Funeral services for Emma Josephine DeLacey Hilton will be held today at 10 a.m. in Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Joe Patterson officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Following the interment, there will be a celebration of Emma's life at the Holiday Inn Select, across from the mall. Those desiring to may make a contribution to The Option Institute, 2080 South Undermountain Road, Sheffield, Mass. 01257-9643.

NETA SUE JEREMIAH
Mrs. Neta Sue Jeremiah, 87, of Myakka City, Fla., passed away Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2000, at her daughter's home in Myakka City. Sue was born in Fountain, Fla., on Feb. 26, 1913, and lived in Panama City for most of her life. She had been living with her daughter Marie since 1995 and was a member of First United Methodist Church of Panama City. She was also a member of Panama City Garden Club. Sue was a very devoted wife, mother and friend and we will truly miss her. Memories of her will always be with us and she will hold a special place in our hearts until we are with her again. She is survived by one son, John P. Jeremiah of Pensacola; two daughters, Nora Batts of Orlando and Marie Nelson of Myakka City; one sister, Betty Westcott-Plummer of St. Petersburg; five grandchildren: Michelle and Kevin Jeremiah, Brent Sapp, Keith and Ryan Nelson. Funeral services will be conducted today, Sept. 16, at 2 p.m. in the Southerland Family Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ross Hilton officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today one hour prior to the funeral service. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Kevin Jeremiah, Brent Batts, Keith Nelson, Ryan Nelson, Bill Lewis, and Jimmy Smith.

Funeral services for Mr. Luria Milton "Jiggs" Johnson, 85, of Panama City, Fla., will be held at 10 a.m. in Southerland Family Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Curtis Kent and the Rev. Roy Carroll officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. The following gentlemen will serve as active pallbearers: Michael Stukey, Henry Stukey, Ashley Stukey, Nathan Stukey, Gareth Miller, and Steve Bennage. Honorary pallbearers will be: Jerry Farrell, Richard Davis, David Waldroff, Roger Clark, Joel Miller, Jimmy Jones, and all classmates from the Bay High School Class of 1934.

Ann M. Jones, age 78, of Madison, died on Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2000, in a Madison, Wisc., hospital following a long illness. She was born on Aug. 3, 1922, in Florida to John and Estella (Bullock) Moody. She had been a long time Madison resident. She was a very bright and witty person. Even during her long illness her attributes of strength and courage were admired by many. She loved to read and solve crossword puzzles. She is survived by five children: Donna (Michael) Krause of Madison, Linda (Larry) Goad of Madison, Patricia (Richard) Cox of Galesville, Wisc., Terri (Scott) Enstrom of Madison and Sherri Jones of Windsor; brother, David (Merle) Moody of Florida; sister-in-law, Susie Gaston of Louden, Tenn.; 14 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack; parents; a sister, Mettie Worthington; two brothers, J.B. and Ed Moody. Funeral services were held at Ryan Funeral Home on Friday, Sept. 15, at 11 a.m. Burial was held at Forest Hill Cemetery.

WANEASE MOORE WALDROP
Wanease Moore Waldrop, 89, of Panama City Beach, died Thursday, Sept. 14, 2000, in a local hospital. She was a homemaker and had been a resident of Bay County since 1964, moving here from Birmingham, Ala. She was a member of Gulf Beach Presbyterian Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ennis Waldrop. She is survived by Paulette and David Zeigler of Smiths, Ala., Mark and Shelia Waldrop of Ocala, Fla., Susan Colbert and Dot Waldrop of Scottoboro, Ala., and her best friend, Jackie Elliott. Funeral services will be held today at 1 p.m. in Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Ken Churchill and the Rev. Malcolm Koehler officiating. Interment will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery.

FRANCES COPE
Frances Cope, 82, of Chipley, passed from this life on Friday, Sept. 15, 2000, at Chipley. She had resided in Chipley since 1932 coming from Holmes County. She was of the Baptist faith and a member of the Holmes Creek Baptist Church. Funeral services will be today, Sept. 17, 2000, at 2 p.m. in the Holmes Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Dennis Singletary officiating. Burial will follow in the Glenwood Cemetery with Brown Funeral Home directing. The family received friends on Saturday, Sept. 16, 2000, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Wachob Chapel. She is survived by her stepmother, Euris Snell of Chipley; one brother, Millard Snell of Leesburg, Ga.; two half-brothers, Sidney Snell and Jerry Snell, both of Chipley.

