S.E. DENNY
S.E. Denny, 81, of Panama City, died Saturday, March 18, 2000, in a local hospital. He was a retired contracting officer for the Civil Service. He had been a resident since 1973, moving here from Redondo Beach, Calif. He was a member of the St. Andrew United Methodist Church, Bay County Audubon Society, chaplain for the AMVETS Post 549, past president of Augora Hiking Club, past vice-president of AARP Chapter 1315, St. Andrews Community Men's Club, National Association of Retired Federal Employees and National Federation of Federal Employees. He was a veteran serving in the United States Air Force during WWII. He is survived by a son, Robert E. Denny and his wife Daneen of High Springs, Fla.; daughter, Dorothy Denny of Hawaii; two grandsons, Paul Denny and Brian Denny of California; granddaughter, Dawn Robertson of Hawaii; great-grandson, Connor Denny-O'Malley of California; and cousins, Mr. and Mrs. H.B. Stevens of Ft. Myers, Fla. Funeral services will be held Monday at 10:30 a.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ed Britton and the Rev. Henry Hazard officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 4 to 6 p.m. Graveside services will be held Tuesday at 12:30 p.m. in the National Cemetery in Biloxi, Miss. Those desiring to may make a contribution to the Suncoast Seabird Sanctuary, 18328 Gulf Blvd., Indian Shores, Fla. 34635-2097 or Save-the-Redbirds League, 114 Sansome, Room 605, San Francisco, Ca. 94104 in memory of Mr. Denny.

RAY PARKER GATLIFF
Ray Parker Gatliff, 80, of 1415 Dewitt St., Panama City, died Friday, March 17, 2000, in a local hospital. He was retired civil service at Tyndall A.F.B. He had been a resident of Panama City since 1945. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Panama City and the Panama City Country Club. He is survived by his wife, Ruby Cutchins Gatliff of Panama City; daughter, Barbara Gatliff Orr of Tampa, Fla.; son, Jeff Gatliff of Melbourne, Fla. Graveside funeral services will be held Monday at 1 p.m. in the Evergreen Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Walter Cathey officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2 to 4 p.m. this afternoon. Those desiring to may make a contribution to the American Heart Association in memory of Ray Gatliff.

MILLARD P. GEORGE
Graveside funeral services for Mr. Millard P. George, 89, of Panama City, who died Thursday, March 16, 2000, in a local nursing home, will be at Bethany Baptist Church, 10 miles north of Bonifay on State 79 N, today, March 19, at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Ron Cole officiating. Interment will follow at Bethany Baptist Cemetery, located at the church. The body will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, friends may make a donation to the Van Fund of Bethany Baptist Church, Rt. 2 Box 220H, Bonifay, Fla. 32425. Active pallbearers are Steve George, Bobby George, Mike Marlow, Millard Balkcom, Jerry Balkcom, Larry Balkcom, Jackie Balkcom, Dale Ard, Jimmy Rowell, James Beauchamp and Lloyd Coram.

LONIE HARTZOG HOWELL
Mrs. Lonie Hartzog Howell, 94, of Panama City, Fla., died Thursday evening, March 16, 2000, in a local nursing home. Born in Coffee Springs, Ala., she was a lifelong resident of this area. She was employed by the Woodcrest Nursery and Garden and the Garden Gate Nursery. She was Primitive Baptist by faith. Mrs. Howell is preceded in death by a son, Thomas E. Howell, in 1960. She is survived by one son, Bill R. Howell and wife Hazel of Lynn Haven, Fla.; one daughter, Aundoris H. Bevis and husband Foster P. of Panama City Fla., daughter-in-law Mary C. Howell of Albuquerque, N.M.; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted today, March 19, at 2 p.m. in the Southerland Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Steve Southerland II officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers: Mickey Bevis, Jerry Bevis, Andy Bevis, Mark Gentry and Rick Snellgrove.

