Samuel "Shoe Shine" Robinson, 90, of Graceville, Fla. entered into eternal rest on Saturday, Oct. 22 in the Campbellton Graceville Hospital. He was a native of Calhoun County and a former member of New Easter Missionary Baptist Church in Graceville.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Oct. 27 at 1 p.m. at the Rodney D. Pittman Memorial Chapel in Graceville with Rev. Price Wilson, Bishop L.C. Frederick and Brother Seaborn Miles officiating. Interment will follow in the Graceville Community Cemetery under the direction of Christian Memorial Chapel of Graceville.

Shoe Shine Sam leaves a lifetime of love and memories with two sons, Samuel L. Robinson and wife Ola Mae of Graceville, and Antonio Robinson of Chipley; four daughters, Roberta Wilson and husband Ronald of Fayetteville, N.C., Agnes Underwood, Almetta Griffin, both of Graceville, and Barbara Hancock of Tallahassee; one brother, Joe Robinson of Jacksonville; two brothers-in-law, Howard Pearce of Graceville, and Willie James Fuller of Jacksonville; 18 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Public viewing will be on Wednesday, Oct. 26 from noon-8 p.m. at the Rodney D. Pittman Memorial Chapel and from 8 a.m. until funeral time on Thursday.

Bessie Lou Hinson Fowler

Bessie Lou Hinson Fowler, 91, of Marianna, passed away on Monday, Sept. 10, 2007, at the Courtyard Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Marianna.

Mrs. Fowler was born on April 28, 1916, in Graceville, to Alex Bussey and Minnie Pearl (McGriff) Hinson.

She was of the Methodist faith and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Chipley. She was also a member of Garden Club, Woman's Club, Eastern Star, Past President of United Methodist Women and her Sunday school class. She also taught a Sunday school class for children and was very active in the church.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Roland Charles Fowler; brothers, Wallace Evert Hinson, Alex Bryant Hinson, Edwin Bussy Hinson and Charles Buford Hinson; and sisters, Addie Laura Hinson Tubell, Annie Bell Hinson Taylor, Bertha Marie Hinson Moore, Johnnie McGriff Hinson Dennis and Pear Adell (Tootsie) Hinson Manley.

Mrs. Fowler is survived by two daughters, Jean Fowler Carlton of Orange Park, and Linda Fowler Cox and husband Alan Henley of Marianna; four grandchildren, Jill Marie Carlton, Paul Christopher Carlton and wife Gemma of Virginia Beach, Va., Lt. William Charles Cox and wife Amy of New Burn, N.C., and Edwin Alan Cox, Dothan, Ala.; three great-grandchildren, Trinity Celeste Carlton, Bailey Garner, and Megan Garner; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be at 2:30 p.m., on Thursday, Sept. 13, in the First United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Pierce Moore and the Rev. Jerry May officiating.

There will not be a visitation; the family will receive friends following the service on Thursday, Sept. 13, at the First United Methodist Church in Chipley.

The family is accepting flowers, or those wishing to may donate to the First United Methodist Church, Chipley, or the Hospice of Marianna.

Rev. Robert J. Gatlin

Rev. Robert J. Gatlin, 82, went home to be with his Lord and Saviour on Friday, September 07, 2007, with his family by his side at his home in Brandon. Visitation will be at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon on Monday night, September 10, 5:00- 9:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held at River of Life Church at the Reservoir Tuesday, September 11, at 11:00 a.m., with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Lakeland Place Garden Park Cemetery on Lakeland Drive.

Robert James Gatlin was born January 2, 1925, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

He was the son of James Leon Gatlin of Windermere, Florida, and Nita Irene Tett of Cronwall, England. He had one sister Ruth Danford of Winter Garden, Florida. The family moved to Windermere before Robert's first birthday and he was raised there in central Florida. He joined the Navy in 1942, and served in the Pacific Theater of World War II. In 1945, he married Sarah Margaret Blankenship in Winter Garden, Florida.

From 1947 to 1952, he served as youth minister at First Assembly of God in Winter Garden. He began preaching and evangelizing during this period. In 1949, he was credentialed with the Assemblies of God.

In 1952, he pioneered a church in Apopka, Florida and pastored the church until 1959. During this time, he was a graduate of South Eastern Bible College in Lakeland, Florida, as valedictorian of his class. After pastoring in Clewiston, Florida, he was elected as district youth director of Peninsular Florida District, serving in this position until 1966. He served briefly as the District Secretary-Treasurer and then moved to Panama City, Florida, to pastor First Assembly of God.

