Mrs. Lonice Roberta Pitts Hill, 88, of Panama City, Fla., died Saturday morning, March 17, 2001, in a local nursing home. She moved to Bay County in 1954 from Birmingham, Ala., and became the owner and operator of the Moon Glo Motel on Panama City Beach. Mrs. Hill was also Protestant by faith. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Samuel and Easter Goval Pitts as well as her husband, Joe W. Hill. Mrs. Hill is survived by her son, Kenneth R. Hill and wife, Nan of Birmingham, Ala.; her daughter, Barbara Tindle and husband, Wayne of Panama City; two brothers, J.S. Pitts and wife, Priscilla of Cropwell, Ala., and Connie Pitts and wife, Josephine, Fla., and Rose Aufdemortt and husband, Albert of Birmingham, Ala.; four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Graveside services for Mrs. Hill will be conducted on Tuesday, March 20, at 3 p.m. in the Elmwood Cemetery in Birmingham, Ala., with interment to follow. The family will receive friends at the Elmwood Chapel Funeral Home in Birmingham from 2 to 3 p.m. on Tuesday.

TERRELL KEITH JACKSON
Mr. Terrell Keith Jackson, 27, of 129 Kacy Lane, died March 14, 2001, in a local hospital. Funeral services for Mr. Jackson will be held today, March 18, at 2 p.m. in the Carter Temple First Born Church, Wewahitchka, with Elder Bradford Johnson, Pastor officiating. Burial to follow in Williamsburg Cemetery, Wewahitchka. The remains will lie in state at the church today from 12 noon until service time. The family will receive relatives and friends at 228 Hill Circle, Wewahitchka.

MONICA LAMONICA
Mrs. Monica Lamonica, age 49, of Parker, Fla., passed away Thursday, March 15, 2001, at her home surrounded by family and friends. She was a lifelong resident of Panama City and touched the lives of many as a nurse in the local community for the past 13 years. She enjoyed life; she especially loved the outdoors and fishing for pompano. Monica is survived by her husband, Andrew Lamonica; a daughter, Kellie Welch; two sons, Wes and Jeremy Welch; a daughter-in-law, Stormy; a grandson, Cody; her mother and stepfather, Marion and Hilton Arnold; a brother, Kenny Mashek; as well as many other relatives and friends. Monica's family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to her special family at the Northwest Florida Surgical Center, and to Dr. Michael McCormick, Dr. Fernando Malamud, Dr. Robert Joseph, Dr. Charles Nichols, Dr. Stringer, the nursing staff at Bay Medical Center and Hospice of Northwest Florida. Funeral services have been changed to 2:30 p.m. this afternoon at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Chapel with the Rev. R.C. Warren and a dear friend, Kyle Smith officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made at any Peoples First Community Bank location in memory of Monica Lamonica.

VELMA MILLER
Mrs. Velma Miller, 81, of Fountain, Fla., died Friday at her residence. Mrs. Miller was a loving wife, devoted mother and cared deeply for her family and friends. She was born in Carrabelle, Fla., and had lived in this area all of her life. She was a member of the Holiness Church. Mrs. Miller was preceded in death by her mother, father, two daughters, Velma Mae Burton and Eva White, as well as her beloved husband, William Samuel Miller, whom she was married to for 50 years. Mrs. Miller is survived by six sons: Rufus Samuel Miller and of Sneeds, Fla., Henry Earl Miller of Lynn Haven, Fla., Jimmy Lou Miller and wife, Ann of Bayou George, Fla., James William Miller and wife, Nella of Vernon, Fla., Charles Elmer Miller and wife, Ann of Greenwood, Fla., and Paul Edward Miller and wife, Riva of Wassau, Fla.; three daughters: Bessie Louise Goodman of Panama City, Fla., Dorothy Mae Staats of Fountain, Fla., and Juanita Metcalf of Dothan, Ala., 32 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren. Funeral services for Mrs. Miller will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the Southerland Family Funeral Home Chapel with L.C. Miller officiating. Interment will follow in the Ebenezer Cemetery in Vernon, Fla. The pallbearers will be members of Mrs. Miller's family. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday evening from 6 to 8 p.m.

