Mrs. Louise Ann Mason, 53, of Callaway, died Friday, Dec. 15, 2000, in a local hospital. Born in Washington, D.C., she moved here in October 1989, from Tucson, Ariz. She was a secretary for Atlas Miracle Strip Moving and Storage and attended the Catholic Church. She was also a member of the Tyndall Yacht Club. Her father, Louis H. Smith II and a sister, Lori Foster, preceded her in death. Mrs. Mason is survived by her mother, Olivia Fay Clark of Dallas, Texas; husband, Bruce J. Mason of Callaway; daughter, Jenice Eubanks and her husband, Woodford C. of Panama City; three brothers: Louis Harrison Smith III of Tampa, Larry R. Smith of Dallas and Lenny M. Smith of Quinlin, Texas; two grandchildren, Slone Ann Eubanks and Justin Wayen Eubanks II, both of Panama City. A memorial service will be conducted today, Dec. 18, 2000, at 6 p.m. in the Southerland Family Funeral Home Chapel with Father Andrew Lewandowski officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Catholic Social Services Organization in memory of Mrs. Mason.

ERZA CARLTON SMITH
Master Sgt. Erza C. Smith (USAF retired,) 68, of 232 South Kimbrel Ave., passed away Saturday, Dec. 16, at his home. He was a native of Daytona Beach but had been a resident of Panama City for the past 22 years. He retired from the U.S. Air Force as a master sergeant in 1978 after several tours in Vietnam. He was a member of the Empire Bethel Lodge No. 202, Prince Hall, district deputy grand master of the 13th Masonic District. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Anna Smith; three sons: Michael C., Olie and Steven L. Smith; his mother, Mrs. Eula Zanderes; and two sisters, Dorothy Jo Moony and Rosaland Lowry. Memorial service for Mr. Smith will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 19, at 1 p.m. in the Battle Memorial Funeral Home Chapel, 1123 Martin Luther King Boulevard. Public visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. today. The family will receive friends at the home of his wife Mrs. Ann Smith, 232 S. Kimbrel Ave. Full military honors will be provided by the Tyndall Air Force Base Honor Guard.

CARLO UGOCCIONI
Mr. Carlo Ugoccioni, 77, of 2917 Treasure Circle in Panama City Beach, died Thursday, Dec. 14, 2000, at a local hospital. He had been a resident of the area since 1997, after coming her from Atlanta, Ga. Mr. Ugoccioni was self-employed as a general contractor and was an excellent builder. He was loved by his family and friends and was always ready to help his friends and family. Mr. Ugoccioni enjoyed playing golf and hardly ever cheated at it. He is survived by his daughter, Anna Marie Schuette of Doraville, Ga.; and a grandson, William Schuette of Doraville. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 18, 2000, at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with Father David T. O'Shea officiating. Entombment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Cemetery. Asked to serve as pallbearers are Mark Schuette, Bob Pillivant, Harold Anderson, Gary Barr, James Hallett and Regis Hallett.

WALTER PHILIP BRUEHWILER
Walter Philip Bruehwiler, age 52, of Panama City passed away on Dec. 17, 2000. Walter had inoperable brain tumors. Originally from Cliffside Park, N.J., he was an engineer in the USCG then a marine engineer with a small business. He gave tirelessly to the community as a Sea Scout Skipper for 17 years. He loved teaching youth. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church and the St. John's Men's Club. Loving husband of Sharon for 29 years. Son of Lillian Bruehwiler, sister of Lisa Bruehwiler. Generously loved and missed by his children, LTjg Timothy J. Bruehwiler (Hawaii), Heidi K. Bruehwiler (Tallahassee) and Kayla A. Bruehwiler. A funeral Mass will be held at St. John the Evangelist today, Dec. 19, at 11 a.m. Friends are welcome for lunch at the family's home, following the Mass. The family would prefer contributions to the following organizations in lieu of flowers. ALBERT GEORGE DAFFNER
Albert George Daffner, 69, of 3606 Biltmore Drive, Panama City Beach, died Sunday, Dec. 17, 2000, in a local hospital. He was a retired bus line operator in St. Louis, Mo. He played baseball for the St. Louis Cardinals in his younger years. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He had been a resident of Panama City Beach since 1979 moving here from St. Louis. He was a member of Woodlawn United Methodist Church. He loved fishing and spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife, Pat Daffner of Panama City Beach; son, Albert G. Daffner of Key Largo, Fla., three daughters, Melody Cowan, Pamela Bracher and her husband, Kirk, all of Panama City Beach, Mona Nolan and her husband, Mike of High Ridge, Mo.; five grandchildren, Kim Searcy, Cody Searcy, Katrina Bracher, all of Panama City Beach, Amy Nolan, Mike Nolan, both of High Ridge, Mo. Friends are invited to the family's home for visitation any time and a private memorial service will be held at a later date.

