Dorothy Inez Galloway of Hartford, Ala., went home to be with her Lord & Savior Sunday, July 17, 2005. She was 82.

She was born Nov. 19, 1922, in Holmes County, to the late James Omer & Lizzie Pearl (Watford) Wells. She was a member of the Geneva Senior Center and loved it dearly. She was also a member of Antioch Baptist Church for more than 25 years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend to all who knew her.

In addition to her parents, her husband, Louie Galloway; grandchildren, Debra Inez Miller and Mark Anthony Miller; as well as her brothers, Alfred Wells and Malcom Wells, all preceded her in death.

Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Janice and O'Neal Speigner of Enterprise, Ala., and Dorothy Nell and Jr. Miller of Marianna,; grandchildren, Cliff McGowan and wife Cindy of Esto, Ricky Miller and wife Tami of Marianna and Lisa McGowan of Dothan, Ala.; great-grandchildren, Trey and Justin McGowan of Esto and Dustin Miller of Marianna; step-son, Franklin Galloway and wife Helen of Pennsylvania; brother and sister-in-law, Billy and Lanette Wells of Clewiston; sisters, Frances Kirkland, Louise McGowan and husband Billy, Jeanette Berry, Lynette Crutchfield, all of Esto and Martha Register of Cottondale; and several nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, July 20, in the Antioch Baptist Church, with the Revs. Moody Faulk, Tom Skeen and Ryan Begue officiating.

Burial will follow in the Hartford City Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home of Geneva directing. Mrs. Galloway will be placed into the church one hour prior to service time. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Geneva Senior Citizen Center, 411 N. Iris St., Geneva, Ala., 36340.

Sorrells Funeral Home of Geneva is in charge of arrangements.

Shirley Lee Johnson, 68, of Graceville, Fla., passed away Sunday, July 17, 2005, at the Campbellton-Graceville Hospital.

She was born Feb. 13, 1937, in Waterloo, Iowa, the daughter of Leon Cecil Ackerman and Irene Beatrice Ackerman. She moved at a young age to San Diego, Calif., where she lived most of her life. She liked to roller-skate and dance and taught ballet for a short time. She traveled cross-country annually by motorcycle to visit her family and friends. She had a beloved pet, her dog, Bud.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Curtis Johnson.

Survivors include her son, William R. Nelson and his wife, Barb of Sacramento, Calif.; daughters, Laura Pierce and husband Eddie of Graceville and Sheryl Flint and husband Hank, also of Graceville; sisters, Beverly Parmer of El Cajon, Calif., and Janis Byer of Prescott, Ariz.; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, July 21, at 11 a.m., at the Williams Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Raymond O' Quinn officiating, with cremation to follow.

Flowers will be accepted.

Williams Funeral Home of Graceville is in charge of the arrangements.

Richard H. Dew, 60, of Marianna, Fla., passed away Tuesday, July 19, 2005, at Flowers Hospital in Dothan, Ala.

Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by James and Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel.

Harold Kennedy Shores, 44, of Alford, died Friday, July 15, 2005, at his residence. Funeral arrangements will be announced later by James and Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel.

Richard H. Dew, 60, of Marianna, Fla., passed away Tuesday, July 19, 2005, at Flowers Hospital in Dothan, Ala.

He was born in Plant City, living may years in Illinois and Missouri before moving to Marianna in 1985. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of Vietnam. He was the owner of an exotic bird aviary and a member of Sneads Pentecostal Holiness Church. He was affectionately known as "Dad" and "PaPa" and his greatest loves were his family and the outdoors.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William H. and Pearl M. Dew; wife, Maudel B. Dew; and step-son, Johnny Killingsworth.

Survivors include his two sons, Richard "Ricky" Dew and wife Kennesse and Jamie Lovely and wife Christi, all of Altha; daughters, Sherri A. Reed and husband Charles of St. Jacob, Ill., and Tina M. Foster and husband James of Staunton, Ill.; step-daughter, Vickie Gibson and husband James of Marianna; brothers, Robert Dew of Cahokia, Ill., and Lawrence Dew of Granite City, Ill.; sisters, Marion Krpan and Rosa Shubert, both of Granite City, Ill., Shirley Cerny of St.Jacob, Ill., Patricia Lowe of Doniphan, Mo., and Carrie Dykes of Wewahitchka; twelve grandchildren and one great-grandson.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, July 22, at Faith Haven Assembly of God Church in Grand Ridge, with the Rev. Jimmy Wright officiating. Burial will follow with full military honors by the Sneads American Legion Post 241, at Pinecrest Memorial Gardens, with James and Sikes Funeral Home of Marianna directing. The family will receive friends at Maddox Chapel, today, July 21, from 6-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to Sneads Pentecostal Holiness Church, 2036 Gloster Avenue, Sneads, Fla., 32460.

