Mrs. Gene Roche Dutton, 69, of Panama City, Fla., died Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2000, in a local hospital. Born in Mobile, Ala., she was a longtime resident of Panama City. She was a homemaker and Catholic by faith. A son, Joseph M. Dutton, precedes Mrs. Dutton in death. Mrs. Dutton is survived by two sons, John D. Dutton and James R. Dutton both of Panama City; one daughter, Terry Ann Thornhill and husband James of Pascagoula, Miss.; daughter-in-law, Susan Dutton of Moss Point, Miss.; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, Aug. 31, at 10 a.m. in Southerland Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends at the funeral home this evening from 6 to 8 p.m.

CHRISTNA 'CHRIS' KENT
Funeral services for Christna (Chris) Kent, 78, of 315 Byrd Parker Drive, Wewahitchka, Fla., who died Sunday, Aug. 27, 2000, in his home will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. in Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. John Cramer, the Rev. Harry Johnson and the Rev. R.C. Warren officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Active pallbearers are Andy Byrd, Terry McKinney, John Mitchell, Rex Outlaw, John Gartner and Chris Cannady. Honorary pallbearers are the active and retired employees of Gulf Power, members of the VFW Post 8285 and Auxillary, Dr. Michael Barnes, employees of Hospice of N.W. Florida and members of the Gulf Cart Club of Byrd Parker Drive of Wewahitchka. Funeral services for Marguerite Morgan Shumaker, who went to be with the Lord on Aug. 27, 2000, will be held today at 11 a.m. in Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Doug Newton officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Those desiring may make a contribution to The Gideons International or First United Methodist Church, Panama City, Florida. JOSEPH JOSHUA SPENCE
Mr. Joseph Joshua Spence, age 65, of 4513 Pipeline Road, Panama City, Fla., died Sunday, Aug. 27, 2000, at his home. He attended East Side Assembly of God. Mr. Spence also enjoyed wood working and his music. He is survived by his wife, Mary C. Spence of Panama City; a daughter, Etrudie Jane Martin of Shelbyville, Tenn.; a son, Joseph J. Spence Jr. of Cornersville, Tenn.; stepdaughters: Tammy Paul, Renee Knight, Genice Hice and Angelina Woods, all of Panama City; a stepson, Sentry Burkett of Panama City; sisters, Mary Steele of Grimes, Ala., and Edith Covington of Altamonte Springs, Fla.; brothers, Thomas M. Spence and David Albert Spence, both of Panama City, the Rev. James Eugene Spence of Waycross, Ga., The Rev. Samuel J. Spence of Panama City and Cecil Edward Spence of Traveler Rest, S.C.; and 15 grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., today, Aug. 30, at East Side Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Don Shoots officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will include Tommy Spence, Tim Spence, Kevin Spence, Sentry Burkett, Shawn Paul and Blair Martin.

RUTH AMANDA ZELINSKI
Ruth Amanda Zelinski, 81, of 66 1st. St., Mexico Beach, Fla., died Monday, Aug. 28, 2000, in a local nursing home. She had been a resident of Mexico Beach since April 2000, moving there from Charleston, S.C. She was preceded in death by a son, William Robert Strickland. She is survived by a daughter, Sylvia S. Whaley and her husband, Joe; a daughter-in-law, Joyce Strickland; four grandchildren, Lisa Bray, Stacia Branum, Edward Whaley and Bill Strickland; six great-grandchildren; and a sister, Marie Amos. A memorial service will be held in Charleston, S.C. at a later date. Those desiring to may make a contribution to Hospice of N.W. Florida, 2589 Jenks Ave., Panama City, FL 32405 in memory of Ruth Zelinski.

CARL FRANKLIN CONRAD
Mr. Carl Franklin Conrad, age 70 of 262 Bay Ave., Wewahitchka, Fla., passed away Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2000, at his home. He was preceded in death by his son, Kenneth Conrad and his parents, Jim H. and Verna Conrad. Survivors include two daughters, Wanda Gayle Wood and her husband Roy of Highland View, and Barbara Norris and her husband James of Jones Homestead; one sister, Kathryn King of Wewahitchka, Fla.; one brother, Royce Conrad and his wife Jean of Cottonwood, Ala.; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one special niece, Gail Nunnery of Wewahitchka; several other nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. today at Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church in Wewahitchka with the Rev. Michael Evans and the Rev. Neal Miller officiating. Interment will follow in Holly Hill Cemetery in Port St. Joe. Asked to serve as active pallbearers are Steve Stripling, Bobby Adams, Eric Pettis, Charlie Pettis, Mickey Gainnie and Wayne Price.

Bobby Jimerson, 51, passed away Monday, Aug. 28, 2000, at Hereford Regional Medical Center. Funeral services are under the direction of Parkside Chapel Funeral Home of Hereford, Texas, and will be held at 2 p.m. today at Hereford Church of the Nazarene with the Rev. Ted Taylor officiating. Interment will follow in West Park Cemetery in Hereford. Mr. Jimerson was born Dec. 10, 1948, in Ridgely, Tenn., the son of James and Sybil Jimerson. He married Edna Harris on Feb, 7, 1981, in Panama City, Fla., where he worked as a homicide investigator for the Panama City Police Department for 19 years. He moved to Hereford in 1995 and worked for the Deaf Smith County District Attorney's Office as an investigator. Mr. Jimerson belonged to the Fraternal Order of Police in Panama City and was a member of the Hereford Church of the Nazarene. Survivors include his wife, Edna, of the home, six sons, three daughters, one brother, 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by a brother and a daughter.

