Funeral Services for Mrs. Dorothy H. Bozeman, 73, of Panama City, Fla., who died Monday, Aug. 7, 2000, will be held at 10 a.m. today, Aug. 18, at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tom McCardle officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens.

JONATHAN 'JOE' BRUNSON, JR.
Mr. Jonathan "Joe" Brunson, Jr., 51, of 534 East 8th St., Panama City, Florida, died Thursday, Aug. 10, 2000, in Tampa, Florida. He had been a resident of this area for many years prior to moving to Tampa. Mr. Brunson joined the St. John Baptist Church and attended there throughout his stay in the area. He attended the public schools in Bay County, graduating from Rosenwald High School in 1965. His quest for higher education led him to Gulf Coast Community College where he received an Associate in Arts degree in 1968 and to Furman University in Greenville, S.C., receiving a Bachelor's degree in computer science in 1971. During "Joe's" years at Gulf Coast and Furman University, he was a "standout" in basketball. His love for basketball and his ability in playing the game earned him a place on the overseas professional teams in German and Italy. Settling back in the United States and having brief stays in Greenville, S.C., and Atlanta, Ga., he made his home in Tampa. Mr. Brunson is survived by his wife, Mary, and a step-granddaughter, Morchella Oliver of Tampa, Fla.; five sisters: Mrs. Annie Mae Otis, Mrs. Mary J. Jenkins, and Mrs. Patricia Colvin of California, Mrs. Betty Hicks and Ms. Carleen Brunson of Tallahassee; four brothers: John Smith of Miami, Ricky Brunson, Andrew Brunson, and Bill Brunson, all of Panama City; seven aunts: Mrs. Willie M. Bowers of Panama City, Mrs. Jarutha Seal of Fremont, Calif., Mrs. Dorothy Marshall of Delhi, La., Ms. Vinnie Tullos and Mrs. Sadie Allen of New Orleans, La., Mrs. Arnetta Wiley of Hayward, Calif., and Mrs. Pearl (Roger) Borne of Marrero, La.; three uncles: Tyree Tullos of New Orleans, La., Leo (Sarah) Mathis Sr., of Panama City, and John S. (Glenda) Tullos of Jackson, Miss.; special cousins: Robert Brunson, Ms. Geraldine Taylor, Mrs. Myra Williams, Ms. Evelyn Bryant, Mrs. Mable Lee, and Ms. Ida M. Orum; and a host of nieces, nephews, other cousins, and friends. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 19, at St. John Baptist Church with Dr. Rory L. Bedford officiating. Interment will follow at Redwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Jonathan "Joe" Brunson Memorial Fund at Bay Bank. The body will lie in state at the church on Saturday from 9 a.m. until service time. The family will receive relatives and friends at 514 E. 8th St.

LEE CANTY
Mr. Lee Canty, age 94, of Panama City, died on Monday, Aug. 14, 2000, in a local nursing home. He was the son of Steve and Viola Canty of Pike County, Ala., and was the last surviving child of this family. Mr. Canty was converted at an early age and was a member of Macedonia C.M.E. Church in Pike County, where he served as a Junior Steward. In the early forties he moved to Panama City and worked at Wainwright Shipyard. He later moved to Warren, Ohio, where he worked for Republic Steel Company from which he retired after 36 years of service. During the seventies, he returned to Panama City where he later united with Greater Bethel A.M.E. Church. Mr. Canty enjoyed the fellowship of friends in the community, and when he was able, attended the Martin Luther King Senior Center. Throughout his illness, he never lost his patience nor his sweet spirit. He leaves to mourn his demise a loving and devoted wife, Lossie Canty; a son, John H. (Ruby) Canty and their children of Warren, Ohio; a devoted granddaughter, Shauna (Lester) Scott and their children of Youngstown, Ohio; a special niece, Mrs. Inostine (Willie) Jackson of Warren, Ohio; several great grandchildren who visited with him this summer, other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Mr. Canty's daughter, Mary Ellen, preceded him in death. Special friends to this family are: John Barry, Shuana's father, who has always been caring and supportive in every way possible. The funeral services will be held on Saturday, Aug. 19, at 2 p.m., at Greater Bethel A.M.E. Church with the Rev. O.C. Williams, Pastor, officiating. Public visitation will begin this afternoon from 1 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. The remains will lie in state one hour prior to services at the church. The family will receive friends at their residence of 616 East 9th St.