In July of 1970, he was elected as Superintendent of the West Florida District, a position he held for the next 27 years. Retiring in 1996, he has not been idle. After moving to Jackson, Mississippi, to be near his three children he served as Senior Associate Pastor at River of Life Assembly of God. He also served as a Police Chaplain for Jackson Police Department Precinct 2. He was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Margaret, of 59 years. He is survived by his three children: daughter Judy Gatlin Warren and her husband Rev. David Warren of Brandon, MS, son Rev. David Gatlin and wife Deana of Jackson, MS, and son Danny Gatlin and wife Clora of Brandon, MS. His six grandchildren: Danielle Gatlin Polk of Jackson, MS, David Gatlin II of Jackson, MS, Gaitha Gatlin Pennington and husband John of Beaumont, TX, Juliana Warren of Brandon, MS, Jonathan Gatlin of Jackson, MS, and James Gatlin, Jackson, MS. His two Great-grandchildren: Eden and Maggie Polk of Jackson, MS, and several nieces and nephews.

Newt F. King

Newt F. King, 72, of Marianna died Thursday, September 6, 2007 at Southeast Alabama Medical Center in Dothan.

A native of Bascom, Mr. King was a retired Florida Highway Patrol Trooper and later worked for the Jackson County Building Department. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Marianna and the Fisherman Sunday School Class, most recently he was employed with Rahal-Miller Chevrolet and Cadillac and Marianna Toyota.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James F. and Bessie Winget King; his Father and Mother in Law, Bill and Emma Duce; a Brother in Law, Robert A. Moline, a nephew, Mark Moline.

Survivors include, his wife of 52 years, Ruth Duce King of Marianna; a son, Wayne King and partner, Kazanobu Akutsu of West New York, New Jersey; two daughters, Lynn King of Taylor, Al. and Rachel Ferraris and husband Scott of Warner Robins, Ga.; Two brothers, Larry King and wife Nell of Two Egg, John King and wife Pat of Bascom; four grandchildren, Courtney Cornog and husband Andrew of Taylor, Al., Joseph Ferraris and Jon David Ferraris both of Warner Robins, Ga. and Madison Kolb of Taylor, Al.; two great-grandchildren, Julian and Caithan Cornog; Two Sisters in Law, Elsie Moline of Marianna and Lo Watts of Jacksonville; two brothers in Law and Sisters in Law, Donnie and Patricia Duce of Chipley, Gayle and Patsey Duce of Marianna. Numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 4 pm, Sunday, September 9, 2007 at Maddox Chapel with Rev. Michael Petty officiating, burial will follow at New Hope Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing. The family will receive friends Sunday, September 9, 2007 after 2 pm at Maddox Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, contributations may be made to the New Hope Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery fund or the Susan G. Komen Cancer Research, P.O. Box 437, Macon, Ga. 31210.

James Ronald "Ronnie" Lunsford

James Ronald "Ronnie" Lunsford, of Graceville died Thursday, Sept. 6, 2007 from injuries received in a motorcycle accident.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 9, 2007 at the First Baptist Church of Graceville with Rev. Tim Hall and Dr. Wiley Richards officiating. Burial will follow in Marvin Chapel Cemetery with James & Lipford Funeral Home in Graceville directing. Family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Ronnie also affectionately known as "J.R." was born in Panama City on September 30, 1945. He was a 1963 graduate of Graceville High School. J. R. was an independent insurance agent for over 44 years. In 1998 he was insurance agent of the year with CSO. J. R. enjoyed riding his motorcycle especially in the mountains. He was a die hard Seminole fan. His favorite past time was fishing, gardening, tennis, spending time with his family and six pets.

J.R. was preceded in death by his father, M.L. Lunsford; son, James Ronald Lunsford, Jr. He is survived by his wife, Saundra Lunsford, mother, Betty Lunsford both of Graceville; children, Donna Williams & husband L.B. of Panama City, Brian Cannington & wife Amanda of Waycross, GA, Carlie Kokoska & husband Josh of Sheffield Lake, OH, Ben Cannington & wife Teresa of Cantonment; two brothers, Donnie Lunsford of Graceville, Terry Lunsford of Sanford; sister, Brenda Morris of Graceville; five grandchildren Alicia Lunsford, Jamilee McQuaig, Molly Strickland, Hannah Grace Cannington, Joshua Joseph Kokoska, Jr., mother-in-law, Audrey Lee Davis of Graceville, several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Justin Paul Neel, Jr., 2 month old son of Jusitn and April Lynn Neel Sr. Pace, died December 2, 2001. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 6 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 5 with funeral services at 6 p.m. at Donnie Sowell Funeral Home Chapel in Milton, with Rev. Gary Cook officiating. Burial will be in Memory Park Cemetery. The family offers a very special thank you to Wal-Mart number 1224, Davis Highway and the many relatives and friends for their prayers and support.