Oscar R. Alderman, 76, of Grand Ridge, Fla., died Saturday morning, July 9, 2005, at the home of his loving daughter after an extended illness.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, July 23, at 10 a.m., at the Alderman residence, located at 6909 Brushey Pond Road, in the Grand Ridge area, with Pastor William "Billy" Walker officiating.

military rites will be accorded by the honor detail of the American Legion Post 241 of Sneads. Burial will follow in the Armstrong-Alderman Family Cemetery, with Markham Funeral Home of Marianna directing.

Viola Daniels P. Lockworth, 93, of Sneads, went home to be with the Lord July 21, 2005, in Jackson Hospital.

She was a native of Sneads. She was a member of Little Zion Missionary Baptist Church and the Home Mission Lodge. She retired from the Florida State Hospital as a charge aide supervisor.

Survivors include her brother, John Daniels and wife Johnnie Mae of Sneads; daughters, Sharon D. McMillan and husband Rev. Randy of Alford and Cassandra D. Boles of Jacksonville; grandsons, Teoshon Payne of Sneads, Randyn McMillan of Alford, Keon and Korey Boles of Jacksonville; and granddaughter, S'Randyss McMillan of Alford.

Funeral services will be held today, July 29, at 11:30 a.m., at the Little Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Sneads, with the Revs. Eddie Bowers and C.S. Pope officiating.

The body will lie at the church from 10:30 a.m. until funeral time. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Vann Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Nettie Tidwell, 104, of Chipley, Fla., passed from this life July 30, 2005, in Chipley.

She was born June 12, 1901, to William and Lucy Williams Crossgrove, in Live Oak. She retired from the Federal Court System with over 25 years as a clerk. She came to Chipley three years ago from Summer Set Assisted Living in Dothan, Ala. She is a member of Bushnell First Baptist Church in Bushnell.

Survivors include her brother, James M. Crossgrove of Gulf Breeze; caregiver, Mary Ann Register and her family: Alan, Timothy, Michael and Thomas Register, all of Chipley; special friends Leland and Lanet James of Marianna; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held today, August 2, at 10 a.m., at Pinecrest Memorial Gardens in Marianna, with Dr.Kermit Soileau officiating. Brown Funeral Home of Chipley is directing.

James "Coach" Samuel Pavy, 82 of Brandon, Fla., formerly of Marianna, passed away July 22, 2005.

The youngest of six children, he is survived by a brother, Dr. Russell Pavy of Seal Beach, Calif., and a sister, Mary Steele of Manila, Ind.

As a married World War II veteran at newly co-ed Florida State University in 1946, Coach was point guard on the first FSU men's basketball team and scored the team's first points for three consecutive years. After graduating in 1950 with Bachelors and Masters Degrees, he coached and taught in both Malone and Chattahoochee, before settling in at Chipola Junior College in Marianna, where he retired in 1988 after 32 years.

In the four years he coached at Malone High School, he turned out three Class B state championship teams. At Chattahoochee, he coached both football and basketball for two years, winning the Florida Class B basketball state championship in 1956. At Chipola, Coach Pavy took the Indians to the National Junior College Tournament in 1959 and 1960. In 1959, the Indians placed ninth in the nation.

An excellent golfer and avid supporter of Seminole athletics, Coach enjoyed people and was well-known and respected by former players and students throughout the state.

Coach was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Jessie Liles Pavy. Survivors include his daughters Karen Rooks and Sandra Howsare of Tampa; granddaughters, Dr. Beth Rooks May of Quincy and Amy Rooks of Southern Pines, N.C.; and grandson Brian Patrick Howsare of Brandon.

A memorial service will be held at 10a.m., Saturday, August 6, at the First United Methodist Church in Marianna, with a remembrance time to follow for sharing of favorite stories. At Coach's request, attendees are encouraged to dress comfortably in a sport or golf shirt. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to LifePath Hospice, 3010 W. Azeele Street, Tampa, Fla., 33609. James and Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel of Marianna is directing.

Viola Shores Cogburn, 82, of Tallahassee, died Saturday, Aug. 6, 2005, in Tallahassee.

A native of Jackson County, she lived in Tallahassee since 1946. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. She was formerly a member of Bethel United Methodist Church and was a member of Bible Believers Fellowship in Tallahassee.

Survivors include her daughter, Helen Carr of Havana; son, Johnny Shores of Havana; brother, Floyd Seay of Tallahassee; sisters, Eloise White and Elma Kent, both of Alford, and Thelma Branning of Panama City; grandchildren, Angela Jo Herzfeldt of Havana, David Youngman of Woodville, Jacob Daniel Shores of Nichols, Ga., Melissa Morrison of Tallahassee and Jereme Maples of Crawfordville; 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, Aug. 8, at Salem Freewill Baptist Church in Alford. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends today, Aug. 7, from 3 to 5 p.m., at Bevis Funeral Home in Tallahassee. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
