Retired Sgt. Major Johnnie McNeal Sr., 50, of Seattle, Wash., formerly of Panama City, passed away peacefully in his Washington state home Sunday, Oct. 1, 2000. Funeral services for Retired Sgt. Major Johnnie McNeil Sr. will be held at 3 p.m. today, Oct. 7, at St. Johns Baptist Church, with the Rev. Rufus L. Wood Jr., officiating. Interment will follow in Hillside Cemetery. Public visitation today at 9 a.m. at the funeral home. The body will lie in state at the church one hour before the funeral. Full military honors will be accorded by Fort Rucker Honor Guard. The family will receive friends at the home of his brother and sister-in-law, Bobby and Pequieta White, 713 Satsuma Ave.

ANTHONY J. PAGANO
Mr. Anthony J. Pagano, age 56, of 2914 Laurie Ave., Panama City Beach, Fla., died Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2000, at a local nursing facility. He had been a resident of the area for seven years, coming here from Atlanta, Ga. Mr. Pagano served his country in the U.S. Air Force and was Methodist by faith. He was a chef and loved cooking. Mr. Pagano is survived by his mother, Cona Hipps of Panama City Beach; stepfather, Tom Hipps of Panama City Beach; three sons, Paul Newton, Patrick Pagano, and Grant Pagano, all of Atlanta, Ga.; a brother, Charles Pagano of Los Angeles, Calif.; a sister, Jo Ann Pagano of Panama City; and three grandchildren. Memorial Services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 7, at Striffler-Hamby Funeral Home Chapel in Columbus, Ga., with the Rev. Emory Gilbert officiating.

EARLINE LINDSEY PHILIPPI
Earline Lindsey Philippi of Tupper Lake, N.Y., formerly of Panama City, died Oct. 2, 2000. Survivors include her mother, Talitha Lindsey; son, Victor Philippi and wife Donna of Tupper Lake, N.Y.; daughters, Geanne Raker and husband Roy of Utica, N.Y., Joan Fitzgerald and husband Fitz of Afton, N.Y.; sister, Kathryn Quickel of Panama City; a brother, Lt. Col. (retired) Ira H. Lindsey Jr. and wife Catherine of Las Vegas, Nev.; eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren. Memorial service will be held today, Saturday, Oct. 7, in Tupper Lake, N.Y.

Mr. Emanuel G. Suggs, age 92, of Clarksville, died Friday at Blountstown Health and Rehab Center. Mr. Suggs was a native and lifelong resident of Calhoun County and was a retired farmer and car salesman. He was a member of Travelers Rest Freewill Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Gladys Suggs of Clarksville; one son, Jimmy Suggs of Clarksville; one daughter, Patricia Peddie of Gainesville; four grandchildren: Patty Melvin of Marianna, Sue Leonard of Blountstown, Carmell Knight of Atlanta, Brian Peddie of Miami; and nine great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. CDT at Travelers Rest Freewill Baptist Church with the Rev. John Marvin Nichols and the Rev. Kenneth Jackson officiating. Interment will follow in Travelers Rest Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family desires contributions to Travelers Rest Freewill Baptist Church or Cemetery Fund. The family will receive friends Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. CDT at Adams Funeral Home in Bountstown.

EDGAR 'DUTCH' TIEMANN
Edgar "Dutch" Tiemann, 81, of Panama City, passed away Thursday, Oct. 5, 2000, in a local hospital. Mr. Tiemann was a native of Evansville, Ind., and had moved to Panama City from Naples, Fla., in 1980. He was a veteran of World War II, a retired Park Ranger with the State of Florida, Division of Forestry and a member of Northside Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Faye Scarbrough Tiemann of Panama City; four stepsons: Terry Cates and his wife Gwen of Elliott City, Md., Claude Scarbrough and his wife Debbie of Maryville, Tenn., Gene Scarbrough and his wife Jennie of Panama City and Charles Scarbrough of Charlotte, N.C.; a stepdaughter, Barbara Grimes of Brunswick, Ga.; 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Mr. Tiemann's family will hold a Celebration of Life Service at a later date.

PEARINE 'PERRI' EVANS CURTIS
Pearine "Perri" Evans Curtis, 79, of Lynn Haven, died Friday, Oct. 6, 2000, in a local nursing home. She had been a resident of Bay County since 1973 moving here from California. She was a retired deli operator for Pantry Pride. She is survived by her husband, Samuel E. Curtis of Lynn Haven; a sister, Ann Vines of Jasper, Ala.; a special niece, Debbie Douglas of Baltimore, Md.; and numerous other nieces. Memorialization will be by cremation. Those desiring to may make a contribution to the Bay County Council on Aging in memory of Perri Curtis.

LESTER EUGENE McFARREN
Lester Eugene McFarren, 61, of Southport, died Thursday evening, Oct. 5, 2000, in a local hospital. Mr. McFarren was a native of Wabash, Ind., but had resided in Southport for several years. Survivors include two daughters, Leslie McFarren and Wanona Roderick, and a sister, Linda Marley. Memorial service will be held at a later date.