MOLLY JOY GAY CARTER
Mrs. Joy Carter passed from this life on Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2000. She was born in Cairo, Ga., on June 25, 1935, to Tobe and Roby Gay. She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her former husband, William (Bill) M. Carter of Ormond Beach and their daughter, Lisa Lambert (Chris) of Ormond Beach; three brothers: Martin (Buddy) Gay of Wewahitchka, Troy Gay of Kennesaw, Ga., and Toby Gay of Quincy; one sister, Mary Ellen Marshall of Panama City; numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation will be held at First Baptist Church of Wewahitcka today from 6 to 8 p.m. CST. Funeral services will be on Saturday, Aug. 19, at 2 p.m. CST at First Baptist Church of Wewahitchka. Burial will follow at Poplar Head Cemetery in Clarksville. Asked to serve as pallbearers are: Mark Gay, Mitchell Gay, Dale Marshall, Croska Williamson, Dale Marshall and Sidney O'Neal.

MARY STEVENS ELLIOTT
Mary Stevens Elliott, of Lynn Haven, Fla., died Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2000, in her home. She had been a resident of Bay County since 1964 moving here from Cleveland, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Elliott. She was a member of St. Dominic's Roman Catholic Church. She is survived by three sons: Mark Elliott, Jimmy Elliott, both of Panama City, Billy Elliott and his wife, Sharon of Baton Rouge, La.; six grandchildren: Elizabeth Elliott, Sarah Elliott, Christopher Elliott, Erin Elliott, Andrew Elliott, Alexander Elliott; four brothers: Lynn Stevens of Daytona Beach, Fla., Larry Stevens of Panama City, Steve Stevens of Cordas Lake, Ariz., John Stevens of Kent, Ohio. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. in St. Dominic's Roman Catholic Church with Father Peter Zalewski officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. today. Those desiring to may make a contribution to the American Heart Association in memory of Mary Elliott.

CHARLES MEAD FRENCH
Charles Mead French, Age 90, of Sunnyhills, Fla., passed away Monday, Aug. 14, 2000, at Chipley, Fla. Born Jan. 10, 1910, to Willis and Nellie French in Lime Springs, Iowa, he moved to Worthington, Minn., and attended school there. Charles worked for Civil Service in Dayton, Ohio, Army Corp. of Engineer from 1946 until 1970 after which he retired and moved to Sunny Hills, Fla., in 1970 where he resided until death. He was also a member of the Fraternity Lodge 101, Worthington, Minn., member of the Order of the Eastern Star and of the Sunny Hills Community Presbyterian Church. He was a Mason. Funeral services will be held today, Aug. 18, at 10 a.m. at Sunny Hills Community Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Tom Douglas officiating with burial following in Sunnyhills Community Presbyterian Cemetery with Brown Funeral Home Directing. Survivors include a daughter, Ellen Louise Miller, Thornberg, Va.; two grandaughters, Joanie Blevins and Christina Kidd and two grandsons, Jessie and Dillon Kidd.

Eddie Hambrick, of 2025 E. 7th St., died Monday, Aug. 14, 2000, in the Hathaway-Cheek family, where he had a working, friendship relationship. Graveside services will be held today, Aug. 18, at 11 a.m. in Redwood Cemetery with Bishop Lonnie Mitchell officiating. Interment will follow. The remains will lie in state one hour prior to services at the funeral home today.

