Mrs. Virgie Lee Holmes Rogers, 87, of 1508 East 9th Court, passed away Monday, Oct. 31, 2000, at her residence. Funeral services for Mrs. Rogers will be held today, Nov. 11, at 2 p.m., at St. John Baptist Church with the Rev. Woodrow Wilson officiating. Interment will follow in Hillside Cemetery. The body will lie in state at the church for one hour before the funeral.

EVA K. BIERCE
Funeral services for Mrs. Eva K. Bierce, 80, of Panama City, who passed away Friday, Nov. 10, 2000 at Bay Medical Center, will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 12, 2000 at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with Apostle F. Nolan Ball and Pastor Todd Murner officiating, with interment following at the Evergreen Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Flowers will be accepted, or donations in Mrs. Bierce's name may be made to The Rock Church.

MARY ELIZABETH COOK
A memorial service for Mary Elizabeth Cook will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2000 at St. Stephens Episcopal Church in Sherman, Texas. The Rev. James Sproat of the church will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of Dannel Funeral Home. Mrs. Cook was born in Apalachicola, Fla., on April 25, 1910, the daughter of John Wesley Maddox and Mariah Clementine Simms Maddox. She studied nursing at St. Lukes Hospital in Jacksonville, Fla. At the onset of World War II, she became a civilian employee for the United States Army. Then, in the early 1950s, she turned her energy to the Happiness House, a rehabilitation center for children with special needs. At Happiness House, in Bradenton, Fla., she served in every capacity from bus driver to board member. Two years ago, Mary Elizabeth moved to Sherman to be with her sister, Mrs. Clara Uranson and her niece, Betsy Owens. Mary Elizabeth is survived by a sister, Clara Maddox Uranson of Sherman; nine nieces and nephews; 13 great nieces and nephews; and five great-great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; three siblings, John Wesley Maddox, William Randall Maddox and Maxwell Simms Maddox; two husbands, Major Marshall Dillon Meadows and Lt. Col. Victor Joseph Cook. Mary Elizabeth had abounding love for her family. In her nine nieces and nephews she promoted their interest in gardens, books and Southern history. Immediately following the memorial service on Tuesday at St. Stephens, the family will receive visitors in the parish hall. If desired, memorials may be made to the National Alzehimer's Disease and Related Diseases Assoc. Inc., 919 N. Michigan Ave., Chicago, Ill., 60611-1676.

Funeral services for Mrs. Bertha L. Hopkins, 84, of Lynn Haven, will be conducted on Monday, Nov. 13, 2000 at 11 a.m. in the Southerland Family Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bruce Raley officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today, Nov. 12, 2000 from 3 until 5 p.m.

Mr. Jimmy Lee Hunter, 52, of 130 Williams Ave., Wewahitchka, died Saturday, Nov. 4, 2000 at his home. He was a life-long native of Wewahitchka. Graveside services for Mr. Hunter will be held Sunday, Nov. 12, 2000, at 1 p.m. in the Williamsburg Cemetery. Interment will follow.

ANETA KNOX
Mrs. Aneta Knox, 63, of 902 E. 10the Street, died Monday Nov. 6 in the Bay Medical Center. She was a life-long native of Panama City. She was born to the late Rosa March. Her foster parents were the late Irene and Anthony Patterson, Sr. She received the Holy Ghost at an early age when she joined Neal Temple First Born Church of the Living God in Panama City. She later joined Greater Bethel. She met and married the late Wilbert Knox in 1954 and moved to New Jersey where she joined Grace Cathedral First Born Church where Elder Jerome S. Wilcox is the pastor. She leaves to cherish her memory, one godson, Bobby (Janis) Watkins of Pensacola; three goddaughters, Doretha (James) Lovett of Arlington, Ga., Rose Mary (James) Houghbrook of St. Petersburg, and Gladys Harris of Panama City; 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lorene Watkins and Rebecca Hester. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral services for Mrs. Knox will be held Monday, Nov. 13, 2000 at 11 a.m. in the Battle Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Bobby S. Watkins, officiating. Interment will follow in the Hillside Cemetery. Public visitation will begin Sunday at the funeral home from 1 until 8 p.m. The family will receive friends at 902 E. 10th Street.

