On April 16, 2001, at 4:10 a.m., C.C. was called to his eternal rest. Funeral services for Mr. Washington will be held today, April 21, at 2 p.m. in Redemption Lutheran Church, 1700 East 11th St., with the Rev. Edward Myers officiating. Entombment will follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery. The remains will lie in state one hour prior to services at the church. The family will receive friends at the home of his loving wife, Mrs. Louella Washington of 1015 Elm Ave. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to Council on Aging.

DOUGLAS WINSTON BAILEY
Mr. Douglas Winston Bailey, 68, of Wewahitchka, passed away Saturday, April 21, 2001, at a local nursing home. He had been a resident of Gulf and Bay County for most of his life, after coming here from Blountstown. Mr. Bailey served his country in the U.S. Air Force and loved to fish. Mr. Bailey is survived by three children: Angela Bailey Brown and husband, Charlie Brown Jr., of Lynn Haven, Dale Bailey Ciborowski and husband, Ray, of Glenwood Springs, Colo., and Darrell Ernest Bailey of Marietta, Ga.; his former wife, Shirley Williams of Chipley; six grandchildren: Tonya Brown and Corey Brown, both of Panama City, Douglas Bailey and Darrik Bailey, both of Marietta, Joseph Ciborowski of Glenwood Springs, and Denise Bailey Strange of Columbus, Ga. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, April 23, 2001, at the Evergreen Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Fred Melvin officiating. The family will receive friends at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home today, April 22, 2001, from 6 to 8 p.m .

HERMAN JEFFERSON BOZEMAN
Mr. Herman Jefferson Bozeman, 79, of 20021 Brandon Road in Fountain, passed away Saturday, April 21, 2001, at a local hospital. Mr. Bozeman had been a resident of Bay County for the past 65 years after coming here from Bruce, Fla. He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II, was retired as a truck supervisor for the Bay County Road Department after 26 years, and attended the North Sherman Avenue Community Church. Mr. Bozeman is survived by his wife, Alice Bozeman of Fountain; five daughters: Judy Linton, Diane Cutchins, JoAnn Bozeman, Doshe Cutchins and Brenda Register, all of Panama City; four sons: Herman Bozeman, John Bozeman, Jerry Bozeman and Tommy Bozeman, all of Panama City; two stepsons, Anthony Cullen and Arthur Cullen, both of Panama City; 22 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Ethel Adkinson of Lynn Haven. Mr. Bozeman was preceded in death by his first wife, Niza Bozeman and a son, Kenneth Bozeman. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, April 23, 2001, at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mike Broadway officiating. Asked to serve as active pallbearers are: Tony Bozeman, Wayne Cutchins, Ed Ammons, Roy Ammons, Charlie Stevenson and Lloyd Swearington. EXXIE EUGENE HAWTHORNE
Mrs. Exxie Eugene Hawthorne, 87, of Panama City, died Thursday April 19, 2001, in a local nursing home. She was a loving Christian mother whose life revolved around her church and her family. Mrs. Hawthorne was a member of the Springfield Community Church for more than 50 years. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Comer L. Hawthorne; and by her son and daughter-in-law, Robert D. and Victoria Starr Hawthorne, who died in an auto accident in March 3, 2001. Mrs. Hawthorne is survived by three sons: Junie T. Hawthorne, Donald L. Hawthorne and his wife Jeanette, all of Panama City, and Ronnie W. Hawthorne and his wife, Lucy, of Jennison, Mich.; two daughters, Gelemon Sutherland of Ruskin, Fla., and Cecilia Miller and husband Randy, of Panama City; 18 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services for Mrs. Hawthorne will be conducted on Monday April 23, 2001, at 10 a.m., in the Southerland Family Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. J. W. Hunt officiating. Interment will follow in the Bayou George Cemetery. The following gentlemen will serve as active pallbearers: Eric Hawthorne, Rick Lindsey, Emmerson Miller, Donny Hawthorne, Chris Hawthorne and Brad Hawthorne. COLUMBUS GUY HOLLADAY