JOHN LEE HICKS SR.
John Lee Hicks Sr., 69, of Wausau, Fla., passed away Sunday, Dec. 17, 2000, at Chipley, Fla. He was a lifelong resident of Wausau. He was of the Prostestant faith. He was retired after serving 26 years in the United States Air Force. He was a Mason with membership at Wausau Masonic Lodge. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 20, at 10 a.m. at Wachob Chapel in Chipley, with the Rev. Rudolph Barnhill officiating. Interment will be at Gap Pond Cemetery with Masonic Honors at graveside with Brown Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. today, Dec. 19, at Brown Funeral Home. Survivors are his mother, Vinnie Hicks of Wausau; wife, Marie Hicks of Wausau; three sons, John Lee Hicks Jr. and wife Susan of Niceville, Jerry Hicks and wife Myra of Tallahassee, Eddy Hicks of Wausau; one brother, Charlie Hicks of Tallahassee and four grandchildren.

ANNIE FAYE LIND
Mrs. Annie Faye Lind, 72, of Panama City, Fla., died Saturday, Dec. 16, 2000, in a local hospital. Born in Sarasota, Fla., she moved here in October 2000, from Osprey, Fla. She was Baptist by faith. Her husband, Russell Herman Lind, precedes her in death. Mrs. Lind is survived by one son, Richard Brady Lind of Fountain; one daughter, Josie Louise Lind; one brother, Bill Hunter of Osprey, Fla.; four sisters, Shirley Nuterspaugh of Osprey, Fla., Carol Hunter of Nacomus, Fla., Rose Hunter of Bradenton, Fla., and Frances Davidson of Sarasota, Fla.; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, Dec. 20 at 10 a.m., Southerland Family Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Rob Woodrum officiating. Burial will be held in Osprey Baptist Church Cemetery in Sarasota, Fla., on Friday. The family will receive friends at the funeral home this evening from 6 to 8 p.m.

RUTH Y. 'FUJIKO' MARTIN
Mrs. Ruth Y. (Fujiko) Martin, 89, of Lynn Haven, Fla., died Friday, Dec. 15, 2000, at her home. Born in Honohina, Hawaii, she moved here in 1976 from Saipan. She was a registered nurse and was a nursing supervisor and administrator with the U.S. Government. She worked with the civil service in the Pacific/Pacific Rim Islands. She was also a Christian. Mrs. Martin is survived by her son, Richard A. Martin of Lynn Haven, Fla., and one sister, Yriko Omura of Pearl City, Hawaii. Memorialization will be by cremation.

EULA MAE PEADEN
Eula Mae Peaden, 85, of Lynn Haven, Fla., passed away Sunday evening, Dec. 17, 2000, at her daughter's residence. Born in Bonifay, Fla., Ms. Peaden moved here from Chipley in 1948. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Lynn Haven. Ms. Peaden was pre-deceased by her husband, Millard F. Peaden. She is survived by two sons, Thomas Peaden and wife Sue of Grand Ridge, Fla., and James Peaden of Lynn Haven; five daughters, Martha Davis of Fountain, Fla., Mary Kinsaul and husband Eddie of Lynn Haven, Charlotte Lipham and husband Eddie of Fountain, Jeanette Morris and husband Roger of Lynn Haven, and Deborah Fay and husband Tim of St. Andrews, Fla.; two brothers, Paul Belser of Pensacola, and Gene Belser of Tallahassee; one sister, Louise Blackburn of Havana, Fla.; 20 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-granchildren. Services for Ms. Peaden will be held Wednesday, Dec. 20, at 2 p.m. in Lynn Haven Chapel with the Rev. David Halstead officiating. Interment will follow in Lynn Haven Cemetery. EZRA CARLTON SMITH
Master Sgt. Ezra C. Smith (USAF retired,) 68, of 232 South Kimbrel Ave., passed away Saturday, Dec. 16, at his home. Master Sgt. Ezra Carlton Smith was born Oct. 4, 1932, in New Smyrna Beach, Fla., to the parents Joseph and Eula-Mae Smith. He graduated from Central High School in Peoria, Ill., where he lettered in football. He joined the United States Air Force in 1950. He retired from the United States Air Force in 1978 after 28 years of service. During his service he completed two tours of duty in Vietnam, Japan, Thailand and Korea. He was a member of the Most Worshipful Union Grand Lodge, Empire Bethel Masonic Lodge No. 202, Moseley Chapter No. 82 Order of Eastern Stars, H.T. Williams Holy Royal Arch Masons No. 144, C.H. Henry Consistory No. 71, and Christian Commandery of Knights Templar No. 46. He served as District Deputy Grand Master for the 13th Masonic District. He was a worshipful master of Empire Bethel Lodge No. 202. He was a past patron of Moseley Chapter No. 82 Order of Eastern Stars. He was assistant secretary for Masonic Empowerment Zone One. Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, Prayongsri Ann Smith of the home; by his mother, Mrs. Eula Zanders of New Smyrna Beach; three sons, Michael C. Smith of Maryland, Olie Smith of Thailand and Steven L. Smith of Panama City; two sisters, Elder Dorothy J. Mooney of Kansas City, Mo., and Evangelist Rosalind Lowry of Peoria, Ill. Memorial service for Mr. Smith will be held today, Dec. 19, at 1 p.m. in Second Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, 3808 E. First Court, with the Rev. Raymond Rogers, officiating. The family will receive friends at the home of his wife Mrs. Ann Smith, 232 S. Kimbrel Ave. Full military honors will be provided by the Tyndall Air Force Base Honor Guard.

