Funeral services for Viola Whitlock Rosenau will be held today at 1 p.m. in the Temple Bethel Cemetery in Pensacola with the Rabbi N. William Schwartz officiating. Pallbearers will be the sons of her youngest sister, Virginia Waller. In keeping with her lifelong spirit of caring for others, those desiring to, may make a contribution to a charity of personal choice in memory of Viola Whitlock Rosenau.

MARY SUE YOUNG
Mary Sue Young, 85, of Panama City died Feb. 22, 2001, in a local nursing home. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Panama City and a member of the Faithful Servants Sunday school class. She was preceded in death by three sisters: Mildred Hardee, Helen Fralick and Hollie Sperry; one brother, William P. Young Jr. Survivors include two nieces, Mrs. Ann Hair and husband, Buddy of Springfield, La., and Mrs. Hollie Ostrander of Panama City; three nephews: the Rev. Isaac McDonald and wife, JoAnn of Elizebethtown, Ky., Ralph Hardee and wife, Burma Sue of Lake City, Fla., and William Harrell and wife, Lou of Lakeland, Fla. The family will receive friends at 300 East 2nd St. on Tuesday, Feb. 27 from 2 to 4 p.m. Private graveside services will be held on Thursday in Lake City. Those desiring to, may make a donation to the Building Fund of First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 1200, Panama City, FL 32401 in memory of Mary Sue Young.

JEWELL ALLEN CONE
Mrs. Jewell Allen Cone, age 89, of Cottondale, died Sunday, Feb. 25, 2001, at Jackson Hospital. Mrs. Cone lived in Jackson County most of her life. She graduated from Cottondale High School and attended the University of Florida and taught in Alford School from the 1930s until early 1940s. Mrs. Cone was a member of Cottondale Methodist Church, the Cottondale Garden Club, WMU and the Jackson County Retired Educators Association. Mrs. Cone was preceded in death by her husband, J.P. Cone Sr. in 1991 after 60 years of blessed marriage. Mrs. Cone is survived by one daughter, Gwen Anderson and husband, Andy of Marianna; two sons, J.P. Cone and wife, Charlotte of Pensacola and Wayne A. Cone and wife, Debbie of Houston, Texas. She is also survived by one special sister-in-law, Mrs. Ina Belle Allen of Alford; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews. Services for Mrs. Cone will be 10 a.m. today, Feb. 27 at Marianna Chapel Funeral Home with Pastor Bill Kundo officiating. Pallbearers who will be attending are grandsons: William Rose, Saunders Cone, Jason Cone; nephews: Tom Allen, Jim Allen and Tom Britt. Interment will follow in Cottondale Methodist Church Cemetery with Marianna Chapel Funeral Home directing. The family received friends Monday, Feb. 26, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Marianna Chapel Funeral Home.

EDWARD JOHN KENNEDY
Mr. Edward John Kennedy, age 75, of 105 Sun Lane, Panama City Beach, Fla., died Saturday, Feb. 24, 2001, at a local hospital. He has been a resident of the area for eight and one-half years, coming here from Boliver, Ohio. Mr. Kennedy volunteered for the organization RSVP. He is survived by his wife of 52 1/2 years, Betty Kennedy of Panama City Beach; sons, Ray Edward Kennedy of Tallahassee and Jerry Lee Kennedy of Auburn, Calif.; a brother, James Kennedy and his wife, Jeanne of Fairview Park, Ohio; and grandchildren, Rachel Kennedy and Justin Kennedy. Memorial services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, March 1 at Chapel of Love Mausoleum in Forest Lawn Memorial Cemetery with the Rev. Charles Key officiating. MARTHA ELIZABETH 'BETTIE' PARK RAY
Mrs. Martha Elizabeth (Bettie) Park Ray, died on Monday, Feb. 26, 2001, at the Coast Medical Center after a short illness. Mrs. Ray was born in Philadelphia, Pa., to the Rev. Dr. and Mrs. James A. Park. She was a graduate of Lenore High School, Lenore, Tenn., and she applied and was accepted as a student of the Cadek Conservatory of Music of the University of Chattanooga, Tenn. As a student of the renowned organist Miss Isa McIlwraith, Mrs. Ray received her bachelor of music degree from Cadek Conservatory. During this period she also served as director of music and organist of First United Methodist Church in Morristown, Tenn., under the pastorate of Dr. Earl G. Hunt. Mrs. Ray graduated from Florida State University with a master of music with double majors in music history and organ, having as her major professor, Dr. Ramona Beard. Mrs. Ray began her teaching career as the head of the music department at Norman College, Norman Park, Ga., and she also served as the organist at First United Methodist Church in Moultrie, Ga. She later became affiliated with Gulf Coast Community College where she served on the faculty of the music department, and when she retired, she was an Associate Professor in the social science department. Mrs. Ray had served as organist of First Baptist Church of Panama City, and was organist at First United Methodist Church of Panama City at the time of her death. Mrs. Ray was known for her many interests. Throughout her youth, she showed horses, and later earned her pilot's license and had the joy of piloting a private plane. She enjoyed flower arranging and being in the outdoors. She was most interested in and concerned about her students, always wanting them to succeed in their endeavors, and she thrived on beautiful music. Mrs. Ray is survived by her husband, Emory G. Ray; two daughters, Sandi Burleson and Pat Ray; son-in-law, Joe Burleson; two grandchildren, Heather Burleson, Ben Burleson; mother, Mrs. James A. Park; two sisters-in-law, Rosalyn Ray Donaldson of Tifton, Ga., Frances Ray Wall of Greenville, S.C. Graveside services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in Forest Lawn Mausoleum. A memorial service will be held on Monday, March 5 at 2 p.m. in First United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 7 p.m. today. The family request that no flowers be sent and that contributions be made to the Gulf Coast Community College Foundation, 5230 W. Hwy 98, Panama City, FL 32401 in memory of Mrs. Ray.

