ORVILLE LEROY DUKE
My father lived his life as an "Officer and a Gentleman," devoted to his God, his family, and in a career of military service to his country. He was blessed with 58-plus years of marriage, sharing with his wife, Jeanne, life's challenges and rewards. His 82 years of experiencing all he had ever hoped to see and do included 40 years of retirement in Hawaii and Arizona. The regimentation of his military experience never left him, and was coupled with a gentler side of caring for others, as well as a display of humor that he kept even in his final hours. He fought cancer twice and won. Eventually, he was challenged again. With the guidance of hospice and Jeanne's loving support and companionship, he spent his final days at home as they dealt with his parting together. Duke left a lifetime of loving memories with Mom and me, and a thorough knowledge of and faith in his relationship with his God. I, Thomas W. Duke, will miss the love, support, and patience that he has so rewarded me with, and am left with a lifetime of example to follow.
