LUCY J. BOONE
Lucy J. Boone, 90, of 905 Clay Ave., Panama City, died Oct. 7 at her home after a brief illness. She was born in Hartford, Ala., the second oldest of six daughters born to George W. and Laura E. Jerkins. She grew up in Geneva, Ala., and as a young woman met and married her husband of 68 years, Earle A. Boone. She was a homemaker, a world-class mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Lucy valued above all else her family and friends, and was always ready to the very end of her life to prepare a home-cooked meal for any and all who came to her home. She is sorely missed by all who knew her. Her husband, Earle, predeceased her by four months. She is also predeceased by granddaughter Stephanie E. Boone and her oldest sister, Jewell Miller. She is survived by two sons, Earle M. Boone and wife Birthe, and Roy H. Boone and wife Margaret, six grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and four sisters. Memorial services will be held in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. C. Edward Britton officiating. Private burial services will follow at a later date in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Covenant Hospice or a charity of choice is suggested.

SUE COOPER
Sue Cooper, 81, of 215 S. Cove Terrace, Panama City, died Monday, Oct. 8, 2001, at her home. She had been a resident of Panama City since 1939. She established and operated Coopers News Agency and Coopers NewsStand with her husband, Glenn Cooper Sr., from 1940 to 1982. She served as president in many organizations including, Panama City Garden Club and Amaryllis Circle, Bay County Mental Health Association, and Operation Cinderella. She also served in many organization including the Life Management Center, Youth Center Board, Downtown Improvement Board, American Cancer Society, Bay Regional Detention Center, Democratic Executive Committee, the Chamber of Commerce and Committee of 100, Bay Medical Center Hospital Auxiliary and was a 1993 Jefferson Award finalist. She was a member of the Palo Alto Church of Christ. Sue was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Cooper Sr. She is survived by two sons, Glenn Cooper Jr. and his wife, Sylvia, of Lynn Haven, Ray Cooper and his wife, Joyce, daughter, June Lloyd and her husband, Bill Lloyd Sr., all of Panama City, eight grandchildren, Paige Marie Whitaker and her husband, Jeff, of Fernandina Beach, Fla., Glenn Cooper III and his wife, Marty, of Lynn Haven, William Lloyd Jr. and his wife, Jennifer, of Panama City, Jon Robert Lloyd and his wife, Nancy, of Barrington, R.I., Ray Cooper Jr. and his wife, Robin, of Easton, Md., Courtney Cooper of Annapolis, Md., Matthew Cooper of Panama City, Kyle A. Cooper of Oklahoma, seven great grandchildren, Hunter Reed Whitaker, Tara Marie Whitaker, both of Fernandina Beach, William P. (Trae) Lloyd III, Cameron Victoria Lloyd, both of Panama City, Tara McKenzie Cooper of Lynn Haven, Kristen Miller, Allison Miller, both of Barrington, three brothers, Jack Austin and his wife, Carol of Lake Isabella, Calif., Ray Austin of Charleston, S.C., Richard Austin of Arcadia, Fla., and a sister, Lucille Williford of Sarasota, Fla. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 6-8 p.m. Those desiring may make a contribution to the Bay Medical Auxiliary, the Life Management Center, or your favorite charity in memory of Sue Cooper.

NANCY JANE ENFINGER
Mrs. Nancy Jane Enfinger, 82, of Youngstown, Fla., died Sunday evening, Oct. 7, 2001, at her home. Born in Washington County, Fla., she moved here at age 16 from Washington County. She was a homemaker and was Protestant by faith. Her husband, Robert Eugene Enfinger, a brother, Mitchell McNeil, and a granddaughter, Robyn Stephens, precede her in death. Mrs. Enfinger is survived by two sons, Hayward Enfinger of Youngstown, Fla., and Charles Enfinger and wife Kim of Youngstown, Fla.; one daughter, Mary Lois Stephens and husband Larry of Bates City, Mo.; three brothers, David Rogers of Orange Hill, Fla., Henry Rogers of Bayou George, Fla., and Oliver McNeil of Greenhead, Fla.; five sisters, Mae Sapp, Fannie Kyser and Carolyn Nellums, all of Southport, Fla., Georgia Johnson and Amy Lee Taylor, both of Millville, Fla.; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2001, at 11 a.m. in the Southerland Family Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. David Buchanan officiating. Interment will follow in Brown Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home this evening from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

