SARAH FRANCES 'FANNIE' MONTGOMERY
Mrs. Fannie Montgomery passed away Sunday, March 12, at 2:35 a.m. in Port St. Joe after an extended illness. She was born Sarah Frances Kirk to James and Irene Kirk on June 4, 1921, in Compass Lake, Fla. A native of Jackson County, she moved to Port St. Joe after she married the late George Lenard Montgomery and has resided here for more than 60 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church. She is survived by a daughter, Sarah Ann Williams and husband Tommy of Clarksville; two sons, Robert Lenard Montgomery Sr. and wife Helen of Port St. Joe, and George Edward Montgomery of St. Joe Beach; two sisters, Ioma Seay of Port St. Joe and TheraG Burge of Blountstown; 10 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at the First Baptist Church in Port St. Joe at 2 p.m. today, March 14, with the Rev. Billy Rich and the Rev. H.R. Naberhuis officiating. Internment will follow in Holly Hill Cemetery.

HELEN ANITA DEKLE SMITH
Mrs. Helen Anita Dekle Smith, 91, of Marianna, died Saturday evening at Chipola Nursing Pavillion in Marianna. She was a lifelong resident of this area and a member of First Baptist Church in Marianna. Mrs. Smith was a former Jackson County Elementary school teacher. Survivors include one brother, Hal P. Dekle of Venice, Fla., 13 nieces and nephews including a nephew, Emory Singletary and wife Juanita of Marianna. Graveside services for Mrs. Smith will be held Thursday, March 16, at 11 a.m. in Greenwood Baptist Church Cemetery in Greenwood with Father Gene Carpenter officiating with Marianna Chapel Funeral Home directing.

GEORGE OLLIE WHITESELL
On Sunday, March 12, 2000, Mr. George Ollie Whitesell went to be with the Lord and his loved ones. All who knew him well will feel a deep sense of loss at his passing, but his extraordinary kindness, strength, humor and generosity will be with us forever. George follows his beloved wife of 53 years, Viola Cooper Whitesell, and a grandson, George McKeehan Roberts. He was also preceded in death by two older brothers, Ralph and Cliff Whitesell of Lewisburg, Tenn., where George was born on Feb. 18, 1917. Mr. Whitesell relocated from Cleveland, Ohio., to Panama City Beach in 1982 when he retired as vice president of Sales from Chromium Corporation of America. He was very active in the Cleveland Roamers Golf Association and had been a Mason for many years. George is survived by his two daughters; Carolyn W. Roberts of Panama City Beach and Cathryn Sheridan and husband Cobb and a grandson Derek Sheridan, all of Orlando, Fla., Ms. Bobbi Rosser and Mr. Tom Brisse of Panama City Beach, who were like family and deeply loved by Mr. Whitesell, also survived along with a stepson, Henry O. Mins and wife Dell of Birmingham, Ala. George led an active and interesting life virtually until his passing and his interests were varied and many, including his lifelong love of the game of golf. He also leaves behind Mr. Sam Floyd and all of his friends and extended family at The Holiday Golf Club, whom he adored and where he worked as a Marshall. We invite all who loved him and were touched by his life to attend the funeral service today, March 14, at 4 p.m. at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Charles Key officiating. Come celebrate Mr. George Whitesell's wonderful life.

