Juanita Williams, 86, of Marianna died early Monday morning, Dec. 29, 2003, at Jackson Hospital.

She was born Oct. 1, 1917, in Jackson County to Luther and Bessie Ingram.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Williams.

She is survived by: one sister, Leona Bea Webb of Marianna; three nieces, Elizabeth and her husband Frank Neel of Marianna, Judy and her husband Douglas Crumpler of Crestview and Sue Ingram of Marianna; one nephew, Jimmy and his wife Agnes Branton of Altha; two sisters-in-law, Mary Ingram and Edna Ingram, both of Marianna; and one special friend, Evon Darby of Chattahoochee.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 3, 2004, at Grace United Methodist Church with Rev. Jim Harbert officiating.

Lord Funeral Home of Marianna is in charge of arrangements.

Genous R. Mayo, 73, of Marianna, joined Jesus Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2003, at 10 p.m. at Jackson Hospital.

We will miss him so much and thanks to our faithful Lord we can face this.

He was born in Jackson County, where he was lifetime resident except for his time spent in the U.S. Army, serving in the Korean Conflict.

He was of the Christian faith. He retired from the U.S. Post Office with more than 30 years of service.

He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Annis D. Mayo of Marianna; his children, the Rev. Gino Mayo and his wife Susie of Hazelhurst, Ga., Glenda Lyn Mayo of Marianna, Larry V. Dean and his wife Nancy of Marianna, Greg Dean and his wife Wanda of Gardendale, Ala., Bill J. Dean and his wife Brenda of Marianna; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; one brother, James I. Mayo and his wife Kathryn; two sisters, Marie Joiner and Myrtle Patterson, all of Marianna; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held Saturday, Jan. 3, at 10 a.m. CST at Maddox Chapel with the Rev. Gino Mayo officiating. Burial will be in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens with full graveside military honors given by the American Legion Sneads Post 241. James and Sykes Funeral Home, Maddox Chapel of Marianna will direct. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. tonight, Friday, Jan. 2, at the funeral home.

Emma Lou Hinson, 63, of Graceville, passed away at her residence on Thursday, Jan. 1, 2004 after a long illness.

She was born on Nov. 24, 1940, in Houston County, Ala., to Porter Vann and Josie Lee Cobb. She lived all of her life in the Graceville area.

She was a member of the Damascus Baptist Church in Graceville and worked at Peoples Bank of Graceville for several years. She loved working with her flowers and the love of her family.

She is survived by her husband, Randall, and her son Michael; seven brothers, W.F. Vann of Panama City, Leroy Vann of Panama City, Ralph Vann of Boise, Idaho, Robert Vann of Pompano Beach, Raymond Vann of Southport, Jimmy Vann of Bayou George, Bill Vann of Eustis; one sister, Doris Williams of Bethlehem; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, David Vann and Floyd Vann.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 3, in the chapel at the Williams Funeral Home of Graceville, Dr. Harry Kinchen officiating. Burial will follow in the Marvin Chapel Cemetery in Graceville. The family will receive friends on Friday, Jan. 2, from 6-8 p.m. at the Williams Funeral Home Chapel in Graceville.

Flowers will be accepted. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Emerald Coast, 4374 Lafayette St., Marianna.

Shephard William Bell, 64, better known as "Shep," died Dec. 28, 2003 in Jackson Hospital.

Survivors include his wife, Iola "Tot" Bell of Marianna; a daughter, Ada Bradshaw; a son, Shephard W. Bell II; step-sons Allen S. Rivers Jr. and Angelo Rivers, both of Marianna; step-daughters Alean Miller, Sybil Rivers and Temetris Rivers, all of Marianna; sisters and brothers Ruth Baker and husband George, Florida McMillan and husband Lloyd, Christine McKinnie and husband Shira; Verda Bowers and her husband the Rev. George, Sr., Hampshire Peterson and wife Bessie Lee, Sonya Bowers and her husband the Rev. Eddie, Voncile Giles and husband Darryl, Kathryn Johnson and husband Cleo, Tuina Sharpe and Cassandra Bell, all of Marianna; and 11 grandchildren.

The funeral will be held Tuesday, Jan. 6, at 1 p.m. at St. James African Methodist Episcopal Church with the Revs. Carlton Taylor, F. Menchion, Minister C. Johnson, Presiding Elder Thelma Shaw-Young and the Rev. Nathan Mugala officiating. Interment will be in the Orange Hill Cemetery with Vann Funeral Home in charge.

The body will lie at the church from noon Tuesday until time for the funeral.

Marie Harvey Hartsfield, 67, died on Saturday, Jan. 3, 2004, at Jackson Hospital in Marianna.

She was a 1955 graduate of Jackson County Training School. She was a native of Sneads and a member of Little Zion Baptist Church. She was a retired from Hillsborough County Hospital in Tampa and Sunland in Marianna. She was employed with Human Health Services in Marianna at the time of her death.

She is survived by: Four sons, Barry McMillan of Arcadia, Lorenza McMillan of Sneads, Luther B. Phillips III of Marianna, and Reginald L. McWhite (Ann) of Tampa; four sisters, Dorothy Roger (Willie) of Ft. Lauderdale, Estelle Harvey of Oxon Hill, Md., Margean Smith (Jewel) of Greenwood, and Colonel Westana Bobbit (Jimmy) of Washington D.C.; two brothers, L.C. Harvey (Siebert) of Washington D.C. and John Harvey "Red" (Joyce) of Sneads; one step-sister, Lillie B. Johnson (Thomas) of Tallahassee; one step-brother, James Harvey of Bainbridge, Ga.; and six grandchildren.

