TED VICKERS
Mr. Ted Vickers, 37, of Panama City, died Thursday, April 11, 2002, in a local hospital. He had been a resident of Bay County since 1975 and attended Rutherford High School and Tom P. Haney Vocational Center. Ted was a kind, caring, free spirit who befriended many. Always cheerful and outgoing, he never complained, even in the toughest circumstances. Ted loved the outdoors and especially fishing at the Tyndall jetties. May the sun over the Gulf of Mexico always shine on him. He is survived by his father, Richard Vickers and wife, Cheryl; mother, Carol Vickers; stepmother, Millie Vickers; grandmother, Orpah McLeod; many other family members including Neil Vickers and wife, Cher, Darlene Gunther and husband, Oscar, Glenn Vickers, and wife, Christina, Gary Vickers, Linda Vickers, Lisa Vickers, Laurie Vickers, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mr. Vickers will be conducted Monday, April 15, at 1 p.m. in the Callaway Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Bobby Thompson officiating. Interment will follow in Orangehill Methodist Church Cemetery in Chipley, Fla., at 3:30 p.m. The family will receive friends this afternoon from 3 to 5 p.m. at the funeral home.

GERMAINE 'GERI' M. MUNLEY
Mrs. Germaine "Geri" M. Munley, 88, of New Port Richey, Fla., expired Thursday, April 11, 2002, at a local nursing facility. She was born in Chicago, Ill., and had lived in New Port Richey for 24 years, moving there from Green Bay, Wis. Mrs. Munley retired as the executive secretary for the Green Bay Catholic Diocese after 20 years service. She was a Third Order Carmelite and a life-long member of the Catholic Church. Before moving to Green Bay she was a secretary at Notre Dame University. Mrs. Munley is survived by a son, John G. Munley Jr., of Green Bay, Wis.; two daughters, Denise Swift of Phoenix, Ariz., and Barbara Fogarty and her husband, Patrick, of Banning, Calif.; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, John G. Munley; and a daughter, Susan Bourke. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, April 15, 2002, at St. John Catholic Church with Father Marty Bratek officiating. The family will receive friends at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home today, April 14, 2002, from 5 to 8 p.m.

GEORGE E. 'GENE' BAUMAN
Mr. George E. "Gene" Bauman of Panama City died Thursday, April 4, 2002, at his residence. Born in Biloxi, Miss., he moved to Panama City in 1965 from Ocean Springs, Miss. Mr. Bauman worked for the United States government for 35 years and had been a physicist since 1965. He had a significant role in keeping our national warfare publications updated with the latest technical information. Mr. Bauman is preceded in death by his wife, Penny Bauman. He is survived by one sister, Helen Guice of Ocean Springs; nine nieces and nephews; and many close friends and neighbors. Memorial services for Mr. Bauman will be conducted Saturday, April 27, at 3 p.m. in Southerland Family Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. prior to service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Bay County Humane Society in memory of Mr. Bauman.

LLOYD LEWIS FOGT
Mr. Lloyd Lewis Fogt, 84, of Wewahitchka, Fla., passed away Saturday, April 13, 2002, at UAB in Birmingham, Ala. Born in Dayton, Ohio, Mr. Fogt had lived in Wewahitchka for 32 years, moving there from Bay County. He was a retired machinist and a U S. Navy veteran of World War II. Mr. Fogt was a member of Honeyville United Methodist Church of Wewahitchka. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Jane Marie Fogt of Wewahitchka; a daughter, Janet Yerby Huppert and her husband, Norman, of Enterprise, Ala.; a sister, Lillian Buehner of Fairborn, Ohio; three grandchildren, Ward Yerby of Niceville, Fla., Richard Yerby and his wife, Kay, of Auburn, Ala., and Linda Lee Whalen and her husband, Sean, of Portland, Fla.; and four great-grandchildren, Shane Michael Whalen, Jared Scott Whalen, Kayce Morgan Yerby, and Phagen Nicole Yerby. He was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Christina Yerby. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m., Wednesday, April 17, at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Gus Howerton and the Rev. Lavelle Enterkin officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. LENA SHIRLEY McCLAIN
Miss Shirley McClain, 54, of Panama City, passed away at 1:20 a.m. on Monday, April 15, 2002, at a local hospital. She was born on Feb. 24, 1948, in Detroit, Mich., and had lived in Bay County for 29 years. Miss McClain was a real estate agent until she became disabled in 1992. She is survived by her mother and father, Rose and Howard M. McClain; her daughter, Leigh McClain; a sister, Leone Venus, all of Panama City; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at East Congregation of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 21, 2002. Brother Glenn Finley will preside.

