J.V. SUGGS
J.V. Suggs, 86, of 130 Lakeridge Drive, Panama City, died Saturday, July 21, 2001, in his home. He was born in Campbellton, Fla., but resided in Panama City for most of his life. He was self-employed in the grocery business for many years, but at the time of his retirement, he was employed by Wehadkeeyarn of West Point, Ga., as captain of their recreational yacht. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Panama City where he served as Deacon and a active member of the LLL Sunday school class. He was also a member of the Acme Masonic Lodge #222 and was a Shriner. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Gladys Hilton Suggs; sister, Bertha Eddins and her husband, Jack of Panama City Beach; brother, Thomas Oscar Suggs of Lynn Haven; 2 sisters-in-law, Laura Bell Suggs of Parker and Virginia Hawthorne of Panama City; brother-in-law, Pete Hilton and his wife, Eddie of Marianna, Fla.; special friend and caregiver, Teresa Thorpe of Panama City and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 2 p.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Craig Conner and the Rev. Bruce Raley officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 3 to 5 p.m. today. Those desiring to may make a contribution to the Miracle of Love Fund of First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 1200, Panama City, FL 32402 in memory of J.V. Suggs.

INITA S. JOINER
Mrs. Inita S. Joiner, age 79, of 102 Camelot Circle, Panama City, Fla., passed away Sat, July 21, 2001, at her residence. She had lived in Panama City for fifty years, moving here from Alabama. Mrs. Joiner loved her church, "Temple Baptist" and gardening. She was survived by two daughters, Kitty Jean Mashburn and husband, Jimmy of Ala., Renee Baldwin and husband, Scott of Tenn.; a sister, Voncile Joiner of Panama City, Fla.; brother, Roy Sweatt of Fla.; 11 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren. She raised three grandchildren, Brenda Ritchie and husband, Mike of Panama City, Fla., Carol Mitchell and husband, Christopher of Panama City, Fla., Nick Scott and wife, Patty of Panama City, Fla. Mrs. Joiner was preceded in death by her husband, Emmitt Joiner, and two children, Glenda Cline and Ina Sue Scott. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, July 23, 2001, at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Taylor Hodges officiating. Asked to serve as active pallbearers are: Gary Duff, Greg Duff, Chris Mitchell, Keith Mashburn, Christopher Baldwin, Mike Strickland, Gregory Duff, and Corey Mashburn. Asked to serve as honorary pallbearers are: Berea Sunday School Class of Temple Baptist Church. Family will receive friends at the funeral home, today, July 22, 2001, from 6 to 8:00 p.m.

DEWEY BELTON CROWE SR.
Dewey Belton Crowe Sr., 84, of 1210 Oak Ave., Panama City, died Saturday, July 21, 2001, in a local hospital. He was a retired self-employed brick mason. He had been a resident of Panama City for 56 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Panama City and the Good News Sunday school class. He served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II. He is survived by his wife, Rheba Crowe; son, Dewey B. Crowe Jr. and his wife, Jackie; three grandchildren, Denise Crowe, Tim Crowe, Beth Crowe, all of Panama City; brother, Hoyt Crowe of Sumpter, S.C.; sister, Ruby Sponseller of Akron, Ohio; and a sister-in-law, Dorothy Sayles of Panama City. Graveside funeral services will be held on Monday at 10 a.m. in the Greenwood Cemetery with the Rev. Bruce Raley officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2 to 4 p.m. today. Those desiring to may make a contribution to the Building Fund of First Baptist Church of Panama City in memory of Dewey Crowe Sr.

Funeral services for Hazel Thomley Ingram, 70, of 412 Detroit Ave., Panama City, who died Friday, July 20, 2001, in her home, will be held on Monday at 2 p.m. in the Marvin Chapel Church, Marianna, with the Rev. Charles Carlton officiating. Interment will follow in the Marvin Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 3 to 5 p.m. today and at the church from 1 to 2 p.m. on Monday. Active pallbearers are Charles Hill, Adam Hill, Don Tinsley, Roy Rogers, Jason Jeter, and Robert Jones.

McGee of Panama City, Fla.; two sisters, Brenda Locklear and husband, Wadis of Panama City Beach, Fla., Sonya Pelham and husband, Claud of Graceville, Fla.; six nephews, Keith Pelham and wife, Cathy, Doug Pelham, Kevin Pelham, Tyler Pelham all of Graceville, Fla., Tommy Roush and wife, Tracy of Williston, Fla., Phillip Roush and wife, Kathy of Youngstown, Fla.; three aunts, Rita Speigner, Shirley Sanders, Dorothy Peterson, all of Panama City, Fla.; numerous great nephews and nieces; and two special friends, Muriel and Bo Whitehead. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 24, 2001, at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Glen Tate and Glenn Branham officiating. DEACON LEONARD FERRELL
Deacon Leonard Ferrell, 81, of River Falls, Ala., died Wednesday July 18, 2001. He was born March 11, 1920, to the late John and Clara Ferrell in Pigeon Creek, Ala. He was the third child born to his parents. He was preceded in death by a sister, Lucille Hayes; two brothers, Johnny Ferrell and Willie James Ferrell. His life and memory will be cherished by his loving wife, Bessie Mae Freeney Ferrel of River Falls; one niece he raised as his daughter, Melvie Ware of Panama City; two nieces, Mattie Bell Hayes and Edna Guilford (Grover), both of Panama City; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends. Funeral services for Mr. Ferrell will be held Tuesday, July 24, 2001, at 1 p.m. at the First Bethlehem Baptist Church, Highway 84 West, River Falls, Ala.. Interment will follow in the Bethlehem Cemetery. Family will receive relatives and friends locally at 510 East 13th St. Kirk's Funeral Home of Andalusia, Ala., is in charge of arrangements.

Karen Marie Stokes Whitener, 37, of Southport, Fla., died Saturday, July 21, 2001, in a local hospital. She had been a resident of Bay County for the past 5 years moving here from Perry, Ga., where she was a district manager for a convenience store. She was a member of the Sand Hills Baptist Church and the ADHD Support Group. She was also a volunteer with foster children. She was preceded in death by her husband, David Whitener; and her father, Charles Sidney Stokes. She is survived by her mother, Lee Stokes; two children, Brandon Whitener, Tiffany Whitener; three brothers, Michael Smith and his wife, Tracey, Gary Breeding and his wife, Debbie, Charles Stokes; two stepsisters, Sheila Branch and her husband, Eugene, Jacqueline Jones, and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Keith Gann officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. today.