HENRY FERRELL SAPP
Mr. Henry Ferrell Sapp, age 53, of 12439 Skunk Valley Lane, Southport, Fla., died Sunday, Feb. 25, 2001, at his home. He has been a lifetime resident of the area and was Assembly of God by faith. Mr. Sapp loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing and his animals. He also had a great love of his sons and grandchildren. Mr. Sapp is survived by his wife, L. Gail Sapp of Southport; the mother of his two sons, Carlin R. Balkom; sons, Henry E. Sapp and his wife, Darlene of Panama City and Dwain T. Sapp and his wife, Angella of Southport; grandchildren: Britney N. Sapp, Autisn H. Sapp, Jaylin N. Sapp, Preston T. Sapp, Maegan M. Sapp, Brandon Guthrie and Jessica Guthrie; seven brothers: Joe Sapp of Panama City, William Sapp of Southport, Donald Jones of Alabama, Daniel Sapp of Southport, Charles Sapp of Fountain and Junior Sapp and John Sapp, both of Apalachicola; and a sister, Annie Mae Finch of Apalachicola. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Jane Haddon and Rachel McMasters and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Monroe and Elma Lee Sapp. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 28 at Central Assembly of God with the Rev. Don Shoots and the Rev. Darwin Glass officiating. Interment will follow at Southport Memorial Gardens. Asked to serve as active pallbearers are: David Whitehead, Wayne White, Jesse Miller, W. H. BERT VINEYARD
Senior Master Sgt. USAF retired Bert Vineyard Jr., age 74, of Panama City, Fla., passed away Sunday, Feb. 25, 2001, at a local hospital. A native of Utica, N.Y., he had lived in Panama City for 47 years, moving here from Clendenin, W.Va. He was retired after 29 years service in the U. S. Air Force, serving during World War II, the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam era. Mr. Vineyard was a member of Christian Motorcyclists Association in Panama City and loved riding his Harley Davidson. He attended Parker United Methodist Church. Mr. Vineyard is survived by his wife of 47 years, Phyllis Vineyard of Panama City; three sons: Capt. Michael Robert Vineyard and his wife, Colleen, Richard Lee Vineyard and Charles Orie Vineyard, all of Panama City; a sister, Macil Marie Johnston of Scott Depot, W.Va.; two grandsons, Eric Lee Vineyard and William Phillip Vineyard; one granddaughter, Lorrie Bushmeyer; and two great-grandchildren, Christian Blake Vineyard and Caitie Bushmeyer. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 28 at Parker United Methodist Church with the Rev. Paul Malson officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. KIAHFORD K. YELVINGTON
Mr. Kiahford K. Yelvington, 75, of West Bay, Fla., passed away Sunday, Feb. 26, 2001, at his home. Born in Bruce, Fla., he was a longtime resident of this area. He was a carpenter and a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army. He received a Bronze Star along with many other awards. His parents, Bessy Watkins and Roy Yelvington and a sister, Eleanor Perkins, preceded him in death. Mr. Yelvington is survived by five sons: Kenneth Yelvington of Panama City, Mike, Mitch and Melvin Yelvington all of Great Falls, Mont., and Matthew Yelvington of Juliet Falls; three daughters: Mary Birnie of Spokane, Wash., Marcella Dahl of Great Falls and Mandy Barnes and husband, Brian of Southport; two brothers, Donald Yelvington of West Bay, Fla., and Elbert Yelvington and wife, Helen of Southport; one sister, Minnie Bullard of Jackson, Miss; 18 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, Feb. 28 at 11 a.m. in Pine Log Community Church with Bro. Kevin Bartlett officiating. Interment will follow in Gunlock Cemetery in West Bay. The family will receive friends at the funeral home this evening from 6 to 8 p.m.

