Mrs. Doris Felixine Coutu Davidson, 75, of 109 Missouri Avenue, Lynn Haven, Fla., died Tuesday, Feb. 29, 2000, at her home. Born in Springfield, Mass., she moved here in 1970 from Montgomery, Ala. She was retired from civil service as an accountant and was a member of St. John's Catholic Church. She was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Navy and was a member of Daughters of the Nile. Mrs. Davidson is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas S. Davidson; two children, William L. Davidson and Cecelia S. Riley and two grandchildren. She is survived by one son, CWO Thomas S. Davidson II and wife Alicia of El Paso, Texas ; four daughters: Julie A. Billot of Lynn Haven, Suzanne M. Reilly and husband Patrick of O'Fallon, Ill., (Mary) Theresa D. Garcia and husband James of Lynn Haven, Nancy J. Davidson and husband Bonifacio Rojas of Whittier, Alaska; one sister, Judy Fredette of Ludlow, Mass.; son-in-law, John O. Riley of San Antonio; eighteen grandchildren; and fifteen great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, March 4 at 10 a.m. in St. John's Catholic Church with Father Marty Bratek officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. military honors will be accorded at graveside. The family will receive friends at the funeral home this evening from 6 to 8 p.m. A rosary will be said at 7 p.m.

Robert W. (Bobby) Davis, Jr., 41, of 3938 W. 21st St. died Feb. 24, 2000, in a local hospital. He was a lifelong resident of Panama City. He attended the Public Schools of Bay County. He was a U.S. Army Veteran. He is survived by his children, Robert W. Davis III, Anthony C. Davis and their mother, Sharon Davis all of Omaha, Neb., Bobby Nicole Cook, Rollo Andre' Cook and their mother, Joyce Cook all of Omaha, Neb., Dante C. Davis and her mother, Michelle Pearson both of Valo, Calif., Kim Frazier and her mother, Mercedes Frazier both of Panama City; his mother, Janie Carter of Panama City; father, Robert W. Davis Sr.; of Kansas City, Kan.; sister, Sara Davis of Panama City; two brothers, Cavarious Davis (Colis) of Panama City, and Darrell Davis of Milwaukee, Wis.; two grandmothers, Lady Ethel Spires (Henry) of Panama City, and Tessie Davis of Kansas City, Kan.; a loving aunt, Laura Johnson of Panama City; a close family friend, Celestine Cherry of Panama City; a host of loving aunts, uncles, nieces nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral services for Mr. Davis will be held Saturday March 4 at 1:30 p.m. in St. Temple Church 1423 Fountain Ave. with Overseer Wilmar Lee officiating. Interment to follow in Hillside Cemetery. The remains will repose at the Church this evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and will lie in state at the Church on Saturday from ll a.m. until service time. The family will receive relatives and friends at 3938 W. 21st St.

Funeral Services for Mr. Harry Shaheen Deen of 819 Huntingdon Rd., Panama City, Fla., who died Tuesday., Feb. 29, 2000, will be held at 2 p.m. today, March 3 at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. TRUDIE SHINE DURHAM
Mrs. Trudie Shine Durham, 87, of Hampton, Fla., passed away Feb. 25, 2000, in Starke, Fla. She was born and raised in Butler County, Ala. She moved to Hampton, Fla., in 1946 where she joined Macedonia Baptist Church and married Willie Durham who preceded her in death. She leaves to mourn her passing two daughters; one son; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother, Samuel Shine of Panama City; one sister, Eolene Shine of Niagara Falls, N.Y.; special sister-in-law, Dorothy Jean Shine of Panama City; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services for Mrs. Durham will be held Saturday, March 4, in Hampton, Fla.

Mrs. Eliouse Todd Jernigan, 82, of St. Joe Beach passed away Wednesday, March 1, 2000, in Panama City. A native of Jackson County, she was a long time resident of St. Joe Beach, and was a member of Gospel Assembly Church in Panama City. Survivors include one son, Al Jernigan and wife Dorothy of Panama City; one daughter, Sharon Tharpe and husband Ronnie of Port St. Joe; ten grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and her sisters and brothers: John and Edell Fadio, Roy and Margaret Todd, Lloyd and Winnie Mae Todd, Calvin and Rita Todd, all of Port St. Joe, Va., and Bobby Burke of Eastpoint, Fla., Charlotte and David Edmondson of Richmond, Va., and Jean Schou of Morris, Ill. Graveside funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. EST on Saturday, March 4 at Holly Hill Cemetery, conducted by the Rev. Clyde Sharber. Interment will follow in the family plot. She will lie in state at Comforter Funeral Home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. EST today. Donations may be made to Gulf County Senior Citizens Association. The family would like to express their thanks for the excellent care at National Healthcare Center.