MILDRED E. JOHNSON
Mrs. Mildred E. Johnson, age 90, wife of Henry A. Johnson (deceased) died at 1 a.m. EST March 12, 2000, in her sleep at Bay Saint Joseph Care Center on Port St. Joe, Fla. She was a former resident of New Milford, N.J., Albany, Ga., and St. Joe Beach, Fla. She is survived by her two children, Eileen R. Taska of Greenwich, Conn., and Ronald H. Johnson of Mexico Beach; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Mrs. Johnson was employed for 27 years by Sears Roebuck and Co. as a personnel training specialist, and after retirement moved to Albany, Ga., and became an assistant bookkeeper for St. Paul's Episcopal Church, where she was a member. She was a life member of Tenakill Chapter No. 235 of the Order of the Eastern Star, of Tenafly, N.J., and a former member of First Reformed Church, in Hackensack, N.J. A memorial service will be conducted at St. James Episcopal Church, 800 22nd Street, Port St. Joe, Fla. on Saturday, March 25, at 11 a.m. EST. Arrangements for a second memorial service and interment on April 8, at George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus, N.J., are being developed. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in her memory to St. James' Episcopal Church memorial fund, P.O. Box 786, Port St. Joe, Fla. 32457. The family wishes to express their sincere thanks and appreciation to the employees of Bay Saint Joseph Care Center. Their professional and loving care added much to the quality of our mother's life over the past five and a half years. God bless you all. March 13, 2000.

JAMES CLYDE MAULDIN SR.
James Clyde Mauldin Sr., 83, of Lynn Haven, Fla., died Monday, March 13, 2000, in a Panama City hospital. He was a retired owner and operator of a shoe repair business. He had been a resident of Bay County for four years moving here from Waldo, Fla. He was a member of the Masonic lodge in Waldo and the First Baptist Church of Lynn Haven. He was preceded in death by a brother, Gettis Mauldin; and two sisters, Ida Clark and Ethel Warmack. He is survived by his wife, Mildred Hall Mauldin of Lynn Haven; six children: Barbara Jean Wilson and husband, Robert of Gainesville, Judy Ruff and husband, Joe, of Panama City, Linda Simmons and husband, Jorge of Salido, Calif., Carol Curington of Panama City, James Mauldin Jr and wife Vera of Gainesville, Louise Castillo and husband, Tom of San Antonio, Texas ; brother, Nathan Pete Mauldin and wife, Donnie; two sisters, Eula Sapp, both of Williston, Fla., Gertrude Sullivan of Gainesville; 13 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. EST in First Baptist Church of Williston with then Rev. Tony Clubb officiating. Interment will follow in Orange Hill Cemetery in Williston. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. Those desiring to may make a contribution to the Building Funds of the First Baptist Church of Lynn Haven or the First Baptist Church of Waldo.

SUE ANN OSBORNE ARRINGTON
Sue Ann Osborne Arrington, age 52, of Panama City Beach, passed away at her home on Friday, March 10, 2000 after a courageous three-year battle with cancer. Mrs. Arrington is survived by her husband, Tom; her daughter, Emily Arrington of Charlotte, N.C.; her parents, Albert (Ozzie) and Patsy Osborne of Norfolk, Va.; a brother, Steve Osborn of Layton, Utah and a brother Mike and sister-in-law, Beth Osborne of Chesapeake, Va. Born in Roanoke, Va., Mrs. Arrington was a longtime resident of Yorktown, Va., before moving to Panama City in 1995. The family would like to thank the employees at the Coastal Systems Station for their support, prayers and many acts of kindness and generosity. The family also expresses a deep appreciation to Drs. Peter Imber, Steven Kinsey, Charles Nichols, and especially to Drs. Matthew Sweetser and Fernando Malamud and the wonder staff at Gulf Coast Cancer Treatment Center and Hospice of Northwest Florida. Those wishing to make a memorial contribution may make them to Panama City chapter of American Cancer Society, Coastal Systems Station Children's Christmas Party (c/o Karen Sexton), Horse-Shoo Ranch (c/o John and Tina Baxter) or Hospice of Northwest Florida. Services were held on March 15, 2000 at Colonial Heights Church of Christ in Norfolk, Va. Interment followed at Forrest Lawn Cemetery also in Norfolk, Va.

