WANDA DARLENE DIEHL
Wanda Darlene Diehl, 55, of 8003 Beach Drive, Panama City Beach, Fla., passed away May 27, 2000, at the home of family after a courageous battle with liver cancer. Darlene Diehl, the daughter of Frances Trawick of Panama City, was a graduate of Bay High School and had been employed by Pompano's Restaurant for the past nine years. Ms. Diehl is survived by three children, Toby Diehl of Panama City, Becky Diehl of Huntington Beach, Calif., and Tim Diehl of Panama City; a brother, Charles Walruff and wife, Anna; a sister, Becky Boling; two nephews, Chris Boling and Matthew Boling; and a niece, Brittany Boling, all of Panama City. Memorial services will be held Tutoday at 11 a.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Phil Edwards officiating. Donations may be made to Hospice of the Emerald Coast in memory of Ms. Diehl, in lieu of flowers. The family will receive friends at the home of Charles and Anna Walruff, 4042 Hwy. 389, Panama City.

Mrs. Eleanor "Robbie" Dwyer, R.N., 87, of Summer's Landing, Lynn Haven, died Sunday, May 28, 2000, in Panama City. Graveside funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Evergreen Memorial Gardens.

DR. HERBERT LARRIMORE
Dr. Herbert Larrimore, 74, of 236 W. Baldwin Road, Panama City, died Sunday, May 28, 2000, at his residence. Dr. Larrimore had been a resident of the area since 1962, moving here from Mobile, Ala. He had a Ph.D. in physics and worked as a physicist and chief scientist at the Naval Coastal Systems Station in Panama City Beach for 30 years and had operated Larrimore Enterprises for 21 years. He had served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was an accomplished inventor who had many patents in his name. He loved machinery and enjoyed working on automobiles. He was multi-lingual, loved to travel, loved all sports, and enjoyed barefoot water-skiing. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Lynn Haven. Dr. Larrimore is survived by his wife of 51 years, Helen Wilson Larrimore of Panama City; sons, John W. Larrimore of Southport and Kevin P. Larrimore and Michael Larrimore, both of Panama City; daughters, Deborah L. West of Sopchoppy, and Mary A. Larrimore of Panama City; sisters, Irma Carson and Cecile Day, both of Grove Hill, Ala.; a brother, Dr. Roy Larrimore of Thomasville, Ala.; and 6 grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday, June 1, 2000, in the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bruce Raley officiatng. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 31, 2000.

CHARLES E. 'CHUCK' LESTER
Mr. Charles E. "Chuck" Lester, 69, loving husband, father, grandfather and Christian, died Sunday, May 28, 2000, at his residence. He had been a resident of the area since 1973, moving here from Mississippi. He was a retired instructor for Textron Marine Industries in Panama City and formerly worked in the space program for NASA. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Lester was a member of First Baptist Church of Panama City and was a former member of the Men's Sunday School Class at St. Andrews Baptist Church. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking and reading his Bible. Mr. Lester is survived by his wife of 49 years, Virginia Lester of Panama City; daughters, Deborah L. Ferguson of Kingston, Tenn., and Lynn Clayton of Panama City; a son, Charles "Robby" Lester of Panama City; grandchildren, Lynn and Ashlee Lenoir, both of Kingston, Tenn., and Bryant, Micaylee, Everett and Ethan Clayton, all of Panama City. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Lester. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 31, 2000, at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bruce Raley and Manny Garcia officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Asked to serve as active pallbearers are Willard Skipper, Gordan Aglin, Gamuel Holley, Charles Tate, Johnny Fowler and Milton Jordan. Honorary pallbearers will include Bobby Higdon, Larry Taylor, Howard Turner, David Hecht, J.V. Suggs and members of the L.L.L. Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church of Panama City. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 p.m. today, May 30, 2000.

