J.L. GAY
J.L. Gay, 74, of Youngstown, Fla., died Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2001, in a local hospital. He born Jan. 8, 1927, in Jackson County, Fla. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He had been a resident of Bay County since 1954, moving here from Jackson County. He was a retired welder for H.G. Harders Construction Company. He was a member of the High Praise Worship Center. He is survived by five brothers, R.L. Gay and wife, Wanda, William L. Gay, Willie E. Gay and wife, Betty, George E. Gay and wife, Dianne, Horace Gay; two sisters, Thelma Lois Harris, Louise Kent and husband, J.P., and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. in the High Praise Worship Center, with Pastor Robert Gay officiating. Interment will follow in the Vickery Cemetery, Jackson County, Fla. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. Saturday.

DELIA MARIA GARCIA GOTTSHALL
Delia Maria Garcia Gottshall, of 217 S. Glades Trail in Panama City Beach, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2001, at 8 p.m. Death occurred at the Bay Medical Center, where she was admitted a few days ago. Delia, who was by family and friends known as Mary, was a native of the country of Panama. She was preceded in death by both parents. She was married to Clair Gottshall in the canal zone in 1955. The couple moved to Altoona, Pa., after Clair sought discharge from the Army. Shortly after arriving in Altoona, Mary attended Calvary Baptist Church and accepted Jesus Christ as her personal savior. The couple raised four children over the course of the next 18 years in the Altoona area. The family then moved to Winter Haven, Fla., in 1972, where Mary's husband Clair began working for State Farm Insurance. After a series of relocation and promotion moves to Texas, the couple moved to Summerfield, Fla., upon Clair's retirement form State Farm. Clair died shortly thereafter. Mary moved to the Panama City area in 2000 to be close to her oldest daughter. Mary was a devoted wife and mother. She was the type of woman everyone enjoyed having as a friend and neighbor. She was a very special person who brought joy and laughter to all. She will be missed by family and friends. Mary is survived by her daughters, Delia Hunt and her husband, David, of Panama City Beach, and Joanne Ewell and her husband, Victor, of Newnan, Ga.; her sons, Wayne Gottshall and his wife, Delores, of Pensacola, Fla., Charles Gottshall and his wife, Kim, of Wilmington, Del. Mary is also survived by seven grandchildren, Lauren and Amanda Hunt, Christopher Ewell, Christina and Savannah Gottshall, and Charlotte and Andy Gottshall. Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. today, Nov. 2, 2001, at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with her son, the Rev. Charles Gottshall officiating, along with the staff of the St. Andrew Baptist Church of which Mary attended. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today, Nov. 2, 2001, from 2 p.m. until service time. Burial will be at the Florida National Cemetery where her body will be interred alongside her husband's. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the St. Andrew Baptist Church.

MARIE R. STARKS
Mother Marie R. Starks, 89, of Panama City, Fla., died Saturday, Oct. 27, 2001, at Emerald Shore Nursing Home. The late Mother Marie R. Starks was born Aug. 2, 1912, in Brundidge, Ala., to Mr. Alonzo and Mrs. Sylvia Ramsey. She departed this earthly life on Saturday, Oct. 27, 2001. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alex Starks, and one son, Willie Charles Starks. She was a member of the Church of God in Christ in Atlanta, Ga., for many years where she served on the missionary board. She relocated to Panama City in 1999 and joined Antioch Temple C.O.G.I.C. where she attended faithfully as long as her health permitted. She leaves to cherish her memories her loving sister, Lillian (Willie) Moore; two devoted nephews and caretakers, Charles and Freddie Faison; two granddaughters, Anna Marie (Lee) Jackson of Cleveland, Ohio, and Laura Nicholson of Atlanta, Ga.; eight great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends. Funeral services for Mother Starks will be held Saturday, Nov. 3, 2001, at 11 a.m. in the Antioch Temple C.O.G.I.C. with Supt. John M. Gipson officiating. Interment will follow in the Hillside Cemetery. Public visitation will begin at the funeral home this afternoon from 1 to 8 p.m. The remains will be in state an hour prior to the services at the church. The family will receive friends at the residence of Willie and Lillian Moore, 158 Detroit Ave., Springfield, Fla.

LOUISE MERRILL WALDRON
Louise Merrill Waldron, of Panama City, died Thursday, Nov. 1, 2001, in a local hospital. She was a retired school teacher. She had been a resident of Panama City since 1973, moving here from Tampa, Fla. She is survived by a daughter, Merrill Ray, and her husband, Daniel, son, Neil Waldron, granddaughter, Mallory Ray, all of Panama City; two sisters, Jeanette Grant of Dozier, Ala., Anne Ray of Prattville, Ala.; and two brothers, Frank Merrill and Joe Merrill, both of Dothan, Ala. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Albert Rowell officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 to 7 p.m. today. The family will be at the home of Merrill Ray, 1111 Earl Ave., Panama City.