FANNIE LUCILLE MCKNIGHT
Mrs. Lucille J. McKnight, longtime resident of Port St. Joe, passed away Sunday, April 14, 2002, in a local health-care facility. Born in Malone, Fla., she had lived in Gulf County since 1938, moving from Blounstown, Fla. Mrs. McKnight was a devoted wife and mother who enjoyed her children, grandchildren and other family members. She was a charter member of Long Avenue Baptist Church. Mrs. McKnight is preceded in death by her husband, Harry McKnight; and granddaughter, Toni Suzanne Wilder. She is survived by one son, Bob McKnight and wife, Marilyn, of Jacksonville, Fla.; one daughter, Diana Wilder and husband, Walter, of Howards Creek, Fla.; grandchildren, Melanie Alexander and husband, Steve, of Davidson, N.C., Barry McKnight and wife, Deborah, of Auburn, Ala., Todd Wilder and wife, Kim, of Davie, Fla., Lesley Weisgerber and husband, Mark, of Hanford, Calif., Jenny McKnight of Chicago, Ill., Tim Wilder and wife, DeAnn, of Port St. Joe, and Mike McKnight of Los Angeles, Calif.; sister, Mary Belin and husband, Leonard, of Port St. Joe; sisters-in-law, Daisy Johnson of Port St. Joe and Flossie Johnson of Decatur, Ala.; niece, Ann Salter and husband, Terry, of Prattville, Ala.; and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral services for Mrs. McKnight will be conducted today, April 16, at 10 a.m. EST in Long Avenue Baptist Church with the Rev. John Adkins officiating. Interment will follow in Holly Hill Cemetery. The following gentlemen will serve as active pallbearers: Barry McKnight, Todd Wilder, Tim Wilder, Jim Belin, David Player and Mike McKnight. Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons of Long Avenue Baptist Church. HATTIE MAE RAY
Mrs. Hattie Mae Ray, 96, of 1115 Louisiana Ave., died April 10, 2002, at Bay Medical Center. She was a native of Lafayette, Ala., and a resident of Panama City for many years. She was born to the late Mr. Lee Andrew Jackson Heath and Mrs. Martha Foster Heath. At an early age she united with Christ and was baptized in Jesus name and joined and served at Greater Bethel A.M.E. Church. She attended and served faithfully in her duties until her illness. She served on the missionary board, stewardess board, Sunday school class and many other capacities in the church. She was known as a loving and caring person for all whom she met. She was also a member of the Christian Band of Benevolence. She grew up in White Plain, Ala., and was educated at Rock Fence High School. She was united in holy matrimony to the late Mr. Frank Ray, and to this union they had one child, and later moved to Panama City. She was preceded in death by seven brothers, Bosie, Ruel, Johnny, Columbus, Lee Andrew Jackson Jr., Nathaniel and Raney Heath; five sisters: Lizzie, Beulah, Louella, Mattie and Flora Heath. She is survived by a devoted, loving and caring daughter, Thelma Ray Jennings and her devoted husband, Rosco Jennings Sr., who faithfully helped her, both of Panama City; a stepsister, Linda Hunt of Panama City; four grandchildren, Pastor Joyce Harries (Elder Whit), Franklin Jerome Lynch (Virginia), Rosco Jennings Jr. (Angela) and Robert Allen Jennings; 10 great-grandchildren: Alisa (David), Toshia (Darren), Andrea (Shannon), Germaine (Michelle), Regina (Esau), La Keatha (Dana), Amanda (Nasson) Morgan, DeAnthony and Alysa, Courtney; 13 great-great-grandchildren, Randall, Tahri, Jaqueta, Brittany, Jocelyn, Jasmine, Esau Jr., Skylar, Dana, Shamar, Dane, Alexis and Jada; two special friends, Rhoda Williams and Gertha Mings; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services for Mrs. Ray will be held Wednesday, April 17, in Greater Bethel A.M.E. Church at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Charles Cloy, Pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in Hillside Cemetery. The remains will lie in state at the church on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until service time. The family will receive relatives and friends at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Thelma Ray Jennings and her husband, Mr. Roscoe Jennings, 1115 Louisiana Ave.

KENAN VINCENT HOWELL
Kenan Vincent Howell, 59, of Youngstown, went to be with the Lord on April 14, 2002, in MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. He was an electrician and was a member of IBEW Local 1001 and 676. He was a lifelong resident of Bay County. He was preceded in death by his mother, Erma Joyner Sapp. He is survived by his wife, Kay Nell Howell of Youngstown; two daughters, Kimberly Howell of Youngstown and Kelly Jo Sequin of New York; two grandsons, Jonathan Goodman and Casey Goodman, both of Youngstown; father, Hinton Sapp of Youngstown; six siblings, Dorinda Jo Hicks of Geneva, Ala., Loretta Marlow of DeFuniak Springs, Frank Sapp, Rene‚ Jones, both of Fountain, Michael Sapp of Youngstown, Joanna Hyde of Panama City; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jack Emerson and the Rev. Bill Placarin officiating. Interment will follow in the Youngstown Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 6 to 7 p.m. Those desiring to may make a contribution to the American Cancer Society or American Heart Association in memory of Kenan Vincent Howell. Active pallbearers will be Jack Clements, Jimmy Hicks, Todd Hicks, Lee Alan Hicks, Gordon Davis, Billy Don Goodman and Dan Williams.
