Mrs. Gertie Mae Gibbons, 89, of 5801 Thomas Drive, Unit 1326, Panama City Beach, died Friday, Oct. 13, in a local nursing home. Born in Clanton, Ala., she moved to Bay County 31 years ago from Thorsby, Ala. Mrs. Gibbons was a homemaker and a member of Thorsby Baptist Church in Thorsby, Ala. She loved the beach and enjoyed gardening and meeting people while walking up and down the beaches. Mrs. Gibbons is preceded in death by her husband, Coy Gibbons. She is survived by one son, Farrell O. Gibbons Sr. and wife, Earline of Panama City Beach; two grandchildren, Farrell O. "Neil" Gibbons Jr and wife, Cheryl of Panama City Beach and Mark T. Gibbons and wife, Deborah of Lynn Haven and Alexandria, Va.; and three great-grandchildren, Logan Gibbons, Emily Anne Gibbons and Caroline Gibbons. Funeral services for Mrs. Gibbons will be conducted Monday, Oct. 16, at 11 a.m. in Southerland Family Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Sunday, Oct. 15, from 3 to 5 p.m. at the funeral home.

WOODROW GRAY
Mr. Woodrow Gray, 61, of 500 Power Ave., Lot-3, died Oct. 4, 2000, in a local hospital. Funeral services for Mr. Gray will be held Saturday, Oct. 14, 2000, at 1 p.m. in First Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Henry Harper, officiating. Interment to follow in Hillside Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends at 906 Massalina Drive.

SAMMIE HELMUTH
Mr. Sammie Helmuth, age 69, of 1300 Calhoun Ave., Panama City, Fla., died Friday, Oct. 13, 2000, at a local hospital. Mr. Helmuth had been a resident of the area since 1960, coming here from Claxton, Ga. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force for 20 years. During his service Mr. Helmuth was stationed in Heidelberg, Germany, Vietnam, Warner Robins A.F.B., Ga., Tyndall A.F.B., and The Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo. He owned and operated the S & M Vending Company and was a longtime friend and employee of the Hilton Family. He is survived by sons, William S. Helmuth and his wife Connie of Mississippi, John P. Helmuth of Panama City, Michael D. Helmuth of Phoenix, Ariz.; daughters, Susan Helmuth Land and her husband Bill of Panama City Beach, Mitzie Helmuth Moore and her husband Tony of Lynn Haven, Tami Helmuth Duncan and her husband Mark of Panama City Beach; a brother, DeLoach Helmuth of Bartow, Fla.; sisters, Ida Frances Anderson of Claxton, Ga., Lyndal Anderson of Hinesville, Ga.; and 10 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Maria in 1989. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 16, 2000, at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Donald Price and the Rev. John Manauto officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Cemetery. The following gentleman have been asked to serve as active pallbearers: Katsuhiko Kobayashi, Nelson Matos, Eddie Taylor, Dan Bartollini, Fred Becker and Dan Hollingshead. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 15.

CLARENCE G. BALL
Lt. Col. Clarence G. Ball, retired U.S. Air Force, 92, of 312 LeGrande, Panama City Beach, died Saturday Oct. 14, 2000 in his home. He had been a resident of Bay County for 27 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Panama City Beach and the Masonic Lodge. He served in the Air Force for 29 years, serving in World War II in England and the Korean War. His wife, Julia Lee Murray Ball, preceded him in death. He is survived by two daughters, Marilyn Aymar and her husband Bob of Darien, Conn., Suzanne Taylor and her husband, Prentice, of Valdosta, Ga.; a son, Jack Ball and his wife Cindy of Lynn Haven; 8 grandchildren, Donnie K. Aymar, Douglas S. Aymar, David B. Aymar, Dixon A. Taylor, Jonathan A. Taylor, Blake A. Taylor, Riley M. Ball, and Graham H. Ball. Graveside services will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Those desiring to may make a contribution to the Hospice of South Georgia, 205 Woodrow Wilson Drive, Valdosta, Georgia, 31602 in memory of Lt. Col. Clarence G. Ball.

JON MICHAEL DANDIS
Jon Michael Dandis, 49, of 1001 Cornell Drive, died Friday, Oct. 13, 2000 in his home. He worked in the maintenance department for a college. He is member of First Baptist Church of Panama City and was in the Army National Guard during Vietnam. He is survived by his parents, Alex J. and Judith (Judy) Dandis; son, Jason Dandis; sister, Denise Miller and her husband Joel; and granddaughter, Jade Dandis, all of Panama City; grandmother, Lila Richards of Wetumpka, Ala.; three nieces, Shelli Thrasher, Carrie Miller, Lydia Miller all of Panama City; two aunts, Charlotte Thrash of Wetumpka, Helen Luna of Pensacola; two uncles, Mack Richards of Panama City Beach and Sam Dandis of Montgomery, Ala. Funeral services will be held Monday at 1 p.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bruce Raley officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from noon until 1 p.m. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Mike Nixon, Mike Roebuck, Eldredge Thrash, Henry Holland, Eddie Pittman and Gordon Richards.

WILLIAM G. 'BILL' BENNETT JR.
William G. "Bill" Bennett Jr. was born Oct. 28, 1923 in Houston, Texas and passed away Oct. 11, 2000 in Panama City. He is preceded in death by his wife, Nancy K. Bennett. He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and John Chadbourne; a son, William G. Bennett, III; two grandchildren, Julie and John Chadbourne; and his first wife, Caro Lee Bradshaw. Bill served as a Navy pilot during World War II and the Korean Conflict and maintained his license as a pilot until his death. He retired to Panama City in 1990. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 16, 2000 at Restland Memorial Park.

DELORES ANN ZWICKEL
Mrs. Delores Ann Zwickel, 68 of Panama City, died Oct. 13, 2000 at a local hospital. She was a native of Cogswell, N.D., and had lived in Panama City for 41 years. Mrs. Zwickel was an active member of the Panama City Garden Club, Mockingbird Circle, and was a past member of the Panama City Woman's Club. She was predeceased by her father, Earl Reddin and her daughter, Peggy Scott. Survivors include her husband of 51 years, Waldo Zwickel of Panama City; one son, Michael W. Zwickel of Indianapolis, Ind.; one daughter: Susan M. Green of Pensacola; her mother, Kathryn Reddin of Cogswell, N.D.; two sisters, Elisabeth Smith of Cogswell, N.D., and Patricia Ferguson of Denver, Colo.; four grandchildren, Tyler Scott, Kendall Zwickel, Cory Zwickel and Kirby Zwickel. Funeral Services will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, Oct. 16, 2000, from the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Benjamin Parker officiating. Entombment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 15, 2000. BOBBY G. HAGANS
Mr. Bobby G. Hagans, 57, of Wewahitchka passed away Sunday morning, Oct. 15, 2000, at his home. Born in Esto, Fla., he had been a resident of Wewahitchka for the past 20 years. Mr. Hagans served in the U.S. Navy and had worked as a carpet layer. Survivors include his brother and sisters: Willie McIntyre, Lillie Demont, Sammie G. Hagans, all of Wewahitchka, Pearl Sapp of Callaway and Wynell Tate of Sneads; a sister-in-law, Gene Hagans and family of Esto; and many other relatives. The graveside funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. CST today, Oct. 16, 2000, in Jehu Cemetery, conducted by the Rev. Claude McGill. Internment will follow. He will lie in state at the New Harvest Worship Center beginning at 1 p.m. today.
