Funeral services for Leslie Leon Elam, 84, of 2 Sewanee Circle, Panama City, who died Tuesday, May 28, 2001, in a local hospital, will be held today at 10 a.m. in Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Dewey Davidson officiating. Graveside funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. in Roselawn Cemetery in Calico Rock, Ark. Honorary pallbearers are members of Fellowship Sunday School Class, the Oakland Terrace Men's Club and John Tinney and Steve Cajote. Those desiring to may make a donation to the Vision 21 program of St. Andrew Baptist Church in memory of Leslie Leon Elam.

JEANNA G. HALL
Mrs. Jeanna G. Hall, age 61, of Panama City, Fla., went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 29, 2001, at a local hospital. She had been a lifetime resident of the area. Mrs. Hall was a homemaker and was Christian by faith. She is survived by three daughters, Colicia Hall Reeves and her husband Lee of Fort Myers, Fla., and Vickie L. Hall and fiance Mike Thompson and Angela Hall Schulte and her husband Joseph, all of Panama City; three sons, Chuck Hall and his wife Brigit of Atlanta, Ga., Wayne Hall and his wife Patricia and Derik Hall and his wife Jennifer, all of Lynn Haven, Fla.; her mother, Addie Mae Clune and her husband Don of Panama City; a sister, Linda Cook of Panama City Beach; two brothers, Wayne Green of Memphis, Tenn., and Jerry Green of Valencia, Calif.; two aunts, Bertha Norris and Christine Scott, both of Panama City; 12 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy J. Hall. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 31, 2001, at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jack Duplechain officiating. Interment will follow at Lynn Haven Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today, May 30, from 6 to 8 p.m.

JOHN WALTER HUNT
The Rev. John Walter Hunt, age 81, of 517 Transmitter Road, Springfield, Fla., died Monday, May 28, 2001, at a local hospital. He had been a resident of the area since 1948, coming to Panama City from Alabama. The Rev. Hunt was the pastor and the founder of Springfield Community Church. Before starting Springfield Community Church, he was the pastor of six Assembly of God Churches in Alabama. He was a chaplain for the United States and the state of Florida. The Rev. Hunt was listed in the Florida Who's Who and was the Florida Delegate for the National Prayer Breakfast. Five hundred ministers are licensed with The Living Word of Faith Fellowship Ministries. He also established 155 churches in the United States; 142 in Kenya, Africa; six in Haiti; one church in Jamaica; three in Israel; three in Mexico; 400 churches in the Philippines; and one church in South America, Chile. He also established a college for the deaf, a bible college, an orphanage, an American Indians ministry, and a prison ministry. The Rev. Hunt is survived by his wife of 61 years, Velma V. Hunt of Springfield; five daughters, Barbara Gilbertson and her husband Leland of Springfield, Glenda Baxley and her husband Hubert of Callaway, Brenda Gibbs and her husband Larry F. of Wewahitchka, and Eloise Todd and her husband Wade and Wanda Hunt, all of Springfield; 13 grandchildren, Debra Davis, Melodee Sweeney, Clay Baxley, Cole Baxley, John Gibbs, Kimberley Ludlam, Kara Taunton, Misty Byrd, Al Kirvin Jr., Kendra Rowswell and Ginger Kirvin; 16 great-grandchildren; a brother, the Rev. Fred Hunt of Florala, Ala.; and sister, Naomi Bennett of Panama City. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, May 31, at Springfield Community Church with the Rev. Elton Haddock, and the Rev. T.P. Martin officiating. Assisting in the service will be the Rev. James Smitherman, the Rev. Fred Hunt, and the Rev. George McFatter. Entombment will follow at Garden of Memories. Asked to serve as active pallbearers are Clay Baxley, Al Kirvin Jr., Cole Baxley, Brandon Davis, John Gibbs, Brett Davis and Beau Ludlam. The Rev. Hunt will be lying in state at Springfield Community Church in Springfield beginning at 10 a.m. today, May 30, until service time. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Springfield Community Building Fund, 1101 J.W. Hunt Blvd., Springfield, FL 32404.

Funeral services for the Rev. Hugh K. Shepard, 89, of 611 Radcliff Ave., who died Monday, May 28, 2001, in his home, will be held today at 3 p.m. in Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Adrian Shepard officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Those desiring to may make a donation to Advent Christian Church organ fund in memory of the Rev. Hugh K. Shepard. Active pallbearers are Gerald Bass, J.A. Buchanan, Roy E. Ray, Timothy Buchanan, Wendell Owenby, Jesse Dula, Carl Vagnali and Ken Shealy. Honorary pallbearers are Men's Sunday School Class of Millville Advent Christian Church and West Bay Advent Christian Church and Dr. Marion Mathews.