CARLTON F. METTILLE
Carlton F. Mettille, 84, of Dubuque, Iowa, and formerly of Panama City, died Feb. 29, 2000, in Dubuque. Carlton was born in Rossville, Iowa, to the parents of Ambrose and Frances (Mauss) Mettille. He was a lifelong member of Nativity Parish where he ushered for many years. Carlton married Dorothy Luchterhand on Feb. 4, 1937, at Holy Ghost Catholic Church and was an Army veteran of World War II. He owned and operated Mettille Sheet Metal until his retirement in 1980. He was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Kevin and Robin; two brothers; and two sisters. Survivors are his wife, Dorothy, of Dubuque; two sons, Paul (Harriette) Mettille of Panama City, Ambrose (Pat) Mettille of Davenport; two daughters, Ruth (Jim) McGrath of Davenport, Dorothy (Denny) Hageman of DeWitt, Iowa; 14 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be today, March 3 from 3 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held, March 4 at 10 a.m. in The Church of the Nativity with burial in Mr. Calvary Cemetery. Rosary will be recited at 4:30 p.m.

MAMIE SIM RIVERS
Mrs. Mamie Sim Rivers, a.k.a. "Seminole", 89, of Panama City, Fla., died Feb. 24, 2000, in St. Louis Mo. Mrs. Rivers was born April 20, 1910, in Quinttett, Fla., to the late Melissa Carlton (Albert) birth parents and adoptive parents to the late Oliver and Victoria Reaves. She was baptized in the A.M.E. faith at an early age and was an active member of Greater Bethel A.M.E. church for more than 54 years, where she continued until her demise. In 1945, Mrs. Rivers was united in marriage to the late Rev. Carter C. Simms, an A.M.E. minister of the West Florida Conference. To this union one daughter was born. He preceded her in death. Mrs. Rivers later met and married the late Lewis Rivers and from that union were two sons and a daughter, who preceded her in death. She was a devoted member of Queen Esther Wise Chapter 25 O.E.S., Choir No. 2, served as a member of Stewardess Board and a pass member of Ladies Aide for several years. She is survived by her daughter, CMS (Ret.) USA Rosa S. Daliz of St. Louis; two sons, Ronald J. Rivers (Cynthia) of Panama City and SFC (Ret.) USA Lawrence L. Rivers (Vicki) of Ewa Beach, Hawaii; five granchildren: Aurora Fluhr of St. Louis, Christopher Rivers of Panama City, Jamila, Makede and Genesis Rivers of Ewa Beach and Jasmine Rivers of Panama City; a grand-daughter-in-law, Suzette Rivers (Rodrick) of St. Petersburg; five great-grandchildren: Lake G. Fluhr of St. Louis, Manuel "Mannie" of Panama City, Ashley and Rodrick J. Rivers II of St. Petersburg, Jonathan Rochette of Jacksonville; a loving sister, Lassie Bowman of Cleveland, Ohio, a sister-in-law, Rosie Lee Hayes of Jackson County; a niece, Fannie Pearl Collins of Jackson County and a host of cousins: the Carlton, Tanner and Rivers families of Marianna and Jackson County and the Cotton family of Panama City. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. March 4 at Greater Bethel A.M.E Church with the Rev. O.C. Williams officiating. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery. Mrs. Rivers will be viewed from 8 to 10 a.m. on March 4 at Greater Bethel A.M.E. Church. "For everything there is an appointed season, and a time for everything under the heavens." VIRGINIA BRANDT WHITEHORN
Virginia Brandt Whitehorn, greatly beloved wife of Dr. Clark Whitehorn and mother of Robert Whitehorn, died Thursday morning, March 2, 2000. She was born in Baltimore, Maryland, December 19, 1923. She attended Hollins College for Women in Roanoke, Va., where she majored in Latin, following which she met and married Dr. Whitehorn. They celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary in May of 1999. She bore two sons, Clark Jr. and Robert. She is survived by her husband, Dr. Clark Whitehorn; her son Robert; a grandson, Clark Whitehorn III of Lynn Haven, Fla., a brother, Charles E. Brandt of Baltimore, Md., and two nephews, Bucky Brandt of Underhill, Vt., and John Brandt of Munich, Germany. She worked 33 years as a medical secretary and transcriptionist. She was a former president of the Bay County Medical Society Auxiliary and actively supported the St. Andrew Bay Yacht Club Auxiliary. She was a member of the Monday afternoon Bible Study group and staunch member of First Presbyterian Church. She loved languages and took both conversational Spanish and French courses at Gulf Coast College. Virginia was an extremely kind and gentle person and best described as a truly genuine and lovely lady. She was a philanthropist and contributed heavily to a multitude of charitable organizations. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Walter Cathey officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens.
