MAZIE T. ROSSELL
Mazie T. Rossell, age 97, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 8, 2001, in Twin Cities Hospital. She was born near Bruce on July 28, 1903, and had resided in Bruce most of her life. She is survived by two brothers, Willie N. Ward and Joseph Guy Ward both of Bruce; son, Don Thomas and wife, Keiko; daughter-in-law, Miriam Thomas, all of Bruce; stepdaughter, Julia Bogan of Haughton, La.; special nieces and nephews, Pansy Bjorklund, Zera Denson, Naomi Starr and husband, H.E.; Billy Joe Ward, Dex Pate and wife Margie; Opal Godsey and husband, Earl; Kenna Pate and wife, Carol; Bill Ward and wife, Faye; grandchildren, Allen B. Thomas Sr. and wife Susan; and Camilla Gant; great-grandchildren, Allen B. Thomas Jr., Steven Gant and Jennifer Moorehouse and five great-great grandchildren. Mrs. Rossell was the matriarch and Chief (Micco) of the Choctawhatchee clan of Creek Indian of Bruce. She had been a long standing member of the governing council for the Florida tribe of the Eastern Creeks and had served on the N.W. Florida Creek Indian Council. She was a past Silver Haired Legislator and was President of the Women's Club of Bruce for many years. She was a member of the Democratic Committee for over 50 years, and was a member of Freeport Chapter No. 281, Order of the Eastern Star. Funeral services and Eastern Star services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 11, at Bruce Methodist Church with the Rev. Bill Young and Dr. Andrew Ramsey officiating. Burial will follow in Dead River Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers for Mrs. Rossell will be the members of the Florida Tribe of Eastern Creek Indians. A time of visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Feb. 10 at Clary-Godwin Freeport Chapel.

BILLY HOWARD SHORES
Billy Howard Shores, age 69, of Chipley, passed away Thursday, Feb. 8, 2001, at his home following an extended illness. Mr. Shores was born Jan. 25, 1932, to William Henry (Bill) and Mary Elizabeth Shores. He was the youngest of 11 children. He served four years in the U.S. Air Force and was an employee of Florida Department of Transportation for 38 years before retiring in 1997. He was a member of Wausau Assembly of God Church. Mr. Shores was preceded in death by his parents, William Henry (Bill) and Mary Elizabeth Shores; two brothers, Isaac Shores and Ira Shores; and two sisters, Clarcie Shores and Rebecca Shores Blue. He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Ruby Cathren Shores; one son, Keith Shores and wife Jana of Chipley; one daughter, Karyn Miles and husband Grant of Chipley; two grandchildren, Austin and Mackenzie Miles both of Chipley; three brothers, Joe Shores of Bonifay, Daniel Shores and wife Mary Frances of Panama City, Gene Shores and wife Pauline of Vernon; three sisters, Thelma Sapp of Panama City, Frances Fussell and husband Julius of Chipley, Helen Pippin and husband Roy of Chipley; 12 nieces and nephews and a host of friends and family. Flowers will be accepted or those desiring may make contributions to Hospice of Northwest Florida. The family will receive friends at Wachob Chapel today, Feb. 10, from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Wausau Assembly of God Church on Sunday, Feb. 11 at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Doug Harn and the Rev. Harry McClellan officiating. Interment will follow at Haddock Memorial Cemetery on Bonnett Pond Road.

Mr. Henry Cecil Skipper, age 80, of 619 Satsuma Ave., Panama City, Fla., passed away Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2001, at a local nursing home. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today, Feb. 10, 2001, at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. J.W. Hunt officiating. Interment will follow at Millville Cemetery with full military honors conducted by the Ft. Rucker Honor Guard. Contributions may be made to Hospice of Northwest Florida.

Mr. Robert E. Enfinger, 83, of Youngstown, Fla., died Saturday, Feb. 10, 2001, at a local health care facility. Born in Madrid, Ala., he moved to the Panama City area when he was 5-years-old. Mr. Enfinger was employed as a custodian with the Bay County School Board for 36 years and was of the Protestant faith. Mr. Enfinger is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Mrs. Nancy Jane Enfinger of Youngstown, Fla.; two sons, Mr. Hayward Enfinger of Youngstown, and Mr. Charles Enfinger and wife, Kim of Youngstown; one daugther, Mrs. Mary Lois Stephens and husband, Larry of Bates City, Mo.; two brothers, Mr. Doyle Enfinger of Tallahassee, Fla., and Mr. Louie Enfinger of Youngstown, Fla.; two sisters, Mrs. Eloise Howard of Tampa, Fla., and Mrs. Mary Wiggins of Panama City; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2001, at 11 a.m. at the Southerland Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jerry Sapp officiating. Interment will follow in the Brown Cemetary at Bennett Crossroads. Family will receive friends on Monday, Feb. 12, 2001, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Bay County Altzheimers Association, 1306 Jenks Avenue, Panama City, FL 32404 in Mr. Enfinger's name.

