MAVIS EMANUEL
Mrs. Mavis Emanuel, 64, of Vernon, Fla., went to be with the Lord, Monday, June 19, 2000, at her home. She was a native of Alabama, but had lived in Panama City for 42 years prior to moving to Vernon. Mrs. Emanuel worked in the nursing field at the old Lisenby Hospital. Her work included private duty nursing for many years. She enjoyed gardening and was an accomplished seamstress. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church. Mrs. Emanuel is survived by her three children: Linda Jones and her husband Jerry of Panama City, Fla., Michael A. Emanuel and his wife Deborah of Southport, Fla., and Katrina Sheffield and her husband Larry of Vernon, Fla.; a brother, Billy Gibson of Abbeville, Ala.; two sisters, Elizabeth Snoke of Lancaster, Ohio, and Laura Devane of Dothan, Ala.; five grandchildren, Ricky Jones, Leslie Stone, Michael Emanuel, Dallas Emanuel and Ashley Emanuel; and great-granddaughter, Kimberly Stone. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 22, at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Bill Wheeler officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday, June 21, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. The family will meet at the home of Michael and Deborah Emanuel, 2328 Mary Ann Drive, Southport, Fla., 265-6327.

DAVID CUSHING KERR
Mr. David Cushing Kerr, age 83 of Panama City, Fla., passed away Saturday, June 17, 2000, at the Glen Cove Nursing Pavilion. He was born March 16, 1917 in Nashua, N.H. and had been a resident of Bay County since 1973, coming here from Ohio. Mr. Kerr loved lighthouses and H.O. trains. He was very proud of his Scottish heritage and was a staunch American patriot. He graduated from the University of New Hampshire in 1939 with a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering. He earned a masters degree from Ohio State University in engineering. Mr. Kerr was a member of various organizations and associations, such as the Cloak and Dagger Fine Arts Society of the University of New Hampshire, a former member of the Masons and Shriners in Lorain, Ohio, and the B.P.O.E. of Panama City, Fla. He retired from United States Steel in Lorain, Ohio, after a distinguished career. Following his retirement, he continued his work with the company as an engineering consultant in Cairo, Egypt, for a number of years. Mr. Kerr served his country during World War II as a captain in the U.S. Army and was of the Presbyterian faith. Mr. Kerr is survived by his loyal companion, Mattie Eunice Givens of Panama City, Fla.; a sister-in-law, Rosella Kerr; nephews, David Kerr of Ontario, California and Dr. Andrew Kerr and wife Betsy of Ventura, Calif.; niece, Beth Kerr of Ontario, Calif.; sisters-in-law, Lois Nichols and her husband Jack of Panama City, Fla., and Nancy Cowan and her husband Owen of Urbana, Ohio; and many other nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by parents, Clough and Laura Geraldine Cushing Kerr; his wife, Lenore; and a brother, Elsworth. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. today, June 20, at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. R.C. Warren officiating. Interment will follow at the Evergreen Memorial Gardens Cemetery with military honors. Asked to serve as active pallbearers are David Kerr, Dean Ridings, Jack Nichols and James Warren.

GLADYS ZION PORTER
Ms. Gladys Zion Porter, 96, of Lynn Haven passed away Saturday, June 17, 2000, at a local hospital. Born in Lebanon, Ind., she moved to Lynn Haven in 1915. Ms. Porter was a librarian at the Lynn Haven McMullen Memorial Library, a member of the United Methodist Women's Society, a life member of the Order of the Eastern Star chapter 262, was past matron of Lynn Haven Order of the Eastern Star, past president of the Past Matron and Past Patrons Club, and served as musician for Order of the Eastern Star for many years. She is predeceased by Joel L. and Lena B. Zion, and by William Leslie Porter. Ms. Porter is survived by one niece, Eileen Zion Wright and husband Tracy O. of Roanoke, Va.; and many grand nieces and nephews. Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. today, June 20, in the Lynn Haven Cemetery with Pastor Doug Pennington officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Lynn Haven United Methodist memorial fund or Lynn Haven Masonic building fund (O.E.S.).

