Mrs. Anna Marie Gaffney, 90, of Panama City, Fla., died Friday, May 18, 2001, in Gulf Coast Medical Center. She was born in Blackwell, Okla., and was married to the late LTC. William F. Gaffney. The Gaffney's moved to Panama City upon retirement of Col. Gaffney from the U.S. Army in 1960. Mrs. Gaffney is survived by two sons, Richard L. Gaffney Sr. of Fayetteville, N.C., and Michael J. Gaffney Sr. of Panama City; one sister, Margie Group of Seattle, Wash.; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. A visitation and memorial service will be held today, May 22, at 11 a.m. in Southerland Family Funeral Home Chapel. Graveside funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, May 24, at 11 a.m. in Oakwood Cemetery, Concord, N.D. Hartsell Funeral Home (460 Branchview Dr., NE, Concord, N.C. 28025, 704-786-1161) will be in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Garner, age 66, of 1805 Wilmont Ave., died Saturday, May 19, 2001. Born Jan. 24, 1935, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, Mr. Garner had been a resident of Panama City since 1969, and is retired from Textron Marine. Mr. Garner is survived by his wife, Linda L. Garner; two sons, Bruce L. Garner and his wife, Colette, of Panama City, Rick Garner, of Stratford, Okla.; six daughters, Diana Queen and her husband, Russell, of Pensacola, Leann Symmonds of Panama City, Michelle Pate and her husband, Roy, of Panama City, Nina Vigil of Norfolk, Va., Elma Garner of Stratford, Okla., Linda Imperio of Norfolk, Va; three brothers, Buck Garner and his wife, Billie, of Nogalas, Ariz., Bob Garner and his wife, Sandy, of Green Valley, Ariz., and Ronald Garner of Tracy, Calif.; two sisters, Bonnie Morris and her husband, Dewy, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, and Karen Garner of Idaho Falls, Idaho; grandson, Steven Garner of Panama City; 17 other grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. Services will be held today, May 22, at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel at 4 p.m. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Asked to be active pallbearers are Robert Clemons, Robert Harper, William Holcomb, Stephen Knight, Kenneth Brock and Johnny Brock. Services will be conducted by Kenneth Brock.

Robert Andrew Hubbard, age 64, of West Beach Drive, died at home, after a long battle with lung cancer, on Saturday afternoon, May 19, 2001. He died quietly and peacefully with his loving and caring wife at his side. Robert was a resident of Panama City and a member of St. Dominic's Catholic Church, since 1967. Robert was born at home in Hubbardville, Calif., on the family's ranch, in a big farm house that his father and uncles built. He started his education in a one room country school house, with a teacher who taught first grade through seventh. Lone Star School was three miles from the Hubbard ranch and Robert and his dog, Tippy, walked those three miles every day. They played all along the way, and Tippy all day long sat outside the school house and waited for him. Robert graduated from Placer Union High School in Auburn, Calif. He attended American River Junior College, joined the USAF during the Korean Conflict and completed his college education while in the Air Force. In the Air Force he began his career in electronics. Robert met his wife to be, Norma Grace, in New Orleans, at the height of the Mardi Gras season, and they fell in love. It was a first love for both. And a lasting love. After his discharge from the Air Force Robert worked for Civil Service, at McClellan AFB, Calif., in electronics. While at McClelland, Robert submitted suggestions to the Air Force and his ideas were implemented throughout the Air Force. Robert was named Civilian of the Year. In l967, he transferred firom McClellan AFB-a promotion-to Tyndall AFB. He retired from Civil Service in 1972, and later went back into the work force, at Marine Electronics, and worked there another ten years before retiring again. Robert enjoyed doing church work, volunteering for the Friends of the Library, gardening, wood working and making porcelain. Robert is preceded in death by his parents, Robert A, Hubbard Sr. and Catherine (Kate) Williams Hubbard and a brother, Timothy Hubbard. Robert is survived by his wife, Norma Hubbard; a brother, Terrance Hubbard (Toyo); an uncle, Pat Williams, all of California; a sister-in-law, Marlene Grace; brother-in-law, Leonard Grace (Myrtle Joy), of New Orleans, La; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. A very special thank you to Drs. Sidney A. Daffin III; Ted Wilson and Robert Joseph, and their staff, for all of their fine, outstanding care of Robert during his long illness. Flowers are accepted, or donations in Robert's name may be made either to St. Dominic' s Catholic Church's building fund; or the Friends of the Library, or the Emerald Coast Hospice. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today, May 22, at Kent Forest Lawn Funeral Home. ARosary will be said at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 23, at 10 a.m., a funeral Mass will be celebrated by Msgr. William A. Crowe at St. Dominic's Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Catholic Cemetery. Asked to serve as active pallbearers are Gary Warriner, Bruce Greene, W.T. Stewart, John Cheshire, Vincent Domico, Joseph Rosignoli and Richard Berndt. Honorary pallbearers will include Jimmy Hentz and the Knights of Columbus Council No. 3599.

Evelyn "Billie" Jones, of Panama City, died Sunday, May 20, 2001, in a local hospital. She had been a resident of Panama City since 1939 and was a member of the Advent Christian Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Martin Jones. She is survived by a daughter, Karen Sansbury; granddaughter, Laurie Sansbury; and a grandson, Kevin Sansbury. Funeral services will be held today at 3 p.m. in Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Wendell Owenby officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers are: Richard Cannon, Harold McLeod, Carl Vignali, Jesse Dula, French Napper and Don Anderson.