JULIUS MOORE
Jr. Bishop Julius Moore Sr., 65, of Chipley, died March 14, in the North West Florida Community Hospital of Chipley. He was a native of Washington County, a pastor, shepherd and counselor of God. He cared deeply for his members and people in the community. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 20, at 12 noon at Johnsons Temple First Born Church in Chipley with Sr. Bishop W.L. Johnson, Jr. Bishop Wiley McQueen, Bishop S.J. Williams, the Rev. Price Wilson and Bishop J.C. Howard, officiating. Interment will follow in the Southside Cemetery in Chipley with the Cooper Funeral Home directing. The remains will lie in state at the church one-hour prior to services. Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Mrs. Sarah Moore of Chipley; mother, Mrs. Ella Rhea Moore; daughters: Fredia Ackin and husband, Al, Emily and Drucilla Moore of Fort Washington, Md.; sons: Allen B. Moore and wife, Debra of Arizona, Curtis Moore of Chipley, Fla., Alvin Moore and wife, Charlene of Fort Washington, Md., and Sgt. Rennie Moore and wife, Carolyn of St. Mary, Ga.; sisters: Julia Jelks, Wilhelmina Moore of Rochester, N.Y., Berta L. Williams and husband, Bishop S.J. Williams, Claratha Moore of Chipley and Mary D. Funeral services for Hubert Quick, age 78, who went home to be with the Lord on March 14, 2001, will be held on Monday, March 19, at 2 p.m. at the North Bay Clan Indian Village, 3733 County 2321, Lynn Haven. Interment will be in the Bayou George Cemetery. The family will receive friends at their home this afternoon. Those desiring to, may make a contribution to the North Bay Indian Clan in memory of Hubert Quick. Active pallbearers will be members of the North Bay Indian Clan. Honorary pallbearers are all of his grandchildren.

J.T. SMITH
J.T. Smith, 72, of Colquitt, Ga., died Friday, March 16, 2001. Mr. Smith was retired from the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam wars. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Clarksville, Tenn., and was a member of Thompsontown Freewill Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Smith of Colquitt and four daughters: Cathy Eades, Michelle Cassell and Janice McEuen all of Panama City, Fla., and Susan Stewart of Cocoa Beach, Fla.; four sisters: Annie Pearl Lunsford and Diane Smith both of Albany, Ga., Maggie Lee Smith and Mary Ellen Alday both of Sumner, Ga., and 11 grandchildren. Interment will be at Mothers Home Cemetery with full military honors. Visitation will be today from 3 to 5 p.m.

JAMES THOMAS 'TOM' BAILEY
Mr. James Thomas "Tom" Bailey, 75, of Panama City, passed away March 17, 2001, at a local hospital. A native of Shelby County, Ky., Mr. Bailey had lived in Panama City for 20 years after moving here from Frankfort, Ky. He was retired from the State of Kentucky a heating and air conditioning technician after 13 years of service. Mr. Bailey was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, a member of the VFW and DAV in Kentucky, and loved salt-water fishing. Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Louise Bailey of Panama City; one brother, Revel C. Bailey of Frankfort; two sisters, Edith Jamison of Frankfort and Aleen Jamison of Waddy, Ky.; and several nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by a brother, Earl Bailey and a sister, Cordia Burchfield. Graveside funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 20, 2001, from Forest Lawn Cemetery. Interment will follow.

DREW RANDOLPH MORGAN
Mr. Drew Randolph Morgan, 17, of Panama City Beach, died Friday, March 16, 2001, as a result of an automobile accident. He was born in Columbus, Ohio and had been a resident of the area since 1991 after moving here from Columbus. Drew was a former student at Bay High School and was currently employed by Winn Dixie at Pinnacle Port. Drew loved the beach and enjoyed diving and surfing. He also enjoyed the game of golf. He was a loving uncle and brother and was Protestant by faith. He is survived by his mother, Susan Morgan of Panama City Beach; his father, Randy Morgan of Ocala, Fla.; a brother, Nathan Morgan and his wife, Kelli of Panama City Beach; a sister, Anna Morgan of Panama City Beach; maternal grandparents, Kenneth and Pauline Randolph of Columbus; paternal grandmother: Marie Morgan of Ocala; a niece, Megan Morgan; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 20, 2001, at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery. Asked to serve as active pallbearers are Nathan Morgan, Jeremy Brown, Sean Fields, Michael Davis, Jack Yohn and Jim Holsombake. JOHN KARL ZERR JR.
Mr. John Karl Zerr Jr., 55, of Panama City, passed away Saturday, March 17, 2001, at a local hospital. Mr. Zerr lived in Panama City for 27 years after moving here from his hometown of Pensacola. He was an electronics salesman with Bay Electronics for 22 years, and had been a sergeant in the U.S. Air Force serving in Vietnam. Survivors include his wife of 29 years, Connie Zerr of Panama City; two sons, John K. Zerr III and Brian K. Zerr, both of Panama City; one daughter, Kelly Maynard of Panama City; one sister, Carrie Delaney of Pensacola; and four grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 21, 2001, at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Charles Key officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 20, 2001.

