WILLMER LEE BOOTH
Willmer Lee Booth, 81, of 1117 Hickory Ave., Panama City, died Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2002, in a local hospital. He was retired from Central Electric Supply Company. He had been a resident of Bay County since 1953, moving here from Napier Field, Ala. He was a member and deacon of the Saint Andrew Primitive Baptist Church and was a member of the DAV. He served in the United States Army during World War II. He is survived by his wife, Edna Landingham Booth, of Panama City; two daughters, Charlotte Halstead and her husband, Jerry, of Panama City, Linda Brown and her husband, Steve, of Cocoa, Fla., son, Larry Booth and wife, Sandra, of Ocala, Fla., four grandchildren, Al Booth and wife, Kim, Elon Bruner and husband, Harry, Douglas Brown, David Brown; and sister, O'Dell Davis of Panama City. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Walter Todd officiating. Interment will follow in the Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 6-8 p.m. Those desiring to may make a contribution to the Saint Andrew Primitive Baptist Church in memory of Willmer Lee Booth.

CHARLES LEONARD 'RONNIE' CURRY
Mr. Charles Leonard "Ronnie" Curry, 57, of 751 Bay Ave., died Sunday, Jan. 20, 2002, in his home. He was a lifelong resident of Panama City. He attended public schools in Bay County .He attended Tabemacle Missionary Baptist Church. He is survived by his sisters, Annie G. Cooper (Casper) of Hampton, Va., Margrie Heard of Hialeah, Lillie Mae Dunklin of Maywood, Ill., Sharon of Atlanta, Ga., Monolia of Miami, Shirley Joyce and Mary Kershaw (John), both of Panama City; brothers, Jimmie Curry (Laverne) of Panama City, Johnny Cuny (Shirley) of Maywood, Ill., Harold of Dallas, Texas, and Dan of Panama City; aunts Billie Jean Mobley of Tampa and Lillie Bell Cuny of Maywood, Ill.; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. Funeral services for Mr. Curry will be held Saturday, Jan. 26, 2002, at 11 a.m. in the Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Robert L. Pierson officiating. Interment will follow in the Hillside Cemetery. The remains will lie in state at the church on Saturday from 9 a.m. until service time. The family will receive relatives and friends at 751 Bay Ave.

JOANNE McNABB
Joanne (Joan) McNabb, 74, of Panama City Beach, Fla., died Wednesday, Jan. 16, at Gulf Coast Medical Center, after a brief illness. Born in Swampscott, Mass., and a longtime Florida resident, she was the wife of the late Richard S. McNabb. She proudly served in the U.S. Navy, and worked as an administrative assistant until her retirement at age 70. She is survived by loving family in Massachusetts and Ohio, and dear friends, Ralph and Peggy Coolidge, of Panama City Beach. Mrs. McNabb will rest at West Palm Beach Memorial Park. According to the wishes of the deceased, no memorial or funeral service will be held.

NAZARIE JOHNSON
Nazarie (Miss Girly) Johnson, 95, of Port St. Joe, Fla., died Jan. 21, 2002, in Tampa. She worked for the federal government until her retirement and was a member of the Mount Carmel Baptist Church. She is survived by her daughter, Lillie Crawford; two grandsons, Castldera Watts and his wife, Patricia, and Jerry L. Watts and his wife, Barbara; great-grandchildren, Robin, Carlos, John, LaPamela and her husband, Torrey, Gregory and his wife, Angel, and Dakota; 10 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Jan. 26, at 11 a.m. EST at Mount Carmel Baptist Church with the Rev. Luther Baker officiating, Elder Castldera Watts will give the eulogy. Interment will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church on Saturday.

GEORGE SMITH SR.
Mr. George Smith Sr., 81, of 810 Frank Nelson Drive, died Monday, Jan. 21, 2002, in a local hospital. He was a native of Tallahassee and a resident of Panama City for many years. He was a World War II veteran. He received the following decorations and citations: ATO Medal, APTO Medal, Good Conduct MedaI, WorId War II Victory Medal and The Philippine Liberation Cir 136 WD 45 W/1 Star. He was a member of Greater Friendship Baptist Church. He was a master plumber. He worked for Tenneco Chemicals Inc. until he retired in 1982. He is survived by three sons, Frazier Smith of Miami, George Smith Jr. of Robe Sound and Ernest Smith of Quincy; two daughters, Tuoone P. Smith Rheff (Isiah) of Fort Lauderdale, and Juanita Smith of Sanford; brother, Clinton Smith (Victoria) of Tallahassee; sister, Louise Jones of Panama City; grandchildren, nieces, nephews, too numerous to list; three sisters-in-law, Lucille Smith, Pearlie Smith and Zurabelle Smith all of Tallahassee; a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services for Mr. Smith will be held Saturday, Jan. 26, at 2 p.m. in Greater Friendship Baptist Church with the Rev. Clinton Smith and the Rev. Robert Jones officiating. Interment to follow in Garden of Memories Cemtery. The remains will repose at the church this evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and will lie in state at the church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until service time. The family will receive relatives and friends at the home of his sister, Mrs. Louise Jones, 1110 Harris Ave.