BRYANT LEWIS THURMAN
Bryant Lewis Thurman, 85, of Chipley, Fla., died Dec. 18, 2000, in a local hospital. He was a native Floridian having lived in Chipley his entire life. He was of the Baptist faith and a member of First Baptist Church, Chipley, Fla. Mr. Shurman was sheriff of Washington County for two terms. Mr. Thurman was a lifetime member of Florida Sheriff's Association. He was a Mason, belonging to the Orion Masonic Lodge and also a Shriner. He was the owner and operator of Bryant Thurman Construction Co. and built many of the roads and bridges in the surrounding area. Mr. Thurman was a member of the Lower Creek Muscogee Tribe Holmes Valley Band. Mr. Thurman was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel McIlwain Thurman. Survivors are two sons, Mark and wife Debbie Rose Thurman of Chipley, Gary and Cathy (Renner) Thurman of Chipley; one daughter, Tawana and husband Dennis Davidson of Chipley; two sisters, Iris Owens of Chipley and Ethel Gist and husband Clinton of Geneva, Ala.; 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2000, at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church with Pastor Michael Orr and Phillip Rountree officiating. Burial will follow in the family plot of the Glenwood Cemetery with Brown Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:30 p.m. today, Dec. 19, at Wachob chapel. Those asking to serve as active pallbearers are Bryan Thurman, Terry Thurman, Blake Thurman, Kellon Jenkins, Jarrod Jenkins and Justin Cauley. Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Sanders Sunday School Class.

WAYMAN A. 'BULL' CAYSON
Wayman A. "Bull" Cayson, Lt. Col. US Air Force, retired, age 83, died Monday in Calhoun Liberty Hospital, Blountstown, Fla. Mr. Cayson was a native of Blountstown. He was a retired cattle rancher, an educator and an active forester. Mr. Cayson served in World War II as a navigator for the 438th Troop Carriers. His missions included the Holland Invasion and the Battle of the Bulge in Bastogne. He was called back to active service from the reserves for the Korean War and served as a lead navigator for the 307th Bomb Wing based in Okinawa, Japan. Mr. Cayson remained in the U.S. Air Force Reserves until his retirement. Mr. Cayson received his bachelor's degree from the University of Florida in business administration and his master's degree from Florida State University in education administration. He and his family were members of Blountstown First United Methodist Church. Mr. Cayson was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Gaskin Cayson. His survivors include two daughters, Jane Cayson Wolf of Panama City and Barbara Cayson Sigman of Orlando; one brother, Gerald Cayson of Blountstown and one sister, Marcia Latham of Blountstown; four grandchildren, Dr. Samuel Brian Wolf of Fenton, Mich., David Wayman Wolf of Tampa, Jeffrey Cayson Sigman of Seattle, Wash., and Scott Spencer Sigman of Orlando; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Friday, at 1 p.m. CST at Blountstown First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Danny Arnold officiating. Interment will follow in Nettle Ridge Cemetery with full military honors at the graveside. The family will receive friends Thursday from 4 to 6 p.m. CST at Adams Funeral Home in Blountstown.
