Carol Ann Turner of Tallahassee died Saturday, Aug. 26, 2000, in Tallahassee. Born in Mobile, Ala., she lived in Tallahassee for 17 years and worked as an attorney for the State Public Defender's Office. She was a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity and a member of the East Hill Baptist Church. Survivors include son, Jesse Turner of Tallahassee; mother, Yvonne Turner of Panama City; brothers, Joel H. Turner and George Michael Turner, both of Panama City. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. today, Aug. 28, 2000, at East Hill Baptist Church in Tallahassee. A private internment will be held at Culley's MeadowWood Memorial Park in Tallahassee. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to East Hill Baptist Church, 912 Miccosukee Road, Tallahassee, FL 32308.

BARNEY GLENN WHITWORTH
Barney Glenn Whitworth, 75, of 6980 Bass St. in Wewahitchka, died Sunday, Aug. 27, 2000, in a local nursing home. He had been a resident of this area since 1973 after moving here from Myrtle Beach, S.C. He was a retired aircraft mechanic in the U.S. Air Force, where he served during World War II, Vietnam and the Korean War. He was a life member of the VFW Post 10069 and the Grand Masonic Lodge of South Carolina. He is survived by his wife, Mary Whitworth; daughter, Janice Evans and husband John of Panama City; three stepchildren: Lela Dover and husband Roger of Panama City, Henry Calhoun of Clarksville, Fla., and Charles Calhoun of Tampa; grandson, Glenn Whitworth; seven stepgrandchildren: Rhea Raffield, Amy Dover, Roger Dover, Carrie Dover, Chassidy Calhoun, Adam Calhoun, Cody Calhoun; sister, Ann Legnard and her husband Bud of St. Cloud, Fla.; and a great-grandchild Hayley Calhoun. Graveside funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the Evergreen Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Dennis Hopkins officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 to 7 p.m. today. The family will be at the home of Lela Dover, 9135 Oakridge Lane, Bayou George.

LAVADA WHITAKER FOREHAND
Lavada Whitaker Forehand, age 82, of 312 Caldwell Ave., Bonifay, Fla., passed away Aug. 26, 2000, at Northwest Florida Community Hospital in Chipley. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Forehand; grandson, Dennis Forehand; great-grandson, Junstin Lee; brothers, Herbert Whitaker, Curtis Whitaker, Robert Whitaker and Lawson Whitaker; parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.J. Whitaker. Survivors include sons, Frank and wife Jan Forehand of Pensacola, James and wife Celia Forehand of Cummings, Ga., Joe Forehand of Panama City Beach, Ralph and wife Betty Forehand of Bonifay; daughter, Becky and husband Earl Garner of Bonifay; brothers, Frank Whitaker of Fort Walton Beach, Hoyt Whitaker of Ocala, Floyd Whitaker of Sampson, Ala., Hiram Whitaker of Columbus, Ga.; sisters, Luverne Williams of Valparaiso, Fla., Mattie Lou Moore of Bonifay; 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held today, Aug. 29, at Red Hill Methodist Church with the Rev. Tommy Moore and the Rev. Jeff Garner officiating. Burial will follow at Bonifay City Cemetery in Bonifay with Peel Funeral Home directing. Pallbearers include: Marty Forehand, Kyle Forehand, Keith Forehand, Jeff Garner, Jeff Whitaker and Bradley Rich.

Memorial services for Mrs. Pearle Mae Hearn, age 103, of 224 San Gabriel St., Panama City Beach, Fla., who passed away Friday, Aug. 25, 2000, at a local nursing home, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 30, at Forest Park United Methodist Church with the Rev. J. Michael Bryan officiating.

CHRISTNA 'CHRIS' KENT
Christna (Chris) Kent, 78, of 315 Byrd Parker Drive, Wewahitchka, Fla., died Sunday, Aug. 27, 2000, in his home. He had been a resident of Bay County from 1942-1983 before moving to Wewahitchka. He was a supervisor for Gulf Power for 36 years. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of VFW Post 8285 of Wewahitchka, a former member of Oakland Terrace Men's Club and he attended the First United Methodist Church of Wewahitchka. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Betty Cox Kent of Wewahitchka; three sons, Terry W. Kent of Panama City, Don C. Kent and his wife, Sandy of Tallahassee, Rick Kent and his wife Lisa of Panama City; 13 grandchildren, Michelle and Andy Elmore, Kelly Sperandeo, Ginger and Chris Hatfield, Kevin Kent, Kraig Kent, Terry Kent II, Amanda Kent, Casey Kent, Kyndra Liebermann, Bret Kent and Brad Kent; three great-grandchildren, Hunter Sperandeo, Hayes Hatfield and Addison Hatfield; a brother, Ernest Kent and his wife Jean of Panama City; and two sisters, Nadine York and her husband Bruce Beasley of Panama City and Lois Gartner and her husband John of Wewahitchka. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. in Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. John Cramer, the Rev. Harry Johnson and the Rev. R.C. Warren officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. Those desiring to may make a contribution to the Lou Gehrig's Foundation or to Hospice of N.W. Florida, Inc. 2589 Jenks Ave., Panama City, Fla. 32401 in memory of Chris Kent.

