TOMMY CARTER
Tommy Carter passed away Feb. 8, 2002. A memorial service will be held March 2, at 11 a.m., at VFW 2185, located at 2136 Sherman Ave.

MARIE M. HAMM
Marie M. Hamm, of 1512 Mulberry Ave., Panama City, died Thursday, Feb. 28, 2002, in a local hospital. She was born on Jan. 7, 1920, and was 82 years old. She was the founder of Panama City Florist and Gifts in 1962 and worked full time until her retirement in 1990. Mrs. Hamm was preceded in death by her husband Gary "Pete" Hamm; two brothers, Roy Martin and Herman Martin; and two sisters, Hazel Howard and Euna Norton. She is survived by one son, Victor G. Hamm; one sister, Pearl Stanley; and several nephews and nieces. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, the American Business Women's Association, and a lifetime member of Florida Panhandle Florist Association. There will be no formal visitation. Graveside services will be held Sunday at 2:30 p.m. in Evergreen Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Bruce Raley officiating.

DONNIE OSBORNE
Mr. Donnie Osborne, 42, of Fountain, died Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2002, in Okeechobee, Fla. Born in Washington, D.C., he had been a resident of Bay County since 1971. Mr. Osborne was a truck driver. He was a member of Carlisle Baptist Church and Actzion Ministries. Mr. Osborne is survived by his wife, Cathy Osborne of Fountain; his parents, Waverly and Alma Osborne of Callaway; two sons, Jason Lee Osborne and wife, Alison, and Jeffrey Paul Osborne, both of Panama City; one daughter, Brittney Osborne of Panama City; one brother, Hank Osborne and wife, Effie, of Port Royal, Va.; one sister, Glenda Sue Purvis and husband, Jay, of Panama City; one grandson, Bryson Lee Osborne; nephews and nieces, Jeremy Osborne, Jessica Chewning, Carol Ann Osborne, Jordanne Osborne and Jewel Osborne; and stepdaughter, Cress; and stepgrandchildren, Savannah and Elijah. Funeral services for Mr. Osborne will be conducted today, March 2, at 11 a.m. in Southerland Family Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Kelly Dickson officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The following gentlemen will serve as active pallbearers: Duane Kangus, Nick Bunce, Delbert McKinney, Ryan McElrath, Michael Shane Hinson and Randy Harmon. The family will be staying at Mr. Osborne's sister's home at 731 Miles Drive, Callaway, FL.

CARLOS L. OWEN
Mr. Carlos L. Owen, 82, of Panama City, passed away Thursday, Feb. 28, 2002, at the Princeton Hospital in Birmingham, Ala. He had been a resident of the area since 1983, coming here from Troy, Ala. He loved gardening, fishing, and the outdoors. Mr. Owen served his country in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of World War II, where he spent three years in the Middle East. He was a retired educator, teaching for 30 years in the Alabama school system. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lynn Haven. He was very active in the church, having served as deacon and Sunday school superintendent in Chilton County, Ala. Mr. Owen was a member of the Lions Club and Civitan Club in Troy, Ala. Mr. Owen is survived by his wife of 60 years, Annie H. Owen of Panama City; children, Carol Owen and her husband, Michael Williams, of Peachtree City, Ga., Jo Langston and her husband, John, of Panama City, Jimmy Owen of Maplesville, Ala., and Don R. Owen and his wife, Pam, of Lynn Haven; grandchildren, Chris and Jason Scott, Kevin, Drew, and Kelsey Owen; a stepgrandaughter, Melissa Boone; a sister, Evelyn Conway of Thorsby, Ala.; a niece, Martha Atkinson of Alabaster, Ala.; and a nephew, David Conway of Thorsby, Ala. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hannon and Odie Owen; and a sister, Willie Nell Haggard. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today, March 2, 2002, at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Doug Pennington officiating. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Drew Owen Down Syndrome Mutual Fund, 1018 Alabama Ave., Lynn Haven, Fla. 32444.

PHILLIP LEE PARIS
Funeral services for Phillip Lee Paris, 52, of 4324 W. 20th St., Panama City, who went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2002, will be held today at 10 a.m. in Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Jerry Moore officiating. Entombment will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Active pallbearers are Jack Daniels, Chris Paris, Michael Mansini, Chris Fillingim, Brian Taylor, and Terrance Abernathy. Flowers are accepted or those desiring to may make a contribution to the Northside Baptist Church Building Fund in memory of Phillip Lee Paris. RUTH ALLENE BURKART
Mrs. Ruth Allene Burkart, of Panama City, died Thursday, Feb. 28, 2002, in a local hospital. Born in Thomasville, Ga., she moved to Panama City in 1973 from Baltimore, Md. Mrs. Burkart was of the Baptist faith. She is survived by her husband, Carl Frank Burkart, of Panama City; three brothers, James Kirkland and wife, Frankie, of Panama City, Homer Kirkland and wife, Doris, of Lynn Haven, and Thomas Kirkland and wife, Mable, of Pensacola, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews. Graveside services for Mrs. Burkart will be conducted Monday, March 4, 2002, at 2 p.m. in the Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Interment will follow. The family will receive friends this afternoon from 3 to 5 p.m. at the funeral home.