GERTRUDE STABLER WARREN
Mrs. Gertrude Stabler Warren, of Callaway, Fla., passed away Thursday, Nov. 1, 2001, of natural causes in Panama City. She was born in Sunflower, Ala., and had lived in Callaway since 1993. She was a lifetime resident of Quincy and Blountstown. She was a homemaker and a member of Forest Hills Methodist Church in Quincy and Callaway United Methodist Church in Callaway. She is survived by three sons, James F. Warren Jr. of Seattle, Wash.; Kenneth E. Warren of Tampa and Richard L. Warren of Bradenton; two daughters, Patricia Martin of Callaway and Barbara Holland of Gulf County, Fla.; three brothers, George Stabler of Quincy, Charles Stabler of Merritt Island, Fla., and Earl Stabler of Fort Myers; 12 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and friends. Family viewing will be held Saturday, Nov. 3 at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral service will be held Saturday, Nov. 3, 3:30 p.m. EST at Bevis, Sasser-Morgan,McClellan Funeral Home, 20 S. Duval St., Quincy, Fla.

Mr. Preston Anderson, 86, of 906 McGee Road, Bonifay, Fla., died Oct. 29, 2001, at Madison County Memorial Hospital in Madison, Fla. Mr. Anderson was born in Caryville, Fla., to the late Benjamin and Ada Anderson. He was a member of Caryville Baptist Church in Caryville, where he served as a deacon, church treasurer and men's Sunday school teacher. His wife, Flossie Johnson Anderson; brothers, Charley, Jesse, Willie, Rudolph, Walter and Russell preceded him in death. He is survived by one son, George Kenneth Anderson, of Bonifay, Fla.; two daughters, Cecelia Bendzyk and her husband, Bill, of Sacramento, Calif., Sharon Galloway and her husband, Don, of Valdosta, Ga.; four grandchildren, Greg Glaser (Christy) of Portland, Ore., Chris Glaser of Portland, Ore., Stephen Galloway of Valdosta, Ga., and Ben Galloway of Valdosta, Ga.; one great-grandchild, Sabrina Glaser of Portland, Ore.; one sister, Bessie Anderson of Panama City, Fla.; one special niece, Linda Dudley of Bonifay, Fla., and other family and friends. Mr. Anderson was a devoted husband and father. He was a caring and loving person by all that knew him and will be greatly missed. Funeral services will be held at Caryville Baptist Church, Caryville, Fla., on Sunday, Nov. 3, 2001 at 2 p.m. Interment will follow at Bonifay City Cemetery, Bonifay, Fla. The family will receive friends at Peel Funeral Home, Bonifay, Fla., from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Nov. 3, 2001.

SANDRA GAIL DANIELS BARFIELD
Ms. Sandra Gail Daniels Barfield, 50, of Panama City, Fla., passed away Thursday, Nov. 1, 2001, at her home. She was a former resident of Ashford, Ala., and had lived in Panama City since November 2000, and was a homemaker. She loved gardening, crafts, and cooking. Ms. Barfield is survived by her sons, Scott Ammons, Brian Ammons, and Jason Ammons, all of Panama City, Fla.; brothers, Sam Daniels of Panama City, Earl Daniels and his wife, Rhonda, of Ashford, Ala., and Obe S. Daniels Jr. and his wife, Janet, of Panama City, Fla.; grandchildren, and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by an infant son, Edward William Ammons Jr., and her parents, Obe and Helen Daniels. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 5, 2001, at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Dennis Olson officiating. Interment will follow at Lynn Haven Cemetery. Asked to serve as active pallbearers are Sam W. Daniels, Lawson Earl Daniels, Obe S. Daniels Jr., and Edward W. Funeral services for Mrs. Naomi Beach, 85, of 7735 Homestead Road, Panama City, Fla., who died Oct. 31, 2001, will be held at 10:30 a.m. today, Nov. 3, 2001, at Bear Creek Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Mr. Nolan Julious Finch, 83, of Chipley, Fla., passed away Sunday, Oct. 28, 2001, at Northwest Florida Community Hospital in Chipley. He had been a lifelong resident of Chipley. Mr. Finch enjoyed gardening, fishing, his grandchildren and his great-grandchildren. Mr. Finch was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Finch is survived by his wife of 59 years, Edna Ruth Finch, of Chipley; two sons, Don Finch of Chipley, Leonard Finch of Chipley; three daughters, Gwendolyn Ruth Pippin of Bonifay, Derlia Diane Adams of Buck Horn, Fla., Christine Pearson of Chipley; three brothers, Lincoln Finch of Chipley, Barney Finch of Homerville, Ga., Les Finch of Tallahassee; one sister, Annie Lois Long of New Smyrna Beach; 11 grandchildren, Alan Pippin, Dennis Adams, Joey Finch, Kelly Pippin, Tony Peters, Jennifer Harris, Kristie Rustin, Dawn Sellers, Lori Kolmetz, Johnny Finch, Amanda Goodman; 21 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Wednesday, Oct. 31 at 2 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home Chapel in Chipley with the Rev. Marc Harris officiating. Interment followed at Hard Labor Cemetery. Asked to serve as pallbearers were his grandsons.

Mike Lingo Gainer, 86, of Chipley, Fla., passed from this life on Thursday, Nov. 1, 2001 at his residence. He was a life long resident of Washington County, Fla. He was of the Free Will Faith and a member of the Piney Grove Free Will Baptist Church, Chipley, Fla. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 4, 2001, in the Chapel of Brown Funeral Home with the Rev. Tim Owens officiating. Burial will follow in Orange Hill Methodist Cemetery with Brown Funeral Home Directing. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Nov. 3, at Brown Funeral Home, Chipley, Fla. Survivors are two sons, Gene Boles, Southport and Johnny Boles, Tallahassee; two daughters, Joann Walsingham, Chipley, Fla., and Ann Alfassa, Miami; one sister, Gladys Camp, Bonifay, eight grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
