Mrs. Agnes Jackson, 99, of Vernon, passed away Feb. 2 in a local hospital. She was a native of Vernon, Fla., a member of New Bethel A.M.E. Church and a retired seamtress. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, Feb. 11, 1 p.m., at New Bethel A.M.E. Church in Vernon with the Rev. Youngblood Potter, the Rev. I. Simmons and the Rev. J. Gipson officiating. Interment will follow in Sylvania Cemetery in Vernon with Cooper Funeral Home directing. Survivors include a sister, Annie Ramsey of Chicago, Ill.; two nieces, Mrs. Luthel Henderson of Panama City and Mrs. Caretta Smith of Chicago; four nephews: Harvey Green, Marvin Green, Arthur (Loretta) Green of Panama City and Mayo (Betty) Green of Polk City, Fla.; and many other relatives. The remains will lie in state at the church one hour prior to services.

JAMES IRVING HATTON
James (Jim) Irving Hatton, 57, of Panama City was laid to rest on Feb. 9, 2000 in Evergreen Cemetery. He was of the Baptist faith and was an industrial mechanic. He was predeceased by his father, Baker Hatton and son, Steven Alan Hatton. Survivors include his wife, Charlotte Hatton; mother, Sillar Montgomery and her husband Orbin; one son, Kevin L. Hatton; one brother, Sonny Hatton; two sisters, Ann Tackett and Remonda Rowe; loving family and friends.

CHARLOTTE EVELYN MCCUSKER
Mrs. Charlotte Evelyn McCusker, age 64, of 271 Sims Ave., Callaway, Fla., died Sunday, Feb. 6, 2000 at her home. She was a homemaker and a lifetime resident of the area. Mrs. McCusker was a member of the Callaway Assembly of God Church, auxiliary president of the East Side Camp of the Gideons, and a member of the Bosom Buddies of the American Cancer Society. She was also nominated for the Jefferson Award. Mrs. McCusker was a devoted wife for 48 years, a mother, and grandmother. She was survived by her husband of 48 years, James R. McCusker of Callaway; daughters, Diana Schwoerer and her husband Ed of Callaway and Pamelia McCusker of Callaway; a son, Randy McCusker and his wife Tina of Callaway; mother, Essie Robbins Lee of Bayou George; grandchildren: Joshua and Jennifer Schwoerer, James Marshall and Jessica McCusker; sisters, Myra Elliott and her husband Karl and Teresa Jensen and her husband Gene, all of Panama City; brothers: David Robbins and his wife Doris of Lynn Haven, Jack Robbins and his wife Peggy of Fountain, and Joe Robbins and his wife Patsy of Springfield; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her father, William Benson Robbins and a brother, Larry Robbins. Funeral services were held 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 9 at Callaway Assembly of God with the Rev. Bobby Thompson, and the Rev. Wiley T. Davis officiating. Interment followed at Callaway Cemetery. Asked to serve as active pallbearers were: Butch Blanks, Bill Langley, Harold McFatter, Spencer Beach, Curtis Kent, Ryan Caporale, Scott Lingerfelt and Danny Venkler. Honorary pallbearers included: Gideons, and Auxiliary of the Gideons Eastside Camp and members of the Senior Class of Callaway Assembly of God. The family received friends at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Tuesday, Feb. 8 from 6 to 8 p.m. and a viewing was held an hour prior to service time at the church. In lieu of flowers, if you wish, contributions may be made to the Gideons Memorial Bible Fund, P.O. Box 35761, Panama City, FL 32412 - in memory of Charlotte McCusker.

MAE WRIGHT
Mrs. Mae Wright, age 90, of 901 Grace Ave., Panama City, Fla., died Monday, Feb. 7, 2000 at her son's residence. She has been a resident of the area for over half of her life, coming here from Port St. Joe, Fla. Mrs. Wright was born Oct. 3, 1909 in Holmes County, Fla., and was a homemaker. She is survived by a son, Willard B. Nelson and his wife Mary of Panama City; a daughter, Myrtle Ann McIntire and her husband Kenny of San Antonio, Texas ; a sister, Louise Davis of Panama City; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph H. Wright and a daughter, Joyce Nelson. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 11 at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Kenny Arnold from the Christian Church of Panama City officiating. Entombment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Asked to serve as active pallbearers are: Allen Edmund, Danny Cloud, James McVay, Donald Talley and Tommy Howell. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today, Feb. 10, from 6 to 8 p.m.

