Mrs. Linda Jane Richards, 45, passed away Saturday, July 7, 2001, in Panama City. She was a long time resident of Franklin County and was a homemaker. Survivors include her husband, Glenn Richards of Apalachicola; her children, Ruby Moore and husband Chris of Eastpoint, Stephanie Scofield and Joe Richards, both of Apalachicola; three grandchildren, Christopher Wells, Ashley Moore and Amanda Moore, all of Eastpoint; her mother, Rose Chumney of Tallahassee; and her sisters, Mary Frances Chumney of Tallahassee, Ruby Shell of Apalachicola, Ginger Bishop of Tallahassee, and Betty Carman of Panama City. The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. (CDT), Monday, July 9, 2001, at the First United Methodist Church of Wewahitchka, conducted by the Rev. Lois Long. Interment will follow in the family plot in Roberts Cemetery. She will lie in state at the church from 2 to 4 p.m. (CDT) today.

QUINCY H. MARLOW
Mr. Quincy Herbert Marlow, 70, of Panama City, passed away Saturday, July 7, 2001, at a local health center. Mr. Marlow was born in Black, Ala., on July 4, 1931, and is a longtime resident of Bay County. He was in aviation with the U.S. Navy, where he served in the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War and was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Pensacola. Mr. Marlow is preceded in death by his wife, Madie McClenny Marlow. He is survived by his mother, Lois McClenny; two sons, Mike Marlow of Panama City and Mitchell Marlow of Atlanta, Ga.; two daughters, Lydia Bradley and husband, Pat of Pensacola and Susan Wertz of Panama City; seven grandchildren, Lisa Jones, Mitzi Dykes, Alfred Patrick Bradley IV, Daniel Marlow, Mari Marlow, Mitchell Marlow Jr. and Shirley Marlow. and four great-grandchildren, Cody, Luke ,Kylie and Bradley. Funeral services will be conducted today, July 9, 2001, at 2 p.m. in the Southerland Family Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Floyd Wright officiating. Interment will follow at Greenwood cemetery with Navel military Honors. Asked to serve as pallbearers are Alfred Pat Bradley III, Alfred Pat Bradley IV. Daniel Chase Marlow, Fadi Sidani, Joel Margules, and Melvin Jackson. Honorary Pallbearers are Norman McClenny, Frank Hundley and Dr. Victor Ortega.

JAMES CURTIS MELVIN
James Curtis Melvin, age 19 of Panama City, passed away Sunday, July, 7, 2001, from injuries received in an automobile accident. He was a native and lifelong resident of Bay County, and was a pipe welder for Constructors Contracting Company. He was a graduate of the Rutherford High School Class of 2000 and attended Haney Vo-Tech School where he studied welding. He attended the Bible Believer's Church. He enjoyed fishing and everything outdoors, and called himself and his brothers the "Mullet Masters." He is survived by his parents, Charles and Marsha Melvin of Panama City; three brothers, Charles Melvin Jr., and wife, Donna of Panama City, John Wesley Melvin Sr. and wife, Theresa of Southport, and David Allen Melvin and fiancee, Patricia Welch of Panama City; his fiancee, Terri Russ of Southport; his grandmother, Doris Melvin of Panama City; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 11, 2001, at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Greg Rhinehart officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Asked to serve as pallbearers are B.J. Burkett, Matt Warmack, Tony Warren, Terry Russ, Aaron Lovett and Scott McNeal. SHELBY HINTON PARNELL
Shelby Hinton Parnell, the loving wife of Roy L. Parnell, passed away on July 7, 2001. She is survived by her mother, Lennis; husband, Roy; sons, Adam and Clay; grandchildren, Abby, Claire, Clayton and Katie; brother, Randy, his wife, Kay and their daughters, Kari and Adrian. Shelby was the daughter of Lennis Keener Hinton and the late Almond R. Hinton. Shelby was raised in Nash County, North Carolina with her older sister, Betty and younger brother, Randy. They grew up in a wonderful atmosphere, surrounded by a large community of uncles, aunts and cousins. She attended N.C. Baptist Hospital where she received her nursing degree. She joined the Army Nursing Corp in 1960 and met her future husband while stationed at Fort Sam Houston, Texas. Roy was her patient, and six months later they were married in Clarksville, Tenn. On September 23, 2001, they would have celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary. Shelby and Roy spent almost 31 exciting years in the Army. She left the military in 1962 prior to having her first child, Adam R.L. Parnell, in 1963 at Fort Campbell, Ky. Her second son, Clayton R. Parnell was born in 1965 while they were stationed in Germany. In 1972 they settled in Atlanta, Ga. Shelby was a loving and caring mother who spent her children's childhood years volunteering with the Red Cross. Upon their arrival in Atlanta, Shelby began working at West Paces Ferry Hospital and continued working there until her retirement in 1993. In 1994 Shelby and Roy moved to Panama City Beach, where Shelby enjoyed cooking and the year-round gardening and easy lifestyle. Shelby will be remembered as a strong-willed, confident, considerate woman; a wonderful and loving wife; a caring sister; a devoted and encouraging mother; a thoughtful and loving mother-in-law; and an attentive "Gran" who enjoyed her grandchildren. DEMPSEY JAMES LOUIS BARRON
Dempsey James Louis Barron, state senator, lawyer and cattle rancher, died at home on Saturday, July 7, 2001, at 4:23 a.m. Senator Barron was born in Rose Hill, Ala., on March 5, 1922. He moved to Panama City with his family at the age of two. He was a member of the Civilian Conservation Corps and served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific and European theatres in World War II. He was aboard the USS Chicago when it was sunk. Senator Barron graduated from Florida State University and the University of Florida College of Law and returned to Panama City to practice law. He owned several local motels and the D-Bar Ranch in Caryville, Fla. He was elected to the Florida House of Representatives in 1956 and 1958. He was elected to the Florida Senate in 1960 and served until 1988. He was the 69th President of the Florida Senate (1974-1976), President Pro-Tempore (1966-1968), Rules Chairman for five Senate presidents and Chairman of the Senate Reapportionment Committee (1980-1982). Public viewing will be at the Florida State University Conference Center in Panama City today, July 9, from noon to 4 p.m. CDT. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. CDT at the Conference Center. A memorial service and celebration will be held on Tuesday, July 10, at 2 p.m. CDT at the Amy Tapper Auditorium at Gulf Coast Community College in Panama City. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that contributions may be made to the Big Bend Hospice Foundation, 1723 Mahan Center Boulevard, Tallahassee, FL 32308 or the Florida State University Foundation, 225 University Center, Building C, Suite 3100, Tallahassee, FL 32306. Senator Barron was preceded in death by his son, Stephen Barron. He is survived by his wife, Terri Jo Barron of Tallahassee; his son, Stuart Barron of Panama City; his granddaughter, Shannon Barron of Quincy; two sisters, Hazel Boggs of Lynn Haven and Glindel Lopez of Alexandria, Va.; two brothers, Douglas Barron of Pensacola and Darrell Barron of Panama City; 11 nieces and nephews, three grandnieces and four grandnephews. MILLIE M. HOLLEY
Millie M. Holley, 90, of Chipley, died Sunday morning July 8, 2001, at her residence. Mrs. Holley was a lifelong resident of Washington County. She is survived by her husband, R.C. Holley; two daughters, Leana Pearl and husband, Moddy Boutwell of Graceville, and Edna E. Lynn of Dunnellon; one sister, Audrey B. Tauton of Lynn Haven; 16 grandchildren; 17 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mrs. Holley will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 11, 2001, in the Williams Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Lee Allen officiating. Burial will follow in the Wachob-Forest Lawn memorial cemetery in Chipley. The family will receive friends Tuesday, July 10, 2001, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Williams Funeral Home of Graceville.