J. ALLEN POTTER
J. Allen Potter, P.E., 64, of Chipley passed away May 28, 2000, at his home. Born in Marion County, he lived most of his life in Chipley. He was an active member of the Chipley first United Methodist Church. His career as a professional engineer spanned more than 45 years and included 35 years with the Florida Department of Transportation where he served as district engineer/deputy assistant secretary for the Third District and assistant secretary of transportation/state operations administrator. Following retirement from the department, he joined the consulting firm of PBS&J Engineers and managed the firm's Birmingham, Ala., operations. He also served 25 years in the Alabama Air National Guard as civil engineering officer earning the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He was a member of the Chipley City Council. Funeral services will be held May 30, 2000, at 10 a.m. at the Chipley First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Lee Allen officiating. Burial will follow in the Glenwood Cemetery with Brown Funeral Home directing. Mr. Potter was preceded in death by his son, Wesley Allen Potter. Survivors include his wife, Jane Saunders Potter of Chipley; daughters, Margaret Potter Duggar of Tallahassee, and Grace Potter Freni of Marianna; one granddaughter, Marygrace Summers Duggar; sons-in-law, Chuck Duggar and David Freni; and a sister, Patricia Potter Kickliter of Tallahassee. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hospice of Northwest Florida, the American Cancer Society or the First United Methodist Church, Chipley.

ODES E. TUCKER
Mr. Odes E. "O.E." Tucker, 76, of 2811 E. 13th St., died Sunday, May 28, 2000, at his residence. He was a native of Birmingham, Ala., and had lived in the Panama City area since 1949. Mr. Tucker was a retired insurance agent, working for both the Peninsular Life, and Liberty National Life Insurance Companies for 32 years. He was a member of the Lynn Haven Methodist Church and was a member of the Harry Jackson Masonic Lodge. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. "O.E." loved the outdoors, was an avid turkey and deer hunter and fisherman, and enjoyed spending time at his camp at Howard's Creek. He also grew a garden every year, and loved sharing vegetables with his friends. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Annie L. Tucker of Panama City; a daughter, Linda D. Donaldson and her husband Andy of Panama City; a son, Harry Tucker and his wife Nedra of Panama City; grandchildren, Jimmy Lark and his wife Debbie, and Carol Ann Fleming and her husband, Berry, all of Panama City; two great-grandchildren, Annie Grace and Tara Fleming, both of Panama City; two stepgrandchildren, Andy Donaldson of Pensacola and Jacob Money of Tallahassee; a sister, Eunice Smith of Greensboro, N.C.; a brother, James E. Tucker of Birmingham, Ala., and numerous nieces & nephews. He was also survived by a special friend whom he referred to as his adopted son, Ricky Green, and his family of Panama City. Funeral Services will be held at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, in the Kent-Forest Lawn Chapel with Dr. Doug Pennington and the Rev. Steve Beck officiating. Interment with Masonic Rights will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Asked to serve as active pallbearers are: Jack Hall, Dewayne Newton, John Samuel Newton, Joe Hughes, Harold Garrett, William Parker, E.R. Garrett and Dovall Mitchell. Honorary pallbearers will include: Ricky Green, Don Newton, James Cato, Dr. Charles Nichols, Dr. James Kyker, Dr. Stephen Miller, Dr. Syed Mahmood, Hugh Bass, Skipper Lark, Sonny Breeland, Adrian Barnett, and Roz Allen. RUTH FOSTER WESTER
Ruth Foster Wester, 79, of Panama City, died Monday, May 29, 2000, in a local nursing home. She was a homemaker and enjoyed fishing. She had been a resident of Panama City since 1937 moving here from Vernon. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Wester. She is survived by a daughter, Shannon Grice of Panama City; two sons, Roy Dave Wester of Panama City and Ronald Earl Wester and his wife, Judy of Greenville, S.C.; five grandchildren, Douglas Grice and his wife, Lisa of Altha, Gia Barnes and her husband, David, Alison Williams and her husband, Joseph, both of Panama City, Angela Wester, Candus Wester, both of Greenville, S.C.; a sister, Levetta Wilson of Panama City; eight great-grandchildren, Shannon Lee Grice, Roy Douglas Grice, Lynsey O'Bryan, Brooks Tucker, Justen Williams, Joseph Williams, Adrianne Barnes and Amy Barnes. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 3 p.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. John Broome and the Rev. Hilton Foster officiating. Interment will follow in the Lynn Haven Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 p.m. today.