EDGAR JAMES WYNN
Mr. Edgar "Ed" James Wynn, 84, of 1801 Marvin Ave., Port St. Joe, Fla., died Monday, Feb. 7, 2000 in a Bay County hospital. Born in Jakin, Ga., he moved to Port St. Joe in 1938 from Panama City. He was a supervisor for the Port St. Joe Paper Company for which he worked with for 42 years. He attended Oak Grove Assemby of God Church and Port St. Joe Beach Baptist Chapel. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Navy. He was in the CCC Camp back in the 1930's and was a member of the VFW and the American Legion. He was a faithful and loving husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Marie Wynn of Port St. Joe; one son, Mr. Jerry Wynn and wife Jane of Chattahoochee, Fla.; one daughter, Ms. Joyce Suber of Vancouver, Wash.; five grandchildren: James Lester, Wendy Wynn Roberson both of Wewahitchka, Amy Wynn Heath of Port St. Joe, Jenny Marie Wynn of Gainesville, Ted Wynn of Chattahoochee; four great-grandsons: Jered Roberson, Jesse Lee Roberson, Trey Lester, Luke Lester all of Wewahitchka; one great-granddaughter, Jamie Jordan Heath of Port St. Joe; numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, Feb. 12 at 2 p.m. EST in Oak Grove Assembly of God Church with the Rev. David Nichols officiating and the Rev. Dave Fernandez assisting. Interment will follow in Holly Hills Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. EST.

JOSH BROCK
Josh Brock, 89, of Vernon, Fla., passed away Feb. 8, 2000, at West Florida Hospital in Pensacola. Mr. Brock was a native of Washington County, veteran of World War II and served with Sea Bee 47th Batallion. Visitation will be held today, Feb. 11, from 6 to 9 p.m. in Peel Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Feb. 12, at Bethel Primitive Baptist Church with Ralph Harris and Jesse Stanaland officiating. Burial will follow in Bethel Church Cemetery. Mr. Brock was preceded in death by his son, Kenneth Brock. He is survived by his wife, Jessie Pitts Brock of Vernon; daughters, Grace and husband A.E. Gipson of Pensacola, Janice and husband W.M. Minchin Jr. of St. John's Newfoundland, Canada; brothers: J.N. Brock of Bonifay, Hurdis Brock of Crestview, Drexel Brock of Milton and Bill Brock of Defuniak Spring; grandchildren: Ken Brock, Johnny Brock, Paul Gipson, Jessica Smith, Marina Gipson, Marty Minchin, Jonathan Minchin and Tanis Knight; 20 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

JEANETTE FIDLER DONN
Mrs. Jeanette Fidler Donn, age 71, of 145 N. Comet Ave., Panama City, Fla., died Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2000, at a local nursing home. She had been a lifelong resident of the area. Mrs. Donn enjoyed bingo, crossword puzzles, crocheting and needlepoint and made many of the Christmas gifts she gave. She also loved gospel music, especially the Statler Brothers. Mrs. Donn is survived by her sisters, Anita Branch and Juanita Simonds, both of Deland, Fla.; two brothers, Don Fidler of Parker, Fla., and Dan Fidler and his wife Carol of Callaway, Fla.; cousins, Mary Louise Finch of Lynn Haven, Fla., and Tommy Fidler of Lynn Haven; and numerous nieces and nephews. Graveside funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 12 at Callaway Cemetery with the Rev. Carnel Smith officiating. Interment will follow. The family will receive friends at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home today, Feb. 11, from 5 to 7 p.m.

CLARENCE M. GORDON
Mr. Clarence M. Gordon, age 95, of Panama City, Fla., died Thursday, Feb. 10, 2000, at his home. He had been a resident of the area for 30 years, coming here from Fernandina Beach, Fla. Mr. Gordon was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and Protestant by faith. He served his country in the U.S. Army and the U.S. Merchant Marines. Mr. Gordon is survived by his wife, Rachael H. Gordon of Panama City; a daughter, Paulette G. Webb and her husband Thomas B. of Panama City; a son, Michael C. Gordon and his wife Eugenia R. of Panama City; grandchildren: Tonya Gainey, Crystal Gordon, Sean T. Webb, and Jon-Michael C. Gordon; and a great-granddaughter, Rachael K. Greer. Graveside funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 12 at Forest Lawn Memorial Cemetery with the Rev. Jeff Scalf officiating. Interment will follow with military honors conducted by Fort Rucker. The family will receive friends at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home today, Feb. 11 from 6 to 8 p.m.

Funeral Services for Mr. Miles Junior Grice, age 74, of 510 College Ave., Panama City, Fla., who died Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2000, will be held at 2 p.m. today, Feb. 11, at North Sherman Avenue Community Church with the Rev. Johnny Cromer and the Rev. Jerry Adcock officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens.

NELSON ARTHUR HUMPHRIES
Mr. Nelson Arthur "Ted" Humphries, 77, of Panama City Beach, Fla., died Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2000, in a local hospital. Born in Frome Somerset, England, he moved here in 1979 from Atlanta, Ga., and was Episcopal by faith. He was an engineer with Boeing in Seattle and worked with Aerojet and Columbia Research. He was a veteran of World War II serving with the Royal Air Force where he served with distinction during the Battle of Britain. Mr. Humphries is survived by his wife, Gertrude Mary Humphries of Panama City; one son, Anthony Stephen Humphries of Atlanta. Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, Feb. 13 at 2 p.m. in Southerland Funeral Home Chapel.