MARGUERITE MORGAN SHUMAKER
Marguerite Morgan Shumaker went to be with the Lord on Aug. 27, 2000. She was born to Mary Ella Burger Morgan and Thomas William Morgan on June 20, 1922, in Farmville, Va. She is survived by her husband, Col. George Leiper Shumaker; her sons, Robert Morgan Shumaker and his wife, Claudia of Lynn Haven, and Karl Morgan Shumaker, and his wife Caroline of Sebastopol, Calif.; four granddaughters, Betsy Shumaker Hughes and her husband, Bill Hughes III of Lynn Haven, Courtney Collins Shumaker of Tallahassee, Laura Shumaker and Lucia Shumaker of Sebastopol, Calif. She is also survived by her sister, Cecile Morgan Webb and her husband, John of Montgomery, Ala., and her brother, Robert B. Morgan and his wife Marianne of Birmingham, Ala.; a sister-in-law, Priscilla Heard of Belton, Texas; and 14 nieces and nephews. Marguerite was a graduate of Huntingdon College where she received her bachelors degree and Auburn University where she earned her masters. A loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and a precious friend to many, Marguerite was also a talented artist and a gifted teacher, having taught most recently in the Art Department at Bay High School prior to retiring in 1984. Marguerite was a member of First United Methodist Church of Panama City, Delta Kappa Gamma Society, The Woman's Club of Panama City, and life member of the Auburn and Huntingdon Alumni Associations. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Doug Newton officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Wilson Funeral Home today from 6 to 8 p.m. Those desiring may make a contribution to The Gideons International or First United Methodist Church, Panama City, Fla. JOSEPH JOSHUA SPENCE
Mr. Joseph Joshua Spence, age 65, of 4513 Pipeline Road, Panama City, Fla., died Sunday, Aug. 27, 2000, at his home. He attended East Side Assembly of God . Mr. Spence also enjoyed wood working and his music. He is survived by his wife, Mary C. Spence of Panama City; a daughter, Etrudie Jane Martin of Shelbyville, Tenn.; a son, Joseph J. Spence Jr. of Cornersville, Tenn.; step-daughters, Tammy Paul, Renee Knight, Genice Hice, and Angelina Woods, all of Panama City; a stepson, Sentry Burkett of Panama City; sisters, Mary Steele of Grimes, Ala., and Edith Covington of Altamonte Springs, Fla.; brothers, Thomas M. Spence and David Albert Spence, both of Panama City, the Rev. James Eugene Spence of Waycross, Ga., the Rev. Samuel J. Spence of Panama City and Cecil Edward Spence of Traveler Rest, S.C.; and 15 grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 30, at East Side Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Don Shoots officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Funeral service for Mrs. Elizabeth Ann Bailey, 48, of Chipley, Fla., who died Sunday, Aug. 27, 2000, will be held today, Aug. 30, 2000, at 3 p.m., in Southerland Family Funeral Home-Lynn Haven Chapel with the Rev. ROBERT F. CRISP
Robert F. Crisp, 68, businessman and community servant, passed away suddenly on Aug. 28, 2000. He was born in Jacksonville, Fla., but had lived most of his adult life in Marianna. He was a graduate of Marianna High School, Chipola Junior College and Florida State University, He served in the U.S. Marine Corp, achieving the rank of major. He was the President of Ormond Insurance Agency and Florida Land Title and Trust Company for over 30 years prior to his retirement in 1908, and more recently devoted much of his time developing and maintaining his rental properties. His activities include past-president of the Jackson County Chamber of Commerce, past-president of the Marianna Kiwanis Club, Council of 25 membership, past-president and longtime director of the Florida Land Title Association, among many volunteer activities. He enjoyed spending time with his family, traveling and Florida State football. He had been a very active member of the First Baptist Church in Marianna for over 50 years, serving in many leadership capacities, including teaching Sunday school for many years. He has served as an ordained deacon for over 40 years, serving as deacon chairman and church treasurer for several years. He was a member of the Fisherman's Sunday School Class. He was preceded in death by his father, James W. Crisp Sr., and his mother, Edna E. Crisp. He is survived by his loving family; his wife, Pat Crisp; and his daughters and their husbands, Cindy and Ernie Davis, of Ommen, Holland, Sonja and Walter Bennett, of Vandiver, Ala., and Tami and Kris Kuyk of Birmingham, Ala.; five grandchildren, Robert, Matt and Amanda Davis and David and Daniel Kuyk; his brothers and wives, Billy and Kathryn Crisp of Cottondale, Donald and Tyrene Crisp of Panama City and sister, Betty Crisp of Albany, Ga.; his mother-in-law, Ruby Malloy; and sister and brother-in-law, Gloria and Mike Ross of Kathleen, Ga., and a number of nieces and nephews. Family visitation will be held at Marianna First Baptist Church Thursday evening, Aug. 31, 7 to 9 p.m., with the service celebrating his life held Friday, Sept. 1, at 10 a.m. at First Baptist Church. Burial will be at Pinecrest Memory Gardens. Lord Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Flowers will be appreciated, or memorial donations may be made to the Robert F. Crisp Memorial Scholarship Fund at Chipola Junior College Foundation, 3094 Indian Circle, Marianna, Fla. 32446 or to the charity of your choice. The Fisherman's Sunday School Class and the Deacons of First Baptist Church have been asked to serve as honorary pallbearers.