Curtis D. Cates, age 79, of Panama City Beach, died Saturday, Feb. 24, 2001, in a local nursing home. Mr. Cates was a native of Kentucky. He served as a railroad conductor for many years. He is survived locally, by his wife, Mary Cates of Panama City Beach. The family request memorialization by cremation.

KATHERYN J. MINTON
Mrs. Katheryn J. Minton, age 76, of 3611 Transmitter Rd., Panama City, Fla., died Monday, Feb. 26, 2001, at a local hospital. She had been a resident of the area since 1956, coming here from Lenoir, N.C., and was Baptist by faith. Mrs. Minton was retired form Sears in Panama City, where she worked as a seamstress. She loved to paint, sew and crochet. Mrs. Minton is survived by her daughters, Brenda Turner and her husband Steve, and Mary " Kitty" Varney , all of Panama City; sisters, Elizabeth Honeycutt of Lenoir, N.C.; Jean Lewis and her husband Jack of Marion, N.C.; Lillie Jenkins of Lenoir, N.C.; and Janet Jarvis and her husband Mack of Hudson, N.C.; brothers, Bub Jenkins and his wife Margaret of Lenoir, Jim Jenkins of Charlottesville, Va., and John Jenkins and his wife Mabel of Lenoir; four grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene S. Minton; mother, Mattie Michael Jenkins; father, Albert Grant Jenkins; brothers, Ray Jenkins, Hoover Jenkins, Sherill Jenkins, Dallas Jenkins, and Jay Jenkins; and sisters, Mallie Jenkins, Estelle Eller, and Mattie Whittington.

ALICE CANNON SMITH
Mrs. Alice Cannon Smith, age 83, went home to be with her Lord on Feb. 26, 2001, at her daughter's home where she was cared for because of an extended illness. Mrs. Smith lived most of her life in Walton County coming from Pennsylvania, where she worked as a nurse, both in New York City and at White Wilson Hospital in Ft. Walton Beach. She was born Feb. 26, 1918, in Hamlin, Penn. to the late Merrill and Freida Cannon. Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth F. Smith in 1997, after 55 years of blessed marriage. She was a member of Santa Rosa Beach Community Church, which she and her husband were instrumental in starting in 1949. She was a member of Women's Civic Club of Panama City Beach and Women's Missionary Service. She loved gardening with herbs and fresh water fishing. Mrs. Smith is survived by one caring daughter, Faith and loving son-in-law, Norman Parr; sister, Ruth Intoccia and husband Vincent; several nieces and nephews; two very special stepdaughters, Noelle Parr Nation and husband Nathaniel, Abby Parr Kerr and husband Timothy; six dear stepgreat-grandchildren. We would like to express our gratitude to the wonderful care from Dr. Stephen Miller and Dr. Thompson Maner and their staff. We would like to express appreciation to Hospice and American Homepatient for all their services. Funeral services will be held at Community Church in Santa Rosa Beach with the Rev. Robert Hendricks and the Rev. Donald Ullrich on Thursday, March 1, at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Gulf Cemetery. The church will receive friends after the service. Mrs. Mary Ellen Teeters, age 90, of 3120 Minnesota Ave., Panama City, Fla., died Saturday, Feb. 24, 2001, at a local nursing facility. She had been a resident of the area since 1967, moving here from Anderson, Ind. Mrs. Teeters was Methodist by faith and an avid bridge player. She was a 66 year member of Eastern Star, Anderson Chapter No. 154, a 50 year member of the White Shrine of Jerusalem Bethesda No.11 of Anderson, Ind., and a member of the Kik-Tha-We-Nund Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution. Mrs. Teeters is survived by a daughter, Judith Gulmire and her husband Fred of Anderson, Ind.; two sons, Jim Teeters and his wife Jeanne of Marion, Ind. and Wayne Teeters of Anderson; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be held at a later date in Anderson. Contributions may be made to Hospice of Northwest Florida, 2689 Jenks Ave., Panama City, FL 32405.