Mrs. Grace M. Renwick, age 80, of Panama City, Fla., passed away Sunday, May 20, 2001, at a local nursing facility. She was a native of Buffalo, N.Y., and had lived in Panama City since 1962, moving here from Oregon. Mrs. Was a member of the Parkway Presbyterian Church and the NCO Wives Club. She had been a volunteer for the American Red Cross for 30 years at Tyndall Air Force Base, receiving many commendations and awards for her service. Mrs. Renwick was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Eugene A. Renwick. She is survived by many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews; special friends, Kathryn Siracuse, Eunice Hudspeth and Joy and Don Pettersen; and many friends and acquaintances. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, May 23, at Parkway Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Stacey Wells officiating. The family will receive friends at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home today, May 22, 2001, from 6 to 8 p.m.

Mrs. Julie A. Thomas, 72, loving mother of Laura Schouweiler and beloved grandma of Ciera and Michele, passed away Friday, May 18, 2001, in Beverly Healthcare Emerald Shores Nursing Home. Julie was a native of New London, Ky., and was the late wife of Earl B. Thomas. Survivors include two daughters; three sons; 11 grandchildren; and many close friends.

Evelyn Turner, of Panama City, Fla., received a permanent change of duty station orders on May 10, 2001, to report to the Supreme Commander, with no delay enroute. She had served at this earthly station for 78 years, 56 years of which was spent with mate and husband, Barron R. Turner. Others left at this station included two sisters and numerous nieces and nephews. A change of duty ceremony will be held at LAFRA, Branch 346 on Wilkerson Ave., Panama City Beach at 1900 hours (7 p.m.) 23 May 2001. Signed X.O. J.C

Todd O. Brown, age 29, of Fishers, Ind., died Tuesday, May 22, 2001, as a result of an auto accident. He was a graduate of Noblesville High School and Vincennes University and was a member of Sigma Nu Fraternity. He held his private pilot license and was an avid golfer.Todd worked at APEX. He is survived by his wife, Tammy Brown of Fishers, Ind.; his father, Ron Brown and wife Cheryl of Panama City Beach; mother, Bert Brown of Noblesville, Ind.; brother, Chad Brown of Noblesville; grandparents, Ron and Irene Brown of Indianapolis; stepsisters, Sharon, JoAnn and Tamsin, all of Panama City; half sister, Rebecca of Panama City. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 26, at 10 a.m., Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Noblesville with the Rev. James R. Bates officiating. Burial will follow in Crownland Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday, May 25, and Randall and Roberts from 4 to 8 p.m. Randall and Roberts Funeral Home in Noblesville, Ind., is in charge of the arrangements.

Jeanne passed away on April 24, 2001 in Pittsburgh, Pa., and was a current resident of Bay Point. A graveside service will be held at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home on Friday, May 25, at 10 a.m. with Father Martin Bratek, C.R. officiating. Friends and loved ones are welcomed to attend.

A Celebration of Life for Mrs. Ruth H. Garcia, 75, of Port St. Joe, Fla., who died May 22, 2001, will be conducted on Friday, May 25, 2001, at 2 p.m. EDT in Oak Grove Assembly of God Church with the Rev. David Fernandez officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home this evening from 7 to 8:30 p.m. EDT. Mr. Daniel "Dan" Ponder Sr., age 71, of 322 Lakepoint Rd., Compass Lake, Fla. died Monday, May 21, 2001 at his home. He was born in Opelika, Ala. and was a resident of Cottonwood, Ala. for 30 years. Mr. Ponder was the president of Beall Peanut Co. before retiring and moving to Panama City in 1984. He spent the last three years as a resident of Compass Lake. Mr. Ponder enjoyed golfing, fishing, and traveling on their boat "The Why Knot". He also loved his grandchildren. Mr. Ponder served in the U. S. Army and was a member of Woodlawn Methodist Church in Panama City. He was also a past member of the Bay Point Yacht Club and past president of Krewe of Dominique Youx. Mr. Ponder is survived by his wife, Josephine Ponder of Compass Lake; two sons, Daniel "Dan" E. Ponder Jr. and his wife Mary Lou and Ernest Ponder and his wife Karen all of Donalsonville, Ga.; a daughter, Josephine Hasler and her husband Jim of Roswell, Ga.; a sister, Mary Hunta Owens of Auburn, Ala.; grandsons: Stephen Hasler of Roswell, Ga. and Davis Ponder of Donalsonville, Ga.; and granddaughters: Catherine and Elizabeth Ponder and Bailey and Addison Ponder all of Donalsonville. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Thursday, May 24 at First Baptist Church of Cottonwood, Ala. with the Rev. Lattie Collins and the Rev. Ron Ball officiating. Interment will follow at Cottonwood City Cemetery. Asked to serve as active pallbearers are: Dewey Cameron, Larry Smith, Bob Buch, Dennis Sculley, Ferelle Wood, and Robert Ham Honorary pallbearers will include:Johnny Beauchamp, Pete Albright, Bill Ward, Buren Wells, and Fletcher Barnes, and the "Romeo Golf Group" (Retired Old Men Enjoying Ourselves.).