Gladys Isolene Nairn, 95, of greenwood died Saturday, December 1, 2001 in Bronx, New York. Graveside services will be held at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 5 at Greenwood United Methodist Church Cemetery with Cantor Richard Rosenfield officiating, and James and James Funeral Home, Maddox Chapel directing.

Dollie Mae Hardy, 89, of Alford died Saturday, Dec. 1, 2001 in Leesburg. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Dec. 6, at 2 p.m. in the Marianna Chapel Funeral Homewith Pastors Carlton Baggett and Walter Baxley officiating. Burial will in the Salem Freewill Baptist Cemetery in Steel City. The family will receive friends Wednesday, Evening from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the Marianna Chapel Funeral Home.

Marhta Tyus Harrison, 78, of Sneads, died Saturday, Dec. 1, 2001, at her home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. (CDT) Wednesday, Dec. 5, at Welcome Assemble of God Church in Dellwood with the Revs. Charles Jackson and Jack Howell officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with James and James Funeral Home, Maddox Chapel directing. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. (CDT) Teusday, Dec. 4, at the funeral home.

Grant E. Harkleroad, 76, of Marianna went to be with the Lord Thursday, Nov. 29, 2001. Funeral services will be held Sunday, Dec. 2, 2001 at 3 p.m in Maddox Chapel with the Rev. Randall Jarnigan offciating. Cremeation to follow. James and James Funeral Home, Maddox Chapel directing. The family will receive friends Sunday, Dec. 2, from 2 p.m. until funeral time. Flowers will be accepted or those wishing to may make contributions to the American Cancer Society.

Lenwood Swails (Little Boy) 87, of Washington D.C., formerly of Marianna, died Saturday, Nov. 24, 2001. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Dec. 1, at 1 p.m. in the St. James A.M.E. Church in Marianna with Vann Funeral Home directing. The body will lie at the church from noon until time for the funeral.

Anna H. Mayo, 81, of Marianna died Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2001, in Marianna. Services will be held at Marianna Chapel Funeral Home today, Friday, Nov. 30, at 10 a.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Earnest Raley officiating. Burial will be in the Vickery Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Grant E. Harkleroad, 76, of Marianna went to be with the Lord Thursday, Nov. 29, 2001. Funeral services will be held Sunday, Dec. 2, 2001 at Maddox Chapel with the Rev. Randall Jarnigan offciating. Margie Westberg Miller, 78, of Bristol died Thursday, Nov. 29, 2001 of a lengthy illness in Blountstown. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. (EST) Saturday, Dec. 1, in the Chapel of McClellan Funeral Home in Bristol. Burial will be at 3 p.m. (EST) in Pinecrest Cemetery in Marianna. The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m Friday, Nov. 30, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Covenant Hospice in Marianna or to a charity of your choice.

James Lincoln Lowery, 73, of Marianna died Thursday, Nov. 29, 2001, in Bay Medical Center. Services will be held Saturday, Dec. 1, 2001 at 10 a.m. in the Marianna Chapel Funeral Home with Pastors David Williford and Levon Pettis officiating. Burial will be in the Pinecrest Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends tonight, Friday, Nov. 30, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the funeral home.

Phyllis Victoria Moore, 57, of Grand Ridge died Tuesday, November 27, in Marianna. Funeral services will be held Friday, Nov. 30, at 2 p.m. at Maddox Chapel with the Rev. Jack Howell officiating. Burial will be in Cypress Cemetery with James and James Funeral Home, Maddox Chapel directing. The family will recieve friends from noon until funeral time Friday at Maddox Chapel.

Mrs. Ola Shores Morris

Mrs. Ola Shores Morris, affectionately known as "Aunt Bug" who would have been 100 years old on November 12, 2007, went to be with the Lord, Monday, September 25, 2007 at the Marianna Health & Rehabilitation Center. She was a life long resident of Jackson County, a member of the Bethlehem Baptist Church of Kynesville. Mrs. Morris was a very loving mother, and grandmother. Her other loves were yard work, farming, harvesting pecans and visiting with friends and neighbors.

Funeral services for Mrs. Morris will be held today at 11:00 AM, at Marianna Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Ronnie Wright officiating.

