HOUSTON HOOVER BARBER
Houston Hoover Barber, 82, of Panama City, died Monday, Dec. 24, 2001, in his home. He was born Nov. 13, 1919, in Cottondale, Fla., and had been a resident of Panama City for 55 years. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a retired auto body shop repairman at Lloyd Pontiac Cadillac where he had worked for 36 years. He was a charter member of the Central Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Edith Barber; two sons, Larry Barber and wife, Janice, Jerry Barber and wife, Joyce, all of Panama City; nine grandchildren, Joshua Barber, Michael Barber, Emily Barber, Patrick Barber, Jessie Barber, Adam Barber, Jason Houseman, Allan Kirtsinger, Cindy Kirtsinger; two great grandchildren, Brandon Barber, Brayson Barber; and a brother, J.D. Cumbaa and wife, Tommie, of Cottondale. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Frank Starling and the Rev. John Barton officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday. Those desiring to may make a contribution to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association in memory of Houston Barber.

EDNA MAE HARPER
Edna Mae Harper, 79, of White City, Fla., passed away Sunday, Dec. 23, 2001. She was a current resident of the Geri-Care Assisted Living Facility at Beacon Hill Beach near Port St. Joe. She was originally from Sweetwater, Ala., and a long-time member of the White City Baptist Church. Edna was the wife of James L. Harper, who preceded her in death. Mrs. Harper is survived by her four children, Sarah Severson, of Titusville, Fla., Elizabeth (Libby) Alcorn, of Beacon Hill, Fla., Eugene Harper, of New Smyrna Beach, Fla., and Raymond Harper of White City; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Dec. 27, at 11 a.m. EST at the White City Baptist Church with the Rev. Nicky Davis and Dr. Oliver Harper officiating. Interment will follow in Holly Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. EST at Comforter Funeral Home.

SUE ANN LIPPINCOTT
Mrs. Sue Ann Lippincott, 84, of Panama City Beach, Fla., passed away Sunday, Dec. 23, 2001, at her home. She had been a resident of the area since June 1987, coming here from Chatsworth, N.J. Mrs. Lippincott retired from the New Jersey State Colony and was a homemaker for the elderly in New Jersey. She was also of the Catholic faith. Mrs. Lippincott is survived by her son, Arney Lippincott and his wife, Jeanette, of Panama City Beach; two grandchildren, Gail Oliver and her husband, Arthur, and Cynthia Curd, all of Panama City Beach; a brother, Charles Farner and his wife, Alice, of Willingboro, N. J.; a cousin, Agnes Ambrosia of Virginia Beach, Va.; two nieces, Claire Schneider of Panama City and Barbara Morino of Burlington, N. J.; five great-grandchildren, Michael Whittaker, April Dziedzic, Samantha Scott, Jere Oliver, and Jason Linville; and one great-great-grandchild, Micah Whittaker. Memorialization will be by cremation.

LOUISE SWANN 'WEE FAWN' FLINT
Mrs. Louise Swann "Wee Fawn" Flint, 80, of Panama City, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2001, at a local hospital. She was a resident of Panama City, moving here from Augusta, Ga., in 1984. Mrs. Flint was a member of the Forest Park United Methodist Church and a member of the American Legion Post No. 456 of Lynn Haven. She is survived by two daughters, Phyllis F. and husband, Ron Bartlup, and Donna Douglas, all of Lynn Haven; one son, Steven Mark Flint and his wife, Rachael, of Milton; eight grandchildren, Jimmy E. Bates, Michelle Bates, Angela Bates, John Paul Bates, Ronnie Barlup, Joseph Driggers, David Barlup and Jeffrey O. Douglas; and sister-in-law, Ellen Ostrander of Louisville, Ky. Mrs. Flint was preceded in death by her husband, Earl W. Flint; and a daughter, Billye Bates. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 28, at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today, Dec. 27, from 6 to 8 p.m.

JAMES MARTIN FLOYD
Mr. James Martin Floyd, 84, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2001, at a local hospital. A native of Cypress, Fla., he was a resident of Panama City for 61 years. Mr Floyd was an employee of I.P.C. for 35 years and a member of the Quarter Century Club. He was also a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Mr. Floyd enjoyed fishing and was a member of Callaway Assembly of God. He is survived by his wife, Mildred Floyd, of Panama City; one son, Joseph Raymond Floyd and his wife, Jeanne, of Lewiston, Idaho; three daughters, Ruth Tibbetts and her husband, Charles, of Panama City, Mary Gilmore and her husband, Billy Joe, of Wewahitcka, and Barbara Creel and her husband, Jimmy, of Panama City; two sisters, Myrtle Preston and Ruby Lee Harris, both of White City; two stepsons, Dwight Grainger of Valley, Ala., and Ralph Grainger of Panama City; two stepdaughters, Ann Kitts of Dothan and Sharon Scott of DeFuniak Springs; 23 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dannie, and daughter, Renee White. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dewey Myers and the Rev. Larry Bush officiating. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 28, at Cypress Cemetery, Cypress, Fla. Asked to serve as active pallbearers are Larry Grainger, Mike Sharp, Bill Green, Dwayne Creel, Roy Kitts and Greg Grainger. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today, Dec. 27, from 6 to 8 p.m.