ELLEN H. KEARNS
Ms. Ellen H. Kearns, age 70, of 6027 S. Lagoon Dr., Panama City Beach, Fla., died Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2000 at a local hospital. She has been a resident of the area for 41 years, coming here from Talledega, Ala. and was a member of Gulf Beach Baptist Church. Ms. Kearns is survived by her Daughters, Kathy Strickland and her husband Ricky of Panama City Beach and Doris Waters of Panama City Beach; a son, Billy Kearns Jr. of Panama City Beach; grandchildren: Sara Naomi Waters, Natalie Strickland, and Trevor Strickland; sisters, Dorothy Coley and her husband Fayne of Gadsden, Ala., and Anne Merkl and her husband Don of Newnan, Ga.; cousin, Jean Sanders Mood of San Antonio, Texas; several nieces and nephews; and several grand-nieces and nephews. Graveside funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today, Aug. 18, at Evergreen Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Gregory George officiating. Interment will follow. CLARENCE ROBINSON SR. "BIG MAN"
Mr. Clarence Robinson Sr. "Big Man", 55, of 208 Sims Ave. died Sunday Aug. 13, 2000 in his home. He was a native of Opalocka, Fla. and a resident of Panama City or many years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rosie Lee Griffin and James Robinson; sister, Margareet James and brother, Leroy Robinson. He is survived by his wife, Bonita Robinson of Panama City; children: Clarence Jr. Tony (Pat), Devon, Donnell and Pernell; sister, Lillian Jones of Panama City; two brothers, Eugene Streets (Dessie) of Rockford, Ill. and Omar J. Brown (Annie) of Panama City; mother-in-law, Emma Mae Brooks of Panama City; brother-in-law, Lonnie James of Panama City; two sisters-in-law, Marshale Stikes and Hattie Rivers (Willie) both of Panama City; aunt, Poll Griffin of Indiantown, F1a.; a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services for Mr. Robinson will be held Saturday, Aug. 19 at 2:30 p.m. in St. Temple Apostolic Church,1423 Fountian Ave. with the Rev. James Bush Jr. officiating. Interment to follow in Hillside Cemetery. The remains will repose a the Church this evening from 7 to 9 p.m. and will lie in state at the Church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until service time. The family will receive relatives and friends at 1015 Church Ave.

THERESA WARD
Ms. Theresa "Terri" Ward, 60, of Panama City Beach, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, Aug. 17, 2000. Born in St. Louis, Mo., she and her family moved to Panama City Beach in 1970 from Illinois. Ms. Ward was a cosmetologist for over 30 years and owners of Terri's Beauty Shop in Laguna Beach until 1991. She touched the lives of many with her talents and generous heart. Her beauty shop was the place of laughter and fellowship with clients and friends near and far. She never turned away a person in need, nor put herself before another. Terri lost her strong and unyielding battle against cancer but went in peace. Ms. Ward is survived by two daughters, Tracy Ward Buchanan and her husband Larry of Panama City and Joni Lynn Choat; two granddaughters, Christine and Samantha Choat of Panama City Beach; four sisters: Annie Schlemmer, Helen Horn and her husband Louie, Frances Hall all of St. Louis, Mo., Arleen Trompeter and husband Ted of Paso Robles, Calif.; brother, Paul Sporich and his wife Joan of St. Louis; sisters-in-law, Jenna Sporich and Ethel Sporich of St. Louis; brother-in-law, Joe Jakubowski. She was preceded in death by her father, mother and five brothers: John, Mike, Pete, Larry and Ronnie and one sister, Ceil Jakubowski. The family would like to sincerely thank Hospice of North West Florida, National Health Care Center of P.C., Dr. J. Michael McQueen and staff and Enterprise Medical Center 2nd floor nurses in Enterprise, Ala., for continuous, passionate care of their dearest departed. Graveside funeral services will be conducted by Kutis-Afton Funeral Home in Afton/St. Louis, Mo., on Monday, Aug. 21, at St. Marcus Cemetery in St. Louis.