LEDDIE MAE LAWRENCE
Mrs. Leddie Mae Lawrence, 83, of Callaway, Fla., died Friday, March 17, 2000, at her home. Born in Malone, Fla., she moved to Bay County in 1953 from Blakely, Ga. She was a housewife and a member of Callaway Baptist Church. Mrs. Lawrence is survived by her husband, William T. Lawrence of Callaway, Fla.; three sons: Eddie L. Lawrence and wife Myrna, Richard O. Lawrence and wife Sandra, William T. Lawrence Jr., all of Callaway, Fla.; one daughter, Joanne Talley and husband Jimmy Sr. of Springfield, Fla.; one sister, Ollie Welch of Mt. Dora, Fla.; 12 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, March 20, in the Southerland Funeral Home Chapel at 10 a.m. with the Rev. R.C. Warren officiating. Interment will follow in Rocky Grove Cemetery in Malone, Fla. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Richard Caldwell, Hulland Brown, William Downs, Joe Horne, R.L. Horne and Thomas Baxter. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. this evening.

BENEVA S. McCLELLAN
Mrs. Beneva S. McClellan, 83, of Lynn Haven, Fla., died Saturday, March 18, 2000, in a local nursing home. Born in Blountstown, Fla., she was a lifelong resident of this area. She was a homemaker, Baptist by faith, and was a member of the Crochet Club. Mrs. McClellan was preceded in death by two daughters, Jane Adams and Ann Stanley, and one granddaughter, Raina Stanley. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother to her husband of 62 years, Leslie E. McClellan of Lynn Haven, Fla.; two sons: Jack E. Stanley and wife Kay and Doug McClellan, all of Lynn Haven, Fla.; two daughters: Leslie Joan and husband John Robinson of Crestview, Fla., Martha Mason and husband Butch of Lynn Haven, Fla.; grandchildren: Eric, Barry and Vickie Robinson, Susan Morrison, Paul Mason, Laura Corder, Lore Hummell, Greg Levins, Paula DePaulo, Kim and Shelly Stanley, Mark and Bryant Stanley, Debbie Tatum; and numerous great-grandchildren. Graveside funeral services for Mrs. McClellan will be conducted on Monday, March 20 at 2:30 p.m. in the Lynn Haven Cemetery with the Rev. Harry McClellan officiating. MILLARD 'JACK' MINCHEW
Mr. Millard "Jack" Minchew, 76, beloved husband of Juanita Minchew of Callaway and Wewahitchka, Fla., passed away Friday, March 17, 2000, at Gulf Coast Medical Center in Panama City, Fla. Jack, a decorated Veteran honored with Purple Heart & Bronze Medal, was proud to have served his country during World War ll. He served four years as a Callaway City Commissioner and was known throughout the southeastern United States as an avid Sportsman. His memory will be lovingly cherished by his sons: Donnie Minchew and wife Angie of Wewahitchka, Fla., Jimmy Minchew and wife Rachel of Callaway, Fla.; daughter Darla Wilson of Jacksonville, Fla.; grandchildren: Greg Wilson and wife Tammy, Jory Blumer and wife Nicole, James Michael Minchew and wife Melody, Beth Wilson, Kevin Minchew, Stephanie Minchew, Stacy Minchew, Arielle Boye, Joel Gonzalez, and Jocelyn Minchew; great-grandchildren: Jessica Norris, Miranda Wilson, Dallas Minchew, Austin Minchew, and Kory Blumer. Jack also leaves behind a host of family and friends including his mother-in-law Trudie Dauphin; Aunt Detla Mathews; brothers: William W. "Junior" Minchew and wife Verleen, and Gordon Minchew; sisters: Myrleen Culbreth, Minnie Lee Leneve, and Brenda Taggart; sister-in-laws: Ouida Ward, and Jean Weirts; brother-in-laws: Mildon Dauphin and wife Sue, and Paul Dauphin and wife Ann; son-in-law Glen Wilson; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, March 20, at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Homes, Panama City, Fla., conducted by the Rev. Gene Hodges and Mr. Mildon Dauphin. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery. The Bay County Sheriff's Department honor guard will serve as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Mr. Minchew's telephone friends. HAZEL SPEARS VAUGHAN
Mrs. Hazel Spears Vaughan, 67, of South Johnson St., Samson, Ala., and of Panama City Beach, Fla., died Wednesday, March 15, 2000, in Houston, Texas , following an extended illness. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 17 in the Gulf View United Methodist Church of Panama City Beach with her pastor, the Rev. Jim Fillingiam officiating. Interment will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday in the New Home Baptist Church Cemetery with Pittman Funeral Home of Samson directing. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to Mrs. Vaughan's church, Gulfview United Methodist Church, 232 Rose Lane, Panama City Beach, Fla. 32413. Mrs. Vaughan was born Aug. 14, 1932, in Samson, Ala. She was the daughter of the late Noah and Lillie Pearl Jones Spears. Mrs. Vaughan was a resident of Samson for most of her life. She graduated from Samson High School and the University of Montevallo. She had worked as a retail ladies fashion buyer, and later as owner of a ladies dress shop. She retired as supervisor of the Child Welfare Department for the state of Alabama. Mrs. Vaughan was a devoted wife and Christian. She is survived by her husband, Glen Vaughan of Panama City Beach, Fla.; stepsons and daughter-in-law: John Glenn Vaughan of Atlanta, Ga., and Allison Morgan and Ronnie Vaughan of Dothan, Ala.; one sister, Frances Spears of Kinston, Ala.; nieces: Nyokia Bowdoin of Elba, Ala., Charla Adkison of Enterprise, Ala., and Alice Ann Brewer of Tampa, Fla.; two nephews, Johnny Brewer of Ft. Myers, Fla., and Joel Brewer of Tampa, Fla.; great nephew Bruce Owens of Camden, Ala.; and great niece Peggy Peak of Selma, Ala.