VIRGIA SARA KELLEY
Mrs. Virgia Sara Kelley, 77, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2001, at her residence. A resident of Panama City since 1945, she was a native of Chipley, Fla. Mrs. Kelley was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints and a member of the North Bay Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband, T.G. Kelley, of Panama City; one daughter, Joan Bentley and her husband, Lionel, of Tucson, Ariz.; two stepdaughters, Barbara Morgan and her husband, Marvin, of Lynn Haven, and Janice Galbreath and her husband, Mac, of Milton; one sister, Brusiue Peel of Newberry, S.C.; six grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. A celebration of life will take place at 2 p.m. today, Dec. 27, at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jim Simmons and the Rev. Hayes Wise officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Asked to serve as pallbearers are Greg Galbreath, Russell Galbreath, H.B. Savage, Seth Savage, Keith Morgan and Matt Simmons. Honorary pallbearers will include the members of the North Bay Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today, Dec. 27, from 1 to 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Covenant Hospice.

Retired Lt. Col. John Frank Pope, 83, died Monday, Dec. 24, 2001, at the Houston Medical Center. Services will be held at 11 a.m. today, Dec. 27, at First Baptist Church of Warner Robins with interment following in Magnolia Park Cemetery. McCullough Funeral Home in Warner Robins, Ga., is in charge of the arrangements.

Bruce Tharpe, 79, of Eufaula, Ala., passed away to his maker Saturday, Dec. 22, 2001, in his home. Bruce was born in August of 1922 in Dale County, Ala. He was a resident of Lynn Haven for 20 years. He was a Free Mason of Albany, Ga., and was also a member of the Scottish Rite of Panama City. He retired from civil service at Tyndall Air Force Base in Panama City. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Mary, of 58 years; two sons, Barney Tharpe and wife, Jan, and Jimmy Tharpe, both of Atlanta, Ga.; one grandson, Craig Tharpe of Atlanta; five sisters, Merle Smith, Jonnie Wells, Jean Walker, Jeanette Williams, Jerry Spivey; one brother, Kenneth Tharpe. Funeral services will be held today at 10:30 a.m. Dec. 27, in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home, Abbeville, Ala. Interment will follow at Peniel Cemetery, Skipperville, Ala.

Helen Virginia Marsh, 90, passed away Thursday, Dec. 27, 2001, in Panama City. She was a native of New Jersey and was a resident of Carrabelle from 1962 until 1990. Since that time she has been living in Wewahitchka with her son and his family. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, James C. Marsh, and was of the Catholic faith. Mrs. Marsh is survived by her son John Marsh, and one granddaughter, Veronica Marsh, both of Wewahitchka. Funeral services will be held Sunday, Dec. 30, at 2 p.m. EST, at the Comforter Funeral Home in Port St. Joe, with the Rev. Tom Mangum officiating. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time. Cremation is scheduled.

Funeral services for John William Douglas, 84, of Panama City, who died Wednesday, Dec. 26, in a local hospital, will be held today at 11 a.m. in Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. David Warren and the Rev. Si Mathison officiating. Interment will follow in the Southport Cemetery with Masonic rites conducted by Acme Masonic Lodge at the graveside. The Masonic lodge will open at 10 a.m. today. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Heart Association or the Self Help for Hard of Hearing People, Inc. in memory of John William Douglas. Active pallbearers are Bob Barnard, Ronnie Posey, Don Heaton, Lamar Harris, Ed Downs, and Joe Anderson. Honorary pallbearers are members of the Acme Masonic Lodge, the York Rite, and the Hadji Shrine Temple.

VINCENT G. STORMAN
Vincent G. Storman, of Panama City Beach and formerly of Binghamton, N.Y., died peacefully on Dec. 26, 2001, at Bay Medical in Panama City. He was a resident of Panama City Beach for the past 20 years. He was predeceased by his wife of 54 years, Monica Thayne Storman. He is survived by his daughters, Virginia Potter ( husband Andrew), and Margaret LaLonde (husband Kim), and son, John Storman (wife Becky). Vincent is survived by eight grandchildren, Shane Storman (wife Kelly), Scott Storman, Sue Potter, Carrie Para (husband Scott), Vincent, Mathew, and Jacqueline LaLonde, and Evan Fitzpatrick. He had one great grandson, Jack Storman. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, Dec. 30 at McCormack Funeral home, 141 Main St., Binghamton, N.Y. Funeral mass will be on Monday at 9 a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Binghamton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to Catholic Charities/ Rural Services, P.O.Box 57, Cincinatus, NY 13040. The family wishes to express its thanks to Dr. Stringer and all of the nurses at Surgical Intense Care at Bay Medical Center.