The funeral will be held Saturday, Jan. 10, at 11 a.m. at Second West Baptist Association Church with the Revs. Eddie Bowers and Paul Daniels, Ministers James Taylor and Joe Jackson, and Bishop Willis Raines officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The body will lie at the church one hour prior to the funeral. The family will receive friends at the Little Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Sneads on Friday, Jan. 9, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m.

Vann Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Christine Bell Peace, 89, of Marianna died Thursday, Jan. 1, 2004, in the Marianna Convalescent Center.

She was a native of the Jerusalem community in Marianna and a member of the Jerusalem African Methodist Episcopal Church.

She is survived by: Two brothers, Cleveland Bell Sr. of Marianna and Paul Bell Sr. and his wife Sarah of Akron, Ohio; a niece, Barbara Pittman, whom she reared as her very own; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Pedro Peace and his wife Martha, and Lena Jenkins, both of Tampa, Lewis Peace and his wife Maggie of Chicago, Ill., Eddie Peace, and Alice and Louise Bell, all of Marianna; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many sorrowing friends.

The funeral will be held Saturday, Jan. 10, at 1 p.m. at Jerusalem African Methodist Episcopal Church with the Revs. Klint James, Eloise James, and Minister Isaiah Morgan officiating. Burial will be in the Jerusalem Church cemetery with Vann Funeral Home directing.

The body will lie at the church one hour prior to the funeral.

Flora Pauline Moore, 90, of Marianna died Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2004, in Marianna.

She was a native of Bonifay and had lived in Gainesville for more than 20 years. She moved to Jackson County in 1985. She was a retired sales clerk and a member of the Cypress Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Henry Moore in 1978 and a brother, Buford Chesnut.

She is survived by: her son, Harold Moore and his wife Ruth of Marianna; two sisters, Velma Whitaker and Elvie Lawrence, both of Bonifay; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held at 3 p.m., Friday, Jan. 9, at Maddox Chapel with Dr. William H. Hooppell officiating. Burial will be in Carpenter Cemetery with James and Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. today, Thursday, at the funeral home.

Missionary Ruth Sims Jackson-McCollum, 74, of Brooklet, Ga. and formerly of Jackson County, died Saturday, Jan. 3, 2004, in the East Georgia Regional Medical Center is Statesboro, Ga.

She was a native of Greenwood and had been living in Brooklet, Ga. since 1979. She was a member of God's Little Mission Church in Arcola, Ga. where she served as a missionary and chairman of the "Family and Friends Day" program.

She is survived by: Three daughters, Paula Evette Lockart and her husband Otis of Stilson, Ga., Paulette Yvonne Jackson of Brooklet, Ga. and Helen Jackson of Melbourne; three sons, Charles Jackson and his wife Sheila and Gerald Jackson and his wife Carmalita, all of Miami, and Eddie Jackson Jr. and his wife Angie of Melbourne; three sisters, Gehazel Sims and Nancy Highsmith and her husband LD, all of Greenwood, and Edna Golden and her husband Jimmy of East Orange, N.J.; two step-sisters, Lola B. Pollock of Bradenton and Lizzie A. Sims of Greenwood; two brothers, Ben Sims Jr. of Greenwood and Edward Sims and his wife Eloise of Irvington, N.J.; 17 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be held Saturday, Jan. 10, at Mt. Tabor Missionary Baptist Church at 1 p.m. with the Revs. Hayward Teague, Lucious Williams and William Harvey officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Peoples Funeral Home of Marianna directing.

The body will lie at the church one hour prior to the funeral.

William Hubert Watson, 71, of Port St. Joe, formerly of Alford, died Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2004, in the Gulf Pines Hospital.

He was a lifelong resident of this area. He retired from the St. Joe Paper Company as a heavy equipment operator. He was a life member of the VFW. He served our country proudly in the U.S. Army and in the Korean War.

He was preceded in death by: His wife, Pat; and two brothers, Charles Watson and Harvey Watson.

He is survived by: Three brothers, J.L. Watson and his wife Lorene of Alford, Allen R. Watson of Port St. Joe and Raymond R. Watson and his wife Diane of Port St. Joe; and three sisters, Dorothy Jones and her husband William Earl of LaGrange, N.C., Mae Arnette and her husband VanDrew of Pensacola, and Frances Williamson of Warner Robbins, Ga.

The funeral will be held Friday, Jan. 9, at 2 p.m. in the Salem Freewill Baptist Church with Pastor Donnie Hussey officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends today, Thursday, Jan. 8, from 6 until 8 p.m. in the Marianna Chapel Funeral Home.

Anita S. Speck, 82, of Fort Walton Beach died Sunday, Dec. 28, 2003.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Pensacola.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold T. Speck.

She is survived by: Two daughters, Jane Speck Fike of Birmingham and Sandy Speck of Saint Augustine; and her grandchildren, Elizabeth Fike, Rodger Fike and William Fike, all of Birmingham.

A graveside service will be held Friday, Jan. 9, at 2 p.m. at the Barrancas Cemetery at the Pensacola NAS.

Donations of memorials may be made to a charity of your choice.

Leslie Robert Brown, 90, of Marianna died Thursday, Jan. 8, 2004, at Jackson Hospital.

He was a native of Sunbright, Tenn. and had lived in Jackson County for more than 30 years. He was retired from the U.S. Air Force after 21 years of service. He attended the Cypress Community Church and was loved by all who knew him.

He is survived by: His wife, Myrtice Brown of Marianna; three sons, Ricky Brown and Rev. Jerry Mears of Marianna, and Robert Owen Brown; three daughters, Frieda Mercer of Dellwood, Susie Walters of Lenox, Ga. and Anissa Brown; one sister, Margie Agnott of Michigan; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be held Sunday, Jan. 11, at 2 p.m. CST at Cypress Community Church with the Revs. Robert Simmons and Bill Wheeler officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery with James and Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 10, at the church.