Mr. Royal Lee Worlds, 37, of 1120 Bay Ave., died Wednesday, March 16, 2000, in a local hospital. He was a lifelong resident of Panama City. Funeral services for Mr. Worlds will be held Sunday, March 19, at 11 a.m. in Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church with the Rev. Myra Andrews, Pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in Nubbin Ridge Cemetery in Greenwood, Fla. The family will receive relatives and friends at 1120 Bay Ave.

ROSE ANN ANDERSON ALLEN
Rose Ann Anderson Allen of Panama City went to be with The Lord on March 16 in Pensacola after a prolonged illness. She was the widow of Corson Seymor Allen of Newport News, Va. and is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Lee and Karen Allen of Atlanta, Ga.; daughter and son-in-law, Anne and Pete Getty of Pensacola; son, John Allen of Atlanta; sisters, Mary Bransford of Newport News and Catherine Kochiss of Stratford, Conn.; and brother, Edward Anderson of Newport News. Rose Ann was a loving grandmother of Zachary Allen of Tallahassee, Taylor and Caitlin Allen of Atlanta, John and Katherine Getty of Pensacola, and John and Cory Allen of Lawton, Okla. Upon graduation from St. Vincent High School in 1942, she attained her nursing degree from the Nazareth School of Nursing in Lexington, Ky., in 1946. She married the late Seymour Allen on Nov. 9, 1946, and went on to establish a loving home in Atlanta. In 1967, she and her family moved to Panama City where she was instrumental in the growth and development of Contract Blind Sales Inc. She returned to nursing in 1971, and had a successful nursing career while serving at Bay Memorial Hospital and Gulf Coast Hospital where she was named Nurse of the Year in 1983. Rose Ann was active in her church and community, as a faithful member of the St. Dominic's choir, and having served her community as past president of Altrusta International and of Lady Lions. Rose Ann will always be remembered for her strength in times of adversity, and for her ability to overcome sickness and setbacks time and time again. In 1987, Rose Ann had the distinction of being the 1,000th kidney transplant patient at Shands Medical Center in Gainesville, and proved to us all once again her ability to accept new challenges late in life. The family wishes to thank all the wonderful friends who loved and supported Rose Ann during the past 10 years, and to thank her physicians who gave her such excellent care, you were truly a blessing. A memorial service will be held today, March 20 at 10 a.m. at St. Dominic's Church, 3308 E. 15th St. in Panama City. The family will receive friends following the ceremony in the parish hall. Burial service will be held in Newport News pending final arrangements. Rose Ann requested no flowers and that contributions be made in memoriam to TRC of Panama City, 510 N.
