City; three sisters: Zera Denson of Bruce, Pansy Bjorklund of Panama City and Naomi Starr and husband H.E. of Baytown, Texas . Funeral services will be held today, Jan. 28 at Bruce Methodist Church with the Rev. Bill Young officiating. Burial will follow Dead River Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Bill Angelos, Chuck Tucker, Brett Hertzing, Terry Mayne, James Walters and H.E. Starr. Honorary pallbearers will be Nowling Cox, Jimmy Ward, Jimmy Waits, Early Wilson, Earl Godsey and Michael Calumbo.

BRENDA J. (DUHART) DUDLEY
Ms. Brenda J. (Duhart) Dudley, 42, of 729 Cactus Ave., died Jan. 25, 2000, in a local nursing center. She was a life-long resident of Panama City, Fla. She attended and completed Bay County Public School and attended Gulf Coast Community College. She began her church affiliation as a young girl at Greater Bethel A.M.E. Church, and later became a member of the Glenwood Church of Christ, Panama City, Fla. She is survived by four brothers: Albert H. Duhart Jr., Tommy J. Duhart and Michael L. Duhart Sr., all of Panama City, and Nathaniel C. Duhart of Tampa; three sisters: Ilene Duhart-Purnell (Clarence), and Linda G. Duhart, both of Panama City, and Shelia Duhart-Pittman of Tampa; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and in-laws; a host of very dedicated close friends and church family. Funeral services for Ms. Dudley will be held Saturday, Jan. 29 at 1 p.m. in the Greater Bethel A.M.E. Church with Minister Xerxes M. Snell officiating, Rev. O.C. Williams, pastor. Interment to follow in the Hillside Cemetery. The body will repose today at the Church of Christ-Glenwood, 708 E. 13th St., from 6 to 8 p.m. and will lie in state on Saturday at Greater Bethel A.M.E. Church from 10 a.m. until service time. The family will receive relatives and friends at 729 Cactus Ave.

NANCY LEE HAMMONS
Nancy Lee Hammons, 86, of Panama City, Fla., died Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2000, in a local hospital. She had been a resident of Bay County for four years moving here from Pensacola, Fla. She worked as a housekeeper in a college before she retired. She is survived by a daughter, Sally Ogwynn of Pensacola, Fla.; two sisters, Edna Allen and her husband, Clyde, of Panama City, Fla. and Johnnie Smith of Samson, Ala.; three nephews: George Allen, David Allen, Jerry Allen and his wife, Shirley; and a niece, Barbara Kadel and her husband, Joey and their children, all of Panama City, Fla. Memorial services will be held today at 7 p.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 6 to 8 p.m.

DAVID WILLIAM HUMPHREYS SR.
David William Humphreys Sr., 67, of 230 Cove Blvd, Panama City, died Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2000, in his home. He was a retired Commander in the U.S. Navy where he served during the Vietname War. He also was a retired ROTC instructor at the Port St. Joe and Wewahitchka high schools. He volunteered his time helping with the American Legion and Gulf Coast Community College baseball teams. He was a member of the Grace Episcopal Church. He was preceded in death by a son, Jonathan Humphreys. He is survived by his wife, Maxine Humphreys; two sons, David William Humphreys Jr., Patrick Kevin Humphreys, all of Panama City; daughter, Caroline Humphreys Fowler and her husband, James; two grandchildren, Chris Fowler and Rebecca Fowler, all of Chattanooga, Tenn. Memorial services will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Kenneth Barker officiating. Those desiring to may make a contribution to the American Heart Association or Hospice of Bay Medical Center in memory of Mr. Humphreys.

MARK LANE KELLEY
Mr. Mark Lane Kelley, age 44, of 4427 Fletcher St., Panama City, Fla., died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2000, in Calhoun County, as the result of a hunting accident. He was a lifetime resident of the area, a member of Boilermakers Local No. 199 and a member of Northside Baptist Church. Mr. Kelley loved hunting and fishing and being with his family. He is survived by his wife, Mary Glenn Kelley of Panama City, Fla.; two sons: Justin Lane Kelley and Jason Ian Kelley, both of Panama City, Fla.; step-sons: Jeptha Alan Davis and Taylor Lee Davis, both of Albertville, Ala.; mother, Kathryn Lane Kelley of Panama City, Fla.; sister, Jennifer Kay Alford and her husband Dan of Inlet Beach, Fla.; brothers: Jerry Elliot Kelley and his wife Margie, Jimmy Ray Kelley and his wife Petra, and Gary Steven Kelley and his wife Gale, all of Panama City, Fla.; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Elliott Kelley. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 29 at Northside Baptist Church with Dr. Jerry Moore and the Rev. Lewis Miller officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Cemetery. Asked to serve as active pallbearers are: Jimmy Saliba, Clayton Young, Reid Bauman, Larry Snellgrove, Wayne Beals, and Randy Richburg. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. today, Jan. 28 at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations may be made to the Derrick Kelley Youth Fund of Northside Baptist Church. The family will be staying at the home of Mr. Kelley's mother, Kathryn Lane Kelley, 2610 Mound Ave., Panama City, Fla.

Mrs. Dorothy Wood Lilly died Monday, Jan. 24, 2000, in Montevallo, Ala. She is the mother of Mrs. Vicki L. Gainer, son-in-law Harry Will Gainer Jr., and grandmother of Kara and Harry (Trey) Gainer III. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. in the Shiloh Baptist Church in Montevallo, Ala. Westside Funeral Home of Calera, Ala., will be in charge of the service.

FRANK LOUIS OWENS SR.
Frank Louis Owens Sr., 57, of Panama City, Fla., died Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2000, in a local hospital. He had been a resident of Bay County since 1966, moving here from Savannah, Ga. He was a retired Utility System Specialist for Tyndall Air Force Base Civil Service. He was a member of the Florida Panhandle Sportsman Club. He is survived by his wife, Norma Owens; six children: Paul I. Owens, Tony L. Owens, Margo A. Grisset, Marlo A. Owens, Frank L. Owens Jr. and Tanya R. Adkins, all of Panama City, Fla.; 13 grandchildren; mother, Josephine Lee Owens of Savannah, Ga.; and three brothers: Lawrence C. Owens of Orlando, Fla., William A. Owens of Newman, Calif., and Gerald M. Owens of Mid-Way, Ga. Funeral services will be held today at 1 p.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. John Ramsey officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers are Tony Owens, Paul Owens, Frank Owens Jr., Lawrence Owens, William Owens, Gerald Owens, John Johnson and Randy Grissett.