Mr. Waddell Heard, 83, of 2906 Cocoa Ave., died Thursday, June 15, 2000, in a local hospital. He was a native of Alabama and a resident of Panama City for many years. He was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Heard Sr.; sister, Bessie McBride, and a nephew, Agla Jordan Heard. He is survived by a sister, Gannie V. Jenkins of Pritchard, Ala.; sister-in-law, Gertrude Turner of Panama City; brother-in-law, Fred Turner of Jacksonville; nieces, Catherine Green of New York City, Vern H. Webb of Panama City, Betty Parker of Los Angeles, Calif., Rose Parker of Las Vegas, Nev., Sarah Seyers (Fred) of Pacoma Calif., Dorothy Gainer of Fort Walton Beach, Shirley Seshie (Godwin) of Richmond, Va., and Gloria Ogden (John) of Fort Walton Beach; nephews: Harold Heard Jr. (Mamie) and Minister Bobby Heard, both of Panama City, Robert Heard (Julia) of Los Angeles, Calif., and David Heard of New York City; great nieces: Janna Robinson of New Jersey, Venita Gail Gilyard of Augusta, Ga., Pamela Green and Kim Heard, both of New York City, Carole Pennington (Joe), Sharon W. KERMIT ISAAC JOHNSON
Kermit Isaac Johnson, U.S. Air Force Col., retired, 91, of 404 E. Second St., Lynn Haven, Fla., died Monday, June 19, 2000, at a local hospital. He had been a resident of the area since 1952, a member of Lynn Haven First United Methodist Church and Panama City Country Club. Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife, Violet Lani Johnson of Lynn Haven; sons: Hugh Paul Johnson and his wife Paula of Lorton, Va., Roger Kirk Johnson and his wife Sally of Lynn Haven, Jay Kermit Johnson and his wife Anne of Oxford, Miss., and David Carl Johnson and his wife Pamela of Collierville, Tenn.; a sister, Geneva Tomlinson of Greenville, Tenn.; 11 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, June 23, at Lynn Haven First United Methodist Church with Dr. Doug Pennington and Dr. Doug Williams officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens.

MARK KENNY HUEBNER
Mark Huebner, 47, formerly of Memphis, Tenn., passed away June 20, 2000. He was a resident of Panama City for the last eight years and was an employee of AT&T. Mark was preceded in death by his father, Albert C. Huebner. His is survived by his daughter (MY BABY) Sarah Huebner of Panama City; his mother, Madalyn Huebner of Memphis, Tenn.; a sister, Sissy Hubbard of Hot Springs, Ark.; two brothers, Clay H. Huebner of Germantown, Tenn., Albert W. Huebner of Jacksonville, Ark. and special friends, Dave and Karen Mullinax and family of Panama City. He is also survived by many friends and relatives in the Memphis and Panama City area. Funeral services will be in Memphis, Tenn. with time and date unknown at this time. There will be a gathering of friends Saturday, June 24, at 11 a.m., at the home of Dave and Karen Mullinax, 5324 Bertha Nelson Road.

Mrs. Dovie Y. Kittrell, 92, of Cottondale, died Tuesday, June 20, 2000, in Jackson Hospital. She was a lifelong resident of this area. Mrs. Kittrell was of the Church of God faith and a former member of Pilgrim Rest Church. She loved and cherished her family and enjoyed her fishing. Mrs. Kittrell was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Craven Kittrell in 1977. Survivors include her four children, Betty Barnes and husband J.D. of Cottondale, Ann Clevenger and husband Floyd of Eagle Lake, Fla., the Rev. J.J. Kittrell and wife Audrey of Marianna, and James P. Kittrell of Cottondale; two sisters, Mammie Cayson of Winter Haven, Opal Jenkins of Leesburg; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; numerous nephews and nieces. Services for Mrs. Kittrell will be held Friday, June 23, at 2 p.m. in Pilgrim Rest Church with the Rev. Lloyd White officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight, June 22, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Marianna Chapel Funeral Home.

JAMES WESLEY MORGAN
Mr. James Wesley (Buster) Morgan, age 45, of Kinard, died Tuesday at his home. Mr. Morgan was a lifelong resident of Kinard and was a heavy equipment operator. He served two terms as a member of Calhoun County School Board. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Barbara Morgan of Kinard; father and mother, John Wesley and Laura Mae Morgan of Kinard; four daughters: Karen Morgan of Kinard, Jaimie Morgan of Bristol, Heather Morgan of Altha, Beth McCoy of Tallahassee; two sisters, Mrs. Margaret Linton of Kinard, Mrs. Delilah Pitts of Kinard; and one grandchild, Jordan Morgan. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. CDT at Graveside of Cypress Creek Cemetery in Kinard with the Rev. Carlton Cain officiating. Interment will follow. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today, June 22, from 6 to 8 p.m. CDT.

PAT THOMAS
Sen. Pat Thomas died early Wednesday morning, June 21, 2000, at his home in Quincy, Fla. The family of Sen. Thomas will receive friends today, June 22, from 5 to 7 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 310 North Madison St., Quincy. Additionally, Sen. Thomas will lie in state in the rotunda of Florida's Old Capitol, Friday, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. The family will also be available to receive friends at the Old Capitol. Funeral services for Sen. Pat Thomas are scheduled for Friday, June 23, at 4 p.m., at First Presbyterian Church in Quincy. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Quincy. Gifts in memory of Sen.
