Mr. James Joseph Kirby, 67, of 1208 Cornell Dr., Panama City, Fla., died Wednesday night, March 29, 2000, at his residence. He moved here 32 years ago from Birmingham, Ala., worked in finance and car sales and was Methodist by faith. Mr. Kirby is survived by his wife, Joan Kirby of Panama City; one son, Jim Kirby and wife Teresa of Paris, Texas ; one daughter, Karla Kirby and husband Greg of Panama City Beach; four grandchildren: Christopher Nordan, J.J. Nordan, Mary Joan Kirby and Jacob Kirby. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 1 in Chapel of Love Mausoleum in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Entombment will follow. The family will receive friends at the funeral home this evening from 6 to 8 p.m.

James "Jim" Joseph Leeuw, 43, of Alford, died Wednesday, March 29, 2000, in Alford. He was a native of Michigan and he had lived in the Panama City area until moving to Jackson County in 1997. He was a Numismatist and was of Protestant faith. He is survived by his wife, Verralyn Daniels Leeuw of Alford; one daughter, Eve A. Leeuw of Panama City Beach. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 1 at Heritage Cathedral Church at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Dean McCoury officiating. Memorialization will be by cremation. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Andrews Bay Center, 1804 Carolina Ave., Lynn Haven, Fla.

Donna Jean Shores, 62, of Soddy-Daisy, Tenn., died March 28, 2000, in a local hospital. She was owner/operator of Flowers by Van and Donna; former owner of Killian Daisy Florist. Funeral services will be held today, March 31 at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Williamson and Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. David Winton officiating. There will be a private burial. Survivors include her husband, Dan Shores; two daughters, Sherry Sosebee of Birmingham, Ala., and Renee Foran of Panama City, Fla.; one son, Donnie Foran of Auburn, Ala.; two sisters, Wordean Killebrew of Chattanooga and Frances Calhoun of Lynn Haven, Fla.; one brother, Jackie Shores of Panama City; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Helen Alter Pijot, age 95 of Panama City, Fla., who passed away Wednesday, Mar. 29, 2000, at Bay Medical Center. Mrs. Pijot has lived in the Panama City area for over 30 years after moving here from England, Ark. She retired from Pijot's Electric Company in England, Ark., and she enjoyed fishing and writing poetry. Mrs. Pijot is survived by a daughter-in-law, Betty R. Pijot of Ormond Beach, Fla.; and three grandchildren: Jo Lynn Durrance and David R. Pijot, of Ormond Beach, and Barbara Pijot Schmidt of Dallas, Texas ; and five great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. today, March 31 at Evergreen Memorial Gardens Cemetery with the Rev. Charles Key officiating, with interment following.

"Capt." Royal Stephens, a resident of Deatsville, Ala., and Panama City, Fla., died Friday, March 24, 2000. Graveside services were held Sunday, March 26, 2000, at 2 p.m. in New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Denny Rogers officiating. "Capt." Royal is survived by his wife, Nan Comer Stephens of Deatsville, Ala.; one daughter, Leah Allen of Panama City; two sons, Royal Stephens Jr. of Lynn Haven and Neil J. Stephens of Clinton, Miss.; 11 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Active pallbearers were members of Lightwood Volunteer Fire Department. "Capt." Royal owned and operated a charter boat service at Capt. Anderson's in Panama City for 25 years.

Gladys Jones White, age 81, of 1207 Lisenby Ave., Panama City, Fla., died Thursday morning, March 30, 2000, at her home after an extended illness. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 1, 2000, in the Shorterville Baptist Church in Shorterville, Ala., with the Rev. Gene White and the Rev. Robert Layne officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Holman-Abbeville Mortuary of Abbeville, Ala., directing. The body will be placed in the church one hour prior to the services. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the mortuary in Abbeville. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Shorterville Baptist Church c/o Rossie Money, Rt. 1, Box 171, Abbeville, Ala. 36310. Mrs. White was a native of the Camp Springs community of Henry County, Ala., the daughter of the late John Thomas Jones and Nora Thorn Jones. She formerly lived in Columbus, Ga., and Ft. Gaines, Ga., before moving to Panama City in 1992. Mrs. White retired in 1980 from Tom's Foods of Columbus after twenty-six years employment. She was a member of Shorterville Baptist Church but was a former member of Temple Baptist Church in Columbus. Mrs. White was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star No. 261 in Columbus. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Howard White; a sister, Martha Kickliter; and two brothers, Z.B. Jones and Albert Jones. Surviving are two daughters, Anne Jones and her husband, Thomas M. Jones of Conyers, Ga., Veda Smith and her husband, Edward L. Smith Jr. of Panama City Beach; two sons, Howard J. White and wife Brenda of Pensacola, Ricky L. White and wife Debbie of Alexander City, Ala.; six grandchildren: Kathy Lynn Fullerton, Cindy Renee Buckinger, Janet Whitson, Tommy H. Jones, Kristi L. Chiodo and Richard White; nine great-grandchildren also survive.

Mr. James Brown Jr., 66, of 810 E. 10th St., died Monday, March 27, 2000, in the Bay Crest Nursing Center. He was a native of Birmingham, Ala., and a resident of Panama City for many years. He was employed at Buffalo Rock (Pepsi Cola) Plant from 1969 until his retirement in 1997. He was a faithful member of Mt. Zion Primitive Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Betty Brown; adopted parents Henry and Louise Jackson; and a devoted companion, Ella Mae Baker. Mrs. Bush was preceded in death by her husband, Elder James T. Bush; and her brothers: Leslie Dee McCullough, Eleb McCullough and Franklin McCullough. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. today, April 1, at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Horace Nall and Elder J.C. Stanaland officiating. Interment will follow at the Forest Lawn Memorial Cemetery. Asked to serve as active pallberarers are: Larry Paricio, Silas Lee, Bill Lee, John Leslie Bush, Doyle Bush and Ricky McCullough.