RALPH K. DAUPHIN
Ralph K. Dauphin, 59, of Youngstown, passed away Saturday, Nov. 11, 2000, at his residence. He was a native of Bonifay, and lived in Panama City for 45 years. He was a pipefitter for Arizona Chemical Co. and was a member of the International Chemical Workers Union No. 328. Mr. Dauphin was an avid gardener, and enjoyed growing vegetables for his relatives and friends. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Judy A. Dauphin of Youngstown; two sons, Darrell E. Dauphin and wife Cheri of Springfield, and Kenneth L. Dauphin and wife Linda of Parker; three brothers, Curtis Dauphin and wife Virginia of Pell City, Ala., Ned Dauphin and wife Debra of Springfield, and Denver Dauphin and wife Annette of Youngstown; a brother-in-law, Oscar A. White of Panama City; five grandchildren, Justin Dauphin, Danielle Dauphin, Eric Dauphin, Ryan Dauphin and Rickey Dauphin; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Oran and Clara Dauphin and two sisters, Cozetta Cunningham and Bertie Lou White. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, Nov. 13, 2000 at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Phil Kirkland officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Cemetery. Asked to serve as pallbearers are: Kenny Davis, Ronnie Clanton, Abbot White, Prichard Cutshaw, Burt Gwaltney, and Phil Davis. His co-workers from Arizona Chemical Co. will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home, Sunday, from 6 to 8 p.m.

Funeral services for Mrs. Bertha L. ROSETTA NIXON
Rosetta Nixon, 88, passed away Saturday, Nov. 11, 2000, at Northwest Florida Community Hospital in Chipley. She was a lifelong resident of Chipley. She was of the Assembly of God Faith and a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Chipley. She was born April 4, 1912, to the late Cliff and Cora Riley in Washington County, Fla. Funeral services will be Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2000, at 10 a.m. at the First Assembly of God Church in Chipley with the Rev. Dallas Pettis and the Rev. Ted Satterfield officiating. Burial will follow in Rock Hill Cemetery with Brown Funeral Home of Chipley directing. Nixon was preceded in death by her husband Woodrow Nixon and her son Milford Nixon. Survivors are two sons, Gilford Nixon of Chicago, Ill., and Millard Nixon of Chipley; four daughters: Wilma Richardson of Southport, Eleanor West of Chipley, Robbie Duren of Chipley and Gwen Gainer of Panama City; two sisters, Gladys Jackson of Alford, Fla., and Esther Sapp of Cottondale; 19 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

Mr. Harvey Lee Crafton Jr., age 36, died Nov. 11, 2000. He was a resident of Ebro, Fla. and former resident of Fayette County, Tenn. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 15, at Peebles Funeral Home Chapel in Somerville, Tenn.

JOHN M. LEE
Mr. John M. Lee, age 55, of Memphis, Tenn., died Sunday, Nov. 12, 2000, at his home. He was born in Warner Robins, Ga., and was a retired management education specialist for the U.S. Postal Service. Mr. Lee was a member of Bellevue Baptist Church and served his country in the U.S. Navy. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Linda J. Lee of Memphis, Tenn.; his mother, Mary "Tommie" Lee of Callaway, Fla.; a sister, Suzanne Gilbert of Prattville, Ala.; and two brothers, Warren R. Lee of Wittier, Calif., and Thomas Lee of Callaway, Fla. Graveside funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2000, at Forest Lawn Memorial Cemetery with the Rev. Nathan Keen officiating. Interment will follow. The family will receive friends at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home today, Nov. 14, 2000, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Donations may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Drawer 390, Panama City, FL 32402.