LEROY RUDD
Mr. Leroy Rudd, 92, of 3616 E. 13th Court, Panama City, passed away Friday, Oct. 6, 2000, at his home. Mr. Rudd had been a resident of Bay County since 1926 coming here from Alford, and attended Springfield Community Church. Mr. Rudd is survived by six daughters: Eleana Raffield and Rena Mae Walker both of Springfield, Allie Mae Dyer of Bayou George, Frances W. Holley, and Catherine Nixon both of Greenhead, and Gail Gainer of Springfield; four sons: Lester B. Rudd of Youngstown, James W. Rudd of Panama City, James H. Rudd of Southport, and Curtis Rudd of Bayou George; 32 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. Mr. Rudd was preceded in death by two sons, Lester and Jackie Rudd. Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 9, 2000, at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. J.W. Hunt and the Rev. Bob Dyer officiating. Interment will follow at the Forest Lawn Cemetery. Asked to serve as active pallbearers are Mr. Rudd's grandsons. WILLIAM A. SABATO
Mr. William A. Sabato, 71, of 7800 Magnolia Beach Road, formerly of Paradise Lakes in Vernon, passed away Friday, Oct. 6, 2000, in a local hospital of lung cancer. Mr. Sabato had been a resident of Bay County since 1966 coming here from Albany, Ga. Mr. Sabato was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, and served his country in the U.S. Navy aboard the submarine USS Cobbler, worked at the Department of Veterans Affairs Hospital in Elsmere, Del., worked on Guam at Anderson air base and Turner Air Force base in Albany, Ga., and was head of hospital maintenance at Tyndall Air Force base at the time of his retirement. Mr. Sabato is survived by his wife of 50 years, Louise Sabato of Panama City Beach; a daughter, Christina Dyer of Panama City; two grandchildren, Christie Dyer and William Dyer both of Panama City; four sisters, Edith Carroll of Vidalia, Ga., Cathy Cronin of Long Meadow, Mass., Betty Bovee of Pleasantville, N.Y., and Faith Raimer of Thousand Oaks, Calif.; four brothers, LeRoy Raimer of Plant City, Mark Raimer of New Ashford, Mass., Paul Raimer of Bridgewater, Mass., and Thomas Sabato of Springfield, Mass.; a stepmother, Alice Sabato of Springfield, Mass. Graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2000, at the Forest Lawn Memorial Cemetery, with the Rev. Edward Meyer officiating, with interment following. Asked to serve as active pallbearers are, Bill Stephens, Jerry Krueger, John Hamre, George Pedley, Donald Gaddie, and Ron Cloutier. Honorary pall bearers will be Jordan Grant, L.C. McNeil, John Block, Don Anderson, Jerry Butts, Ray Gilbert, Russell Holly, Steve Medlin, Duwayne Sundet, John Hagan, Arthur Tice, Walton Cheshire, and all the friends at Magnolia Beach R.V. Park. EDWIN WILSON 'CAPTAIN ED' MAULDIN
Mr. Edwin Wilson "Captain Ed" Mauldin passed away Saturday, Oct. 7, 2000, at his home at the age of 81 surrounded by his family. He was born in Vernon, Fla., and spent all of his life in the Panama City area. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps starting in 1937. Captain Ed was known as the best charter boat captain on the Gulf Coast, and his boat, the Seafoam, unloaded record catches at Captain Anderson's for 34 years. Mr. Mauldin is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Nancy Raffield Mauldin of Panama City; two daughters, Mary Ann Coxe of Gainesville and Linda Scott and her husband, Dr. Robert Scott, of Panama City; two sisters, Jimmie Hardy of Overstreet, Fla., and Carrie Mae Hooten of Atlanta, Ga.; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. His daughter, Faye Blackburn, and his son, Jamie Mauldin, preceded him in death. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2000, at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ron Gallagher officiating. Entombment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Garden Cemetery. Asked to serve as active pallbearers are: Andy Powell, Kenneth Holman, Arnie Zimmerman, Ed Daniels, Virgil Mauldin, Jerry Raffield, Billy Hawk and Ned Melvin. WALLACE WHITFORD ROWE
Mr. Wallace Whitford Rowe, 76, of 1105 Wilmont Ave. in Panama City, passed away Saturday, Oct. 7, 2000, in a local hospital. Mr. Rowe had been a resident of Bay County since 1964. He was a member of the St. Andrew United Methodist Church, the St. Andrews Civic Club, and served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Mr. Rowe is survived by his wife, Irma Rowe of Panama City; a stepson, Ray Hall of Bay County; a brother, Wilson Rowe of Spanish Fort, Ala.; and a sister, Frances Ashley of Lake Village, Ark. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2000, at Forest Lawn Memorial Cemetery with the Rev. Edward Britton officiating. Interment will follow. The family will receive friends at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home from 1 to 2 p.m.