ROBERT LEE 'BUZZ' KEEL
Mr. Robert Lee "Buzz" Keel, 49, of Highland View, passed away Saturday morning, Feb. 10, 2001, in Gulf Pines Hospital. He was a lifelong resident of Highland View and was a former employee of St. Joe Paper Company. He was currently employed at Johnny Mize Plumbing and was a member of Highland View Baptist Church. Survivors include his loving companion, Debbie Owens, and her children, Jamie Clayton and Jeremy Owens of Highland View; his daughter, Angela Keel of Port St. Joe; his sisters, Dauhrice Gibson of Panama City, Linda St. Germaine of Houston, Texas and Rose Szlanski of Hickory, N.C.; and his brother, James Keel of Panama City. The funeral services will be held Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2001, at 11 a.m. EDT, from the graveside in Holly Hill Cemetery, conducted by the Rev. Billy Rich. Interment will follow. He will lie in state at the Comforter Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 12.

Joe G. Love Jr., 66, of Panama City Beach, died Sunday, Jan. 28, 2001, in a local hospital. He was a native of Panama City Beach. He was employed as a maintenance supervisor for the Holiday Inn Sunspree Resort for many years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe G. and Lucy Margaret Love Sr. Mr. Love is survived by two daughters, Julie Love of Panama City Beach and Edie and Keith Frasier of Tallahassee; one son, Joe G. Love III of Panama City Beach; three grandchildren: Brittany Love of Panama City Beach, Scott and Steven Frasier of Tallahassee. Private graveside services were held Thursday, Feb. 1, 2001, in Alabama.

Colleen Maddy Martin of Panama City, Fla., died Saturday, Feb. 10, 2001, in Pace, Fla. She had been a resident of Bay County since 1994 moving here from Houston, Texas. She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. She is survived by her son, Frank B. Martin of Pace, Fla.; daughter, Virginia Strange of Shreveport, La.; three brothers: Elmer Charles Maddy Jr. of Greenwich, Conn., Howard R. Maddy of Dallas, Texas, James R. Maddy of Little Rock, Ark.; and four grandsons: Joshua A. Martin and Jacob A. Martin, both of Pace, Fla., Terry Strange and Leslie Fox, both of Shreveport, La. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Seventh Day Adventist Church, 1905 W. 11th St., Panama City with Pastor Scott Tyman officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 5 to 8 p.m.

Roy Alexander Speir, 81, of Panama City, died Friday, Feb. 2, 2001, at his home. He was a native of Philadelphia, Pa., and lived most of his life in Miami, Fla. The family requested memorialization by cremation and a memorial service will be held at a later date in Miami.

Mrs. Lois A. Stephens, age 71, of Clarksville, died Wednesday at Gulf Coast Hospital in Panama City. Mrs. Stephens was born in the Carr Community and was a member of the Jehovahs witness. Survivors include her husband, J. Frank Stephens Sr. of Clarksville; three sons and daughters-in-law: Frank Stephens of Clarksville, Billy and Debbie Stephens of Bennetsville, S.C., Dewey and Mary Jo Stephens of Blountstown; three daughters and sons-in-law: Maxine Hobby of Clarksville, Jackie and R.G. Ritter of Clarksville, Lisa Stephens and Steve of Panama City; one brother, John Abbott of Panama City; one sister, Frances Rawson of Panama City Beach; 13 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Saturday, at 10 a.m. CDT in the chapel of Adams Funeral Home with J.D. Willis officiating. Cremation followed.

MELMER GRUBBS
Mrs. Melmer Grubbs, 88, of 4418 Cato Road in Panama City, passed away Saturday, Feb. 10, 2001, in a local hospital. She had been a resident of Bay County since 1948 after coming here from Louisville, Ala. Mrs. Grubbs was of the Baptist faith, enjoyed gardening, yard work, fishing and the outdoors. Mrs. Grubbs is survived by two sons, Billy R. Grubbs and wife, Sue of Ormond Beach, Fla., and Cecil D. Grubbs and wife, Julie of Yalaha, Fla.; two brothers, Billy Earl Carpenter of Dearborn, Mich., and Shorty Carpenter of Louisville, Ala.; three sisters: Gertrude Hartzog of Louisville, Ala., Christian Phelps of Auburn, Ala., and Cupi Dean Abbott of Orlando, Fla.; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Mattie Cook of Panama City. Mrs. Grubbs was preceded in death by her husband, W.T. Grubbs; a daughter, Lillyan Fussell; and a son, Eugene Grubbs. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2001, at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mike Parker officiating. Asked to serve as active pallbearers are Mrs. Grubbs' grandsons: Ray Grubbs, Jon Grubbs, Tracy Grubbs, Cecil Grubbs, Mike Grubbs and David Fussell. EDNA ELOIS LARAMORE
Edna Elois Laramore, 86, of Panama City, passed away Sunday morning, Feb. 11, 2001, in a local hospital. She was born in Betts, Fla., and was a lifelong resident of Panama City. She was active in the American Cancer Society, PTA and the March of Dimes. She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband, W.D. (Bill) Laramore; daughter, Sharon Janelle Gunter; and a son, Don Wayne Laramore. She is survived by three daughters: LaVerne Olsen of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., Barbara Rimer of Mount Pleasant, N.C., and Sandra Blount of Panama City; two sons, William (Billy) Laramore of Thomasville, Ga., and Ronald Laramore of Panama City; 14 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Trinity United Methodist Church with Dr. Floyd Wright officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.
