Flora Pauline Moore, 90, of Marianna died Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2004, in Marianna.

The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. today, Friday, Jan. 9, at Maddox Chapel. Burial will be in Carpenter Cemetery with James and Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.

Frances Christene Parker Nunnery, 78, of Marianna died Thursday, Jan. 8, 2004, at Jackson Hospital following a sudden illness.

She was a lifelong resident of Jackson County and was of the Pentecostal faith. She was retired from Sunland Training Center.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sandra Gail Nunnery.

She is survived by: Her daughter, Sherry Richardson and her husband Mike of Chipley; two grandchildren, DeWayne Richardson and his wife Shelby of Caryville, and Tracey Price and her husband Dan of Chipley; five great-grandchildren, Tyler and Harlee Richardson of Caryville, and Hunter, Jeffrey and Will Price of Chipley; one niece, Dawn Leleszi of Tallahassee; one nephew, Roy Parker of Marianna; and four great-nieces, Sheila Blanco of Nashville, Tenn., Tara Parker of Decatur, Ga., Kim Luckich of Indian Springs, Ala., and Angie Gillespie of Maylene, Ala.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 11, at Lord Funeral Home with the Rev. Dallas Pettis officiating. Burial will be in the family plot at Riverside Cemetery in Marianna.

The following will serve as pallbearers: Roy Parker, Mark Richardson, Dan Price, DeWayne Richardson, Mike Trombetta, and Andy Williams.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, Jan. 10, from 5 until 7 p.m. at Lord Funeral Home, 3449 Caverns Road in Marianna.

Eugene Owens, 72, a resident of Dothan, Ala. died Tuesday evening, Jan. 20, 2004, at Southeast Alabama Medical Center.

He was born May 16, 1931 in Jackson County and lived in Pensacola for many years before moving to Houston County in 1969. He worked for over 50 years with Local Union 653 out of Mobile. He was an active member and past president of Dothan Boots and Saddle Club. He was also a member of the Northwest Florida Quarter Horse Association and Houston County Sheriff's Posse'.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Smith Owens.

He is survived by: His wife, Evelyn Owens of Dothan, Ala.; four daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Frances (Rex) Peacock of Dothan, Ala., Brenda (Theo) Hobbs of Sneads, Peggy (Talmadge) Gilley of Dothan, Ala., and Gloria (Steve) King of Dothan, Ala.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Eddie Eugene (Tammy) Owens of Newport News, Va. and Rodger (Debbie) Owens of Dothan, Ala.; 18 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Betty Jean (Bobby) Bryant of Tallahassee, and Mattie Lee Thornton of Marianna; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Jason Rogers and Wesley Colson, Christine Sawyer, and Judy and David Jones.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. CST today, Friday, Jan. 23, at Pope Cemetery in Sneads with the Rev. Juno Douglas officiating and Southern Heritage Funeral Home directing.

Serving as pallbearers will be his grandsons, Theo Hobbs Jr., Scott Hobbs, Randy Hobbs, John Owens, Adam King, Tracy Glass and David Peacock.

At all other times, the family will be at the home of daughter Francis Peacock, 2281 Iris Road. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Lou Gehrigs - ALS Association, 27001 Agoura Road, Suite 150, Calabasas Hills, Ca., 91301 in honor of Steve King.

Nancy Bell Pierce, 96, of Marianna died Thursday, Jan. 22, 2004, at Jackson Hospital.

She was born in Altha and was a life-long resident of this area. She was a homemaker and of the Holiness faith.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Selma Pierce.

She is survived by: A son, Selma Gene Pierce of Marianna; four brothers, Bill Baggett, Bobby Baggett, L.N. Baggett, all of Altha, and Pete Baggett of Dellwood; five sisters, Nenva Grooms, Sue Baggett, Dot Bethal, Sis Sewell and Rene Stanley, all of Altha; four grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. CST Saturday, Jan. 24, at Maddox Chapel with the Rev. Carlton Baggett officiating. Burial will be at New Shiloh Cemetery near Altha with James and Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. CST today, Friday, Jan. 23, at Maddox Chapel.

Msgt. Johnnie Lee Baxter, U.S. Air Force retired, 72, died peacefully at his residence in Fort Walton Beach on Saturday, Jan. 24, 2004, after a long illness.

He served in the Air Force for over 23 years during the Korean Conflict, spent a year in Vietnam and also had tours in Europe, Asia and Iceland.

He was a loving and much loved husband and father. He loved people and had a sense of humor and had an infectious laugh that brightened the lives of those around them. He also enjoyed dancing, boating, auto racing, and country music. He was a talented mechanical engineer and could fix just about anything, from cars to appliances to boats.

He was a member of the First Christian Church in Fort Walton Beach. He was also a member of Elks Lodge No. 1795, American Legion Post No. 235, and VFW Post No. 7674.

He was preceded in death by: His parents, Louie and Beulah Baxter; and his son, John Gareth Baxter.

He is survived by: His wife of 53 years, Nell; daughter, Cheryl McFaden and her husband Don of Lynchburg, Va.; daughter-in-law, Joanne Baxter of Pensacola; four grandchildren, Jennie and Colette McFaden, and Mary and Vanessa Baxter; and his brother, Norman Baxter and his wife Jean of Malone.

The funeral will be held Wednesday, Jan. 28, at 11 a.m. at Emerald Coast Funeral Home in Fort Walton Beach with the Rev. R. Roger Peadro officiating. Burial will be in Beal Memorial Cemetery with full military honors.