SAM BARBARIAN
Mr. Sam Barbarian, age 76, of 3530 Eagle Lane, Panama City, Fla., passed away Wednesday, May 30, 2001, in a local hospital. He was raised in Bay County since he was nine years old. Mr. Barbarian was a member of Springfield Cornmunity Church, member of the Ira Lindsey Masonic Lodge served 23 years with the U.S. Navy and worked on Oil Supply Boats. Mr. Barbarian is survived by his wife, Lois Barbarian of Panama City.; two daughters, Angela Saige and Samantha Barbarian, both of Panama City; three granddaughters, Allison Flynn of Panama City, Christina Flynn and Jacqueline Flynn, both of Fort Walton Beach; one great-great-granddaughter, Shelby Brock of Panama City; one sister, Elizabeth Stephens of Alford; 10 nieces, seven nephews, 17 great-nieces, and seven great-nephews; one sister-in-law. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, June 1, at Springfield Community Church with the Rev. Warren Wright officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Cemetery with full military honors conducted by the U.S. Navy, and Masonic graveside rites conducted by the Ira Lindsey Lodge. The Masonic Lodge will open one hour before service time. The family will receive friends at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home today, May 31, from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

MEARL W. 'MAMA DAY' DAVIS
Mrs. Mearl W. "Mama Day" Davis, 92, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 27, 2001. Born in Geneva, Ala., she moved here in 1936 from Bonifay, Fla., and was a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church. Her husband, Al "Doc" Davis and a granddaughter, Pamela Sue Fuller Quick, precede her in death. Mrs. Davis is survived by two sons, Aubrey Davis and wife Louise of Panama City, Fla., B.J. Davis and wife Helen of Eufaula, Ala.; three daughters, Wilma Fuller, Robbie Sims and husband Gene, Alecia Sanders and husband Curtis, all of Panama City; one sister, Betty Martin and husband George; 11 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, nine great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted today, May 31, at 10 a.m. in Southerland Family Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Charles Key and the Rev. Virgil Vickers officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Davis' grandsons will serve as pallbearers, Steve Sims, Ronnie Sims, Louie Consoli IV, Sam Denham, Barry Davis and Al Davis. The family will be staying at 2702 Gornall Ave., Panama City.

VERA PHYLLIS DENNIS
Vera Phyllis Dennis, 81, of Lakeland, Fla., died Wednesday, May 30, 2001, in a Lakeland hospital. She had been a resident of Bay County since 1942, moving to Tallahassee five years ago and then to Lakeland three years ago. She was a former member of the Eastern Star. Mrs. Dennis was preceded in death by her husband, Durwood Allen Dennis, one sister, and a granddaughter. She is survived by four daughters, Shirley Baur, Katie Bedford, both of Tallahassee, Sandra Serletic of Lakeland, Mary M. Segler of Panama City; two sons, Duane A. Dennis of Valrico, Fla., and Roy C. Dennis of Melbourne, Fla.; 15 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Graveside funeral services will be held Saturday at 12 p.m. in Evergreen Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Paul Donaldson officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 11 to 11:45 a.m.

ELINOR NEWMAN DOLLAR
Mrs. Elinor Newman Dollar, 64, of Panama City, Fla., passed away May 19, 2001, in a local medical facility. Born in Leesburg, Fla., she moved here many years ago. Elinor had been a teacher for more than 30 years and was known for her personal trademark, a school bell, which she rang by hand to usher her classes in. She had been an Episcopalian by faith and attended church until she was overcome by her illness. Elinor is survived by her caring and devoted son, Joseph Charles Dollar, who stayed by her side and took care of her daily needs. Other survivors include numerous family members and close friends both here and in Leesburg. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 2, in Shiloh Cemetery in Leesburg, Fla., with Page-Theus-Blanchard Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

JAMES A. HADAWAY
James A. Hadaway, age 66, of Panama City, passed away Wednesday, May 30, 2001, at his residence. He was a native of Tennessee, and had lived in Panama City for 31 years, moving here from Virginia. He was retired after 23 years in the U.S. Navy, serving during the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam era. He later worked as a boat captain on ocean-going tug boats. Mr. Hadaway attended the Salvation Army Church. Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Velma Hadaway of Panama City; three sons, B. Austin Hadaway and wife Donna of Bayou George, Johnathan Lee Hadaway and wife Sherry of Fort Worth, Texas, and David Hadaway and wife Theresa of Bayou George. He was predeceased by his "Second Mother," best friend and sister-in-law, Lois Cherry. Also surviving are three sisters, Doris Williams and husband Bob and Rebecca Cooper, both of Clushatta, La., and Nina Rentz and husband Jerome of Houston, Texas.; his former daughter-in-law, Linda Crosby of Fort Walton Beach; and his grandchildren, James Austin, Jennifer, Johnathan David, Amanda Marie, David A., Caley, Rachel, and Alena. Memorial services will be held at a date to be announced later.