SADIE MAE DAVIS BRANTLEY
Sadie Mae Davis Brantley, 82, of Panama City, Fla., died Wednesday, May 24, 2000, in Panama City. A native of Brooks County, Ga., she had lived in Panama City since 1960 and was a member of Potter's Temple First Born Church of the Living God. Funeral services will be held today, May 31, at 2 p.m. CDT, in Neal's Temple First Born Church of the Living God in Panama City with interment at Hillside Cemetery. Survivors include her son, Norman Redmon of Miami, Fla., three daughters, Sally Edwards, Theresa Lee and Sheryl Brantley of Panama City; one brother, Joseph Davis of Jenkinsburg, Ga; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.

FRANCES JANET DEAN
Mrs. Frances Janet Dean, age 71, of 5816 Hwy. 2297, Panama City, Fla., died Monday, May 29, 2000, at a local nursing facility. She has been a resident of the area for most of her life and was a member of East Bay Baptist Church. Mrs. Dean was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star Parker Chapter No. 96 and the Order of Amaranth, including Zollie Young Court No. 72 Callaway. She was a member of Bay County Executive Committee and a long time democratic supporter and political activist. One of her favorite sayings was "I'm a Democrat born, a Democrat bred, and when I die, I'll be a Democrat dead". Mrs. Dean was a graduate of Montivallo University in Birmingham, Ala. She was preceded in death by her dear husband, Bob in 1985. They had 34 wonderful years together. They leave behind their beloved children, Robert M. Dean Jr. and his wife Lisa, Terrill Dean and his wife Pam and Jacqueline H. Dean; three beautiful granddaughters, Margo Dean, Raynah Dean and Cary Fran Dean; as well as Nicole Dylan and Chris; a dear sister, Lucille Ryals; brother-in-law, Paul Ryals; sister-in-law, Hattie Davis; nephew, Johnny; nieces, Sweet Lisa Davis, Sally Peterson and family and Anne Marie Carroll and family; many more cousins and relatives; and many dear friends. She was preceded in death by a brother, Bud Davis. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, June 1, at East Bay Baptist Church with the Revs. Jim Kirkland and J.E. Hodges officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Asked to serve as active pallbearers are Curt McCarthy, Hank Cooper, Steve Hinman, Harold Bazzell, Joey Segovia, Jack MacCrary, Larry Peterson and Richard Carroll. Honorary pallbearers will include Lester Proctor, Danny Sparks, Charles Whitehead and Joe Chapman. MELBA NELL DICK
Mrs. Melba Nell Dick, age 94, of Ft. Myers, Fla., passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 27, 2000. Melba was born in Heflin, Ala., and lived in Miami, Fla., from 1927 until 1993. She retired after 22 years of service with the Dade County Probate Court as the Chief Clerk of the Court. Melba was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred J. Dick. She is survived by her sister, Clara Dobbs of Chester, Conn.; five children, Patricia DuMond and her husband Joseph of Old Lyme, Conn., Melba J. Dick of Fort Myers, Mary Lou Smogar and her husband Frank of Miami, Alfred Dick Jr. and his wife Jackie of Fort Myers, and Chuck Dick and his wife Diane of Panama City; 13 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Melba lived for her family and will be dearly missed. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, June 1,at Forest Park United Methodist Church with Dr. Kenneth Taylor and the Rev. James DuMond officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Asked to serve as active pallbearers are Matthew Smogar, Frank Smogar, Kenny Dixon, Doug DuMond, Charles DuMond and Sam Dickinson. The family will receive friends at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home today, May 31, 2000, from 6 to 8 p.m.