The family will receive friends today, Tuesday, Jan. 27, from 5 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Joseph P. Davis, 90, of Alford went to be with the Lord Monday, Jan. 26, 2004.

He was a native of Laurel Hill and had lived in Jackson County since 1939 where he was a farmer. He was known by all his friends and neighbors as "whistlin' Joe." He taught school at Alford Elementary and Cherokee Elementary from 1946-1948. He was an ordained deacon for 68 years and was a member of the Alford Baptist Church for almost 60 years, where he taught the adult men's Sunday School class for many years.

He was preceded in death by his son, James Brian Davis in 1974.

He is survived by: his wife of 66 years, Lucile H. Davis of Alford; three sons, Vick Davis and his wife, Mary, of Panama City, Bill Davis and his wife, Anna, of Chattahoochee, and Don Davis and his wife, Kay, of Subic Bay, Philippines; three daughters, Phoebe Davis of Jacksonville, Ellen Williams and her husband, Steve, of Tallahassee, Frances Melvin and her husband, Kenneth, of Marianna; one sister, Rebecca Strickland of Laurel Hill; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be held Friday, Jan. 30, at 2 p.m. CST at Alford Baptist Church in Alford with the Rev. Tommy Seedorf officiating. Burial will be in Alford Cemetery with James and Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel of Marianna directing.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 29, at Maddox Chapel.

Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to The Gideons International, P.O. Box 293, Marianna, FL 32447.

James Allen Collins, 63, of Fort Lauderdale, formerly of Malone, died Saturday, Jan. 24, 2004.

He is survived by: His daughter, Shinethia Collins Ivey of Tallahassee; two sons, Bruce McGriff of St. Petersburg, and SFC Bernard McGriff of Orlando; four sisters, Karetha Fowler of Woodbridge, Va., Daisy Dawsey of Palmetto, Armeatha Collins Williams of St. Petersburg, and Clytie McIntyre of Jacksonville; and two aunts, Daisy Collins of Malone and Pearl Collins of Jacksonville.

The funeral will be held Saturday, Jan. 31, at 1 p.m. at the Snowhill African Methodist Episcopal Church with Minister Will Daniels and the Rev. Samuel Everett officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Vann Funeral Home Friday, Jan. 30, from 6 until 7 p.m.

The body will lie at the church one hour prior to the service.

Vann Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Luecinda Smith Johnson, 79, of Miami, formerly of Marianna, died Saturday, Jan. 24, 2004, in Miami.

She lived most of her life in Miami and was a member of Jerusalem Primitive Baptist Church.

She is survived by: Two sisters, Ruth Elease Pete and Ermia S. Barkley and husband Cleave, both of Marianna; five brothers, Wardine Smith and wife Allie Mae, James N. Smith and wife Inez, both of Marianna, Robert Allen Smith and wife Juanita of Titusville, James Fletcher Smith and wife Lorene of Jacksonville, and John H. Smith and wife Vinnie of Miami; a niece, Janice Pittman who she loved as a daughter; and numerous other nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

The funeral will be held Saturday, Jan. 31, at 1 p.m. at the Greater Buckhorn Missionary Baptist Church with the Revs. Waymond Pollock, Carlton Taylor, and William Harvey officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The body will lie at the church one hour prior to the funeral.

Vann Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Sue Ellen White, 48, of Lawrenceville, Ga. died Monday, Jan. 26, 2004.

A graduate of Marianna High School, she earned her undergraduate degree from Brigham Young University and her masters degree from Troy State University. She was a teacher and administrator, serving as associate director of the United Cerebral Palsy Center in Panama City and in Tallahassee. She also substitute taught at Craig Elementary in Lawrenceville for many years. She was a loving daughter, wife and mother and enjoyed singing, gardening, reading and teaching children music.

She is survived by: her husband, Ken White; children, Kendel White, Mitchell White, Brennen White, Avery White, all of Lawrenceville; parents, James and Carolyn Sims of Marianna; brothers, James Howell (Petey) and Liz Sims, Henry Mark and Lori Sims; father and mother-in-law, Cecil and Carol Jean Crawford; brother-in-law, Stan White, all of Marianna; and seven nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held Friday, Jan. 30 at 11 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Lawrenceville with Christopher A. Rusch officiating. A graveside service will be held Saturday, Jan. 31, at 11 a.m. at Sink Creek Cemetery in Marianna.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 9 p.m. today, Thursday, Jan. 29, at the Tim Stewart Funeral Home in Lawrenceville. The family will also receive friends from 9 until 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 31, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Marianna.

Miwes Elizabeth Hamilton, 78, of Grand Ridge died Thursday, Jan. 29, 2004, in Marianna.

She was born in Bartow but had lived in Jackson County for more than 54 years. She was a member of Welcome Assembly of God Church in Dellwood. She retired from Florida State Hospital after 31 years of service.

She is survived by her husband, Clifton Hamilton of Grand Ridge.

The funeral will be held Saturday, Jan. 31, at 2 p.m. CST at Welcome Assembly of God Church in Dellwood with the Rev. Charles Jackson officiating. Burial will be in Cow Pen Pond Cemetery with James and Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. CST today, Friday, Jan. 30, at Maddox Chapel.

Harold L. Kent, 76, of Alford died Thursday, Jan. 29, 2004, at his residence.

Arrangements will be announced by James and Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel.