LAUREN LETITIA BROWN
Our precious angel, Lauren, went to see Jesus on March 14, 2000. She was born on July 15, 1997. She is survived by her parents, Don and Letitia Warnock Brown. She leaves behind her sisters, Xanthia Clark and LeeAnn Brown, and her brothers, Donnie and Craig Brown. Her maternal grandparents are Lowell and Jeannette Warnock of Oxford, Fla.; her paternal grandparents are Jean Poole of Hot Springs Village, Ark., and Joe Brown of Houston, Texas . Her aunts are: Carol Poole, Jeannie Moore, Grace Fields and uncle, Joe (JD) Brown; and her uncles, Jerry Moore and Marc Fields. Cousins are: Danielle and Joey Brown, Leah Poole, Jessica Moore, Anthony Moore, Chelsea and Ryan Warner, and Jeremy and Andy Moore. She is a wonderful gift from God, and we are thankful for the joy she brought to her family for the short time we had her here on earth. She is loved and will be missed by all. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in Wilson Funeral Home Chapel. There will be a private viewing for the family from 5 to 6 p.m. Friday and the family will receive friends from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

SARAH GUYNN CARTER
Sarah Guynn Carter, 77, of 2939 W. 30th Court, Panama City, died Wednesday, March 15, 2000 in a local hospital. She was a retired administrative assistant at Sanford University and the University of San Francisco State. She had been a resident of Panama City for 11 years moving here from Palo Alto, Calif. She was a member of the League of Women's Voters, the Audubon Society of Bay County, the Woman's Club of Bay County, and was a volunteer tutor at the Bay County Library. She is survived by her husband, Sam Carter of Panama City; son, James A. Ebeling and his wife Lee of Hawaii; granddaughter, Kiana Ebeling; grandson, William Ebeling; three stepchildren: Susan Chiaramonte and her husband Peter, Cara Choi, Sam Carter III and his wife Jennifer; four stepgrandchildren: Courtney Choi, Cassidy Choi, Sean Stepleton, Kristyne Stepleton. Graveside services will be held at a later date in Hawaii. Those desiring to may make a contribution to the Audubon Society of Bay County in memory of Mrs. Carter.

HORACE 'HOOKS' DAFFIN
Mr. Horace "Hooks" Daffin, age 84, of 1511 Mulberry Ave., Panama City, Fla., died Tuesday, March 14, 2000 at his residence. He had been a resident of the area since 1930. Mr. Daffin was the retired former owner of Daffin's Service Station and a member of Calvary Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Effie Daffin of Panama City; sons, John E. Daffin and his wife Shirley of Lynn Haven and James Daffin and his wife Mary Ann of Youngstown; sister, Frances Pilcher of Marianna; a brother, Joe Daffin of Marianna; grandchildren: Leigh Anne Summey of Eastman, Ga., Brian Daffin, Kelly Lewis, Jennifer Holland and Jason Daffin, all of Panama City; and three great-grandchildren. Graveside funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Friday, March 17, at Greenwood Cemetery with the Rev. Jim Hankins officiating. Interment will follow. Asked to served as active pallbearers are: Tommy Hamm, Mike Hamm, Doug Lindsey, Jo Carl Lindsey, Bo Hamm and Jimmy Standland. The family will receive friends at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home today, March 16, from 6 to 8 p.m.

FRANCES P. DeCRESCENZO
Mrs. Frances P. DeCrescenzo, age 73, of 3311 B St., Panama City, Fla., died Tuesday, March 14, 2000 at a local hospital. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Dominic's Catholic Church. Mrs. DeCrescenzo is survived by her two sons, Lawrence DeCrescenzo Jr. and his wife JoAnn of Panama City and Kevin DeCrescenzo and his wife Marla of Hollywood, Fla.; four daughters: Nora Arlene Clark and her husband David Sr., Deborah Coppala, Jodie Miller and her husband Robert, and Robyn Chamberlain and her husband Scott, all of Panama City; 23 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, March 18, at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Monsignor William A. Crowe officiating. Entombment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today, March 16, from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday, March 17, from 6 to 8 p.m.