There will be a private interment service held at a later time at Kynesville Methodist Church Cemetery.

Family will receive friends today at Marianna Chapel Funeral Home from 10:00 AM until time of service.

The family would like to extend there gratitude to Jackson Hospital and their staff and to Marianna Health & Rehabilitation Center for all the wonderful care given to Aunt Bug.

Marianna Chapel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Annie Jewel Saulsberry

Mrs. Annie Jewel Saulsberry, of Cottondale, passed away Sunday morning, Sept. 23, 2007, at her residence. She was a native of Goshen, Ala., but resided in the Jacob community for many years. She was of the Baptist faith.

The funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, at St. Mary Baptist Church in Jacob, with the Rev. George Bowers officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with Cooper Funeral Home of Chipley directing.

Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law: Richard and Delatrone Saulsberry of Gainesville, Willie & Geneva Saulsberry of Fairfield, and Keith and Sheroresier Saulsberry, Dothan, Ala.; four daughters and sons-in-law: Annie Doris Saulsberry of Jacob City, Lois Saulsberry, Brenda and Lavern Washington, all of Tallahassee, Linda and Jimie Smith of Chattanooga, Tenn.; a sister, Eunice Hooks, Cleveland, Ohio; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

The remains will lie in repose at the church one hour prior to the service. Visitation at the funeral home will be from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday.

Mrs. Willie Emma (Wilemma) Pollock, 92, of 4930 Lauderdale Lane in Bascom, entered into eternal rest on Friday morning, Sept. 21, 2007, in Flowers Hospital in Dothan, Ala., following a brief illness.

She was Baptist by faith and a longtime member of Liberty Hill Missionary Baptist Church. She was a homemaker and a former employee of Pender Peanut Mill Corp. in Greenwood. She attended Liberty Hill School and Gilmore Academy in Marianna.

She leaves a lifetime of love and precious memories with: three sons, CSM-Army, retired, Edward L. Johnson (Nancy) of Fayetteville, N.C., Isaac H. Pollock (Hazel) of Bradenton, and Deacon Ralph D. Pollock (Helen) of Greenwood; one sister, Carrie L. Smith of Lake Worth; one sister-in-law, Aristine Pollock if Miami; six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

The funeral will be held at noon on Saturday, Sept. 29, at the New Liberty Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Bascom with the Revs. Joel Pollock, Jimmy Pollock and Dr. Elder Nelson officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with Vann Funeral Home in charge of services.

Mrs. Pollock will lie in repose at the church from 11 a.m. Saturday until time for the funeral. The family will receive friends Friday, Sept. 28, from 5-6 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Eldorado Long Smith, of Marianna, passed away Saturday, Sept. 22, 2007, at her daughter's residence in Chipley.

She was a native of Jackson County, a retired educator, and was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include one daughter, Jimmie L. Cooper of Chipley; three grandchildren, Zannie Reginald Cooper of Chipley, Willis O. Cooper of Lake City, and Rayne J. Cooper-Cooks of Madison; two sisters, Mary E. Wilson of Marianna and Eliza Livingston of Philadelphia, Pa.; five great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

The funeral will be held at noon on Thursday, Sept. 27, at Buckhorn Baptist Church near Greenwood, with the Rev. W.M. Harvey officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with Cooper Funeral Home of Chipley directing.

Mrs. Smith will lie in repose at the church one hour prior to the service.

Funeral services for Mrs. Morris will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, September 27, 2007 at Marianna Chapel Funeral Home.

There will be a private interment service held at a later time at Kynesville Methodist Church Cemetery.

Edna Ruth Russell Gray, 94, of Marianna died Monday, September 24, 2007, at her residence.

She was born on July 17, 1913 in Marianna, the second child of Charles Edward Russell and the former Annie Louise Kent. On April 25, 1937, Edna married Louie Minch Gray of Pensacola. Edna received her AA degree from Chipola Junior College, retired from Florida Department of Human Resources, and was a faithful member of First United Methodist Church of Marianna for 82 years.

She was preceded in death by her dear husband, Louie Minch Gray in 1959, and her two sisters, Martha Roberts and Frances Konopacka.

Survivors include one son James Russell Gray and wife Nancy of Lawrenceville, Georgia; one daughter, Janet Gray Stephenson and husband Charles Judson of Marianna; six grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, September 27, in the sanctuary of First United Methodist Church of Marianna, with Dr. Bob McKibben officiating. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First United Methodist Church (for The World Hunger Relief Fund) 2901 Caledonia Street, Marianna, Fl. - 32446.
