MARILYN SKINNER SILCOX
Marilyn Skinner Silcox, 64, of 326 Maine Ave., Panama City, Fla., died Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2000, in her home. She had been a resident of Panama City since 1956. She was the retired deputy director for the Office of Information at Tyndall AFB. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and the Christian Woman's Club. She was the March of Dimes Telethon organizer for many years. She was a member and past president of the Panama City Jaycette's. She was a member of Junior Woman's Club where she was named outstanding woman of the year. She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Doris Skinner; and a brother, Walter Skinner. She is survived by her husband, J.W. Silcox Jr., of Panama City; four children: Cindy Parrish and husband, Jeff of Winter Garden, Fla., Bill Silcox and wife, Mary Jane of Panama City, Becca Smith and husband, Brad of Waterville, Minn., Charlie Silcox and wife, Paula of Tallahassee, Fla.; brother, Odell Skinner and wife, Martha of Archer, Fla.; three sisters-in-law: Mary Skinner of Mansville, Texas, Johnnie Turpin of Panama City, Mary Grace Lippe and husband, Ed of Austin, Texas; eight grandchildren: John Davis Parrish, Jill Silcox, Katy Silcox, Marty Smith, Nick Smith, Maggie Smith, Sarah Beneke, and Chas Silcox. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. in Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Floyd Wright officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. today. Those desiring to may make a contribution to the Trinity United Methodist Church, 2322 E. 3rd St., Panama City, FL 32401, Hospice of Northwest Florida, 2589 Jenks Ave., Panama City, FL 32405 or the charity of your choice in memory of Marilyn Silcox.

Funeral services for the Rev. Robert William Tauscher Sr., 76, who died Saturday, Oct. 21, 2000, at Bay Medical Center, will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m., at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church with the Rev. Gary E. Hill officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 5 to 8 p.m. and on Friday from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Those desiring to may make a contribution to the Memorial Fund of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church or the Grace Lutheran Church Building Fund of Bonifay, Fla., in memory of the Rev. PEARL I. ALEXANDER
Mrs. Pearl I. Alexander, 81, of Wewahitchka, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2000, in Bay Medical Center following a brief illness. She was a native and lifelong resident of Wewahitchka, and a member of Honeyville United Methodist Church. She was a good mother and grandmother and loved her family and friends. She is survived by her son, Oscar Redd and wife Teresa of Wewahitchka; two grandchildren, Gloria Wood and husband Tommy, and David Redd and wife Patty, all of Wewahitchka; two great-great grandchildren, Lacey and Buddy Wood of Wewahitchka; one sister, Roxie Handley of Los Angeles, Calif.; and a host of nieces and nephews. She will lie in state at Comforter Funeral Home, Wewahitchka Branch Chapel from 6 to 8 p.m. CT today, Oct. 27. The funeral services will be held at First United Methodist Church in Honeyville at 11 a.m. CT, Saturday, Oct. 28, conducted by the Rev. Gus Howerton and the Rev. David Taunton. Interment will follow in the family plot on Roberts Cemetery.