JACOB 'JAKE' POPE
Mr. Jacob "Jake" Pope, of 817 E. Eighth Court, died Sunday, Oct. 7, 2001, in a local hospital. He was a native of Jackson County and a resident of Panama City for many years. He was an auto mechanic and cab driver. He was a faithful member of Greater Bethel A.M.E. Church. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 44 years, Carrie W. Pope of Panama City; three sons, Timothy Coleman of Marianna, Jacob Pope Jr. (Sharon) of Richmond, Va., and Richard Pope (Tanna) of Birmingham, Ala.; five daughters, Catherlean Woods (Michael) of Ocala, Mary Lott (Ronnie) of Florida City, S. Renee Pope-Spence (Bruce), Kathy Jackson (Otis), and Shannon T. Pope, all of Panama City; mother-in-law, Mary Newman of Panama City; two sisters-in-law, Sadye Newman and Richie Barnes, both of Panama City; a very devoted nephew, Charles Weldon (Juanita) of Atlanta; 15 grandchildren, Torenzo, Roniquea and Teresa Lott, all of Florida City, Spc. Kevin Walker of Italy, Jeannette and Latoya Walker, Tyreka Black, Spc. Chris Jones and Cameron Pearson, all of Panama City; Maya, Michael Jr. and Jessica, all of Ocala; Jacob III and Sadye Pope, both of Richmond, Va.; and Yordyn Pope of Birmingham, Ala.; 11 great-grandchildren, one uncle, Charles Roulhac of Panama City; one aunt, Pecola Smiley of Port St. Joe; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services for Mr. Pope will be held Wednesday, Oct. 10, at noon in the Greater Bethel A.M.E. Church with the Rev. O.C. Williams, pastor officiating. Interment to follow in the Hillside Cemetery. The remains will repose at the church this evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and will lie in state at the church on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until service time. The family will receive relatives and friends at 817 E. Eighth Court.

Funeral services for Joseph (Joe) Delgado Ramirez, 79, who died Saturday, Oct. 6, 2001, in a local hospital will be held 10 a.m. today in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Father Marty Bratek officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers are Jack Cutchens, Harold Dykes, Harold McLeod, Walter Sherman, Lee Singleton, Delano Suggs, Doug Brock, and Don Roberts. THOMAS J. WEBB
Mr. Thomas J. Webb, 74, of 432 Iola St., Oak Grove, passed away Saturday, Oct. 6, 2001, at Gulf Coast Hospital following a short illness. He was born and raised in Apalachicola and served his country by entering the U.S. Navy during World War II. Mr Webb was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Port St. Joe, and the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry in Panama City, and retired from St. Joe Paper Company after 43 years. He is preceded in death by his mother, Ola Walker, his stepfather, Berry Walker, a brother, Robert Webb, and a half-sister, Marie Denton. Survivors include his wife, Shirley M. Webb of Port St. Joe; a daughter, Linda Kay Whitfield and husband David; a son, Mike Webb and wife Stacy, both of Howard Creek; one granddaughter, Joyelle Whitfield; two grandsons, George Whitfield and Channon Whitfield; and one great-granddaughter, Kristin Makayla Whitfield; all of Howard Creek; one sister, Alberta Lynn of Chiefland; one brother, Charles Webb Sr. and wife Lucille of Panama City. The funeral service will be at the Comforter Funeral Home Chapel 2 p.m. today. Interment will follow in the family plot in Holly Hill Cemetery. Carl Fox, Ray Miller, Jimmy Sims, Randy Walker, Chris Acree and Roy Conoley will serve as pallbearers and the Masons will serve as honorary pallbearers.

W.M. "Bill" Hiddleston, 75, of Panama City, died at his home Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2001. He was born in Oklahoma City, Okla., and lived in Fort Worth, Texas, for 20 years prior to moving to Panama City, where he resided for the past 10 years. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 12, at Forest Park United Methodist Church in Panama City with Dr. Kenneth Taylor officiating. MOODY KIRKLAND
Mr. Moody Kirkland, 89, of Panama City, passed away Monday, Oct. 8, 2001, at a local nursing facility. He was a native of Geneva County, Ala., and had lived in Bay County for 55 years. Mr. Kirkland retired from International Paper Co. in 1974 after 28 years of service. He attended Life and Praise Assembly of God and was a member of Callaway Lodge No. 369 F & AM. Mr. Kirkland is survived by his wife, Gladys Kirkland of Panama City, Fla.; two daughters, Delois Grant and her husband, Wilmer of Pensacola, Fla., and Earlene Piscitelli of Ocala, Fla.; six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Beulah Kirkland; and a son, Donald E. Kirkland. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 11, 2001, at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. John Broome officiating. Interment will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 11, 2001, at the St. John's Cemetery in Bonifay, Fla. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today, Oct. 10, 2001, from 5 until 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Life and Praise Assembly of God.