FENDORA BATCHELOR
Mrs. Fendora Batchelor, 80, of Panama City, Fla., died Monday, July 9, 2001, in a local hospital. Born in Alabama, she bad been a resident of this area for 51 years. She was a retired school teacher from the Bay County School Board. She taught at Oakland Terrace and Northside elementary schools. Her husband of over 40 years, Q.D. Batchelor, preceded her in death. Mrs. Batchelor is survived by one son, Ray Batchelor; one daughter, Joy Batchelor, both of Atlanta; grandchildren Courtney, Christopher and Cole. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, July 11, 2001, at 11 a.m. in St. Andrews Methodist Church with the Rev. Ed Britton officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home this evening from 5 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Andrews Methodist Church for the new Children's Wing, in memory of Mrs. Batchelor.

Edna Rowena McMillan Caudle, 85, Springfield, Mo., a former 35-year resident of Panama City, died in Springfield, Mo., July 6, 2001. Services and burial were held Monday, July 9, in Springfield, Mo. Greenlawn Funeral Home in Springfield was in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Billy Joe "Pete" Moseley Sr., age 67, of 2713 Altha Ave., Panama City, Fla., died Sunday, July 8, 2001, at his home. He had been a resident of the area since 1949, coming here from Mobile, Ala. Mr. Moseley attended First United Pentecostal Church and was a member of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Local No. 229. He loved to build race cars and to ride the back roads. Mr. Moseley was the founder of the Moseley Racing Team. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Rebecca Ruth Moseley of Panama City, Fla.; his children, Billy Joe Moseley Jr. and his girlfriend Bonnie Withart of Callaway, Fla., Corbitt Moseley and his wife Robin of Youngstown, Fla., Rhonda Barron and her husband Donnie of Callaway, Fla., David Moseley and his wife Tayne of Springfield, Fla., Greg Moseley of Youngstown, Fla., Clinton Moseley of Springfield, Fla., Todd Moseley and his wife Lisa, Clifton Moseley and his girlfriend Brandy, and Robin Moseley, all of Youngstown, Fla.; 16 grandchildren, Geoffrey Moseley, Jerry Moseley, Jennifer Moseley, Chris Sanders, Michael Moseley, Bryan Moseley, Ashley Moseley, Donald Lemasters Jr., Matthew Lemasters, Joseph Lemasters, Michael David Moseley, Pamela Moseley, Nikki Moseley, Jeremy Moseley, David Edward Moseley, Heather Cook Moseley and Alissa Cook Moseley; and nine great-grandchildren, Shawna Moseley, Misty Moseley, Austin Moseley, Jacob Beatly, Nathaniel Sanders, Coty Sanders, Kristen McConnell, McKenzi Moseley, and Stephanie.