ROSA LEE ARMSTEAD
Pastor Rosa Lee Armstead, 64, of 1234 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. died Oct. 21, 2000, local hospital. She was a native of Qunicy, Fla., and a resident of Panama City since 1942. She was educated by the Bay County school system and attended nursing school. In 1982 she became a member of the Church of Christ Written in Heaven. In 1991 she was ordained as a Pastor and was anointed to do the work of the Lord. She was called upon to establish a house of worship. Her first place of worship was located at 1239 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. known as Trinity Temple. The new Trinity Temple Church is now located at 540 Elm Ave., which was dedicated on Nov. 22, 1998. Her legacy is that the church will continue to prosper and carry on the Lord's work. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Deacon David Armstead of Panama City; six children: Linda Clayton (Javan) of Orlando, Delia Jones (Keith) of Dallas, Texas, Fredrick Armstead (Kim), David Armstead Jr., Brenda Rose (Chris) and Yolanda Armstead all of Panama City; 11 grandchildren, Keisha Jones, Maurice Arm- stead, Demario Armstead, Demetria Armstead, Monica Clayton, Jasmine Clayton, Shari Rose, Tina Rose, Denecia Gullford, Danielle Gullford and Kamilah Armstead; three sisters, Corrine Jackson, Louise Hardy (Elder James) and Dorothy Williams (Presiding Elder Walter) all of Panama City; three brothers, Deacon John Alexander (Karetta) of Tampa, Woodrow Alexander (Suzie) and Bishop Roosevelt Alexander (Earnestine) both of Panama City; two sisters-in-law Thelma Wills (James) and Delia Dupoint both of Quincy; three brothers-in-law: Willie Spencer Armstead of Fort Lauderdale, Henry Armstead III (Vivian) of Archer, and Jesse Williams Armstead (Cassandra) of Midway; aunt-in-law, Ruth Cox of Ouincy, uncle-in-law, Richard Armstead of Quincy; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives, church members, family and friends. Funeral services for Pastor Armstead will be held Saturday, Oct. 28, at noon in Trinity Temple Church with Bishop Nathaniel Pollock officiating. Interment to follow in Hillside Cemetery. A wake service will be held this evening from 5 to 8 p.m. at the church and the body will lie in state at the church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until service time. The family will receive relatives and friends at 1234 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.

PEARLIE DAVIS BLACK
Funeral services for Mrs. Pearlie Davis Black, 101, a native of Caryville, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28, at St. Mary A.M.E. Church Caryville, Fla., with the Rev. Youngblood Potter officiating. Interment will follow in St. Mary Cemetery with the Cooper Funeral Home of Chipley, directing. The remains will lie in state at the church from 12 Noon Saturday until time for the services at 1 p.m. Mrs. Black died Oct. 22 in Mount Dora, Fla. Survivors include three sisters and a brother, Odessa Pierce and Clem Davis both of Detroit, Mich., Manatha Brooks of Jacksonville, Fla., and Lois Myrick of Panama City; several nieces including Minnie Lee Engrams with whom she resided and many other relatives and friends.

WAYLAND TOOKEY CLARK
Mr. Wayland Tookey "Speedy" Clark died at this home in Sunnyside, Fla., on Oct. 25, 2000, after a long illness. This good man - a devoted husband, father, and grandfather - lived his life by the Golden Rule and loved his family and friends, who love him equally in return. Mr. Clark was born in Graceville, Fla., and during his lifetime lived in Columbus, Ga.; Clio, Ala.; and Panama City Beach, Fla., making his living as a railroad switchman, printer, gas station operator, mechanic, handyman extraordinaire, and retiring with the love of his life as a contented beach bum. He was a member of Mr. Hermon Masonic Lodge of Columbus, Ga., for over forty years. He is survived by his wife Jeanette, whom he loved completely; his daughters and sons-in-law: Elaine and Marvin Bassett, Melissa and Pat Faucheux, Patty and Juhan Mixon, Kay and Jim Whittemore, and Nan Summerall; his grandchilren: Mellie and Katie Bassett, Chad, Abbey, Monique, and Patrick Faucheux, Shawn Middleton, Corinne Mixon, Jason, Chris and Kelly Whittemore, and Chase and Eric Summerall; his sister, Retha Powell; his brother and sister-in-law, Wendell R. and Christine Clark; many nieces and nephews, and a host of loving friends. Visitation will be held today, Oct. 27, at Southerland Funeral Home in Panama City from 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 28, at Gulf View United Methodist Church in Panama City, with interment at Kent-Forest Lawn Cemetery in Panama City. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Northwest Florida.