SHIRLEY FAYE MOORE EMBRY
Mrs. Shirley Faye Moore Embry, 46, Went to be with the Lord on Feb. 25, 2002 at Bay Medical Center. Mrs. Embry Loved the Lord and was a devoted christian. She was born to the late Willie (Clinthonia) Moore on May 30, 1955 in Anniston, Ala. She was a member of the Harvest Worship Center. She leaves a loving family to cherish her memory two sons, Gary C. Embry (Nicole) of Lawton, Okla. and Jeremy B. Embry (Mary) of Panama City; three grand children, Gabriel D. Embry, Nicholas C. Embry, and Nakia M. Embry of Panama City; four sisters, Linda Moore, Panama City; Juanita Snowden (Robert), Raleigh, N.C.; Lenora Smith, and Terolyn Moore both of Atlanta, Ga.; four brothers, Willie Moore (Meike), Colorado Springs, Colo.; Floyd Moore (Brenda), Anniston, Ala.; Rogers Moore (Loretta), Jacksonville, Ala.; and Darion Moore (Jennifer), Seattle, Wash. She was loved and admired by her family and friends and will be greatly missed. Visitation for Mrs. Embry will be held on March 3 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the mortuary. The family will receive friends during family hour from 7 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Monday, March 4, at 2 p.m., at Harvest Worship Center 3238 E. Highway 390 Pastor Ramsey Officiating. Interment will follow in Hillside Cemetery.

INELLA TURNER MATHIS
Inella Turner Mathis, 71, died Friday, Feb. 22, 2002, in Fort Lauderdale. God saw fit to bless this earth with the birth of Inella Turner Mathis on May 4, 1930, to parents Issac and Elizabeth Turner in Panama City, Fla. Her earlier life was spent in Panama City when she attended Rosenwald High School. At an early age she was united in holy matrimony in 1959 to Leo Battles (deceased). In 1966, she married Albert James (A.J.) Mathis. Inella accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal savior in her young adult life at First Mt. Moriah Baptist church, Panama City. She moved to Fort Lauderdale in 1969 where she continued to reside until her passing. During her working years, she was employed for 23 years with Vision Ease Manufacturers and retired in 1993. She became a member of the Masonic family for many years and was a member of the VFW Post 8195. Inella joined First Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church family where she served as a faithful member and supporter until her passing. She was the president of the usher board and was actively involved with the youth board. The love of her Pastor and his wife and the church family was a priority. She also loved her family and friends, but the center of her heart was her daughter, Barbara, and granddaughter, Monique. Inella was known as the fishing lady as she loved to fish, cook fish and loved to eat them. In fact, she was happiest when the family came together to fry fish and enjoy each other. Through it all she was the picture taker. She was an active member of the National Associate of Floridian Clubs Inc. and the local affiliate chapter, The South Florida Floridian Club. Survivors to cherish her memories are her mother, Elizabeth Turner Edison, Panama City; daughter, Barbara Taylor Brinson, Fort Lauderdale; granddaughter, Monique LaShawn Taylor, Orlando; two brothers, James Lee Turner (Linnie) Milwaukee, Wis., and Fred Turner, Jacksonville; five sisters, Mary McKinnon, Crystal River, Estell Ceasar (Mack), Panama City, Betty Stanley (Willie Selders), Orlando, and Gertrude Turner and Millerdean Edison, both of whom preceded her in death; a brother-in-law, Frank Stanley, Panama City; special friends and family, Mickey and Josephine Dillard, and Eugenia Byrd; grandgodson Kenny Stephens; a host of nieces and nephews, many sorrowing friends and her favorite dog, Petie. Funeral services for Mrs. Mathis will be held on Monday, March 4, at 11 a.m. in Battle Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Willie James Golden officiating. Interment will follow in Hillside Cemetery. Public visitation will be held Monday at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until the service begins.

CRESENCIANA PUDA
Cresenciana Puda, of Panama City Beach, died Saturday, March 02, 2002, in a local hospital. She had been a resident of Panama City Beach since 1992. She was a member of the Jehovah's Witnesses Kingdom Hall-Beach. She was preceded in death by her husband, Espinio Puda Sr., and a sibling, Amon. She is survived by seven children, Remy Cooksey, Espinio Puda Jr., Amelia Menes, Herman Puda, Bobby Puda, Alexander Puda, Armando Puda; seven siblings, Mina, Inong, Florence, Franklin, Angelina, Esther, Arsenio; and 15 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.

ANN GIPSON TODD
Ann Gipson Todd, of 3637 W. County 390, Panama City, died Saturday, March 2, 2002, in a local hospital. She had been a resident of Panama City for 14 months, moving here from Marshall, Texas. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Marshall, and was a hospital auxiliary volunteer in Marshall. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cmdr. Thomas Todd. She is survived by a daughter, Suzanne Jarman, and her husband, Col. Kenneth Jarman, of Lynn Haven; three grandchildren, Todd Jarman and his wife, Marcela, Heather Ray and her husband, Tyler, Lt. Christopher Jarman and his wife, Lt. Michelle Jarman; three great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn Ray, Christian Ray, Thomas Jarman;, and a brother, Clifford Gipson Jr., and his wife, Barbara, of Belaire, Fla. Funeral services will be held Wednesday in the Sullivan Funeral Home Chapel, Marshall, Texas. Interment will follow in the Colonial Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Sullivan Funeral Home on Tuesday evening. Those desiring to may make a contribution to the American Red Cross or the Shrine Hospital in memory of Ann Gipson Todd.