MARVIS WASHINGTON
Marvis Washington, 62, of 712 E. 10th Court, died Monday, Jan. 21, in Bay Medical Center. She was a native of Panama City. In her early years she attended Truimph the Church and Kingdom of God in Christ. She attended Rosenwald and was a faithful member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc. Years later, Marvis attended the State University of New York where she proudly received with honors her master's degree in social services. Marvis is survived by her beloved daughter, Michelle Washington and son-in-law, Christopher Bellinger, Paris, France; her four sisters and their families, Marvis Dawson, San Diego, Calif.; Cecil Mae MacPherson (Wilbert MacPherson), Boston, Mass.; Delores Booker (Thomas Booker), Newark, Del., Lula Mae Jackson (Robert Jackson), Clinton, Md. Marvis also leaves behind her beloved mother, Mrs. Mandethel Paul Washington; as well as a host of other family and friends. Funeral services for Marvis will be held Saturday, Jan. 26, at 1 p.m. in Battle Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Christine Clayton, officiating. Interment will follow in Hillside Cemetery. Public visitation will began at the funeral home this afternoon at 1 p.m. A family hour will be held in the chapel this evening from 7 to 8 p.m.

BESSIE PEARL CAIN
Bessie Pearl Cain, 98, of Panama City, died Friday, Jan. 25, 2002, in a local nursing home. She had been a resident of Panama City for 70 years, moving here from New Brockton, Ala. She was preceded in death by her husband, Porter M. Cain; two granddaughters, Iris Hendley, and Donna Soelzer. She is survived by four daughters, Dodie Beach and husband, Skip, of Panama City, Billie Dove Cain Hensdill and husband, Don, of Lebanon, Va., Iris Sowell and husband, Maurice, of Panama City, Peggy Soelzer and husband, Ralph, of Gulf Breeze, Fla.; nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Larry Beach officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday. The family will be at the home of Dodie Beach, 1058 W. 11th Court, Panama City.

MINNIE BELLE EISENMENGER
Mrs. Minnie Belle Eisenmenger, 93, of Panama City, Fla., passed away Thursday, Jan. 24, 2002, at a local nursing facility. She had been a resident of the area for seven years, coming here from Clarksville, Tenn. Mrs. Eisenmenger was a member of Brannonville Baptist Church and the VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed arts, crafts, doing volunteer work, and helping others. She is survived by a son, Earl Pangburn and his wife, Leatrice, of Panama City; and numerous grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren.

ROY ROBERT CHAMPION
Mr. Roy Robert Champion, 55, of Panama City, died Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2002, in a local nursing home. Born in Paden, Miss., he moved to Panama City in 1970 from Columbus, Ga. Mr. Champion was preceded in death by his mother and father, Marjorie McDowell and Robert Earl Champion. He is survived by four sisters, Annette Mitchum of Middletown, N.Y., Bobbie Sue Boatner of Panama City, Wynoka Johnson of St. Paul, Minn., and Jacqueline Little of Panama City; dear friends, Doug Burch and Fred Isler, both of Panama City; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mr. Champion will be conducted Sunday, Jan. 27, 2002, at 2 p.m. in the Southerland Family Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jim Kirkland officiating. Graveside services will be held on Monday, Jan. 28, at 2 p.m. in Prentiss Memorial Gardens in Frankstown, Miss. The following gentlemen will serve as active pallbearers: Douglas Burch, Fred Isler, Mike Strickland, Tracey Kirkland, J.T. Hallman and Larry Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Oussama Rifai, Dr. Ronald Sinicrope, Dr. John Richards, Dr. Scott Dean, Dr. Richard Walker, Dr. Patricia Anderson, Mr. Leonard Little, the nursing staff at the Kidney Center of Panama City and the staff at the Panama City Nursing Home. The family will receive friends Sunday, Jan. 27, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