Mrs. Ardie Mae Crews, age 85, of Graceville, Fla., passed away Wednesday evening, Oct. 25, 2000, in Washington County Convalescent Center of Chipley. She was the eldest daughter of the late Jessie and Carrie Wynn Cotton and the widower of the late Frank Crews. A member of St. Paul A.M.E. Church and the Ladies Aid Society of Campbellton, Fla. Survivors include the children; Johnnie Lee (Willie Ann) Crews of Chipley, Eugune (Yvonne) Crews of Philadelphia, Pa., and Annie Lou (Benjamin) Pittman of Tampa, Fla.; daughter-in-law, Nadine Crews of Philadelphia; a sister, Rena Cox of Panama City; In-laws, John Staten of Campbellton and Kate Cotton of Quincy; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and other relatives. Funeral services for Mrs. Ardie Crews will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 29, at St. Paul A.M.E. Church Campbellton with the Rev. D. Myrick and the Rev. Richard Walker officiating. Interment will follow in Saint Paul Cemetery with Cooper Funeral Home of Chipley directing. Mrs. Dorris Best Downs, age 81, of 404 S. Palo Alto Ave., Panama City, Fla., passed away Thursday, Oct. 26, 2000, at her home after a brief illness. She had been a resident of the area for 45 years, coming here from Hartford, Conn. Mrs. Downs was a homemaker and a loving mother and will be missed by all of her friends. She is survived by her sons, Terry Downs and his wife Kathryn of South Florida and William W. Downs and his wife Debra of Panama City Beach, Fla.; a daughter, Lynda Wilson and her husband Mike of Fountain, Fla.; grandchildren: Megan Downs Rogers, Cassie Wilson Goodwin, Mallori Downs, and Michael Wilson, II; and stepgrandchildren: John Wilson, Eric Downs, and Cory Downs. Graveside funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 28, at Evergreen Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Ron L'Huillier officiating. Interment will follow. Michael "Del" Delorfano, age 51, of Panama City Beach, died Wednesday, Oct. 25, in a local nursing home. He was a native of White Plains, N.Y., and had been living in Bay County for several years. Memorialization will be by cremation.

NORA BELL DIXON
Mrs. Nora Bell Dixon, 84, of 208 Kilbourn Ave., Springfield, died Monday, Oct. 23, 2000, in Bay Medical Center. Sister Nora Bell Dixon, the daughter of the late Jackson and Nonie Walton, was born Aug. 28, 1916, in Tarberton, Ga., and attended the Alabama School System. She joined Oak Grove Baptist Church in Elba, Ala., at an early age and late in life she met and married the late Deacon Rufus Dixon Jr. In 1942 they moved to Panama City where she became a faithful member of First Mt. Moriah Baptist Church and served as a member of the senior choir and a member of Deaconess Board as long as her health permitted. She leaves to cherish her memory a loving sister, Lizzie Rogers of Opp, Ala.; two devoted nieces, Martha Blackwell of Opp and Gloria Campbell of Clearwater, Fla.; two devoted nephews, Fred Rogers of Dayton, Ohio and Calvin Dixon Jr. of Panama City. Survivors are her nieces: Betty Walton, Lizzie Walton, both of Orlando, Mildred Brown of Enterprise, Mary Mullins of Las Vegas; nephews: James Rogers of Camden, N.J., Peter Rogers of Dillard, Ga., William E. Walton of Panama City, John Rogers of Dayton, Ohio, Robert Rogers of Los Angeles, Calif., James A. Walton of Panama City, Clarence Walton Jr. of Orlando; brothers-in-law, Frazier White of Panama City, Calvin Dixon Sr. of Buffalo, N.Y., sister-in-law, Pinkie Pryor of Orlando; four brothers: J.C. Walton, Clarence Walton, Willie Walton and James Walton preceded her in death; and a very dear and devoted neighbor and friend, Willie Mae Fryer and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services for Mrs. Dixon will be held Saturday, Oct. 28, at 2 p.m. in First Moriah Baptist Church with the Rev. Henry Harper officiating. Interment will follow in Hillside Cemetery. Public visitation will begin this afternoon at the funeral home from 1 to 8 p.m. The remains will lie in state one hour prior to services at the church.
