Funeral services for Mrs. Myrtle Sanders, age 79, of Sanders Lane, Springfield, Fla., who died Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2000, will be held at 2 p.m. today, Dec. 1, at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bob Johnson, the Rev. Warren Wright, and the Rev. J.L. McGarrity officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens.

GEORGE EARL WEAVER
George Earl Weaver, 92, of Panama City, died Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2000, in a local hospital. He had been a resident of Panama City since 1981 moving here from Hoytville, Ohio. He was a retired farmer and former owner of Black Swamp Farms Milling Company of McComb, Ohio. He attended Life and Praise Assembly of God. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Elizabeth Baumgartner Weaver and his second wife, Irene J. Weaver. He is survived by three sons: Harold M. Weaver and his wife, Becky of Panama City, Ralph E. Weaver and his wife, Barbara, L. Eugene Weaver and his wife, Judy all of Waco, Texas; daughter, Mary Jane Freeman and her husband, Michael T. of Lynn Haven; sister, Betty Fridley and her husband, Edwin of Anna, Ohio; seven grandchildren: Suzie Welden, Rhonda Weldon, Paula Snell, David Weaver, Steven Weaver, Laura Tengler, Matt Watkins; seven great-grandchildren; eight stepgrandchildren and stepson Curtis E. Jones of Muncie, Ind. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. John Broome and the Rev. Jeff Scalf officiating. Interment will be held on Monday at 3 p.m. in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Pandora, Ohio. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 6 to 8 p.m. The family would like to thank the staffs of Council on Aging, Gulf Coast Hospital and Dr. William Flynn for the care and services given.

CAROLYN THOMPSON WILSON
Mrs. Carolyn Thompson Wilson, 84, of Savannah, died Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2000 at Memorial Medical Health University in Savannah, Ga. She was born in Columbus, Ga., and was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Savannah, Ga. She was a founding member of the Eagles, the official retirement organization of the South Georgia Conference. Long active in the United Methodist Church, she organized and taught Sunday School Classes, and was a delegate to the World Methodist Conferences in Hawaii, Dublin, Ireland, and Singapore. She was a leader in the United Methodist Women, and its antecedent missionary societies. She was a mother, homemaker, and member of the Daughters of the American Revolutlon. She is survived by her husband, The Reverend Dr. Bruce M. Wilson, Savannah, Ga.; four sons: Dr. Cecil B. Wilson, of Winter Park, Fla.; Dr. Ned M. Wilson of New York, N.Y.; Dr. Ted R. Wilson, of Panama City, Fla.; and the Rev. Dan C. Wilson of Macon, Ga.; 10 grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Hubert C. Baker Funeral Home, Hodgson Memorial Chapel. Funeral Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Grace United Methodist Church, with Interment in the Greenwich Section of Bonaventure Cemetery. HOSIE WORLD SR.
Mr. Hosie World Sr., 94, of 136 Harlem Ave., died Sunday, Nov. 26, 2000, in Bay Medical Center. Hosie World Sr. was born on Aug. 10, 1906, in Jackson County, Fla., to the union of Willie World and Annie Lee World-Works. Hosie World accepted Christ at an early age and remained active in church throughout his life. To know Hosie was to love him. He loved to be around his family and friends, and everyone knows that he loved his dog. Hosie always had words of wisdom to share and encouraged each and everyone he met. Hosie was respected and looked up to many young men. People that met him were amazed to know his actual age. God allowed him to stay on the earth for 94 years. On May 30, 1939, he was joined in holy matrimony to Arluster and remained married until death. Hosie loved Arluster very much. He had many jobs in Panama City, Fla., including working at the paper mill and ship docks. In 1947, Hosie moved his family to Milwaukee, Wis., and was employed at A.O. Smith for 30 years and retired in 1977. In 1984, Hosie and Arluster returned to Panama City to reside. Hosie World Sr. leaves a loving and devoted wife, Arluster, to cherish his memories; children, Willie A. World (deceased) (Mae), Hosie World Jr. (Gloria), Parthenia Harper (Issac Jr.), Milwaukee, Wis.; grandchildren: Williard World (Marina), Portland, Ore.; Angliess World-Holmes (Edward Sr.), Madison, Wis.; James World, Washington; Arnold World, Minn.; Vernell World (deceased); Dana World-Patterson (Giles), Krislyn World, Milwaukee; Lisa Robinson (Everet), Gurnee, Ill., Shaneita Holt (Byron) Jasmine Harper, Milwaukee; great-grandchildren, Edward Jr., Natasha, Tori, Christopher, Danzel, Arnold Jr., Jordan, Danielle, Everett IV, Alyssa; brother, Allen World (Florizell deceased); in-laws, Esther V. Tims, Robert and Ada Wright, Johnnie Wright (deceased) and Lucille Wright and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and a host of relatives and friends. Special thanks to Rozell Harper, Milwaukee; Ester V. Tims, Dorothy and Orlando World, Lorraine Alford, Charles West, Ophelia Wade, Allen World Jr., Esther Terry, and the church family. Funeral services for Mr. World will be held Saturday, Dec. 2, at 11 a.m. in Second Mt. Moriah Baptist Church with the Rev. Raymond Rogers officiating. Interment will follow in Hillside Cemetery. Public visitation will begin at the funeral home at 1 p.m. A family hour will be held this evening in Battle Funeral Home Chapel from 6 to 7 p.m. The remains will lie in state one hour prior to services at the church. CLEO DEAN LEWIS HARDESTY