LOUISE JEANETTE KIRKLAND
Louise Jeanette Kirkland, 79, of Panama City, formerly of Marianna, died Friday, Sept. 15, 2000, at Bay Medical Center in Panama City. She was a native of Dale County, Ala. She was a life-long resident of Jackson County having lived the past two years in Panama City. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. She is survived by two sons, Charles Shores and his wife Joann, and Tillman Shores and his wife Becky, all of Panama City; two daughters, Thelma Richardson and her husband M.L., of Panama City, and Glenda Chatwood and her husband Frankie of Marianna; one sister, Gladys Childree of Cottonwood, Ala.; 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Monday, Sept. 18, 2000, at 2 p.m. CDT at Maddox Chapel with the Rev. Dennis Olsen officiating. Burial will follow in Kynesville Methodist Cemetery with James and James Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing. The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. today at Maddox Chapel.

THOMAS E. YARROWS
Mr. Thomas E. Yarrows, 88, of Lynn Haven, died Thursday, Sept. 14, 2000, at his home. He had been a resident of the area for 10 years, coming here from Massachusetts. Mr. Yarrows was a farmer, clockmaker, and master woodworker. He formerly served in the Army Corp. of Engineers in South America, was president of the Hampshire County Garden Club and owned and operated the Wooden Art Gallery in Hatfield, Mass. He was a devoted husband and father who was dearly loved by all. Mr. Yarrows is survived by his wife, Marian Yarrows of Lynn Haven; sons, Basil B. Yarrows and Thomas F. Yarrows; daughter, Ellen R. Golinski; nine grandchildren and several great- grandchildren all from Massachusetts. A private memorial service will be held for the family.

WILLA DIANE HARRIS
Mrs. Willa Diane Harris, 56, of Panama City passed away Saturday, Sept. 16, 2000, at her home with her family at her side. She was a native of Juneau, Ark., and had lived in Panama City for more than 25 years. She was a dietician at Gulf Coast Medical Center and Bay Convalescent Center, and was of the Mormon faith. She was also a member of the VFW Post No. 2185, the AmVets Post No. 2298 and the American Legion Post No. 375. Survivors include her daughter, Tammy Lee Ramsey of Panama City; one son, Troy Shelton of Panama City; one step-son, Herbert Harris of Panama City Beach; three grandchildren: Christopher Lee Allen, Anthony Harris and Brittany Ramsey. She was predeceased by her husband, Charles Leslie Harris in November 1999. Memorial services will be held at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2000, from the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. R.C. Warner officiating. Memorialization by cremation will follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Hospice of Northwest Florida, 2589 Jenks Ave., Panama City, FL 32405.

Cora Mae Nix Layfield, 88, of Columbus, Ga., died Sunday, Sept. 17, 2000, at the Magnolia Manor Nursing Home in Americus, Ga. Graveside funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 19, at Parkhill Cemetery with the Rev. Emory Gilbert officiating, according to Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Macon Road, Columbus. The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Layfield was born Sept. 9, 1912, in Macon, Ga., daughter of the late Rufus Alfred Nix and Nanie Lou Howell Nix. She was a member of the St. Luke United Methodist Church where she was also a member of the Circle No. 1 United Methodist Women. Mrs. Layfield was a member of the Fellowship Sunday School Class at Striplin Terrace United Methodist Church and the Wygeli Garden Club of Columbus. She was a homemaker and volunteer reading teacher at the Columbus Independent Baptist Church. Mrs. Layfield was preceded in death by her husband, W.E. Layfield Sr. Survivors include two daughters, Linda Edwards of Raleigh, N.C., and Sharon Keller of Houston, Texas; one son, W.E. Layfield Jr., of Panama City; four grandchildren: Malinda Edwards Vanegas, William Marion Edwards Sr., John Wesley Edwards and Myra Elizabeth Layfield; two great-grandchildren, Taylor Edwards Vanegas and William Marion Edwards Jr.; and several nieces and nephews. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Luke United Methodist Church, 1104 2nd Ave., Columbus, GA 31901, or the Magnolia Manor Nursing Home, Americus, Ga.

Alex Morris Pleas Sr., 79, of Chipley died Saturday, Sept. 16, 2000. Mr. Pleas was a native of Chipley and resided there most of his life. He was a former businessman and farmer. The service will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2000, at the First Baptist Church of Chipley, with the Rev. Adolph Phares officiating. Internment will follow in the Glenwood Cemetery. He was the son of the late Ernest and Lila Pleas. Mr. Pleas was preceded in death by three brothers: Ernest Pleas Jr., Jerry Pleas and Robert Pleas; two sisters, Ernestine Pleas and Gloria Nell Odom. He is survived by one sister, Annie Ruth Lane of Colorado Springs, Colo.; three daughters: Betty and husband John Taylor of Panama City, Jean and husband Dick Grant of Richmond Hill, Ga., and Sue and husband Jim Porlier of Dothan, Ala.; one son, Alex Morris Pleas Jr. of Chipley; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Carter, Brian Grant, Dick Grant, Scott Grant, Alex Pleas III and Eugene Pleas. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 18, 2000, at the Brown Funeral Home in Chipley.