MABLE ADELINE BAGLEY
Mable Adeline Bagley, 41, of Fountain, Fla., died Saturday, March 17, 2001, at her home. She had been a resident of Bay County for 15 years moving here from Bay St. Louis, Miss. She was preceded in death by her brother, James Butler; and her father, Joseph Butler. She is survived by two daughters, Donna E. Morris and Joshalyn Bagley; a son, Joshua Bagley II; three sisters, Carol Mitchell, Mary Trowell and Linda Pettijohn; two brothers, Michael Butler and John Butler; her mother, Bobbie Burleson; a grandson, Scotty (Scooter) Morris; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 4 p.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Stephen Pettijohn officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 6 to 8 p.m.

THOMAS 'CAPT. TOM' BENNETT CORLEY JR.
Capt. Tom Corley, 92, of Panama City Beach, Fla., passed away Sunday, March 18, 2001, in a local hospital. Born in Columbus, Ga., he moved here in May 1956 from Phenix City, Ala. He was a licensed master first class pilot for Inland Waterways and graduated from Hemphill Engineering School in Memphis, Tenn., in Engineering Science in 1937. He then became an all ocean unlimited master (any gross tons oceans) in 1939. He worked at Newport News Shipbuilding and Drydock Company in Newport News, Va. He entered the U.S. Navy as a commissioned officer in January 1942 and served on a submarine chaser in the Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean Sea & North Atlantic Ocean until he was inactivated at the end of 1945 as commander. He then returned to merchant service as a ship's master. In April of 1954 he began building the oldest place of business on Grand Lagoon, Tom-Ric Motel and Marina and Grand Lagoon Shipyard, known now as Lighthouse Marina. He owned and operated the marina until 1972. Capt. Tom worked from June 1, 1948, to Dec. 31, 2000, as a marine surveyor. He was the longest practicing and oldest marine surveyor in the world in the work with 52 years and seven months of service and 12,000-plus vessels surveyed. Capt. Tom was a member of the American Society of Naval Engineers, the United States Naval Institute, American Boat and Yacht Counsel Professional Information Exchange, National Association of Marine Surveyors, Society of Accredited Marine Surveyors, approved by National Board of Underwriters, performed compass repairs and adjusting for local U.S. Navy and U.S. Coast Guard, active in the delivery of vessels to any port in any ocean, was a member of the Board of Pilot Commissioners for Port of Panama City and the United States Congressional Advisory Board as a a special advisor. Capt. Tom was also proud of a 73-foot stern wheel excursion boat which he started building in October of 1993 and completed in May of 1995. It was called the Chattahoochee Princess. It was sold to a retired Army officer who now operates it on the Chattahoochee River in Columbus, Ga. His wife, Ida Amerzell Corley precedes him in death. Capt. Tom is survived by his loving wife, Violet Corley of Panama City Beach; two sons, Thomas B. Corley III and wife Harriett of Phenix City, Ala., and Capt. Ric Corley and wife Capt. Babs of Panama City Beach; one daughter, Phyllis Fay Shehand and husband Howard C. of Columbus, Ga.; one stepdaughter, Jackie Underwood and husband Capt. Russell Underwood of Lynn Haven; eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, March 21, at 11 a.m. in Southerland Family Funeral Home Chapel will Sheriff Guy Tunnell officiating. Entombment will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. St. Andrews Masonic Lodge No. 212 will conduct Masonic grave rites. The lodge will open at 10 a.m. before the funeral service. Capt. Tom's grandsons will as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. William Dent and staff, members of Lynn Haven Odd Fellows, third floor nursing staff of Bay Medical Center, Charlie Noble and Grover Davis and staff. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. this evening. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite charity.