JEANETTE S. PALMER
Jeanette S. Palmer, 81, went to be with the Lord on Aug. 30, 2000. She died in a local nursing home. She had been a resident of Panama City since 1984. She is survived by a son, Ray Palmer and his wife, Dee of Panama City; daughter, Gloria Weck and her husband, John of Atlanta, Ga.; eight grandchildren, Dovana Smith of Iva, S.C., Tim Palmer of Suffolk, Va., Kim Roland of Panama City Beach, Matt Palmer of Winter Haven, Fla., Todd Owen and Stephen Owen of Atlanta, Ga., Stephen McAllister and George McAllister of Panama City. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ron Gallagher officiating. Interment will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 6-8 p.m.

NANCY L. 'NAN' AITCHISON
Ms. Nancy L. "Nan" Aitchison, age 67, of Panama City, Fla., passed away Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2000, at a local hospital. She was a native of Fitchburg, Mass., and had lived in Panama City for 17 years. Ms. Aitchison retired as a Lt. Col. after 23 years of service in the U.S. Air Force. She enjoyed traveling throughout the country in her motor home as a member of the Holiday Rambler RV Club. She was a lifetime member of the Parker Chapter, V.F.W. Ms. Aitchison is survived by a brother, Harry C. Aitchison Sr. of Sun Lakes, Ariz.; nephews, Harry C. Aitchison Jr. of Toledo, Wash., and Thomas L. Aitchison of Seattle, Wash.; a niece, Nancy Aitchison of Fairbanks, Alaska; one grand-nephew, Kai Aitchison of Toledo, Wash.; a grand-niece, Marci Aitchison of Toledo, Wash.; and a loving friend and companion of 40 years, Peggy J. Parnell of Panama City. Graveside funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 2 at Evergreen Memorial Gardens with Chaplain Buddy Walker officiating. Interment will follow with full military honors conducted by Tyndall Air Force Base.

CARL ALTON GUILFORD
Carl Alton Guilford Sr., 71, of Overstreet, passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2000. Mr. Guilford was a native of Overstreet. His parents were the late James R. and Alice Gertrude Hardy Guilford, both pioneers of the Overstreet area. He was a retired Major in the United States Air Force. After the service, he attended the University of Florida where he received his bachelor of science degree in pharmacy. He then returned to Overstreet and worked as a pharmacist for 35 years until his retirement. He was of the Presbyterian faith. Mr. Guilford is survived by his wife, Billie Jeanne Campbell Guilford; three daughters: Laura Guilford Dean, Yvonne Guilford Guillot, and Alyson Guilford Miller; two sons, Carl A. Guilford Jr. and William Stuart Guilford; seven grandchildren: Rhett and Justin Dean, Chris, Sean, and Josh Guilford, Kale and Devin Guillot; three brothers: William James Guilford, Charles Edward Guilford, and George Robert Guilford; two sisters, Maxine Guilford Davis, and Alice Guilford Moorehead; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be today, Sept. 1, from 5 to 7 p.m. EDT at Comforter Funeral Home. Graveside funeral services will be Saturday, Sept. 2, at 10 a.m. at Holly Hill Cemetery with the Rev. David Fernandez officiating. Interment will follow. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Port St. Joe's Elementary, JR/SR School Libraries.

HOWARD CLIFTON LASSITER
Mr. Howard Clifton Lassiter, age 82, of 312 School Ave., Panama City, Fla., died Thursday, Aug. 31, 2000, at a local hospital. He had been a resident of the area for 50 years and retired from International Paper Co. Mr. Lassiter was a veteran of World War II in the European Theater as a front line medic. He also coached for the Fred Bishop Little League for 27 years, and served as president of the league for three years. Mr. Lassiter was a member of Springfield Baptist Church, the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge No. 1389, and Legionaire No. 182. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Wilma Lassiter of Panama City; five sons: George E. Lassiter and his wife Judy, James H. Lassiter and his wife Celeste, A. Wayne Lassiter and his wife Missy, and Sammy L. Lassiter and his wife Jackie, all of Panama City, and Jeffrey S. Lassiter and his wife Lorie of Wewahitchka; sisters, Carolyn Davis of Moss Point, Miss., and Sybil Wooten and her husband Tommy of Spanish Fort, Ala.; a brother, Herman Lassiter of Gainesville, Fla.; sisters-in-law, Ellen Hopper and Bertie Messer, both of Panama City, and Sue Diehl of Westville, Fla.; brother-in-law, Harold Creel of Panama City; sixteen grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 2, at Springfield Baptist Church with the Rev. Jerry Everage and the Rev. David Lamb officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Asked to serve as active pallbearers are: Don Sitte, Mike Bennett, Mike Davis, Jim Brooks, Charley Dotson, and Charley Hall.