Mr. Columbus Guy Holladay, 86, of 8624 Deerpoint Drive in Youngstown, passed away Saturday, April 21, 2001, at his home. Mr. Holladay had been a resident of Bay County since 1968, after coming here from Mobile, Ala. He was a member of the Cross Roads Baptist Church of Mobile, and worked for civil service as an electrician from 1953 to 1968 at Brookley Air Force Base in Mobile. He worked seven more years at Tyndall Air Force Base before retiring in 1975. He also enjoyed fishing, the outdoors and gardening. Mr. Holladay is survived by his wife, Dorothy Holladay of Panama City; and two brothers, George Holladay of Elberta, Ala., and Glen Holladay of Mobile. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 23, 2001, at the Evergreen Memorial Gardens, with the Rev. Walter A. Batyski officiating. Asked to serve as active pallbearers are: Tim Batyski, Joey Batyski, Bobby Batyski, Michael Batyski, Michael Batyski Jr. and Lanas Fox. Mrs. Cooper is survived by her husband, Jennis Cooper of Panama City; one son, Amos M. Cooper of Livingston, Texas; two sisters, Rosa Lee Vandergrift of Panama City and Hazel Webb of Columbus, Ga.; one grandson, Michael Cooper and wife, Teresa of New York. Scott T. St. Pierer passed away Friday, April 20, 2001, at his home. He had been a resident of Gulf County since 1971, served in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged. Edward Lee Sewell, 72, of Chipley passed away Saturday, April 21, 2001, at his residence. He resided in Chipley since 1969 after coming from Panama City. He was of the Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints faith. He was a mason and a 50-year member of the St. Andrews Masonic Lodge. He was a member of the Cattleman's Association and a member of the Oakland Terrace Men's Club. He received the certificate for outstanding farmer and conservationist in 1999. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 24, 2001, at the Wachob Chapel with Bishop Kim George and Brad Petty officiating, and with John E. Carter giving the eulogy. Burial will follow in the Piney Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Brown Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today, April 23, 2001, at the Wachob Chapel. He is survived by his wife, Jean Sewell of Chipley; son, Rodney and his wife, Donna Sewell of Chipley; sisters, Arphelia Murphy and Jo Ann Hasty, both of Chipley; four grandchildren: Jessica, Justin, Erica and Stephen Sewell; and several nephews and nieces. JAMES ARTHUR WALTON
Mr. James Arthur Walton, 55, of Panama City, died Thursday, April 19, in a local nursing center. He was the son of the late Willie and Margaret Walton. His parents taught him the love of God at an early age in his life. Mr. Walton was a 1963 graduate of Rosenwald High School. He served his country in the U.S. Army and was a Vietnam veteran. "Walt, as he is affectionately called, was kind, full of smiles and never complained of his circumstances. He highly enjoyed watching football and basketball on TV. Mr. Walton was survived by his brothers, William Earl Walton of Cross City, Fla., and Julius (Cheryl) Livingston of Strasbury, Colo.; one very caring sister, Mrs. Jessie (Preston Sr.) Livingston of Olivia, N.C.; one aunt, Lizzie Rogers of Opp, Ala.; a special cousin, Martha Blackwell of Opp, Ala.; two local cousins, Jeff (Sara) Watson Jr., and Jessie Wastson (Wilbert) White, all of Panama City; many nieces, nephews, cousins, boyhood neighbor Willie Mae Fryer, friends and entire staff of St. Andrews Health Center. Graveside services for Mr. Walton will be held Tuesday, April 24, at 11 a.m. in the Hillside Cemetery with the Rev. Preston Grimes Sr. officiating. Interment will follow. The Rev. Ray Allen Bodeen, 57, a resident of Bartow, Fla., died Sunday, April 22, 2001, at his residence. A native of Seymour, Ind., the Rev. Bodeen moved to Bartow 37 years ago from Panama City. He was a minister with Evangel Temple Inc. of Bartow for many years. He was preceded in death by his parents, the Rev. A.L. Bodeen and Cora L. Bodeen. He is survived by his fiancee, Sue Lanier of Dundee, Fla. ; two aunts, Hazel Golden of Columbus, Ga., and Rosie Vandergrift of Panama City. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 25, at 4 p.m. at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home in Bartow, Fla. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m.