Cleo Dean Lewis Hardesty, 72, of Panama City Beach, died Nov. 30, 2000. She was a beloved mother, sister, teacher and friend. The burial service will be held at Elmwood Cemetery in Birmingham at 1 p.m. on Sunday. A Celebration of Life for friends and family will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Gulf Beach Presbyterian Church, 271 Highway 79, Panama City Beach. A native of Birmingham, Ala., she had lived in Panama City, Fla. since 1965. She graduated from Phillips High School in Birmingham and received her undergraduate degree in Art Education from the University of West Florida. Until her retirement she was a teacher in the Bay County, Fla., school system, taught art at Rosenwald Junior High and commercial art at Haney Vo-Tech. She was instrumental in saving the open dunes of Bid-A-Wee Beach from commercial development in the late 1960's, and in recent years was the feature writer for the Beach News. She was also an accomplished fine artist in several media, and her work was widely shown in galleries. She is survived by her three children, Tracy Batohie of San Antonio, Texas; Cathy Walker, also of San Antonio; and Michael Lewis, of Tallahassee; her brother, Bryant Foster, of Panama City; her sister, Ruth Hammond, of Sarasota, and five grandchildren. Mr. Watson T. Strickland, age 73, of 1215 E. 24th Plaza, Panama City, Fla., died Thursday, Nov. 30, 2000, at a local nursing facility. He has been a resident of the area since 1975, coming here from Richmond, Va. Mr. Strickland was a World War II Veteran. He was an avid outdoorsman, who loved gardening and was a good cook. Mr. Strickland is survived by his wife, Dorothy Strickland of Panama City; three sons, Spencer Strickland and his wife Beth of Macon, Ga.; Victor Strickland and his wife Wendy; and Randy Blankenship and his wife Denisa, all of Panama City; a daughter, Gayle Bicknell and her husband David of Crestview, Fla.; a brother, Roy Strickland of Savannah, Ga.; a sister, Edith Wilcox of Daytona Beach, Fla.; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m., Monday, Dec. 4 at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Doug Pennington officiating. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories. MARY CATHERINE RIDDLE ALFORD
Mrs. Mary Catherine Riddle Alford, 61, of 2415 E. 16th. St., Panama City, passed away Saturday, Dec. 2, 2000. at a local hospital. She had been a resident of Bay County for 38 years, coming here from Pensacola. Mrs. Alford was a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church and choir; her faith in God was very strong. She was the secretary of the Panhandle Writer's Guild, a gifted writer of poetry, short stories and articles. Mrs. Alford's writing had been published in Guidepost and other local and area literary publications. She was in the medical transcription association. She was a wonderful wife and mother. Mrs. Alford is survived by her husband, Alvin Alford of Panama City; two daughters, Laura Catherine Alford and Lelia Ellen Alford of Panama City; two sisters, Lelia Morgan of Panama City and Margaret Lewis of Milton; two brothers, Edwin Riddle of New Hope and Glen Riddle of Wiesbaden, Germany; mother-in-law: Alma Alford of Ponce De-Leon; uncle, Reese Padgett of Panama City; numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, Dec. 4, 2000 at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bob Johnson, the Rev. Dan Padgett and the Rev Stacy Stafford officiating. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m., Monday, Dec. 4, 2000 at the Leonia Cemetery near DeFuniak Springs. Asked to serve as pallbearers are, Bill Hammond, Tony Alford, Bob Hammond, Tim Alford, David Padgett, Jimmy Riddle, Hank Morgan and Donnie Morgan. Mrs. Ora Leigh Graves, 83, of 4427 U.S. Hwy. 231, Panama City, passed away Saturday, Dec.1, 2000. She had been a resident of Panama City since 1956, moving here from Orlando. Mrs. Graves was a member of the First United Methodist Church and a member of Wesley Bible Class of First United Methodist. She loved to sew, work with her flowers and yard. Mrs. Graves is survived by her husband of 53 years, Ernest Graves of Panama City; two sons, Ernest Kenneth Graves of Panama City and Shelton Graves of Tallahassee; one brother, John Horace Millican of Perry; three nephews and one niece. Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m., Monday, Dec. 4, 2000 at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with Dr Doug Newton and the Rev. Bruce Raley officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Asked to serve as pallbearers are, Lonnie Avery, Joe Pimentel, Garland Crabtree, Robert Weekly, Jimmy Ward and Joe Anderson.
